DG1 Leisure Complex

Positive experience: Pool is very warm, not very organised lost property system. The meet kept having to be stopped and swimmers being told to step down from the blocks because they refused to turn their radios down.

Fantastic experience: First class venue.

Positive experience: Would be 4 stars if the pool were a couple of degrees warmer. Water therapy is brilliant for me, I am in constant pain until I go in the water. But any increase in mobility is spoilt within a few hours, the cold temperature means my back will freeze again shortly after. I'd love a warmer pool, or even a heated jacuzzi, so I can benefit from the exercise. I would definitely join the membership scheme, if only the pool temperature were warmer.

Fantastic experience: We're on holidays in Dumfries this week and decided to go for a swim with our son today. We booked last night online. I really like the way the pools aren't overbooked like back home. It was a much more pleasant experience as a result. The pirate ship and slides were a big hit with my son. The leisure suite was very nice too! My son enjoyed a swim in the 25m pool which you book separately from the leisure pool. All the staff poolside whom we interacted with were so nice and helpful. A big shout out to Nate on reception who was extremely helpful and I can see why you're the first point of contact! Great job. Highly recommend DG1 for a swim and a sauna. Didn't use the gym but it seemed very busy while we were there so it must be good.

Negative experience: Sadly I haven't been able to use these facilities since the introduction of booking slots. I regularly used the pool followed by the health suite but living 27 miles away and relying on stagecoach busses this system doesn't work for me.

Negative experience: PATHETIC BOOKING SYSTEM,,,, took my 4 year old son who has Ducahane Muscular Dystrophy and although enjoyed the leaiseure pool. Was annoyed with the booking experience when we wanted to go back. Tried for two days to book an open slot on the app , 11.30 am woth over 20 places available but wouldnt allow me to book. Spoke to someone over the ohone to say it was ooked out and even thiugh the app said places available , tvis eould apparently mean the place is booked out. Sort the booking system out its rubbish total waste of time

Fantastic experience: Best stores

Negative experience: Spectating experience, underwhelming, couldn't actually see my grandchild in the leasure pool. The amount of chlorine gas in the spectator area was overwhelming, possibly due to the spectator seating being quite high up. This made me ill and suffered the consequences for two days. I had only been in the building 30min approx, would never spectate again, too much of a health risk for me.

Negative experience: Take great exception to paying my taxes to keep this place open, only to find that I cannot access it because it has been booked out for private parties… make your mind up DGC - either this is a commercial venture or public service.

Positive experience: Great leisure pool with a pirate ship and slides for kids to enjoy. Pool evenly 0.9 meters so allows for young kids to safely explore. Numbers limited to 38 so never over crowded. Been taking my daughter (it’s an hour drive for us there) since she was 3 and she still loves it at 5.

Positive experience: First time I've been to this leisure facility which was for a children's birthday party. The swimming pools looked excellent. The party pool had a full length inflatable obstical course. The kids loved it. There was a very professional briefing prior to kids getting in the water which included a swimming ability test. What I did find strange was the swimming pools closed at 3 pm on a Saturday. That said, the kids had a great time which was what it was all about. Definitely recommend this leisure complex.

Negative experience: Shame the website wasn't updated to let holiday makers in the area know the pool was closed.... three very upset Granddaughters!!! I was informed at the desk, rather rudely in hindsight, that members were informed by email!! No use when you don't live locally and we're obviously not members!

Positive experience: Okay. Pool was a little small. Main pool should be for public only. Disappointing water slide for under 18s only. To think this place cost a fortune to build and took as long as it did. Mixed changing area, I wouldn't want to come on my own. They could have concentrated more on the pool, instead of having two gyms. There's no jacuzzi either. Fast food center is nice but sends the wrong message.

Fantastic experience: Wonderful customer service. Booking via the app can be a pain. Swimming changing areas clean. Pool well maintained. Gym clean and well maintained, often quite busy. Gymnastics classes highly rated.

Negative experience: There is no longer warm water sessions. Therefore many, many of us disabled people who no longer get a decent place to walk or swim in warmer water. It is absolutely disustinging in this day an age the the disabled people in this day and age, who are on benefits, cannot get any water therapies. Bannatyne are extremely expensive and there pool is still cold. Cairndale is again very expensive and the pool is harder to get into the pool. And finally Bistro is a nice pool ,but only a ladder to get in and out. A I said. Disgusting. The only pool where we can afford is in my eyes, breaking the law.

