Negative experience: Gym isn't bad on a whole. The ridiculous parking fines is more the problem, no signage in the gym stating you will be fined if you come at certain hours. Nothing mentioned when signing up or on any website, boycotted after 10 visits and 600 quid later....

Positive experience: Driving g past didn't go in
Negative experience: Outdated, frustrating, poor equipment. Go to jd gyms instead. The equipment, design and operation of this gym is so poorly thought through. It's not a debate... it's just rubbish. The amount of space in that gym is so underused with lots of partition walls for really no reason. This is another gym with way too much space handed over to lines of cardio machines taking loads of room at the expense of what more customers want to do now we're not in the early 2000s: weight training, calisthenics, non-treadmill fitness. There is a small what looks like a 'functional' room, which weirdly has no 'functional' equipment in, it's just a partitioned area which takes up more room than it should do just to have a wall. The free weights area is without doubt, absolutely rubbish. Crammed in benches, poor quality barbells, a barbell rack hidden in the corner so you have to navigate the benches in between sets (yeah, the trap bar was an ordeal to get it out of that area) not enough squat racks, very few lighter dumbbells. Just woeful, really woeful. The studio for classes takes an enormous footprint, so when classes are on and you want a little bit of space you're out of luck, and when they're not on it's a massive empty space you can't really do anything with: you shouldn't have to wheel in equipment and dumbbells halfway through the gym, so it ends up dominating the footprint which could be used to expand the weights area which eould be used so much more over the day than the classes. The rest of the equipment...boxes are tatty and tired, there aren't any decent pull up or dip bars, they have the weird rubber plasticky encapsulated bars which are slippy. Again, no reason - you could've easily put metal bars with a bit of grip on, but no. This gym is dire, it's incredibly poor value compared to jd gyms with more space and better equipment and it's pretty much the same price - trust me on this, unless you really really have to go to this location, there is no reason to spend your money here, you'll get a better workout elsewhere. It's so disappointing that gyms are still like this, the crossfit effect has for some gyms offered a much better way of gym layout, better equipment and fits where most people under 40 are now at with fitness. This gym looks like it got some of the memo with the really important bit missing. Ugh.

Negative experience: Staff walk past and dont even say hello, showers are cold, can't email the gym via app and when emailed directly from personal email account the email comes back as blocked. Been to other Puregym locations where they do say hello and acknowledge your existence, can email them and they do have hot water for showers.

Positive experience: I used to train at much smaller independent places but have joined Pure for price and convenience. It's not too bad at all. I always see staff being very friendly and sociable, and I got handed a free energy drink mid session the other day. I personally would like more deadlift platforms as theres only one, and I can't seem to find a hamstring curl machine, but other than that the equipment and facilities are great. I question whether or not they have air con or just don't like putting it on?! But for the price, brilliant tbh

Positive experience: Decent gym, it gets busy FAST, would recommend going during the weekday, but either early morning or late at night, as it gets quieter during those times

Positive experience: I’ve been attending this gym for quite a few years but not until recent months I’ve noticed a decline in the gym up keep, hardly no hooks for the cable machines now either, you’ve gotta go hunting for these. Not enough squat racks available, majority of people end up sitting on equipment for ages sat on their phones! If you go at a busy time it’s quite hard to have a decent workout. Staff are always friendly but with the amount of them on at some points you’d think the gym would have better up keep. Might be time to look for a new gym.

Positive experience: Both myself and my wife loved going to the gym at Armley especially after they had new treadmill equipment fitted but now alas most of the equipment isn't working correctly so I must say it has dented our enthusiasm considerably. We have reported the complaint but to no avail. Such a shame and wasted money

Negative experience: Just thankful this isn't my local PureGym. For the sheer size of this place and the amount of unused cardio equipment, to have only 3 squat racks is ridiculous. My local PureGym which I go to regularly has about a quarter of the floor space, yet it has 5 squat racks. Meh.

Fantastic experience: Definitely a 5 rating!! It's a great place, shaped like a rectangle, with excercise machines on one side and weight machines on the other. It's upstairs, above the shops below (Cancer Research UK + Card Factory + etc) and it's exactly 27 steps to the Gym, from the door up. It's absolutely worth a visit, if you're interested!

