Negative experience: I do not recommend. They are a mess after the contract was terminated. Not only was an extra payment taken after the end of the contract, but they also filed a claim against me with a collection agency, although they took an extra month.I have not been able to solve the problem for the fourth month already.

Negative experience: The new fiscal changes are effective from 1st of April 2025, and yet the increase at the Gym is from 1st January 2025. The excuse to change the price is misleading. We can’t run our awesome clubs without our awesome people. Next year, National Minimum Wage will rise by at least 6.7% and National Insurance by 1.2%. So, to reflect the increasing costs of operating your ever-evolving fitness club, whilst rewarding our hard working teams, there’ll be a small increase to your membership fee for next year. Your monthly direct debit will increase from 1st January 2025 as follows: Subscription Type: *Gold Monthly Results New Monthly Price: £56.00

Positive experience: Great gym and equipment however it is insanely busy last 5pm on a weekday. Can't comment on VFM as I have only used it during hotel visits.

Fantastic experience: Tried Aggy Gray's stretch and tone class yesterday for the first time. To say I'm impressed is a total understatement! I booked immediately in again for the following week, and tried her stretch and relaxation class the following day....again, rebooked immediately! Very knowledgeable teacher, correcting positioning when needed which is refreshing. I can't recommend her classes enough. All ages and abilities, welcoming environment and fun! Looked on my app afterwards and hit the best workouts targets I've hit.....and I'm an avid gym goer! If your thinking about trying anything she has a hand to, do it immediately! You DEFINITELY won't regret it! Be warned though, you will go to everything she does straight after her first class!

Fantastic experience: Superb gym, bar and grill, Starbucks and swimming pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. Staff are friendly and keen to answer any questions, gym can get busy at times but theirs always room on something and most people will vacate the machine after a few sets if you let them know your waiting with no hassle at all. Everything seems clean and tidy and well looked after. Highly recommended giving it a try and after grab a beer and some food and watching a multitude of sports of the large TV's and comfortable sofas.

Fantastic experience: The Village gym is a very well equipt, clean and friendly gym. They offer Les Mills classes that are all so much fun and led by fantastic instructors that are all great at what they do. My favourite classes are Body Combat and Box N Burn, both are a great full body workout and I always feel like I have worked hard after doing them. The pool and spa area are also lovely for chilling or for additional classes. I highly recommend the village to anyone considering a gym membership as there is something for everyone!!

Fantastic experience: I have been a member at the Village gym Basingstoke for a few years (joined a year after it opened). The facilities are amazing, the gym equipment and awesome (there is all of the new stuff you would want in a gym), really nicely spaced out, the studios are great and modern, the air con is never an issue either which is uncommon these days. The gym instructors are awesome and the staff us super friendly and helpful. Changing rooms and showers are also great. I do not use the swimming pools myself, but my friends do and enjoy it there. Outside of the actual gym, there is a really awesome sports bar downstairs (which gives you a 25% discount when you are a gym member) as well as a lovely starbucks. Highly recommend, definitely the best in the area.

Fantastic experience: Really friendly staff and good facilities. It's a bit busy at times and can sometimes be hard to book classes but I enjoy the ones I do regularly. Aqua classes are fab (great instructors, especially Nicola) but Village need to control the numbers as more than 18 is too many. Tom is extremely helpful and very open to discussing any problems so most issues are resolved quickly. All in all a great club.

Fantastic experience: Great experience. Cleanliness great, especially Mel in the changing rooms keeping the loos and showers very clean and always see Sharon cleaning and hoovering in the gym inbetween the equipment and cleaning them down. Staff are friendly and helpful :)

Fantastic experience: Membership at The Village Gym in Basingstoke is great. There is such a huge variety of classes, including aqua in the pool, a brilliantly equipped gym and the bar area is sociable - always a fun vibe in there - there really is something for everyone. Fantastic experience: I've recently changed from a different gym to this one for their 24hr availability, I came in yesterday and spoke to a chap with a beard who was incredibly helpful, got me to fill in a form and in the morning I recieved a call back from Greg, annoyingly I missed the call and ended up speaking to Emily, both were fantastic, very open, informative and time conscious. I do shift work so it's hard for me to fit the time in to do these things and when I spoke to Greg he set me up super fast, what a great experience, looking forward to getting started here.

Positive experience: The gym is good but a bit small, they seem to always bring in new equipment, the staff aren’t very friendly and come across a little arrogant and rude at times. The gym is far too cold all year round. Recently too busy for the size of the gym.

