Fantastic experience: Very good facility with good equipment, can busy though at tea time

Negative experience: Awful place I go swimming and a woman’s only afternoon?the receptionist let us pay then told us we can’t go in and she gave us no refund.All the gym equipment are absolutely awful old and damaged most of them don’t work.never come here.IF THEY DONT PUT A MENS ONLY AFTERNOON ASWELL I WILL CONSIDER SUEING .

Negative experience: Worked out here a few times now after switching from another gym. It was advertised as being well equipped but there is a real lack of equipment and facilities. There is also nowhere available to correctly stretch and warmup your muscles before your workout which can contribute to injury. The gym is rather cramped together and the pool and pool changing areas are walked through regularly with outdoor shoes which is absolutely disgusting.

Fantastic experience: Just started swimming here on a Tuesday and absolutely love it.Staff friendly and helpful and great clean changing rooms.Highly recommend.

Negative experience: I would not ever recommend this place for any facilities, we cancelled online from the website that they have as they are that far behind they don’t even have an app that works!! Come on you are living in 2024 why don’t you have an APP? You have a big leisure centre build but can’t provide an app to your customers? We have been sent back and forth from third parties to deal with a dispute created from trust , to membership team, to leisure centre staff and to DFC. Wasn’t resolved as they was unable to find anything because their system is so shit and slow that most of the times it’s always down. We have not used the facility for over 2 months and was charged £109. This gym is not worth it. Never have i experienced any issues with any other local gyms around here I would recommend JDs or pure gym they have an APP easy access and clear instructions. Not a SCAM like this leisure centre in rochdale.

Negative experience: Tried to go to the swimming sessions a few times this week and previous weeks but it seems that they allow anyone and everyone in and stop members from accessing the pools due to capacity. Surely if I'm paying for a swimming subscription I should be allowed to swim without restrictions? You can set aside some pool spots for actual members who are paying for access. In the last 4 weeks I have attempted to access the pools at least 12 times (3x a week sessions) and have turned back for 7 of them. I will be looking to cancel my subscription and receive a full refund because this is appalling

Negative experience: Awful attitude to customers who came to Ladies swim on Saturday.It is not fair to stand and wait on drafts waiting 25min, when u pay for swim. And they didn.t allow to come in when you are ready to pay and sit inside waiting to a right time. Am so dissapointed about this attitude and ask u to change this ASAP. It is against people rights.

Positive experience: Most staff are friendly. However, Some can't be bothered to help and look tired.

Negative experience: Member of this gym and family as well . But I have noticed during all time when I went with my kids for family swim really get disappointed their attitude towards Asian community isn’t cooperative. They don’t even deserve a one star I just went with my kids I can’t swim I fall down in pool and couldn’t get up by myself that moment I felt as last day of my life and people around and even life guards they didn’t bother. Thanks my six years old daughter rescued me

Positive experience: Very hard to get children swimming classes as it is so popular.

Positive experience: Good overall, but beware of thieves.

Positive experience: Most are of the staff are friendly and helpful but one young girl in particular is very rude and disrespectful with a very bad attitude hence the 3 stars I would of give more because it’s a good swimming pool but she just brings it down!

Negative experience: Personally I think some of the life guards not all can be quite abrubt and rude to people using the public pool and attending swimming lessons. As witnessed today I witnessed a little girl helping herself to armbands the life guard on shift was very abrubt with the little girls parent and said the armbands were for kids who paid for lessons only. The parent explained that his daughter was having lessons she was just a few minutes early. The lifegaurd then allowed the little girl to use the arm bands before her lesson started. Just think for people teaching children they should be more aware of their mannerism towards customers.

Fantastic experience: Planing to book classes for my daughter

Fantastic experience: I have been going there for swimming once a week or less. It costs 5.60£ per visit as I am not a member. They have easy parking access. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The pool closes at 2:30 for men. Tips: get yourself a towel, body wash and a change of clothes. and a refundable coin (any coin) for the locker.

Fantastic experience: Amazing facilities and the staff all deserve a medal. They are great.

Positive experience: Family swim, usually good but spoilt on this occasion by a gang of kids. Signs clearly round the pool saying No Diving but this didn't stop these lads and neither did the lifeguards, who just watched. They had no regard to anyone else in the pool including young children. I'm all for having fun and a laugh but they went too far I thought and the lack of any action by the lifeguards was disappointing.

Negative experience: Just try phoning the Rochdale Leisure Centre office and you will be put on hold as if they are going to answer your call......you are going to be waiting FOREVER, as I have found out that the staff have a policy that they dont answer your call......try it ? Rochdale Leisure Centre staff are a law onto themselves, they are also rude to their customers......visit the place and try it ? obviously Rochdale Council cannot be bothered to check on what is going on there....apart from this review I think I will contact my MP for Rochdale and see if they also ignore his calls too what a total waste of space and time.....even a zero rating is not low enough for the Rochdale Leisure Centre !!!

