Positive experience: Everything regarding meal was ok but we went to get our drinks at the bar and not to our knowledge they only took card payment which was strange because we previously a month before we paid for our meals by cash, our drinks had already been poured but because we didn't have a card they poured our drinks down the sink in this world of waste I would like to ask the question why ? Luckily my husband popped a card in for me to use , but to waste a round of drinks absolutely baffled me and my friends surely the barman concerned could have given us time to sort something out before wasting the round of drinks being thrown down the drain I just thought that management should know or it's procedure nothing surprises me anymore, otherwise a nice meal although vegetables were a little al dente for us, the incident marred otherwise a lovely afternoon thank you

Positive experience: Tucked away, Bryn Meadows is a great facility. I attended a private function, the staff did a great job, the venue was well decorated and I can't wait to go back. We didn't stay, I thought the rooms were expensive

Fantastic experience: We found the course online, had never played before and were in for a great experience - We showed up and it was pissing it down, late Winter weather. Despite this the front 9 was amazing, not boggy and the greens ran as well as a great greensman could make them. We stopped in the halfway house and got chatting to the GM, he advised us against playing the back 9 but provided us access to the in-house virtual simulator. We had hours of fun and the fact he went out of his way to accomodate us was massively appreciated. Incredibly grateful for the hospitality and can't wait to visit again. Thanks for having us, not a shock that anyone would come or become a member.

Positive experience: Just back from an over night stay with work. There were 20 of us and our Company had also booked us in for the Christmas dinner. We had our own private lounge upstairs for this. Lovely decorations as it’s leading up to Christmas but we did find the room very warm as the heating was blowing out quite a bit! Staff were very attentive, professional and friendly! Could not fault the food at all! It was fresh and plentiful! Such a fab and relaxed evening. So relaxed that we were very kindly asked to vacate the room at 11pm so the staff could clear down!!! A lovely setting. The Bar area was cosy and staff were great too. Could have done with have done with having some bags of crisps/cheddars you had to walk across to the sports bar to get anything like that. It’s not far, but when if you are on restriction time after having a busy day and arriving in the dark; or if the weather was not great, it seemed a bit too much to have to go outside and over to another bar just to get a quick snack. Visiting in December, the hotel was decorated for Christmas and it looked so lovely and welcoming. The reception staff were fab and extremely friendly. On to the rooms. We had a variety between our group. Mine had a wonderful view of a bush and wall!! I wasn’t worried though as we hadn’t been booked in for the view and I wasn’t in the room much at all. Of course I would have loved one facing the front of the hotel but not a deal breaker. The rooms were spacious. Well equipped although, perhaps a complementary bottle of water or 2 would have been good and a couple more milks. I still find it odd filling up a tiny glass from the bathroom tap to drink! This is most likely a “Me issue” though but other hotels have supplied bottled water. I probably could have asked for more milks at reception but I didn’t think about that until I got home. Nice to have a full sized ironing board available. Beds were super comfy and the bedding was amazing. The bathroom was fine but I would definitely say to anyone staying please be careful on the bathroom floor! A large number of us nearly stacked it because the tiles were very slippery….a lot worse with socks on but also, still very slippery without socks. My shower was a bit drippy around the shower control button which meant I had to mop up after getting out as the water pooled all around the edges. Shower itself was ok though once I worked out how to direct the rainfall head. Breakfast was really good. I opted for cereal and then eggs Benedict! Absolutely lush. Fresh juice, fruit and yoghurt available too; plus cheese ham and pastries if you wanted them. Lovely strong coffee. We had an early breakfast at 7 as we had to head to site for a work event that day so didn’t get to use any of the spa facilities or venture up to the spots bar. A great stay from start to finish and thank you to the staff for making us feel so welcome and for the great hospitality.

Negative experience: Evening meal was overpriced, steak was inedible, meal was overcooked. No steak knives with the steak we had to ask for them.we ordered starters to share and were told that they would bring us side plates, we never received them. nobody came to see if our meals were ok. Food was missing from one meal, a member of the group ordered curry and was told she could have half chips and rice which never arrived. and breakfast order was completely messed up. We then waited ages for them to clear our plates, the customer service is shocking, we were going to order dessert but didn't want to risk after our main meals. Floor around the pool is very slippery, a few people nearly fell. Breakfast was overcooked. A member of the group ordered a Tia Maria coffee and couldn't taste any Tia Maria. Hotel room shower only had cold water. We tried to order cocktails and were told they weren't available as they were planning Christmas cocktails. We were asked to leave the bar by 11:30 despite staying at the hotel.

