Fantastic experience: Great pool good atmosphere social place

Positive experience: Compared to the prescot location this gym is a million times better I like how there's 2 floors and I love all the machines and downstairs you have some classics such as the leg press. However I feel like this gym is always way to crowded no matter what time you come in I would also say there is a massive issue with broken equipment and machines at this facility. You can't complain with it being so cheap but I hope to see some improvements and new machines. I would just like to say aswell every volair gym I've been too the staff never bother you like some others and let you just crack on what is great to see.

Negative experience: Precarious Gym. There is a lack of equipment and there is always broken equipment. Very bad times for those who want to train in the morning. I will leave the gym and go to PuryGym...

Positive experience: for UK standards it's even clean They could finally fix the steam sauna

Fantastic experience: Great place always welcome by the staff and the facilities are world class.

Negative experience: Can't get chlorine levels right. Nasal irritation for days afterwards

Positive experience: Pleasant little gym, can get busy but not for too long. Nice and clean, staff work hard. Only downside is the music, loud enough to be hard through my noise cancelling headphones and despite the demographics consisting of those over Pension age it seems more suited to a club.

Positive experience: Fpr the money you pay it is a bit run down. Lock broken in tpilet/ no loo roll/ bike kept failing/ cracked bases on machines/ they need to invest in fixing it up. It's nice from the outside but the detail fails them

Fantastic experience: Great place to be!

Positive experience: Very busy Gym and Swimming because it's summer Holidays. Café on site is very busy so constantly running out of food options. Very limited stock. A lot of people have been turned away. I've had membership for over a year but don't think it's good that the gym is very busy, I had to queue to use equipment as they were all in use. Swimming pool needs expanding due to it being very overcrowded as I couldn't swim due to the amount of people in the lane. Needs sorting ASAP. Also don't expect steam room to be open, it's been closed for at least 6 months! No sign of it being fixed any time soon.

Negative experience: This place is an absolute nightmare to get in touch with, trying to rearrange an induction is like trying to speak to god! Numerous times I have rang, phones ring and ring with no answer, or you get through to an answer machine, leave a message for no one to get back to you, finally after two days calling got to speak to an actual person this morning who tried putting me through to someone else, phone rang and rang then was cut off, spoke to someone on the “live chat” I’m given an email to contact a lady, sends my email, an get an instant response saying she is out of office till 13th May, not sure if this is next May or this past May! How frustrating just to rearrange something that you can’t attend, I actually feel like giving up now! What a joke!

Positive experience: Great facilities, spacious, lots to do. Small pool could be warmer but wasn't freezing.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic team on the 28th June. I had needed a place to keep my bike as I had forgotten my lock and team members were very understanding and kept it in a secure place. Otherwise would have a been a wasted trip to the gym.

Negative experience: Dirty, staff have bad attitudes, opening times change depending on who you ask(or the staff just say i dont know!)lockers don't lock...

Negative experience: I’d say around 80% of the time the cleanliness of the pool is sub-standard but has been getting worse recently and today was the worst I’ve ever seen it. Bottom of the pool is just covered with filth, it was so bad I left early. The staff know about this because you can see it easily from outside the pool. If I had to guess I’d bet this is an issue with management/ not enough time being allocated for pool maintenance outside of opening hours as the staff are usually good at keeping on top of other aspects of cleanliness. Either way it’s just really disappointing to see an otherwise decent pool in such a shocking state.

Positive experience: Went here today only here for 2 hours and everyone had to be evacuated due to fire alarm going and something happened in the spa bit they said it would be closed now for the rest of the day they where amazing looked after everyone here good

Negative experience: Dirty showers, cubicles have no locks, not enough gym staff, female reception staff are most unhelpful

Fantastic experience: Lovely sport centre, lots to do, great gyms and 2 pools. Other things going on there every day and really child friendly areas too.

Fantastic experience: I'd lost my pass, having not been there for 8 months, resolved in seconds £2 for a new card. The gym equipment had two items out of use, but it's getting refurbished starting 17th January 2024, so I'll try to update shortly.

Positive experience: I go to the gym here which had a recent upgrade to the free weights section. I only use the barbells and squat racks so was happy to see they've now got 4 in total. Sad to see the assisted pull up/dip machine go, since that was an equipment a lot of people used. I go at 8 pm when it's really quiet so usually don't have to wait around for equipment, but at busy times be prepared to wait around. The swimming pool is okay since I only go when it's adult-only so it's quite quiet. The changing rooms can be disgusting though with litter and people wearing dirty shoes into them.

Fantastic experience: Lovely staff, approachable, and always ready to help. I love the positive vibe from them and the fact they make you feel welcome. Place is spotless, And lots going on for children.

Negative experience: I have been coming to this gym for a good few years now and tonight, the manager on shift, I believe is named Andy (refused to give his name) had shouted at me while in the shower (a woman and naked) to get out and “do one” because he wanted to lock up. The pool is open till 10pm and staff are paid to 10:30pm so why am I being shouted at? Because he wants an early dart? He has apparently only been here a few weeks and quite frankly, should not be here any longer. He said he does not care as he has done a 10 hour shift. I have sent a message on their website and await a response but please be warned that this attitude is unacceptable.