Positive experience: Great gym and never too busy which is nice. Equipment doesn’t seem that well maintained though. I’ve been coming for about two months and in that time the plate chest press machine has been constantly broken and since then the leg curl machine is also broken and has been for about a week

Fantastic experience: Great gym with relaxed atmosphere, help is available if you need it. I did I couldn't work the machines which was obvious when I was told I was sat the wrong way! Sauna, swimming too and plenty of free sessions to book through the app once your a member.

Positive experience: The centre itself is nice, big open spaces, plenty of car parking spaces and free for 3 hours, although noticed the "family/parent child" spaces are abused by single people, but that's the case in lots of places. Changing facilities are OK, but quite small cubicle especially if trying to change an infant and yourself. The lack of bench space compared to previous centre was noticeable. Been several times now and each time had to leave after only 30 minutes as the kids were very cold, so much, that their lips had turned blue. Always seems as though the small pool is never used, never seen anybody in it, and yet families with small children learning to swim can't use it. Plenty of staff around to act as lifeguards, so couldn't see what the issue would be.

Positive experience: I think the cleanliness of the changing rooms and the male toilets take this to 3 stars out of 5, I take my little one swimming here and 9 times out of 10 he is bursting for a wee when he gets out, I dread having to take him to the toilet, the male toilets are disgusting, I know that's down to the people using them but I do feel they should be cleaned more frequently, other than those issues I can't fault the place.....oooh no squash court there either which is a shame!

Negative experience: Disgusting , people spitting and blowing there nose out on the floor in the steam room , it’s happening every time I’m in , reported to reception, was told there was signs up to stop them , they must think I’m blind as I couldn’t find one sign up telling people to be to not be minging ,if you want to get the plague this is the gym for you .

Positive experience: Lockers are being trashed by the locals !!!!! Other than that ...........it's good.

Negative experience: Fantastic facilities and really great and friendly staff (when you're in). Why do they have a phone line if not gonna bother answering? Please adjust your times to let people know when your lines are being manned. On hold for half n hour trying to cancel a booking due to an emergency and now it looks like I've lost my money..

Negative experience: Men only and women only I find absolutely stupid especially when it's prime family time

Positive experience: Superb modern facilities that were recently renovated(gym area). It can be very very busy for swimming, and the deep end is as deep as the old swimming centre that used to have bigger swimming areas and 3 pools rather than 2.

Negative experience: Just been to a class with an instructor for the first time. Blaring music, no directions with what equipment you might need, arrogant and rude. I spoke to someone else and apparently this male Instructor has a reputation for being rude! Why?! Coming to the gym should be fun and relaxing, not stressful cause you have to deal with someone who is just plain rude and unprofessional. The worst thing is when you go to a class for the first time and have a horrible experience. Makes you not want to go back! This is a great centre! Shame one staff member can ruin the reputation of the centre. Not a good experience for me. Had an introduction session in the gym with a different instructor - he was amazing! The centre needs to weed out some of these horrible unhelpful instructors and reward the ones who are an asset to the team. Ps the team at the desk are so so so so good. Always helpful and cheerful Well done x

Fantastic experience: Seems like a good place. I saw plenty of gym equipment etc. I was there for a session in the suite upstairs so didn't get the chance to try anything else out.

Positive experience: Excellent facilities, however, the thermal suite timings for mixed, male only and female only appear to change based on whims. I can't figure out when the timings change and there are very few times for male only atm.

Fantastic experience: I would definitely recommend children's swimming lessons here ‍♂️ - both of my kids started with Arianna, who was fab, and both progressed fairly quickly into the next group. Both of my kids are currently taught by Jake S who is an amazing instructor, a few of the school mums had recommended him, having taught they're kids - my kids really enjoy going, they are more confident since starting swimming, I can see every week my kids are really encouraged but never pressurised to do something they can't do. My daughter has some special needs and Jake is really patient with her which we really appreciate. I would advise requesting Jake if you are thinking of enrolling your kids, he seems more pro active in terms of always being in the pool with the class which I feel makes the kids feel more safe and they learn better and faster, especially if they are still learning to swim and as a parent I feel more reassured my kids are in safe hands - I have seen a few other instructors who don't get in the pool and they're teaching methods are quite military style, which could be good if that is what you are looking for. I would suggest checking which instructors are available prior to sign up. Agnes has also been great with giving my kids extra support when needed so thank you so much

Negative experience: Pay to use the pool, only allowed to use half and half is blocked off with no one using it and told cannot use but paid for pool use one very narrow swim lane, bit pathetic... gangs of youths throwing balls, hitting children who are try to learn to swim with parents, everyone cramped into half a pool… but pay to use a full pool not charged to use what is available. Total ripoff…. More interested in charging for the swimming lessons and pool that cannot be used

Positive experience: Well equipped gym and great choice of classes. The showers are cold. When I complained about it, I was told it won't be resolved any time soon. Cost of having all 8 boilers on instead of just two was cited.