Negative experience: Generally scruffy with a huge lack of maintenance, quite low rent, obviously relys on golf n weddings to stay afloat. .

Negative experience: Me and my mum paid £200 for a 'calm' package. We got to the spa and went to go for a swim, there were only a handful of lounger chairs around the pool, all of which were taken. The pool itself was taken up by people swimming in lanes so not really any space to get in too. So we went to get a coffee and came back and there were still no chairs available so we sat in a corridor on a sofa. (Bit like a hotel lobby, certainly not relaxing at all). There was only one relaxation room with 4 chairs so if this was taken too there was literally no where to sit. When there was space, we went into the 'relaxation room' to find 2 women having a massive catch up chatting the whole time. We went for our treatments and my mum loved hers. I had a back massage which was lovely, then I had a scalp massage which was terrible. She didn't actually massage my head and just seemed to play with my hair for half an hour. After this experience, I complained to the manager who offered a free drink and a free course. We took them up on their offer however still left the 'spa' feeling more wound up and frustrated than when we arrived. We then followed up our complaint with an email to be told we would not be getting refunded our £200 due to the fact they had given us a free drink and meal. Like this compensates for a £200 package!!!! Worst 'spa' i have ever been to avoid like the plague. Customer service shocking too. Definitely feel like our money has been stolen.

Fantastic experience: Excellent Sunday lunch fantastic place to go beautiful views

Melissa Waddingham 11 months ago

Negative experience: Visited recently and had to ask on more than two occasions for the drinks I pre-ordered, from complaining on email they stated it was a "training issue". I've asked for a partial refund on an item I haven't received and they said it was complimentary in which it wasn't because I paid for it! Not good at customer service and resolving concerns, would not recommend for any events as they clearly place new staff for large parties who cannot fulfil dietary requirements.

Fantastic experience: Great stay! Reasonably priced. Nice leisure facilities, rooms are nice - could do some a little modernising but great views over the golf course and surrounding areas. Very comfy king bed. Staff are welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was lovely and catered for vegetarians and vegans. Would stay again

Positive experience: Golf course good but there are no water hazard markings , doesn't help visitors playing the course. Meal was ok lasagna was a little well done on top for some of our party.

Negative experience: We’ve just been for lunch, 3 of us. £75 bill for frozen burnt chips and a findus frozen cod. Lovely setting, but unfortunately they think they can get away with serving terrible food at a premium.

Positive experience: Just spent two nights plus golf here with 22 other golfers. A fabulous experience. The staff were great, nothing was too much trouble for them. Lovely views from our rooms. Great sitting out areas from our bedroom The Winners bar was a great place to be in after golf and when there are so many of you. I would really recommend Bryn Meadows for a golfing weekend away

Fantastic experience: Prompt correspondence prior to booking. Pleasant welcome. Quick and consistent service. Friendly staff eager to meet customer requests. Rasul treatment is to die for! Highly recommend. Lovely spa with excellent facilities. However, there was insufficient attention paid to the wet tiles around the pool which led us to have a few near misses! Do take a water bottle with you too as the water fountain had a low flow and was a tad grim to the eye! Rooms cleaned and prepared to a high standard. Comfortable bed, spacious and lovely views from the balcony. However, it was missing feminine products if I'm being really picky. Delicious food and coffee at the Blas Restaurant. Good breakfast, but quite basic and bland options if you're not fancying the cooked breakfast. All in all, another wonderful stay at Bryn Meadows. We would definitely return. Thank you very very much!

Negative experience: I would not be visiting this place again as they charged us when we got out of the place for late check out which we already paid the day before. Went back in and they said it’s all sorted and will get money back! Called up after 7 days and they said they are refusing to give the money back. They only charged the card when we left. So don’t give ur card details when u get there as they will just take extra money off your card when you are gone. It is expensive as it is to stay for a night and the room wasn’t even that nice! Also since going here my boyfriend has gotten really ill and doctors reckon it is from the swimming pool . Just be careful guys!

