Énergie Fitness Old Street

Positive experience: The staff here are really nice and friendly they are lovely and helpful. But the gym is old and tired and kinda smelly. For example there is only one ancient spin bike and it's seat is stuck on high. The ellipticals squeak and their cupholders have the bottom cutoff so your drink falls through. I'm on the half price offer but it's just not worth full price which is a shame as the staff are really nice.

Fantastic experience: An amazing and welcoming experience from day one. All staff were extremely helpful and polite. Answering any questions I had about both training and the gym itself. A very safe and non judgemental place with no bother, where you can really turn off and get your workout done. All equipment is available and cleaned to a very high standard. The same goes for the locker rooms and impeccable showers. Whether you're just squeezing in a quick 20 minute workout or trying to break PRs. This gym is the place to do it. Would highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Its tiny but super friendly gym with a lot of good people here. We have a great community that gives that extra vibe here in Energie. You have pretty much all the equipment needed to train and satisfy your needs. It might get slightly busy on peak times but most of the time the gym is half/completely empty!

The team provides a supportive and friendly environment in which I have always felt comfortable to try out new exercises and get the most out of my membership. Énergie Fitness offers workout classes every week - suitable for beginners and gym rats alike. The facilities are in excellent condition, and I am never lacking for equipment or space to work out. Definitely worth your while.

Fantastic experience: One of the smallest gyms in London, with only 5 treadmills, but it is a lovely-looking gym with all the necessary equipment. the vibe is great, the A/C is good, not too cold, and the operative manager and the staff are kind and approachable. The showers and the changing room are clean. A lovely local gym for a wonderful price.

Fantastic experience: This gym is very practical for me, it's not far from home, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful, the other gym members are also friendly and considerate. I definitely get what I pay for, I enjoy the fact that I can cancel my membership whenever, but rest assured, that's not something I'm ready to do anytime soon.

Fantastic experience: I have been provided with the best workout class with a PT at the gym called Paz. Paz is the perfect representative of Energie fitness. He's always energetic and has happy to give the best fitness advice. Paz is very friendly and in 4 years of being a member at this gym, I've not met a staff member like Paz who shows so much care and effort in our mental health and physical health. 3 years ago I've experienced a very bad shoulder injury from boxing. Paz has gave me the best advice to get back on track and has improved my confidence in getting back into boxing. He had made me do very effective workouts to heal my shoulder. Now I feel much more better and confident. A big thanks to Paz!

Fantastic experience: So many gyms to choose from, I choose Energie Fitness I live near four or five different gyms, and tried most. I decided on Energie Fitness because it’s unpretentious, and it has the equipment I need. Honestly, though, if it weren’t for the staff, I’d not be quite as motivated to go in. They’re incredibly helpful and friendly and encouraging. From the moment I enquired about membership to this day of working out, they do make the place. People is where it’s at.

Fantastic experience: The gym is clean with a variety of free weights and equipment of the like. Danielle and Abu are fantastic trainers and would recommend them, from the very beginning they were and have been exceptionally kind and consistent in their contributions to their clients and whoever walk through the front door. They're keen to provide insights and support wherever needed. The locker rooms and shower facilities are also clean and accessible. Ontop of this there is also a yoga room which is very rarely in use therefore if wanting to have your own space to do your own thing they have that space.

Fantastic experience: The warmth of the staff, the responsiveness of the management, and the variety of equipments are just a handful of things that has made me fall in love with Énergie Old Street. Being a member for the past 7 months, I can genuinely say this is one of my most favourite gyms. It is not one of those huge industrial-sized gyms, but rather a more manageable, non-intimidating gym suitable for people with any and all goals. They’ve got challenges to keep members on their toes and to foster friendly competition. They respond to complaints and fix malfunctioning equipment with urgency. I can vouch for these from personal experience. Many of the members and staff are my friends now, and that is one of the highlights of this gym. The environment is very warm and welcoming. I’m excited to see all the improvements Énergie Old Street is working on and hoping this gym gets the recognition it deserves. Much love.

Fantastic experience: This gym is very special to me as I walked in here after losing my job at another gym. I walked in in order to ask for an open vacancy but ended up having a full therapy session with Abu who was nice enough to hear me out on a down day. The gym itself is clean and has got everything you need in order to achieve your goals! Abu is also an excellent coach who has helped me programming and planning nutrition as I was focused in what my body needed. He clarified it for me and motivated me to start! Although I never started working here I will definitely be back to visit or even to break a sweat as it’s a nice and friendly environment to be in! Sincerely

Positive experience: I am a new member at Energie Fitness old street. I LOVE the fact that the gym opens 6:30am to 22:30pm Monday to Thursday, and closes earlier on weekends, allow me to enjoy other commitments. I see no point in a 24h gym as I dont believe people should be working out at 3am in the morning. The prices are reasonable & I have find the staff to be friendly, especially Danielle. There are very clean showers, and facilities to exercise if that is what you want to do. Yes it isnt the biggest gym, but the question is: do you go the gym for its size or because it is a place workout? I would recommend to anyone who is serious about exercising.