Negative experience: Not happy with the service. As a matter of fact I tried calling the leisure centre numerous times, every time i would be on hold for 30-40 minutes and it would never come through. They just somply dont answer the phone. So frustrating.

Negative experience: We planned to go for a family swim with 4 adults and 6 children all under 4 years old and tried to ring rochdale leisure centre to ask if this would be OK but noone replied. So after trying to get through all morning my daughter drove down to ask and was told at reception it was fine as they had no rule that it's 1 adult per child under 4, she made sure to tell reception ages of the children because we know that is the rule in some places. In the evening we all went with out 3 toddlers and 3 babies with floats and all baby things in tow and changed them ready for the pool, obviously they were excited once near the poolside stepping into their floats one of the staff decided now was the time to say we can't go in because of the 1 adult for 1 child rule. We explained that one of us actually drove here to ask this as noone picks up the phone ever, and we also just paid at reception and told them how many adults and children we had and still noone said anything, they waited till we were about to step into the pool!!! Obviously there was horrendous upset and tantrums as we dragged the crying children back to the changing rooms, slipping and falling twice. We had to take them home still crying all the way home. Never had the children so stressed and upset that they cried themselves to sleep in the car. Management need to be retrained and the staff should all know what their policies are. Also someone needs to answer the phone and not make us waste fuel driving down to be given false information, noone actually apologised properly or cared that the children were having an absolute meltdown, or that the staff at reception should have said you need another adult with you. We were refunded on way out as if its a normal occurence still no apologies, Never had such an horrendous experience!!

Positive experience: Recommend the Sauna, the gym could use some more machines for weight lifting as it's usually busy and you have to wait to use a machine. The showers are cold aswell in the men's changing room and the place needs some minor improvements

Negative experience: It's not bad I went yo take my daughter to swim and it just stunk of curry!! And I don't agree with people getting in the pool fully dressed. They should be wearing some for of swim suit atleast.

Fantastic experience: Free parking, clean changing rooms, friendly staff.

Negative experience: Visited with 3 grandchildren. Web site a nightmare, could not get times and prices and no reply on ringing. In family changing when 2 young teenage boys who should have never been changing in a family area started being abusive, kicking at doors and shouting out the most vile things I have ever heard . No staff in changing area to report this too, and had to go into pool area with towel on to report. One lady with her little girl in tears as they kicked door in whilst they were changing. I suggest you have a member of staff in all changing areas and check where people are getting changed. ie families in a family section.

Fantastic experience: Great centre with excellent facilities. Gym, sauna, ladies only gym, large pool and small pool . Plenty of fitness classes plus sports hall for badminton , table tennis and other sports. Gym memberships at excellent rates and no contracts involved.

Negative experience: came for combat class only to be told by instructor she like to change it so her body doesn’t get used to it. I traveled 10 miles because i love the les mills bodycombat classes. Why can’t this gym stick to the time table they advertise

Positive experience: Booked an hour for badminton was good fun. The hall was a large size and enough space. The price to book was very good also

Negative experience: There are good things about the place. The worst thing is that no one answers the phone when you call them. This is very frustrating.

Fantastic experience: Clean and efficiently run. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Friendly place you feel welcome here.

Negative experience: NOT SAFE FOR BIKES, recently my brothers bike was stolen. This was locked with a bike lock, staff informed us that they wouldn't release the CCTV footage with a formal police report. If Rochdale Leisure Centre are aware that theft in there parking is happening, this should be noted on the website or BEFORE anyone prepays for service. If there are rising crime levels happening people who are paying to use the services, or traveling should be notified.

Fantastic experience: Come here often for childrens swimming lessons. Staff are very helpful even when busy. The building is always clean!

Fantastic experience: Excellent changing rooms & showers. Very good for swimming I've not done anything else here so can't comment on the other facilities, though it all looks clean and modern.

Fantastic experience: Great Gym compared to others in the area. Always feels clean and never overcrowded. Only downside is a few machines are broken and some people tend to sit on weight machines for ages when they clearly aren't using them. Staff nice and friendly.

Positive experience: Clean area, staff helpful. Website is a load of rubbish though. Very difficult to book things online. They have type 2 electric charging but it is a bit expensive.

Negative experience: The staff is unhelpful and rude, people who are benefit if they want discounts the say we are busy come another time and they charge full amount, ladies only swimming pool they keep making it small so you have no space for for swimmer, discusting ROCHDALE SWIMMING POOL AND PEOPLE.
