Fantastic experience: It is fun

Negative experience: Place is terrible. Most staff aernt helpful. Memberships for gym and swimming is just overpriced. Machines in gym never seem to work right, there's always problems. Most of the gym is just treadmils and bikes anyway so not much to choose from. Swimming lessons for kids has now gone up loads per month out of nowhere after kids have been going for years, just completely not worh it as staff just talk to each other through the whole 30 minute weekly lessons anyway, so it's literally only 5 minutes of bad teaching for nearly 30 quid a month, per child. Had many issues with staff over time. They cancelled my gym membership after I've been going for years and didn't tell me until I went to go in, told me the price has gone up, and that I can't pay it today with no reason, so I had to pay nearly thr same as a months subscription for an hour in the gym. Whole place is a joke

Positive experience: The staff are lovely and the sports hall is great for fitness classes. There is plenty of parking and the facilities are good.

Fantastic experience: Excellent amenities including pool gym sauna and steam rooms also plenty of activities are arranged

Fantastic experience: We went swimming this morning and I have to say the place has definitely improved since last time ! Water temperature is much warmer (last time I went with a baby it was freezing). Much cleaner and organized. Pool is relatively warm now which makes it comfortable for me and kids . Sauna and steaming room are a great bonus !

Positive experience: Used to use this place around COVID times.. visited last week for the first time in 3 years and was disappointed The gym equipment is tatty now, the showers maybe worse.. seemed to be around 10 staff members but no idea why they need that many... Especially as they just seem to be chilling...

Positive experience: Not the cleanest changing rooms and showers. People using the steam room then not showering before getting in the pool . This has happened on every visit yuk. Gym equipment good but if you look at the bases or floor full of dust hair. Surely the area and equipment should be cleaned daily. Positives lovely staff, great range of gym equipment. Lovely pool...

Negative experience: Silly rules regarding swimming 1 parent per child for children under 8 regardless of whether they can swim. Despite the fact that my children used to go to this centre for swimming lessons...

Fantastic experience: We took our grand daughter for a swim now that she has passed her rookie lifesavers coarse with flying colours. Nice warm water. The floors in the changing room area could have been cleaner. Great pool.

Positive experience: Everything you would expect from a sports centre however no recycling facilities. I was advised by the staff to throw the empty plastic bottle in the waste bin. I took it home to recycle. Very disappointed, I expect more from a council run facility.

Positive experience: Great facilities for most physical activities I use the gym and swimming pool weekly, lots of free parking here but the pool can get busy at times - affordable facilities and very clean

Negative experience: my body is covered in bumps/lumps. they have swelled slightly and some are painful. i do not recommend if you care about your legs. i’m currently waiting to get medication to fix them. clean. your. pools. please. ps i put my foot down and there was something hard on the floor.

Positive experience: The leisure centre boasts many activities within the sports hall & pool. Staff are friendly & helpful. My daughter started a trial of swimming lessons over the summer holidays & showed instant progress with her swimming skills! She now attends lessons full time & has already recieved her Stage 1 certificate & badge! It makes a huge difference to see the instructors actually in the water with the children supporting them & giving them confidence. The leisure centre itself is modern & clean. The pool is a good size with 2 saunas & a Gym upstairs overlooking the pool. The only reason it lost 1 star is because the changing rooms & showers are shared/ mixed so as a woman or child there isn't much privacy. Also it is near impossible to wash your child's hair after a swim lesson without getting your clothes & footwear soaked due to the showers spraying all over the place. That one wasn't thought through properly. Other than that I can't fault the place. I can only thank the staff for my daughters progress so far!

Positive experience: been going here since i was a kid. nothing much has changed but why fix what's not broken. Great facilities - gym, pool, sports hall etc. saunas aswell at back of swimming pool. sports hall used for a range of activities, recommend zumba on a Wednesday dinner time!

Positive experience: Brought the kids here for to swim during the school holidays. Place was packed but that was to be expected so not an issue. Water was very cold though, to the point the kids kept saying they were cold. Only 1 of the 4 showers worked. Family changing rooms where locked, so me and the Mrs had to split up and take kids each to get dressed etc which is difficult when you have a baby and there is nowhere to put them. Price for swimming was pretty good to be fair, lockers cost 20p and plenty of parking.

Positive experience: Open till 3pm on Bank holidays. Quite a small gym, equipments aren’t very well maintained. Offers adult swimming classes

Negative experience: There are 3 main elements to the centre which are the swimming pool, the gym area and the classes. The membership fees are based on the expense of maintaining the pool. If you use the pool regularly then you’ll get your money’s worth. It may also be worth paying the price if you make use of the numerous exercise classes included in the price. If, like me, you mainly just want to use the gym area (particularly the CV equipment) then there are certainly better equipped gyms in town for a cheaper membership fee. There are only 6 treadmills here, all pretty old, and it’s sometimes difficult to get on them. Very annoying. Some of the equipment has been out of use for months. It’s in need of modernisation and, if possible, expansion, with more CV machines of a better quality to justify the fees. I use this gym for convenience (living close by) and for about an hour a days use. If I get more serious about my fitness I’d have to consider moving elsewhere for a cheaper fee and better equipment.

Fantastic experience: Great pool and facilities

Negative experience: Poorly maintained. Needed to dry my daughter's hair and 2/4 hair dryers are missing the hoses. Poor decisions too, with a large poolside seating area never used, forcing parents to sit beside the vending machines (conveniently for the profits) in a space where you cannot see your child having their swimming lesson.

Negative experience: My membership fee has just been increased by more than 30%, This might have been more acceptable if the machines are working most of the time. As it is some have been out of action for months and others for weeks. Yesterday there were at least 5 machines not working and others with missing information so you had to guess the in between weights.

Fantastic experience: I really like Queens Park. The staff are friendly, the pool is a decent size and the Freestyle Fitness classes are great, especially Glow and Aquarobix. There’s a really nice atmosphere too.

Positive experience: Swimming has gone up to £5.20 wow! I've been coming here for years and the staff are always nice and helpful, facilities always clean enough but seems St.Helens Council are upping prices left, right and centre while the town gets worse and worse. You can only ever swim half the pool anyway because there's constantly classes on.

Negative experience: Went for a swim. Could be cleaner with the cubicles looking like they aren't checked at all

Positive experience: Treadmill broke for over a month. Tv signal not working on 2 Treadmills & one exercise bike for at least last 8 weeks.Free weights worn. No sign of repairs being made.

Negative experience: AVOID I am not local in the area but travel to st helens frequently so i am a member of this gym. I turned up this evening and accidently forgot my wrist band. I turned up and was rejected access into the gym, even though i am a member and on their system. I explained i dont live local so "popping home" for the band isnt an option. To be told i wasnt alllowed into the gym unless i paid for another band??? The gym is small, dirty & outdated with very old equipment. I am sure am not the only one that has forgot my band. So avoid this gym and the desks poor attitude towards their paying members. Will not be returning!

Positive experience: Nice place but can get really busy in the pool, water sometimes quite murky, changing rooms cold and not always that clean, if they sorted these things out it would be 5 stars.

Negative experience: I understand the pool is busy but when the staff have bad attitude and tell you different things , been comming for years and the service has normally been good. But on this occasion it was dreadful, when told to come back in 40 mins and go do something elsewhere. When i arrived back the most snotty arrogant women I've ever met in my life saying that it's my fault when I've done when her member of team told me to do it. No commication. Poor service.
