PureGym Didcot

Negative experience: very dirty structure, people using the machines without cleaning them afterwards, very dirty bathrooms. I am a new customer and very disappointed by the poor hygiene structure.

Fantastic experience: This place did not disappoint so far. They have high quality equipment, usually plenty enough to accommodate a bigger crowd. The place is in good shape, not ran down but gives off somewhat of a heavy use vibe.

Fantastic experience: It's got a good range of equipment and isn't too busy when I go.

Negative experience: Unfortunately gym is too small for amount of people signed up… I’m weight lifting girl and like benches to lift free weights. Every time I walk in there is no space at all. There is only 1 Biceps bench ….. Pure Gym needs to stop allowing sign people up to minimise overloading the gym …

Negative experience: Good selection of equipment but didn't feel very clean. Not many people using the cleaning equipment, when it could be found. Very off atmosphere. Prefer other options in the area.

Fantastic experience: The gym is clean and the trainers are friendly and helpful. I spend lots of time at this gym and its such a pleasure to work out here. The classes by Luke and Craig are excellent. There is a good variety of classes, and it's great that there are weekday classes at 9.15 a.m. - perfect for attending after school drop-off. I love the Olympic weightlifting classes; it's great to have this opportunity to learn something new.

Perfectly timed sets with no time lost by modelling exercises during the 10second breathers. Kind words, helpful corrections and lots of encouragement. Excellent! Thank you

Positive experience: I have been wanting to write my own review of the gym for awhile and this is now the best time, before the new gym heads come into the gym and start their new year's experiment. Pros: Good location Good price Good size of the gym Good variety of free weights/cardio equipment. All the stuff I have listed on the pro side is what the strong points of the gym very well, I am amazed how big it is with two floor level building that has massive selection of things you can do. My personal criticism however is, do NOT go at busy times, if you go when it is mostly busy you are going to have a fin time trying to get to do what you want. So try and go when it's quiet, for me because of my job and sleep schedule, I go to the gym 2/3am just before you get the crowd coming in roughly 5/6am. Plenty of time to get your work out done and you can use the any available blocks for showers! Cons: Shower/toilet rooms So whenever I am going to use the showers after having a workout, I have noticed each block (except the disabled one) has all got some amount of black mold up on the ceilings and shower cubes, has anyone not decided to get some mold removing spray to try and eliminate the mold spots? I am quite disappointed with this overall as it can affect health like mine with asthma conditions. Also speaking of disabled block (which I use the most) I have been getting some strong odour smell inside, I assume it's the drain that hasn't been cleaned for awhile! But no mold at all due to some ventilation, not the best one mind you. But the showers are also warm compare to using the shower in the disabled block which it can be hottest one! No experience: Staff interaction Lift access for disabled users I haven't had the chance or need to interact with the staff in the gym, however there is usually two/three in during the day which is good number if needed for customer support, but they seem friendly, but they are always occupied at times which is fine. And if anyone comes in with a wheelchair, you can use the lift which it seems to have alot of space, very helpful. Overall: I do think this a great low budget price gym with great selection of choices, it is most of the time clean with friendly staff. Can things be improved? They can sure, but it depends on what happens. I am going to stick to doing 2/3am sessions instead of during the day, so I can enjoy the low amount of crowd gatherings. There is also PT's in the gym that can get you started and also a notice board testimonial to know who they are and what experience they have when it comes to fitness. This rating gets 4/5.

Negative experience: Poor gym, rude people at the gym, your the first at the gates, you open it with your ID, and they just push you aside. Staff seem to encourage this behaviour, as when they're informed they do nothing about it. I would rather not entre a gym and be physically pushed aside when i open the gates.

Fantastic experience: Parking isn't nearby, that's the only glitch

Positive experience: Cracking little gym. Not as comprehensive a kit provision as some of the larger Pure Gym outlets but having said that, there's more than enough to get you where you need to on your fitness journey. The staff are friendly and approachable too.

Fantastic experience: Very helpful staff! Came for a day pass with a friend. Unfortunately my own puregym pass doesn't allow me to attend gyms which are more expensive than mine... something I didn't know! The staff allowed me to enter for a one off. Well kept, good selection of free weights, machines and cardio machines. Great value for money

Positive experience: + Friendly & knowledgeable staff + Great range of equipment that's very well maintained + Cheap for what you get - Toilets can be a bit unhygienic - Music selection is a bit dead - Can get ridiculously busy

Negative experience: I went to gym very positively and went out with depression..I had to listen an hour of conference call instead of music on speakers. That's really not what I wanted.