We do keep the gym at around 18 degrees throughout the year and the challenges we have always faced is if we go above this as we have in the past, people then feedback it is too warm. 18 seems to be the most comfortable for most people. Negative experience: I called to cancel my gym membership because I cannot seem to find a carpark & when I can manage it’s a PACKED GYM! Explained to one of the staff Phil, he informed me that it’s 90 day cancellation policy and they do not own the carpark - fair whatever. He probably had a rubbish day, but that is noway how a customer should be spoken to. Now I have to pay for 3 months of rubbish service. :/

Fantastic experience: Signing up: Signing up for a gym membership has never been an easy feat. But Josh Eastment made my first tour of the gym informative and welcoming. He was knowledgeable about the logistics and semantics of the gym membership, very detailed with the specs of the amenities, and signed me up seamlessly, prompting me to avail of the benefits and privileges immediately. Overall, he was very helpful, courteous, and listened to my questions with empathy. Health and wellness check: James has been very courteous and knows what workout routines and equipment I can use based on my personal wellness goal. His attention to details on the demo and my posture was great. Overall, my experience with the health and wellness assessment was remarkable.

Fantastic experience: The Village Gym Basingstoke is excellent. I go there twice a week - first in the gym for about an hour then 20 lengths in the pool. I end up in the steam room and sauna. The staff are friendly and welcoming every time. I also make full use of the membership rewards which include money off hotel stays, 25% off food and drink in the pub/grill and money off a wide range of retailers, like Tesco and Sainsbury's. I get a lot of value out of my membership and highly recommend The Village Gym Basingstoke.

Positive experience: I have been a member at the village gym in Basingstoke since December. I find the gym to have all the equipment I could need and with the fantastic help, encouragement and support of Susie I am learning to love the gym. Fantastic experience: Amazing gym! Out of all the gyms in Basingstoke I'd definitely say this is one of the best, if not the best! I just love the atmosphere and the vibe of the entire gym! Staff are super helpful and friendly and always have a smile on their face, facilities are always clean, music is always good, classes are great and the equipment is top notch! On the rare occasion I have to wait for a machine, people are more than happy to let you jump on between sets, and everyone is super nice and friendly to chat to, and I much prefer that to an empty gym. Yes it can get busy at times, but in my eyes that's a good thing! I've been in empty gyms in the past and it's usually empty for a reason! Yes it's more expensive than other gyms, but you definitely get what you pay for!

Fantastic experience: I've been to a few gyms in the area and Village gym is by far the best one I've been too. It's a great gym with tons of equipment to use and always being updated with new machines to try. The pool and sauna are really nice too and a great selection of classes. I also love the amazing benefits you get from the pub and hotel stays with your membership. The staff are excellent, if I've ever had any issues they are resolved quickly. Negative experience: Vince it’s really Assets to the guy I give him 11/10 keep gym clean and organise ! Unfortunately the gym is over price and is very busy unless you going in late mate early morning, not be offer any support or train plans form teams but front or house are great people it’s just not very big gym for money over price £69 price increase price should about £30 for gym like as you can used pool of steam room so might want to think of offering just gym membership for 30 full members with pool spa for 69

Fantastic experience: Great gym, the last word of tech kits, plenty of them to choose from and a great variety, the showers are very clean and spacious, the Starbucks coffee shop and the village pub it's what you need after a good workout

Negative experience: The thing is I pay so much, yet it is so damn overcrowded all the time. I mean either they would have to get more space or shut it down. At this moment I am thinking maybe going at 3 am would be better

Negative experience: I’ve been a member of this gym since 2020, going 4-5x a week. It’s been getting progressively worse as time goes on, the memberships are way oversold so the gym is extremely busy at all times of the day. Equipment is not maintained well, so you will often find machines out of use for repair. Membership costs have increased multiple times but there are no signs of what this goes towards as no investments are made into the making this gym a better facility. Shame really as it was once a great place to workout.

Regarding equipment, unfortunately we can't avoid things breaking but we will always do everything within our power to get these rectified as quickly as possible. We log everything as soon as possible with Technogym - some fixes can be completed on the same day we log them but if they require parts they do take slightly longer to resolve. In terms of investments, not everything is visible and I fully appreciate not everything will be applicable to you. We have invested in additional kit (with more to come soon), additional functional floor space due to consistent member feedback, we have several member events on each month free of charge to members, we have grown our timetable even further with classes throughout the day but as always, we will take feedback on board to improve the facilities/offering as ultimately it is members like yourself we want to listen to. Negative experience: Overcrowded all the time. Doesn’t matter if you go at 5am or 5pm its always extremely busy now. Like full capacity packed. They really need to stop taking on new members and instead apply a cap. Also 90 days notice to leave your membership?