Fantastic experience: It's an amazing place and has a fantastic outdoor Velodrome

Positive experience: Visited for the first time to watch panto. Staff were really friendly helpful professional and kind. Particularly the mixed race lady who worked behind the bar. I noticed that its not a multicultural or diverse area.

Fantastic experience: Went to Michael Head. Brilliant night really nice as a music venue and great sound and staff. Could do with card payment on the bar though.

Negative experience: Too busy. Useless WiFi and a black hole for signal and Internet

Fantastic experience: Excellent concert on friday should have more so handy without having to go into town

Positive experience: Staff are friendly enough and the pool is clean as is the changing room, however when I have finished my swim session I'm very bunged up as are some other swimmers, thus isn't in the main pool but the area for lessons/families.

Positive experience: It's ok... Probably not worth the membership fee. Swimming changies are always filthy and the majority of gym equipment is really worn out or out of order.

Positive experience: Why on Earth are the people let to come with the shoes where the showers are and right next to the pool as well. It makes the floor so dirty that it's disgusting to watch. This shouldn't be allowed. Toilets are always very dirty, and so is the coffee area with its mucky tables and chairs. I can't comment on other than swimming classes - they are crowded as affordable but coached well. The gym area and the hall look good from behind the glass, but that's all I can say as I've not been further.

Fantastic experience: A big 5* for Scott Campbell, casual member of staff at Huyton. My brother in law and I have only been going to gym for a couple of weeks and Scott approached us with some sound advice, spent an hour with us and caught up with us again as we were leaving. As he was talking to us another gym member approached him to thank him for his advice, saying ‘my back didn’t hurt after you showed me how to use machine properly’. Scott was very complimentary about staff and classes. Pity regular members of staff are not as accommodating … in fact you rarely see them in gym! Big thank you to Scott.

Positive experience: Friendly and helpful front of house staff, great swim instructor in Sharon. Cheap and cheerful cafe and spacious waiting area. Good sized changing area.

Fantastic experience: It was very good, I have been there for a quick work-related visit and I did like it.

Negative experience: Not all, but most people on reception are utterly miserable & rude everytime I come in - even having conversations with other staff members about what they'll be doing when they get home, all whilst serving people! Never greeted with a smile, nor have I ever had good customer service - it's like you're invisible to them. Also, the younger male lifeguards are too busy talking to eachother and having 'banter' - I even overheard one laughing to another about a member of the public who was swimming - very sad and disappointing. Apart from this, I do enjoy coming as there are some nice members of staff, clean pool & changing rooms. The cafe is lovely and really fairly priced too.

Fantastic experience: Amazing experience. Kevin was great, my little girl was not very keen to do it but with his help she did it. I will recommend it 100%

Negative experience: The pool is a good size however the gym. Is very very dirty , machines are broken all the time and the air con and WiFi are not working... not seen a cleaner about for months and months ... where is the health side in that. For a subsidised gym by the local authority it is poor and very concerning.

Positive experience: Things have introvert over the last 6,mths, staff are more frendly, the sports Hall has a few water leaks but over all its great,,!

Positive experience: Almost everything was great except the squash court we went to use, there are several holes in the wall that have been poorly repaired with one repair that has new holes in it, although it didn't effect our game it looks terrible, it wouldn't take an hour by a professional to do a proper job fixing the holes and maybe a couple of hours to repaint just the section of the wall with repairs in, just between the lines. Come on Volair it's the small things that can make a big impression to customers.

Positive experience: Gr8 swimming baths and staff, but website is never updated to find out times for family smims of a Weekend as they seem to change so much, few times I've turned up now and my 3 kids have been disopointed as they can't have a swim due to times being changed and not updated, not good enough considering weekends are family time the times are ridiculous of a weekend for families!

Negative experience: On a plus…. Staff on front desk are really friendly and helpful. PT Mike is also a credit to the place. Now the rest. Poorly run & managed. Management main concern seems to be to stop people getting in 3 mins early, rather than it being safely staffed, maintained, tidy (equipment out back rather than strewn everywhere) & clean. Equipment often broken / out of service due to lack of maintenance…..oh and the prices have gone up when the standards have fallen and lack of staff (esp in the gym itself) is surely a health and safety issue

Fantastic experience: I’ve been using the Gym for a few months now. Nothing to complain. Very clean and staff is very friendly. It’s a small gym with few equipments thought. It can get very busy around 5pm-6:30pm. Nevertheless, for the price is an overall good facility.

Fantastic experience: I go there for swimming and both the main pool and training pool are immaculate. All the staff are helpful and nice and the price is not too bad for a swim either.

Negative experience: Bad place, the gym is old, a lot of rehab machine so is not a good gym to grow up your muscles, a lot of people talking and not using the machines properly. The toilets are dirty specially on weekends, the parking is full all the time and the manager is rude and useless

Negative experience: The place is like older and smell worse, no clean at all, the manager is very smaller rude, the parking is not enough sometimes, the toilet is dirty every single day and too expensive. Avoid this place

Fantastic experience: Easy to use website. Classes get booked up really quickly.

