Positive experience: Hiya. I have just visited Eccleshill Swimming pool (not the gym) and have been with my family. This is my review: Good things: • a slide (very rare in swimming pools) • a spring board and 2 platform jumps •a hot baby pool • a huge main swimming pool •Very friendly staff (one male lifeguard with long brown hair helped me to find my goggles when they flew off on the slide he was lovely ) • a very secure environment ( when the many lifeguards were not on duty in the swimming pool they were patrolling the changing area instead) Things to improve on: • the hygiene of the main and little pool was needing some work (brown stuff at the bottom of the deep end, yellow scratches, paint shedding off the slide) • very small changing rooms, (very tight) • the water tasted awful (slightly salty for some reason) • I felt as though the place was not hyginic with bits of mud and other stuff on the floor. • Main pool was freezing. Overall the experience was ok but I don't think I will be visiting again. X

Positive experience: Good pool, staff are generally nice except for the ginger-haired female receptionist as she likes to shout and embarrass you. One thing I don’t understand is why the ladies swim sessions on Fridays are not allowed in at least 15 minutes before swim time. They only let you in 5 minutes before. They talk about child protection as there’s a parent and kids session before but when these parents and children are still in the changing rooms, how does this make sense? Ladies toilets are filthy. They could do a good job with scrubbing the showers and tiles and everywhere in the changing rooms. However, as mentioned it’s a decent pool and most of the staff are really nice and it’s conveniently located and the sessions are perfectly timed and therefore can’t fault them on that.

Positive experience: Great and convenient but just need more discipline when idiots use the pool when people are there for exercising they don’t want to be splashed on. The staff need to tell these people off more. As it happens weekly.

Fantastic experience: We came here today as a family for the first time in a few years. We thoroughly enjoyed the slide and diving boards. As it wasn't very busy we stayed in for over an hour and a half which was great. Staff were friendly and helpful. We look forward to coming back.

Fantastic experience: I absolutely love this pool, I mean, a few things could be touched up, but it's great to swim in. I'd forgotten how big it is. I live in London, so use this pool when visiting family. It got pretty busy over the Xmas holidays, and the lane swimming was cut short, I didn't care, I felt very nostalgic.

Positive experience: It could do with some work to modernise the poolside area. The slide looked a bit aged especially with the paint flaking off. However the pool itself looks pretty well kept and recently done. Clean enough.

Negative experience: Disgusting smells takes forever rude staff. When I had my first swimming lesson I fell in the water and they just stranded there if I was the manager I would fire them o the spot

Fantastic experience: It's always a joy to visit the gym, especially when Zori, the fitness instructor, is in. She's always friendly, smiling, helpful, and knowledgeable. The gym is spotless and people comply with keeping the machines clean after use.

Positive experience: I go there with the family to swim. The big pool is quite cold so I always skip it and use my 5year old as an excuse to swim in the small one which is nice and warm. There are quite several showers to wash down after swimming and it's hot. It's quite cold when you come out of the pool so the hot shower makes it. There are toilet facilities as well as numerous changing rooms with a locker if you have a pound which you get your £1 back when you replace the key. My son once forgot his swim shorts and they gave him a spare one. Nice place to sign up with the family.

Negative experience: Very bad customer service very rude to my autistic kid

Positive experience: I swam here for the first time today. The staff were very helpful and the pool is well run. There are a multitude of options to cater for individuals or families. I look forward to swimming here again.

Negative experience: Disgusting! Despite being an adult, I wasn’t allowed to accompany my younger brother for a FAMILY swim. Only parents, grandparents and aunts/uncles. Where is the logic in this? Since when did this swimming bath get so ridiculous. Both of my grandparents are deceased, I don’t live with my dad, mums working and I don’t talk to any of my aunts/ uncle. Way to lose money during the summer

Negative experience: I’m beyond disappointed. I arrived with my brother for the family swim and was turned away instantly. After questioning them I was told that my brother was unable to go unless accompanied by an adult, then I responded with the fact that I am an adult and have been for 4 years. And he said that still wasn’t allowed. I think it’s ridiculous, I am a guardian of my 15 year old brother therefore I should be allowed to supervise him swimming.