Negative experience: Daughters wedding. Music on usb . They given excuse for not returning it, locked in safe, person not here to open it. Then Evert time phoned different excuse every time. Months on still no usb. It was a very useful dual usb C & A. Bunch of thieves. That was on top of cold children meals and having to fetch drinks from bar 100 yards away (leave venue 100 yards into other bar, back to venue)

Fantastic experience: I was treated to a spa day by a lovely friend. The professionalism of the wonderful young lady who gave me the neck, shoulder, and back massage and facial was outstanding, it was my first time, and I felt very self conscious as I'm a bigger lady. My treatment was at 1 pm on Sunday, 28th July. I can not remember her name... She said I had a lot of stress and knots, and I felt so relaxed afterwards. Thank you so much.

Tim Moore 1 year ago

Negative experience: BEWARE - glossy on the outside, sub standard in the room and service. Stayed 9th June 2024 for 2 days to attend a wedding. This was the problems we encountered and when emailing the GM - Bernard Santo and the owner Gary Mayo, despite reading my complaint they never acknowledged or apologised the complaint. Judge for yourself on a genuine complaint. A hole in the wardrobe. A dirty, stained bath with hairs left behind. Stains on the tiles by the bath handle. Water spilling from the tap heads when in use. Bins containing the previous guest’s rubbish. Previous guests Hair clips left on the chair and the floor. A dirty outer blanket with a red stain. Sink taps providing only cold water, with no hot water available. A non-functional safe, crucial for safeguarding the bride and groom's rings. A patio area with no chairs or tables Certain menu items, such as mint burgers, were unavailable. The restaurant coffee machine was broken. Food took an hour to be served. Basic condiments were not provided, and staff could not find red sauce, forcing guests to proceed without it. The overall dining experience was disappointing and did not reflect the service quality expected from a four-star hotel. The following morning, the groom, myself, the ushers, and the bride's father planned to have breakfast together. However, we were met with an uncooperative attitude from the serving staff. They refused to rearrange tables to accommodate our group, forcing us to sit separately and further diminishing our experience. Additionally, my wife was denied a bottle of water for the room and was told to purchase it from the reception, despite us staying for more than one night. Is it not customary to replenish room water daily for extended stays? I also learned that the bride’s experience was marred by finding another guest’s possessions in her bridal suite due to a double booking. This error significantly distressed the bride and added unnecessary stress to an already important day.

Positive experience: Came here for a spa day with my mum! Good range of facilities (hydrospa and jacuzzi, and aromatherapy and relaxation room was a nice touch). We found the sauna and steam room a bit small but lovely and clean all the same. The only small negatives were the edges of the pool could have been cleaned a bit more, the jacuzzi was a bit fiddly to turn on and the steam room light was broken - but none of these negatively impacted our experience! Everything else in the pool area was functional and clean, good temp to jacuzzi and hydrospa. Good amount of sun loungers and the view of the fields out of the windows was beautiful with the sun shining in. The changing room facilities were quite small, but it made up for it with the rainfall showers being nice and hot, everywhere being clean, and use of amenities like free hairdryers and swimming costume dryer. We were also given free robes, slippers and towels with our spa package! The spa staff were all friendly and attentive, and our treatments were amazing! My mum had a massage with Stacy and I had an express facial with a blonde girl who I cannot remember her name, but she was really nice and made me feel really relaxed. The ambience in the treatment rooms were incredibly relaxing also. We also had £25 food voucher each at the Blas restaurant which came with our package. All of the wait staff were very friendly, and our waitress Caitlin was very attentive! The restaurant was not overly busy when we sat down, more customers started filling in as we were eating but it wasn’t overly loud. Only slight negative was we were asked what we wanted to drink as soon as we sat down, so make sure you have a look at the bar before you get to your seat. Really good selection of spirits and wines, which were surprisingly really affordable. The food was absolutely incredible, and I highly recommend the rump of lamb main and the deep fried halloumi starter. The portions are on the smaller side but it tastes so good that you savour every bite. We found the crab and avocado tian a bit gritty, and we could only really taste the crab but still tasted nice. I had the elderflower panacotta for dessert which was a unique and refreshing end to our experience. My mother had the red berry crème brûlée which also tasted nice. Overall, I highly recommend this experience and it’s a perfect gift for a loved one!

Fantastic experience: I did not stay in the hotel, I just played golf there with some members. The golf course was in good condition considering the weather we have had. It is well worth a visit and is not an easy course to navigate around. In general the course is very much worth playing and the members were great, friendly and knowledgeable. I'm looking forward to them visiting us at Brynhill Golf Club ⛳️. The food and drinks are certainly not cheap. Even the members of the club think they are too expensive as they focus on the wedding business rather than the golf members.