Negative experience: I am shocked by this gym. It started very well in the summer when we joined, good equipment and all, but it got so busy that we can't even park to get in! And I keep seeing posts on Facebook of offers to bring more people. For the price that we pay, I thought that was good enough to realise that the capacity of this gym is much less than what they sell, and the quality of this place is completely gone like this. So no, not happy with this place, not recommended.

We did have some issues with our parking cameras in the past, however, these have since been resolved and you will be pleased to hear that we are seeing a massive improvement in parking availability! Negative experience: I joined this gym with high hopes hoping to use all the facilities, and all the classes that are included in the gym membership and to soon find out that the facilities were always full such as the gym, sauna, classes specifically pilates and yoga. Considering paying almost £60 a month, I am not getting my moneys worth. The gym is packed even at 5am! they said I have to pay extra to book pilates which they never disclosed to me prior joining the gym! I am in contract with them and they could not cancel my membership and I was told someone would look into this and get back to me and no one has got back to almost a week. I haven’t been to the gym, I don’t enjoy working out there anymore, I feel frustrated that I am paying money for something that I won’t be using due to the gym being busy and equipment always in use. The worst is they haven’t done anything. I have done everything from my side to reach out to them. I would not be recommending this gym to anyone.

Negative experience: Probably has the best facilities in town. However, it is crazy busy and since the start of January, I have regularly not been able to park my car on arrival. Such a shame as it was such a great gym.
Hi George, Thanks for the review! We are sorry to hear that you have struggled with parking. We have now made our cameras live so that our car park can be properly monitored for cars that park too long. We are also looking into other ways of helping this issue, like barriers and time limits with permits for gym members. We cannot say when we can look at installing these but we are certainly listening to your feedback and trying our best to resolve these issues going forward.
Positive experience: Gym equipment is top notch and there is plenty variety in terms of machines, dumbbells etc. My only criticism is that another squat rack is needed, and more plated weights, as well as the high price isn't really justified in my opinion.
Thanks for your review Kieren! Glad to hear that you love our equipment! The plate loaded areas can definitely be popular and this is why we are in the process of ordering more plates! Positive experience: The gym and spa is good, most of staff friendly, but Ask everything before become a member ship about if the prices will change suddenly, or about children using swim pools, everything! You may get surprises and be disappointed.
Hi Fernanda, Thanks for feedback, as with any commitment, I would always encourage people to ask questions before committing, we are very open with everything, including notice periods and access times, we advise members to take photos of the times children are allowed to use the swimming pool which is displayed at reception. Regarding T&C's we can show these to you in club and these are also sent to every new member. We do offer a 10 day cooling off period should you not be satisfied after joining. Regarding price increase, as the cost of everything has risen, to ensure we continue to offer the highest standards possible and the full service members expect, this was a step we needed to take. We are also continuing to invest in the club, this year alone we have brought in several member events every month, expanded floor space, brought in new equipment, upgraded existing equipment and increased our studio timetable extensively, this is of course something we will continue to do to ensure it is the best possible leisure club. Fantastic experience: I joined the gym just over a year ago, and I guarantee this is the best gym town, very modern, clean, and spacious. All instructors and members of the staff are very friendly and helpful. All enquiries sent via email or other channels are replied to within minutes. The cardio area has decent numbers of treadmills, bikes, cross trainers, and stairs climbers. Also, the gym floor has a large free weights area as well all equipment you need for your workout. The cycling studio is an immersive experience with a screen from floor to ceiling, which you won't find anywhere else. There are all sorts of classes running almost all day from 6am until around 8pm. The spa area has a sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, and a decent size swimming pool. Not only being such a great gym, you also get perks such a discount at The Village pub and hotel. Furthermore, monthly, some classes are followed by special gatherings with complementary drinks and food, which is a very good way to meet other members.

Negative experience: Nice gym, equipment however is poorly maintained, out of order signs with no communication on how long they will be out of action for, often for over a month. Cancelled my membership, followed the procedure, fast forward 5 months and I get a dodgy looking text message from a debt collection company saying I owe the village £43, why wasn’t that money taken in the first place?? And also why didn’t I get any other communication about the debt that I knew nothing about within the 5 months ? Poor experience from start to finish really, I’d say avoid there are plenty of other gyms to choose from, with people that actually care about their clients. It’s all about getting as much money out of you as possible.