Negative experience: Run like a circus, dirty, cancellation policy is a scheme to take all your money and employees are mistreated

Negative experience: BE CAREFUL with their business practices, which easily leave room for consumer abuse! They do not provide a written proof when you request to freeze your membership and you may easily find yourself in a position where they continue to charge you their monthly fee! By way of background, I wanted to freeze my membership around two months ago. Given (1) I could not find a direct email address of their Old Street branch on their website, (2) their app did not allow me to make such request and (3) I did not think their online request form would be approprite to make such request, I went there in person to request my membership to be frozen. After my request, they continued to charge me their monthly fee. When they charged me for the first month after my request, I was not really bothered as many businesses need a notice period to action any cancellation or similar requests. It only became clearer when they charged me for the second time that something was odd. As I was abroad at the time, I could not go there in person instead I have filled their online form to ask if they forgot to freeze my account. They have not responded!!! When I returned back to England, I went to the branch in person to complain and ask for a refund. But of course they simply ignored my complaint because I did not have a proof. The issue is that they don't give you a written proof when you request to freeze your membership. But if something goes wrong, they ask for a proof, which you are unlikely to have!!!! And because you cannot really find their email address online and you would not think an online form would be appropriate for such a request, you also do not produce a written proof yourself. In short, you end up exposing yourself to their abusive business practices! In fact, when you fill their online request form, you won't receive a copy of the form you have submitted. Hence, you don't even have access to the form you have filled while they have access to it! There is no way of producing a written proof!!!

Fantastic experience: Recently joined this gym and I am so happy that I did. I'm quite new to the whole gym thing so was a bit nervous at first but all the staff are so lovely and helpful (shout out to Jonathon in particular) so I instantly felt comfortable using the equipment and now I always look forwards to going back for a session. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a gym in the area!

Negative experience: I am a member of the gym for around 4 months. In general, it is not bad in terms of equipment and staff, but no fresh air, just air conditioners. The air even has a specific smell, which is not pleasant at all, for sure not a healthy environment. Managers do nothing about it as far I know for years.

Fantastic experience: As a Wow Member, I really love the flexibility of being able to train in different Energie gyms to suit my work schedule and Energie Fitness Old Street is one of the best I have used. Immaculately clean & tidy, the gym is well laid out with a more than extensive range of pin loaded and plate loaded equipment, a roomy free weight area as well as treadmills, action zones with every athletic and fitness training aid you can think of. All the staff are so friendly and helpful and for someone like me that likes the complete workout experience, then you cant beat this gym!

Positive experience: Basic equipment for weight training, not many multiples of benches etc. so you might have to wait between sets if it's busy

Negative experience: I froze my account for roughly a month at the beginning of lockdown as the gym was not open and the circumstances were still a bit blurry. When lockdown continued, I called and confirmed that I wanted the freeze on my account to continue as the gym was closed. This was almost a year ago and having just looked at my statements have noticed that they have charged me every month since May under a nondescript name that is not ENERGIE (as it probably should be) and I have been unknowingly spending 30/month after being told I wouldn't be. When I contacted them to cancel and inquire as to how and why this had happened I was told they could confirm my account was now cancelled, but would not address the 350 they have pocketed from me in the last months. Insanely poor customer service and quite deceitful

Negative experience: Agree with Adam below - post covid they have been unfreezing memberships and creating unauthorized payments. Very frustrating and poor customer experience.

Positive experience: Best gym I've been to - new equipment! Great trainers and friendly staff, I don't feel indimidated at all. The reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that the building is a bit old and needs to be looked after as it is more often than not leaking in some spots but the management is well aware and does their best to fix the issues.

I'm a late 30s overweight guy can find the gym a daunting environment and have to say the staff here have made me feel very comfortable and welcome. The changing rooms are good, the showers are actually excellent would go as far as to say better than the one I have at home. Not too busy at lunch time or after work. Great location five mins old street station.

Fantastic experience: Nice, small/medium size gym. Great staff ready to advise when asked. If you're doing something wrong they will not walk by without saving you from an injury. Towels provided for few pounds extra.
