Positive experience: Never knew this place existed, but it was a great place to go for a game of ten pin bowling Fantastic prices for games, we paid £5. Not too busy when we were there (Sunday)

Positive experience: The bowling was great today, the staff were efficient and friendly. It was £23 for a family for an hour which we thought was good value for money, but it then cost us £14 for 4 drinks! That is £3.50 a drink and its draught Pepsi or tango, outrageous!

Positive experience: Great place for bowling with family and friends. Overall great place although had few issues: blocked toilet, no tomato sauce to go with chips, few technical issues with line 8 during the game (skipping players, pins not aligning properly).

Positive experience: Wentworth Leisure Centre was recently taken over (along with every other Northumberland county recreational facility) by Places for People, the successor to Active Northumberland. It's OK so far but most management attention has been on rebranding rather than on any improvements to the amenities. I look forward to a change in those priorities. PS @ Places for People, if the medium swim lane is for people who swim a length in 30-40 seconds, and the fast lane is for people who consistently swim 25m in 20 seconds or less, then there's nowhere for people who swim a length in 25 seconds to swim.

Positive experience: Great for kids activities Sports hall for hire, bowling alley, soft play(new), swimming pool and gym. Used in December for a large Christmas Market which is worth visiting! Car parking available.

Negative experience: Horrible experience at both the gym and the swimming pool. Me and my husband got “told off” because he was holding me whilst I was trying to swim ( recovery from injury). We got told that it was inappropriate and there were kids in the pool. We didn’t understand so left. When we left a random person came up to me and said I was “revolting” for swimming with my husband. This has left me deeply sad and hurt since I used to love swimming to help from my recovery but now these people have ruined it. Terrible staff and horrible facilities.

Positive experience: Used for softplay swimming and bowling. Never had any issues. Staff at softplay bowling are always really helpful even when busy. Nice clean centre.

Negative experience: We were fully paid members and visited the gym on 5/10 ( like many times previously ) and were turned away because we hadnt booked. I explained to the reception that there was nothing in the t&cs about this ( only pool and classes ) and that we had been many times before. I also checked the gym and it was virtually empty. This was a wasted 1hr round trip for us. I made a written complaint and was promised a response within 7 days. I got no response at all from active northumberland. We have since cancelled our membership and joined Bannatynes

Positive experience: Really good soft play area though no ball pit and seemed small for the capacity dropped it a star. The coffee was nice, not sure on value for money as it was a party, and my father in-law got the coffee (thanks pappy). All in all a nice softplay

Positive experience: Bowling was great here. Not very busy when we went. Prices not very well displayed. As when booked we payed full price. Instead an family price.

Negative experience: Staff worker on the front desk made a rude remark and refused to repeat herself when I politely asked her to.

Fantastic experience: Attended the bowling alley for the first time today and found it to be fantastic. Was very reasonably priced, clean and staff very helpful plus the music was at a sensible level so you could actually have a conversation with friends. Look forward to returning.

Positive experience: Great venue and friendly staff. What let's it down is the lack of a children's organised play area. Most of the other council leisure centres have soft play, or an organised play area. Also they could have incorporated a climbing wall when this was built.

Negative experience: Active Northumberland have somehow managed to turn the simple act of going for a swim into a tangled mess of bureaucracy. A person can't simply use the leisure centre at their leisure. Instead they have to submit unnecessary amounts of personal information to create accounts, and book days in advance for the most basic of activities. If I wanted to jump over annoying hurdles while trying to stay fit, I'd be at the track - not the pool.

Fantastic experience: Just back from a bowling session with Chrysalis Club members ( people living with dementia) Bowling was thoroughly enjoyed by all, then followed by coffee and cake in the cafe. A great outing - thanks to the staff who are so welcoming and helpful.

Fantastic experience: My son does Gymnastics here on a Saturday morning and loves it, the class is fun and easy going for him, he's been to others where it was more regimented and strict which took the fun out of it but the Girls that do the Saturday morning here are great.

Negative experience: Gym is always closed for some reason, with extremely early closing and opening times and compared to other cheaper gyms in the area which even have much better or a facility aswell. Not worth the overpriced price if your getting it just for the gym fair enough if it’s for the pool etc but I don’t understand why they don’t just make a separate cheaper membership for just the gym. Will be switching gyms been a membership of there’s for almost 2 years almost no good experiences.

Positive experience: Gym is okay, could do with another lift platform. I was happy here but have been here less than a year and on 2 occasions have been patronised by 2 male gym instructors.

Negative experience: Even at 2 gym extremely busy and was pushed off a machine by a member of staff who wanted to superset.

Fantastic experience: Great for a workout. Facilities are good.

Positive experience: Soft play has been closed for a number of years with a no sign that this will change. When booking a court for badminton I have had a number of incidents with over booking or cross booking resulting in me losing my space. Pool is cold however, you do warm up to it. Staff are happy to help but do lose their patients quickly. The gym is well equipped with a good atmosphere.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic venue, had my sons birthday party at the bowling alley. Had 15 little ones and the hosted us amazingly. The food and service was absolutely great and the kids all had a blast bowling. A big thanks to the team that where there today and welcoming us all. Definitely reccomend this place.

Fantastic experience: Large centre but unfortunately one has to book to swim. Free car park with different coloured bays for different lengths of stay, display time disc.

Fantastic experience: Ended up in Hexham as a last minute plan. First thing my little girl wanted to do was go bowling. We just showed up not having booked in advance. The man who served us was very helpful getting us booked in and all set up. Great value for money, very clean and tidy venue. Would definitely visit again if ever back in Hexham.

Negative experience: There must be someone who believes that "swim for all" really works. It really doesn't. "!Swim for all" is now mostly for adults with children - and I think it must work for them - but it's not for anyone who simply wants to swim lengths quietly, and without having to constantly check that they are not about to be collided with. Booking a swim is always a charm, and you never know if the system will allow you to book or not. Today, trying to contact Wentworth Leisure all I could do was ring the only number available, during opening hours, only to hear a recorded message telling me that the office was closed. And still no-one can spell "promptly" in their pool information. I pay monthly and I am beginning to find swimming at Hexham is troublesome and pretty unrewarding. I don't believe that adult swimmers are catered for, unless they're speedy. Utterly unimpressed.

Positive experience: Good leisure centre. Unfortunately swimming instructors not joining kids in the pool at their swimming lessons. No spaces to progress kids stuck in there groups.

Negative experience: Strange badminton courts are not open to family members. Very Disappointing its the kids school break, we are from north Tyneside and play all the time. I wouldnt have booked holiday time here if we new that.

Positive experience: A very comprehensive set of facilities and equipment. Only one major complaint is that it needs a proper water fountain in the gym that cant run out or at the very least a cold tap in the toilets!