Positive experience: Delayed review...I had a baby shower last week, lovely afternoon tea, food was fresh, well presented, tasted amazing and plenty for everyone, well recommend, the serving staff was also lovely, couldn't do enough for us, very attentive .no complaints. Then there's management needs to work on customer service.

Simon Buckley 1 year ago

Negative experience: Nice location. However the service and quality of food does not match the price they expect you to pay. Waiter was not friendly at all and not once did she ask us if we wanted a refill on drinks or how our food was. Sirloin Steak was incredibly tough and no apology from managers or waiter. In fact when I called to complain manager used horrible tone with me and tried to make it seem like it was my fault.

Positive experience: I've stayed here a few times over the years when visiting a supplier. Overall it's a very nice place but I'm wondering if it needs a bit of an update as, overall, it feels tired. The lad on reception was excellent and the breakfast was good. I wonder as to why something like eggs benedict attract a surcharge when, surely, the dish is no more (if not cheaper) than a traditional cooked breakfast. The room was comfortable and mine was overlooking the course.

Fantastic experience: Nothing too much trouble, great quality food. Good price for the Sunday lunch we had today. Staff very attentive without "hovering". Lovely views over the golf course if you're sat in conservatory. Only things being really picky would be, golfers walk right past your window peering in. I'm not bothered but some might. The pork belly could have been grilled off before serving to crisp up the crackling. Would definitely recommend & return though!

Negative experience: Went for Sunday lunch yesterday. Very disappointed with the whole experience. Restaurant was cold. The service was poor felt like they couldn't be bothered. The amount of food was poor ( five boiled potatoes between 4 of us!) Horseradish turned up when we'd almost finished our meal. Waited ages for our dessert.....only to be told the chef had gone on break. .... REALLY.....couldn't wait to leave.

Negative experience: I want to start with I am not one to normal complain but today was very disappointing. My sister bought us a Rasul voucher for my 30th and finally got round to going today. Overall the mud treatment and spa room was lovely. Left our skin feeling and smelling amazing. But other than that we are very disappointed with today and couldn’t get out of there fast enough. We went into the pool area and there was no where for us to sit down and the jacuzzi and hydro spa water was nothing short of filthy. We then left and got changed as we couldn’t relax in there and asked if we could have our afternoon tea early. When asked we was met with an eye roll and an abrupt ‘sit in the bar and we have it set up soon’. Whilst sat there we could hear 3 staff members behind the bar slandering their colleagues. At this point we were the only 2 people sat in the bar / restaurant. After 45 minutes we asked if we could be seated for food as we had been told it wouldn’t be long, and again with a huff was told we are booked in for 4pm. After stating we were told we could have it early, we were finally taken to our table. As far as gluten free options go it wasn’t too bad, but my sisters food had a hair in it and put us off. When we told the server he just said ‘oh sorry’ and silence. After a few awkward seconds asked if we wanted anything else. We said no and left immediately. I have worked in hospitality before and would have been mortified if someone complained. Every encounter we had with the staff today has made us feel like we are bothering then. I don’t know if it is because everyone was having an off day or because we had a voucher. But we couldn’t wait to get from there. The best part about today is the few hours I got to spend with my sister and the view.

Positive experience: Booked for a festive menu meal for 6pm. Arrived at 5.50pm, shown to our table at 6.15pm, they were relatively quiet too. Service was very slow, took 2 and a half hours from start to finish for a 3 course meal and 2 drinks each (4 of us). Meals were really tasty, albeit luke-warm. 2 People on surrounding tables complained about their meals. Randomly 2 of us had 2 peas on our plate, no peas on the menu at all. made us chuckle. The young waiter was doing his best, with a smile on his face, and nothing was too much trouble. Just seemed so much lack of organisation. A lady employee actually said to me "sit down while I find the festive menu's because someone has thrown them away" Had to ask for the bill 3 times, then ended up going to the counter to pay. Don't know how they'd manage if the place was full to capacity. Like I said the meal was tasty, but £171.00 for 4 of us for a festive meal seems rather steep when the finer details lacked so much.

Positive experience: Had a Christmas works do here last night. A 3 course Christmas meal which wasn't the best and only 2 choices. The 1st course was fine and as was the dessert but the main turkey dinner was just okay. The roast potatoes were not the best. In fact I thought they were boiled they were tasteless and weren't cooked thoroughly enough. As for the service it seemed as no one knew what they were doing. I felt so sorry for the waiters and waitresses they were only youngster. They didn't have a clue who wanted what and where to go next. The person in charge came to our table and said 'who wants soup on here?' she was so unprofessionals. Bryn Meadows should think about taking pre booking orders so at least they will have an idea who wants what on each table. Having said this the D J was good and played some good dance tunes.