Negative experience: My regular gym was close today, so I thought I would use my multi gym membership and visit this gym traveling 5 miles, checked the website and all seemed fine for me to just turn up. I arrive at the desk around 7 PM only to be a told despite being a council gym member for the last five years I need a 15 minute induction to use their equipment and that I had to come back another day for the induction . I asked to see this so called policy and after rummaging around for the best part of 10 minutes, one of the staff came back with a printed out slip with a one-liner on there. Not exactly an official policy if you don't put it on your website or terms of agreement, again my protest that I've been a member for over 5 years of the council clubactive gyms, a record of which your 7 pm staff today could have easily pulled up, fell on deaf ears. Questions for the gym: How am I as a customer supposed to know this is your policy if the first time I learn about it is when I am told by your 7 pm Tuesday staff? Also why is there no reference to this on your website? Why am I as a customer expected to learn this after traveling 5 miles? These are not a rhetorical questions by the way, as a paying customer I would appreciate and answer.

Positive experience: Grandson's have a good time here. It does get busy, and on our latest visit, the water temp was a bit low, but as long as you keep swimming, you're fine. Plus, all the floats were out to play with. Changing rooms clean & tidy and nice hot showers. We'll be back

Positive experience: Lovely pool just an issue with timings especially for the adults swim, staff should be poolside ready generally late in opening up but eager to get you out, lines should not be taken up until the swim has finished yet could be 5/10 mins before the end of a swim and they start taking the lines out, Shipley pool are always poolside ready and lines remain in until all swimmers are out maybe they could take a leaf out of Shipley pool.

Positive experience: Could do with an update

Positive experience: Best bits: large pool with decent size shallow end for kids still learning, diving boards, warm toddler pool, large changing area and best of all long sessions so you get value for money and don't feel under pressure to arrive or leave by a certain time. E.g. Sundays 10:00 until 15:00 at the moment for family swimming. Cons: it's a bit tired in places but that really doesn't bother me, slide is out of action.

Negative experience: So, I'm not a spoiled person. I am fine with stuff not being perfect. But this place was just absolutely disgusting. And people are complaining about the old hair dryers xD They may be old but they do their job at least. When I was there, the changing area smelled very unpleasant, the walls around the pool were old and crumbly, pool wall was damaged where you normally hold on to, the little vent under water had a massive green cone around it (algae I assume, I've NEVER seen this before in my life), I'm sure there isn't enough chlorine in the water. The showers are nice and hot but I've seen many drain flies and the drains smelled of rot. I guess those pictures have been taken before it turned into the crack den of swimming pools. My local swimming pool is Narnia comapred to this one. Very sad, I hope they do something about this soon, for the local swim enjoyers.

Positive experience: Really good swimming pool, cheap prices for a family swim. Gets rather busy tho at peak times, baby pool is really warm, big pool is freezing! 3 dive boards and a slide but it's shut at minute due to covid. Lots of showers available. Lots of lockers, but remember your quid! Toilets are in need of a good scrub! Lots of cubicles to get changed in and lots of baby friendly ones too. Plenty of staff on site at all times and theres even things for swimming to buy at reception is Google's, nappies, swim floats etc. Car park is big too. On a fair few occasions I've been and there has been the odd anti social behaviour so just be weary when your there with young kids some adults need to learn to not swear in public too not fair on every one going for a family fun day spoils it.

Positive experience: I’ll be honest it’s a decent pool 33 meters is good distance for training in but the water is always too warm and over the last few years I’m almost positively certain that the only times I’ve got ill is after swimming in this pool. It’s not the cleanest feeling place in the world and is too much of a coincidence that I’d contract an illness every time I’d return to swimming here after having a break or living away.

Positive experience: Before covid it was a great place to go an relax and swim with great facilities an great staff would easilybe 5 stars. You have to now book online an follow some good clear procedures which are not an issue at all. The real problem is the swim you can't relax when you're constantly looking ahead to make sure your not about to over take someone or looking back to make sure that you haven't slowed down effecting the person behind you. Sadly had to get out after about only 15 minutes and cancel the next week slot