Fantastic experience: Fabulous two pools very well kept with lane swimming in big pool and boat with pirate theme in kids pool. Wonderful staff who let me know when my earring was found. Love this place and the people who use it for their honesty in returning silver earring and their friendliness

Fantastic experience: We were only in the leisure pool on our last visit, we all enjoyed it. At 90cm deep, it's deep enough for my 9 year old to have a paddle, but also be able to walk. I held onto my toddler while in the pool and sat him on my knee for the slides on the pirate ship.

Didn't really speak to staff and can't comment on food, dry land activities or parking etc as we came down on team bus ‍♂️ If I am in Galloway on holiday and looking for a pool then I would 100% be heading here

Fantastic experience: The staff are very friendly and helpful. Was only there for swimming, but was impressed. Has three pools of which the main pool has 8 lanes is the usual 25m long. Nice hot clean showers and there is even a subway on site.

Negative experience: Often closed or close early. Never ever answer the phone.

Fantastic experience: I I am disabled ( paralysis down one side,& a below the knee amputee). but I was keen to get back into a swimming pool again, although, I was pretty nervous, the staff could not have been more supportive & helpful, they managed to make getting in/out the water, almost effortless, & enjoyable, they have a well practiced, team, who put me totally at ease, & gave me the confidence security & safe feeling it desperately needed, the overall facilities were excellent,& the staff outstanding,(so if you have a friend, family or loved one who is wheelchair bound like myself, I highly recommend & urge you to contact them, this was my first visit to dg one & it certainly won't be my last!

Fantastic experience: Visited this swimming pool 7th of September 2022. Took our 9 month old grandson he was besotted with the splashing water barrel and the pirate ship. This is definitely the best swimming pool we have ever been to. Can't wait to book again the next time we visit Dumfries.

Positive experience: It's a good swimming pool (and there's a trainng pool and a leisure pool on site), and the facilities are good. But: it could be better organised. Having timed sessions, and being over officious about them, means that there's a rush and queue for the showers at the end of the sessions. Also, there seem to be no scheduled times for lane swimming, and it is irritating trying to swim lengths with dive bombing kids, horse play, and people moving randomly in the shallow end. Another criticism less easy to fix is that the shallow end is so shallow that it is hard to do full leg strokes without touching the bottom. I don't know how feasible racing turns would be.

Fantastic experience: Brilliant swimming pool, extremely clean and lots of changing rooms and locker space, there is a great pirate ship in the leisure pool featuring water canons and slides, plus a huge bucket that fills up and empties out on you if your brave enough to stand underneath it . Fantastic value for money and well worth a visit, highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: I have been using the facility for a while now and really enjoy going. The facility is very clean and I've never had a need to complain. The gym can be busy in the evenings which is understandable. The staff are all really friendly and always willing to answer any questions you might have. The sauna and steam room are one if my favourite places very clean and nice and relaxing. The pool is well a pool. Not Much to say really. I use it with my son. The pool staff are friendly, approachable and great with kids. My son loves the place. The cleaners are about most of the day and the staff at reception have ALWAYS sorted out any problems I have had. The membership price is really good value for money considering what you get access too. I would recommend DG1 and will continue to use the facility.

Positive experience: Spent an hour this afternoon in the leisure pool with my wife and two kids,had great fun and was well worth the £12. However OMG how hard is it to book online and don't try and phone as nobody likes answering the phone!!! If you are not a member it is impossible to book as it asks for your membership number and at the same time it tells you that booking online is for everyone. So I had to go into DG1 and speak to the receptionist and they realize and all the other staff members realize that the website doesn't work,but no one can be bothered doing anything about it. So I had to give my full details and the same for my wife and two kids for which we were all given a preference Numbers which we can use at anytime. As I wanted to book today for 12.45 I had to book yesterday at 12.45 so we could get places and by easily putting in our preference Numbers and paying. I got a email of confirmation which I showed to reception when we went in today. Why does everything have to be so hard!!!

Negative experience: Online booking system is a disaster… each individual person needs to have an account registered and booked in separately under an individual e-mail address… complete nightmare if you have children. Wouldn’t be so bad if reception staff actually answered the phone to take a booking. The DGOne disaster trundles on.