Positive experience: Spent one night here as I was attending an event in the area. Good location although the roundabout exit could be a little tricky depending on what day of the week and what time . The service and breakfast were ok. Rooms were also a typically decent standard expected from Premier Inn. There was also ample parking howbeit shared with a pub. Slight suggestion for improvement would be to add extra pillows in the rooms. Other than that, can't really complain about the experience

Positive experience: It's a really scenic place great for weddings or parties. Nice golf course, but definitely some steep climbs. It's a really welcoming location, nice and polite staff the type of people where its not a problem for them. Fantastic experience: So I had planned a last minute get away at 9pm from London to Wales with my wife and 4 kids, drove to Wales and got to Wales around 3.00am and after a long drive we stopped of at around 6 hotels all to find they were fully booked. We got to this lovely place to find it was also fully booked but the manager listened to our painful story and managed to squeeze us all into a 1 bedroom for the night and we was so pleased and very great full for the efforts this place went through to make arrangements for us at such a last minute and at such a weird time of night. The room we got was very nice and they even helped us with getting our kids ticked in and made sure we was ok before leaving to give us a good night sleep, the views were amazing when we woke up the next morning and they even let us sleep in to have a late check out and I just wanted to say thank you so much for helping us out that night, it was a while ago but I haven't forgot about the good deed you guys did that night.

Negative experience: I really am not one to write negative reviews and I am reluctant to even write this one but I feel compelled to. I purchased a spa day for my self and for my sister, £100 each. Lunch was included but the options were very, very limited. You had to pay extra to upgrade and also extra for a drink. The food was tasty but for a £100 spa day I would expect more than a sandwich (the exact menu wasn’t available online). The pool was split into 4, 3 lanes roped off for those that wanted to do actual exercise in the pool. If you were there for a relaxing spa day, you could only use a quarter of the pool (which was weird considering the majority of people there looked liked they were having a spa day). I booked in to have a 25 min back, neck and shoulder and 25 min scalp massage. The therapist was late collecting me from the waiting area, which would be fine if it wasn’t for the fact that this ate into my treatment time! So i didn’t get the full 50 minutes that I paid for. The back, neck and shoulder massage was first and it honestly felt like 10 minutes. I couldn’t believe it when she said that was done but I didn’t know the exact time to question her. The scalp massage was NOT a massage, she simply rubbed her fingers in the same part of my scalp for what must’ve been at least 25 minutes. She didn’t move to neck or shoulders as advertised would be included, she didn’t even move to a different part of my scalp. It was the weirdest experience.. it was like she was doing the absolute bare minimum that she could.. it was so odd. Of course I expressed all of these concerns to Bryn Meadows before we left, I gave them the opportunity to address them, they said they needed 5 working days to investigate.. that was over a week ago and I haven’t been contacted. We have been through a heck of a lot recently and this was supposed to be a 21st birthday treat for my sister but honestly it was a shambles for £200. This is an absolute no go if you’re looking for a relaxing spa day.

Fantastic experience: We came here for a spa day/brunch during our honeymoon. We arrived a little early (20 mins) & were asked to sit in the bar prior to being seated just a few meters away for our brunch reservation which was odd, but not an issue. Food was great and plentiful. We had a new waitress serving us so although we didn't get the "full service" of advising us of what we were being served & asked if we wanted any further drinks like others around us, we appreciated you need to learn somewhere. Spa was great. We used the mud chamber, then relaxed in the therapy room before going for a swim & sauna. We also walked over the road to the golf simulation & spent a few hours there in the evening. The main barman was fantastic. We didn't mention we were on honeymoon until just before we were leaving but he "looked after" us and was a credit to Bryn Meadows. Thank you

Fantastic experience: Had a spa day here with afternoon tea.. The afternoon tea was nice with a beautiful view of the golf course. Spa was amazing, we went into the mud chamber which was lovely, clean and calming. Facilities are nice here too, steam room, sauna, hydro spa, jacuzzi etc. Would definitley recommend

Positive experience: We stayed here for a family member's wedding, just so we could make the most of the day and evening. Check-in was straight forward, and we were able to book our breakfast for the following morning, which we had brought to our room for a £5 service charge. Reception staff were lovely and very helpful. The hotel, which is part of a golf club and health resort was very clean and our room was perfect for our stay. Not the biggest of rooms but ideal for our needs, with a view out onto the golf course. Very comfy beds, plenty of storage and a good size bathroom, although the bath was a little on the small size for me, but not that much of an issue! Hotel restaurant is highly recommended, with its fantastic views and great service, and the cappuccino I ordered was THE best cappuccino I have ever had!! Overall a great hotel and resort, definitely recommended.

