Plas Arthur Leisure Centre

Fantastic experience: It was the first time I'd been to Plas Arthur but it has everything you need @ a leisure centre. Big sports hall, gym, swimming pool. Not sure if they have a café? Easy parking. All good

Negative experience: Phoned the night before about public swimming, told it was between 1&2pm and we didn’t need to book just turn up. Got there before 1 and found out that you had to book!! Plus we tried to book online but couldn’t as you need a membership number even though the site says not needed. Altogether, extremely disappointing and dreadful communication causing upset to my child and other peoples who were told the same thing!

Negative experience: Rang yesterday to enquire about the public swim. We were told it was 1-2pm. We then asked if we needed to book or if we just turn up and pay on the day. We were told to just turn up. So we did just that only to be turned away at the door because we 'should have booked'. If we had been told that on the phone yesterday, then we would have done so!

Fantastic experience: Not too bad. I'm taking part in the NERS program to try to build some strength, so I am only using the fitness room, but Richard and Carol, a couple of the coaches, are fantastic. I've made good progress.

Negative experience: Teacher doesn't teach or motivate. Absolutely nothing. Complete waste of money and negative effect on child's swimming.

Fantastic experience: This is is local to me and provides really good sports facilities for the community around it. The gym is provisioned with well maintained equipment, and the pool area works well. Outside are floodlit football pitches and a skate park. It was obviously built in the 1980s and so feels a little dated, but, don't let that put you off your training

Negative experience: The pool is always cold, even when the disability swim sessions is on. Not good for those with joint issues. Temp (or lack of it) has been mentioned to staff on numerous occasions.

Positive experience: Great facilities theoughout. Really poor public swim availability unfortunately, I thought the public swim times were listed as incorrect on the website but they really are that limited. Shame really because the small pool is ideal for such young children but the timetable makes it difficult.

Negative experience: Terrible, due to covid restrictions you have to book online, tried booking 8pm-9pm (the quietest time of the day) this slot is always fully booked, its not available on any day for the next 2 months, and this is the only slot fully booked, how is this possible, it also states on the website to call if you have issues, I have called numerous times through the day, not once has anyone answered the phone, not 1 single time, so I went into the centre to book in person, I was told I had to book online and was told to try at about half 7pm as people usually cancel, why let people book and cancel when it's restricted, being fed up of this I just turned up at 8:20pm, the woman on the till said they had 1 slot free and i got into the gym, there was only about 5 people there at this time, which is the usual, by 9pm I was the only one left and the guy cleaning told me my time was up, even tho the gym is meant to be open till 9:30 and I hadn't had my allowed hour, seems pretty obvious the staff are the ones to book out the last slot so people can't go and they can clean and clock off early, also they still charge full price for restricted or no access and make you feel unwelcome when they want to close even when you're within the time

Fantastic experience: I only used the swimming pool and found it very good. I did see the exercise rooms and they looked very well equipped for all sorts of exercises.

Positive experience: New skatepark is decent. The layout of it isnt amazing but you can still do good lines. The leisure centre itself has a good pool

Positive experience: Good swimming pool and sports court. The cafe is alright, could be some more healthy food but I appreciate the change and effort that has been made. It would be useful for there to be somewhere to sit that isn't the boiling balcony above the swimming pool or the cafe as there are only 4 chairs otherwise that are usually full. This means when waiting for people or taking family members to sports events it is an uncomfortable experience if you are not doing the sports yourself. Good sports facilities though.