Negative experience: Keep getting deals to go back to pure gym , this been my local and tbh even they don’t tempt me . Can’t really fault the staff at all but just not a fan of the gym in general . The layout isn’t great , seems to be too busy , can go there and spend more time waiting to use equipment than actually using it . Just something about the whole layout that puts me off .

Negative experience: Overall very poor gym. The only two good things about this gym are it's cheap & local. -Everytime we go to the gym it's a mess. Dumbells, plates, benches, kettle bells just thrown wherever. -Aircon is hardly ever on, so the gym is always boiling hot & stinks! -The music they play at the gym is awful. It's not the music you should be playing at a gym & it's played at such a low volume it's pointless even having it on. -Gym is full of students/young memebers that come in groups & just mess about stopping other memebers from working out. They've clearly had no induction when joining as they don’t have a clue what they're doing & are just going to cause injury to themselves. -One positive about the gym is most of the staff at the gym are extremely friendly & polite. Such as Adam, Luis, Dan, Michael, Lauren & Tamara. However there is one member of staff (Rachel) who is Rude, isn't very friendly & not very approachable & she spends majority of the time just walking around on her phone. -With the toilets it's pot luck if you're going to walk into them clean & smelling half decent or If it's like they haven't been cleaned for a month. I guess it all depends what cleaner is working that day if any at all!

Negative experience: It's cheap and close to my house. They're pretty much the only decent things about this gym. Over the last 6 months or so there have been 2 broken windows which took ages to fix and issues with the floor leaving a large part of the gym out of action. The floor still isn't fixed and had probably been like this for 2/3 months. Because it's cheap, it's oversubscribed so particularly in the evening it's really difficult to get free equipment to use. A lot of the lockers are broken too.

Negative experience: Will no longer attend and cancelled DD after what thier CEO said regarding a genocide. He believes a genocide is ok to happen. Will no tolerate this kind of behaviour.

Negative experience: I've rejoined PureGym and I really wish I hadn't. I went in tonight and it's boiling hot and stinks. One of the reasons I cancelled my membership last time is because I ended up working out on a hot day with no air con.

Temperatures/air con in our gyms are automatically regulated by Smart machines, but if there is a persistent issue staff may be able to override it and can certainly report it to be checked by engineers. Negative experience: 50% of the treadmills broken. Nipped in for a quick treadmill interval session. Packed to the rafters so couldn't get on a working machine so drove to Bramley instead. Fix your machines when they break.

Negative experience: Only 1 Olympic barbell and platform but it was out of use, disappointing compared to other pure gyms, rather small couldn’t imagine it at peak times, plenty cardio machines though

Negative experience: The gym is overly crowded by folks who just turn up for the sake of it. The instructors in this gym are idlers and u will see them gossiping and not doing much to assist. Its pathetic I have since began going elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: I'm so glad I made the right choice. I was welcome as soon as I entered. All the workers Every worker is just available for anyone that needs them. They make you feel at ease. They make everything feel easy with smiles. The whole place is clean and hand sanitisers everywhere. I didn't want to go at the beginning but now I can't stop. Well done puregym. I will definitely refer anyone to go. The classes are fabulous ✅️

Positive experience: love going here and doing loads of weights and getting absolutely ripped however i will drop 1 star as ppl keep bringing their kids and squeezing them in the entry booths with em so now i cant get changed coz theres always a kid in there getting showered and it makes me feel like a p3do

Fantastic experience: Treadmills placed by windows so you can see outside make doing any walking and running easier. Changing facilities are good. Weight parts are good too. As a woman i feel okay and not intimidated by the machines. Actually feel safe in the gym

Fantastic experience: So I moved house back in 2020 so this review is a little late but I'm looking at new gyms in the area I live now and there are only 2 realistic options: one of them is ludicrously expensive and the other is riddled with reviews of people saying they've been messed around when they've come to cancel their membership and it just made me think back to my time at PureGym Kirkstall Bridge. It was just such a reliable gym. Good amount of machines, benches etc, good people, fantastic PT staff. I remember Luis in particular was super motivational in classes but even just on the gym floor, he'd take the time to say hi and see how you were getting on. When the time came where I needed to cancel my membership, it was effortless and stress free. Fantastic experience: A truly fantastic gym that owes a lot to the staff taking care of it. The space is always clean and tidy, even in the more chaotic hours of the day. Great atmosphere. Equipment is typically available - even if it's 7pm and the squat racks are taken, you can always find something else to get into while you wait. Solid team, great chat and always appear to be on the ball.