Fantastic experience: Morning Rasul Spa and afternoon tea for a birthday treat. Not too busy at the spa. Robe, towel and slippers provided. Extra towels, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion available after the Rasul session. Afternoon tea was lovely, too much to eat so took some cakes home in a box. Staff very helpful and attentive.

Fantastic experience: I wanted to surprise my wife with a lovely spa weekend for our First Wedding Anniversary. So I booked a Junior Room, Spa, Evening Meal and Welsh Breakfast. Extras I wanted to make it really special, so I asked for a bottle of Prosecco and Chocolates for the room, and to our wonderful delight, the Bryan Meadows team put a High quality bottle of Prosecco Rosé and Chocolate covered Strawberries in our room to welcome us. The look on my wife's face was amazing. She was so delighted and happy. It was in a chilled Champagne bucket with ice and we enjoyed some bubbles on the terrace over looking the Golf course in the sunshine. A Truly beautiful experience to start our weekend. Junior Room The Room I chose was a Junior Room, which is the next level above a standard and for the few extra pounds, I would definitely have this room again. We had a beautiful sofa and coffee table to sit at, desk, bath and shower, separate vanity sink. TV and Super comfy Large King-size bed. Ample storage for clothes and a beautiful ambience to the room and plenty of room to relax. The room was spotlessly clean. While there were a few wear and tear marks, but very few, I will always forgive that when the room was so beautiful and so clean The pool and jacuzzi. I can honestly say it was the warmest Jacuzzi I've ever experienced and was truly amazing. In fact another guest also commented this to me while I was in the changing rooms. Pool, was also a lovely temperature and not cold. The pool is a relaxing pool and doesn't have a deep end I noticed, so nothing to worry about if you not a strong swimmer. Sauna and Menthol Steam rooms were lovely. From the Pool and Spa room it has beautiful views and you can sit in the terrace also if you wish. Some lovely relaxing pool side loungers also. Towels, slippers and robe was freely available. Treatments The spa staff couldn't have been more polite and helpful. We booked the Razul Mud treatment. Which was really fun and different to the standard massage etc. High recommended. They offer a range of treatments and have some really lovely relaxing rooms which play lovely music, we didn't want to leave. Evening meal As part of the deal, we were entitled to £25 each off, the cost of our meals. So £50 off the total cost. The food was truly fantastic. I had the the Fish cake to start and Confit of Duck for main. My goodness what a treat. Totally perfect. Crispy duck, sticky tasty glaze sauce. Michelin star quality, really. My wife ordered the Rabbit Spring rolls and Welsh Lamb. Again totally amazing. Portion sizes were perfect. We ordered pancetta fries as a side and they were to die for. We didn't have desert, but opted for some cocktails instead. Breakfast Again a full Welsh breakfast, which are local products. Continental items such as bagels, croissants, cereal, fruit, toast, juices, tea as coffee etc. All available and can eat as much as you like. Hotel staff. Reception, Fusion spa, bar staff and house keepers were fantastic. Totally professional and welcoming, kind and friendly. And they really went the extra mile to make sure we were comfortable. Rob on reception was very friendly and helpful and also the lady, that made sure that our prosecco and treats were ready on our arrival. Just a few things to improve on maybe was the terrace outside the dining room looked a little unloved and could do with a tidy and some weeding. But this really is a minor point, and certainly did not taint how we feel about the Bryn Meadows. Summary If you are thinking of trying this one out. Then don't hesitate. A Gem in the Welsh countryside Fellas if you want to surprise your wife/partner/mother etc. Then look no further. This is as high quality as that other huge golf resort in Newport but more intimate and friendlier. We will be coming back for sure, and will stay for two nights next time, so we can really relax and enjoy maybe two or treatments and enjoy the pool and jacuzzi for longer.. Thank you all so much for making our First Wedding anniversary as special as our wedding. Stuart and Adina

Fantastic experience: Just back from another lovely stay at brynmeadows. The lady on front desk was so welcoming and accommodating. The spa overnight package Is a great deal and the food is always beautiful. Only complaint is there are never enough beds by the pool during busier times especially when they are reserved but not actually in use it can be frustrating.