Positive experience: Decent equipment, decent studio. Smells a little. Still busy on weekends. Good for the price.

Fantastic experience: A good gym is open 24hrs and a nice shower with hot water but if more than 2 showers are available, that will be great and one last thing a request to many people who are using their phone in the gym and wasting out and others time while occupying a space or seat or bench ,plz change your habits..

Positive experience: Free parking? There is no free parking unless you go before 8am or 8pm. On the positive side, the gym is clean and people seem friendly so overall 4 stars. As an improvment you could add some signs as where the changing rooms are and a water fountain to fill up a bottle... just to push it... you could add an elevator in case someone does a heavy leg session.

Fantastic experience: Clean and tidy. Seems large enough to have plenty of space regardless of how busy it is. I often train past 10pm and I've found during my few trips here that it's a good gym with plenty of different machines and equipment for a good varied workout

Fantastic experience: Good, clean puregym, near a bus stop, so it's easy to get to. It's generally younger people there, and they've all been respectful of personal space and wiping down machines once they're finished with them. The bathroom/shower cubicles are always clean when I've used them. There is a lift to get upstairs if you need it, and the bathrooms/showers are all upstairs, but I don't know if you need a staff member to operate it.

He had great Combat Clas (unfortunately they are not available anymore). Great Dance Class with Leanne - I love her, always full of energy and smile. Highly recommended this place.

Negative experience: Very rude staff. Worst gym I have been to. One staff member just claimed a kicked the front door when I didn’t and then threaten me by saying he can check the CCTV cameras. Never going back. That’s not the way you treat your clients.

Fantastic experience: Lockdown has had its drawbacks and timber has been added which needs to be lost. The gym is the answer. Easy to sign up online and manage your membership via the app. The gym is very good, cleaning stations available. Tne equipment is well maintained. Staff are very friendly and supportive. Plenty of workout options in the app as well. Easy to scan in and out with keyless entry. Open 24 hours.

Negative experience: Surprisingly pretty good inside changing review to 1 stars though because its been over 2 years and they still don't have the plus membership benefits e.g. yang sports water and or massage facilites

But yeah cleanest gym I've ever been too

Fantastic experience: As someone who had never set foot in the gym I was terrified. Finally got up the courage to sign up and it was the best decision ever. The gym is clean and spacious, the staff are friendly and very helpful if you ever have a question and the app is so easy to use. You can even set up a workout on the app and it tells you what to do and how to do it (which is very helpful when it comes to the machines!) overall, I would recommend PureGym to anyone looking to join a gym :)

Positive experience: All you need from a gym, but another bench press would make it 5 star.

Positive experience: The equipment seemed good and the gym was quite clean. The entry system is clever, you scan a code on your phone or type in a number. However, when I was there few people were using face masks or wiping down the machines between uses. There also doesn't seem to be a great amount of ventilation and the windows are locked so you can't open them. As a nurse I am apprehensive to return except at quiet times. Probably after covid I will revise this review, but in the meantime it is a shame they do not have the in your face "masks must be worn between machines" that you get elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: Very clean with access to all equipment. It has always been a clean gym but they never used to have clean stations for people to wipe down the used equipment. Hopefully they will keep the cleaning stations after covid.

Fantastic experience: I mean if you want somewhere to go and take out all of your frustration, stress and anger from a long day and render you a sweaty aching mess then this is the place. I am still new to going to the gym but I certainly have become addicted and count down the days to when I am next able to go!

Positive experience: Parking you must be lucky to find space outside. Over crowded in peak times and mostly members are sitting on benches for hours just busy on phones Is over priced and much less equipments comparing to other pure gyms around. In most of other gyms groups of people are not allowed as they don’t let others to use equipment but sadly here no rules for that. Hygiene is a big issue no paper towel or disinfectant are provided , mostly benches are full from sweating. Very limited lockers are available and most of time you will need to put your stuff outside . To take shower or want to use toilet then you must be in queue waiting patiently specially in morning Otherwise gym is not bad . EDIT . Still overpriced than other pure gym arounds , parking still an issue but addition of new equipments and machine are really good and also cleaning really improved well done

Positive experience: Friendly and clean but can get very busy

Negative experience: Great gym only downfall is the hygiene toilets/showers aren't cleaned regularly enough, which is quite gross. Got sweaty people walking around and people with poor hygiene so its best to keep places like that cleaned so dodgy stuff don't spread.

Positive experience: I have just joined it's very reasonable price wise, machines work well the staff are nice and friendly and there is a great choice of classes. I would only say it is a bit hot in there and you do need to bring your phone as you can't watch tv on the machines