Positive experience: Great gym atmosphere good too disabled shower no where to hang bag clothes flooded the other week too then knocking on door not ideal .. apart from that all is good classes could be better for full time workers ..

Staff do undertake regular maintenance checks and work hard with our providers to ensure that our facilities is fixed as soon as possible, if anything should be broken. We are equally as disappointed when this happens and sometimes need to wait on engineers but will have all equipment in full working order as soon as is safely possible. Fantastic experience: For the first time in about 10 years I’d stepped foot into a Gym. I recently stopped drinking alcohol everyday after 7 months of non stop. After I did a detox program I decided that I am unhealthy and needed to improve my health. I looked at pure gym & decided I’d take the second step to recovery. I was expecting to feel slightly intimidated with bodybuilding people, It was far from. The people in the gym (not staff) were amazing and give me tips on how to improve my workout routine & to gain more confidence in myself.

Fantastic experience: I was training at this gym recently, and just like my PureGym in Glasgow, it has a wide variety of equipment that meets my needs. I have a hidden disability, which means sometimes I may need additional support, and all the staff I met were friendly and willing. Special mention to the manager Clare, who was really friendly and helpful in my short time at the gym. Will definitely train there when I am in Leeds next.

Fantastic experience: Been going here for a few years now and it's a great place to train ! It has definitely improved in the last year or so too Changed the layout about 6 months ago which has really opened up the weights space and added some new equipment Early morning you'll see the cleaning team do a thorough job, and staff/PT's are always friendly walking round cleaning equipment or putting weights away (my only wish is that they called people out more often for this!)

Fantastic experience: Great gym, plenty of decent equipment. Even when it's super busy after work still enough for everyone. The classes are really good too, the trainers there are great. I highly recommend the spinning classes. Best value gym around and also the best with the amount of classes at different times.

Positive experience: Yeah.....I got a text to say face coverings must be worn. So I did! I must have got the incorrect memo because there must have been 3 people out 67 that entered in one! Not sure this sudden change in rules is going to get through to people I'm afraid!

We are responding to new guidance from the government around the wearing of masks in England. As it is only guidance in England, staff have no authority to ask members to leave for not wearing them nor can we actively enforce it since it remains an option for the public/members when in gyms. We have made it mandatory for staff to wear them to further encourage members to wear them but ultimately until/unless it becomes law in England, members will have discretion over wearing them in branch. Negative experience: No toilets, No changing rooms. There is literally 1 bench press, the gym is overcrowded with equipment so you can not social distance, let alone barely walk through the weight area, they allow far too many people in at once, no one cleans down equipment after using it, no cleaners on site, 1 member of staff away teaching classes, absolute lack of cable attachments.

PureGym Leeds Kirkstall Bridge does have changing rooms and toilets, when you come up the stairs if you turn left you towards the cycle studip they are on that side of the gym. We have implemented TrainSafe, which means all equipment is socially distanced, and the gym has a maximum capacity using the sqaure footage of the gym to ensure social distancing can be adhered in the gym. Members are required to adhere to the TrainSafe protocols and this is monitored by the gym team. If you have concerns about the equipment in the gym please speak to a member of staff who would be more than happy to discuss this further with you. Thanks, PureGym

Negative experience: Dirty gym managers just sit in office gossiping and are very rude and don’t take interest of customers that’s why me and my mates are leaving and it’s a very dirty gym

Negative experience: Clean and friendly. Poor atmosphere during the day. If there is any music on, it's way too quiet. My friends and I are thinking of leaving for this reason.

Positive experience: Dissappointing to see PT's leaving squat racks a complete mess after they and their clients have finished with them. Weight plates on the floor etc. Everything else is satisfactory in my humble opinion.

Positive experience: Cheap as I get a special corporate rate, but the cleanliness compared to other PureGyms I've been to is horrendous. People in the gym - extremely busy recently, with over 160 people in at one time week days after 1700.