I have just had a look at your account and can see you last attended in August 2022 - regarding the equipment being out of action this was just after I started here, we have a much smoother process now with equipment usually being fixed within 1-2 working days if it does go out of order, which due to high usage and people mistreating kit, does unfortunately occur. In terms of your membership, I can see a cancellation was requested but it looks like the DD was cancelled before the final payment was due as per our terms and conditions. I have emailed you with a resolution to this, please check your spam if this has not come through. Negative experience: I just did my membership, and I know now that I have to pay 10 pounds/day for parking if you stay more than 4 hours. So, if you need to go to the swimming pool and do your training, FORGET this gym. I went there four years ago, and you could park without problems. The gym gets worse

An L shaped pool of the same depth with a jacuzzi in the angle The pool was warm and I understand if you want an evening swim the lights are dimmable and you can swim in almost darkness

Negative experience: Swimming costume dryer has mold growing in the men's changing room, needs to be looked at as it stinks too. Would be 4* otherwise. Gym is decent but reasonably small for the price you pay. Pool is also small but nice. Sometimes there is a very strong chemical smell at the end of the lanes that gives you a headache, not sure what they do there. Overall nice friendly staff and cleaners too, expensive but has all the amenities you need.

Our maintenance team have resolved these issues but we would always encourage members to report any issues you spot in club to a member of the team so we can action this as soon as possible. Negative experience: I think one star is a lot, as they have no respect and fairness for their visitors. They give you a couple of weeks' notice of a price increase, but you can't refuse because you have to give a month's notice of refusal.
Positive experience: Good equipment but always so full, barely can find equipment free unless you go after 11 pm. if members pay then hotel stays should not be allowed in the gym.

Fantastic experience: Been to a few gyms over the year’s (Pure gym, David Lloyd, etc), but the Village Gym has exceed my expectations & has made it the most enjoyable gym experience I've been to! Gym classes rock with personal & charismatic class instructors; special shoutouts to Summer, Tom & Richard, you're all amazing & love your classes! Thank you to Greg too for a great intro to the Village Gym & making the registration a breeze! Yes the gym can get rather busy at peak times & the changing room can feel a bit crowded, but honestly you'd expect that at any popular gym. It seems like new management have made great improvements, with very modern equipment, in particular the running machines, which are next level stuff!! Thanks to the team at Village Gym for the continuous care & enthusiasm you provide us members with & keep doing what you do best!

Fantastic experience: Really good gym with all mod cons, does get very busy and you do have to contend with selfish people on their phones while sat on a machine for ages doing nothing! But when you can get on them, they are great machines to workout on.

Fantastic experience: So glad I joined this gym! The classes are incredible, love having a pool area. Of course it’s busy during peak times, that’s why I chose to do classes at that time. Though weekends and Friday evenings are quieter than I expected. The odd occasion the changing room has been slightly unclean is due to other members not respecting the space leaving paper or personal items around. Any time any issue is raised with the team they are right on it to sort it out. While you may find the odd staff member having an off day it is rare and who doesn’t have an off day! Off peak membership for those who can use the gym at those times is outstanding value! Free weights area often looks busy though that’s usually people sitting around during sets. I’ve asked people to move in between their sets and had no issues. If you want a friendly gym with wide range of classes, swimming pool and social this is it!

Fantastic experience: I’m pretty impressed with this gym to be honest. I didn’t know much about the Village and maybe because of that went in with low expectations, but the machines are the most high tech I’ve seen in any gym. Each machine has a screen on it to help you pace your workout, and using it is quite the game changer. Paying more attention to the pace of how you use the machines gives a way more intense workout than without. There seems to be sufficient equipment to the degree that even when it is a bit busier, there’s still equipments and machines that you can use. The staff I’ve encountered so far have all been very friendly, and not the standard required friendly necessary in customer service but just genuinely really nice and engaging. I use the swimming pool too, and although the lanes could do with being a bit wider and the shape of it in general is a bit odd, everyone uses it with respect for each other and nobody seems to be affecting anyone else’s swim.

Positive experience: Good gym, only downsides are the lack of a calve raise machine, only 1 close cable machine and seems to be always busy no matter the time (probably due to New Year’s resolutions)

Negative experience: Friendly staff but gym is dreadful all big hype but never any equipment available always busy also very small no room to work out

Regarding how busy the club is, we have moved some kit around to create more floor space and have further plans to make more space accessible which should help with this!