Positive experience: You would think that in this time of the year they would put the heat on in the pools but no they don't I wouldn't mind but was taken my grandson swimming an couldn't stay in long started crying because it was so cold

Fantastic experience: Love it. As long as my Fibro allows, I love going and it helps with my pain. Next week I'm going to try the pool with my pool 'weights' to do some exercises.

Positive experience: Enjoyable gym and swim busy at opening time 6.30am but still able to get a work out done before work with a nice steam and sauna after overall good for small workouts. Trying to get full work out done late morning or afternoon is a struggle as it is heaving and alot of people standing around socialising

Positive experience: The staff and the people are so relaxed and happy, the food outlet is not well stocked for the amount of people that visit there.

Negative experience: Swimming lessons are not appropriate just a waste of time for kids and loss of money for parents. Kids don't allow to progress whilst it is obvious that priority is given to other professional swimming teams that they seem to let the facilities! The kids although old enough to swim in the main pool continuously kept in the small pool and are not allowed to progress. I believe they have no idea of what swimming lessons mean!

Negative experience: Whilst the facilities look good, we did not have a pleasant experience. We were there for a dance competition. Half the car park, if not more, had been closed off to us as it was reserved for gym members. We'd paid over forty pounds to attend the competition and could not park. One gym member parked up in acres of space. Hundreds of competitors driving around the local area trying to find somewhere to leave their car! Staff seemed unable to cope with the number teams and competitors. "What? This is just one team!" Is just one snippet of an overheard comment. If the centre isn't wanting to accommodate competitors then they shouldn't take payment for hosting a competition. We will not attend competitions at this venue again.

Fantastic experience: Sign up was easy and done tai chi for the first time which as easy.... really disappointed I can't do aquasize on the afl programme as its the reason I signed up to it.

Positive experience: Staff friendly and extremely helpful. Pool is always clean and nice temp. Centre itself needs a good detail clean and a handy man to pick up odd jobs.

Negative experience: Tbh I’ve been using the gym a while but I’m not happy with the price point considering how small the space actually is, the outdated equipment and in general how far out it is in terms of location. But what made me stop going altogether was my last encounter at the gym. I could hear that another member discuss me with a fitness instructor/employee. What made it worse was them blatantly staring at me. I’m a 22 year old female and i don’t feel safe if that’s the type of men, that you choose to employ.

Fantastic experience: My friend booked a badmiton court and went in for the first time. Court was spacious and good. Enjoyed playing there. I did see that it has good swimming pool but have not been to the pool so couldnt comment on it.

Positive experience: It's not a bad gym I just felt uncomfortable.

Positive experience: Huge facility on a busy street with free parking, I liked the funky fish statue outside and it seems to have some great sports facilities but I was there to attend a children's dancing show so didn't have the opportunity to explore the building.

Fantastic experience: Amazing ! Super clean and kind employees ,super easy and quick hair ( hand) dyers dried my hair very quick ,cafe is amazing and good for parents were they can see your child . 100 % recommend

Positive experience: Its a pretty naff gym tbf, the classes are quite good, and its local but very limited equipment (only 2 rowers and one is broken!), much better gyms around for not much more money

Positive experience: Staff need to be aware that waiting 20 minutes to sign up is not acceptable and serving 4 different people who were behind me just adding insult to injury. No explanation of where changing rooms were, no explanation of whether or not you need a padlock/coin for the lockers and no mention that the changing area is mixed. It's such a pity because the pool was nice, it has lots going on for the local community and it is really close to me.

Fantastic experience: Staff lovely, waited for daughter usef the beauty room staff lovely had a nice time chatting and getting advise, went to cafe hsd a bit of a wait, but girl on her own, she done really well considering on her own no one complained because she was trying her best, and got the job done.

Negative experience: On Sat 26th the pool was suppose to be open till 1.45pm. When I arrived at 12.30 for a swim I couldnt get in as reception said it was over subscribed. I was also told that there weren't enough staff. Appaulling such a big facility shuts the pool at 1.45pm on a Sat and Sun when the kids are of school and people are of at weekends and want recreation time in the pool.

Fantastic experience: I was looking for a leisure centre to use and came up on Knowsley leisure centre. This is a fantastic place with a well organised time table of fitness classes, gym and swimming pools. The pools , showers and changing facilities are spotlessly clean.,with an on site café for refreshments and ample parking through put the day. It can be busy at peak times. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

Fantastic experience: Good pool, clean and lovely temperature. A couple more showers would be good but when I've been it's not been too busy so it's never been an issue

Fantastic experience: This is one of the most welcoming places in Huyton! Friendly atmosphere complimented by comprehensive sports facilities. The classes are well run and instructors are incredibly motivational whilst being mindful of individuals capabilities. The pool changing area could be better organised by zoning female and male sections for those who prefer a little more privacy... but the pool area is clean and allows diving at the deep end