Negative experience: Golf Society trip with wives/partners. Restaurant staff were mostly miserable, food was overpriced and either under or over cooked. On our third day, they closed the course so we could not play so all accept two couples from our party went home. Within an hour of them leaving, the course was reopened for locals and members. Disgraceful and we would NOT stay here again.

Positive experience: The hotel is lovely. It's in a really nice place, the evening meal was excellent, as was the spa and massage. The staff did their best with everything and provided a good service. The only thing that let it down was the breakfast. That was mediocre and more reminiscent of a seaside boarding house than a 4 star hotel.

Positive experience: Positives first, nice layout and in general the staff were excellent. Came on a golfing two day break which included b&b golf and a dinner credit. Golf Club had plenty of atmosphere and the locals were friendly. Parkland course with a nice variety of holes, visually attractive greens were really slow. Room overlooking the course was well appointed. Obviously decided to make additional cash from food as in my opinion the food was considerably overpriced for what it was (previous posts have shown menu prices). Also service in the restaurant was slow, waited an hour for an appetiser. Breakfast was either the standard breakfast or some other over priced options. Breakfast was ok. Also available is the spa with pool, gym, sauna steam etc. This was quite busy when we were there. Parts if the hotel especially the spa were incredibly dark as if someone had over zealously decided to reduce the lighting. Overall enjoyed the accommodation and golf and was disappointed with the value and service in the restaurant .

Positive experience: Over night stay with spa. Spa was lovely and really enjoyed the treatment. Stayed my 2 daughters so had a room for3 [ROOM 101]. Sofa bed foam and was really uncomfortable, old and in need of updating. Bed was concave so made sleeping difficult. Pillows were old. Bathroom needed updating,as ceiling paint was falling off As part of the package we had evening meal and breakfast. Evening meal was vastly over priced and we all left much of the meal. Breakfast however was very nice.

Positive experience: The room I had was excellent. With a balcony and views over golf course and opposite mountains you couldn't ask for anything more. Food in the restaurant was very good. The service was excellent as well. Had a brilliant night stay there.

Mark Campion 2 years ago

Positive experience: A bit disappointing to be honest. The welcome: polite and warm The rooms: I stayed in a junior suite. Spacious but strange layout. The decor/fittings need updating. Lots of dust on bathroom radiator. Water leaked through the bath/shower lever, but at least water is hot and has good pressure. Water leaked through base of tap on sink. Sink is not in the bathroom, weirdly, and also no good light for shaving at sink. TV is in strange position that isn't easy to watch from either the bed or the sofa (it's directly opposite a pillar that divides those two parts of the room). Remote control didn't work well. Lighting isn't great - lots of options, but all dim lights. No bright light for working under. Balcony has no privacy screen from adjacent balconies - but lovely open views. No plug socket near bed. Bed is comfy. Coffee in room is basic Nescafé original - I'd expect better from a hotel of this calibre. Plus the UHT milk sachets are only full fat. Restaurant: 1st night, service was quick. Next 2 nights, service was very slow. The menu is good, though on 2 nights there were unavailable options. Portion size on grilled salmon dish was measly for £22. The chicken in superfood salad dish and Cajun chicken dish was overcooked on both occasions and too dry. I asked for balsamic vinegar with my superfood salad and the waiter brought me 2 sachets of malt vinegar! Overall, food is OK but overpriced and service is too slow. Gym: Very good. Well maintained, all machines working and lots of options so no issues finding equipment to use at a fairly busy time of day. Friendly staff.

Negative experience: Utterly disappointed by Blas Restaurant. I was taken out for an Afternoon Tea, when we arrived they gave us lunch menu's. I mentioned we had booked afternoon tea. The staff said they had us down for lunch but would see what they could do, after avoiding accountability of course. We waited a while, tea and coffee was brought over, the staff gave me a cracked cup which made hot tea pour everywhere. They changed the cup and after forever later, out came boring salad sandwiches and two cakes. No scones, no jam, no variety of sandwiches. Awfully disappointing for the price. The tea and coffee is unlimited, if you can find someone to wait on you. The food was that dreadful, I had the person I was with finish it, we wanted to leave as soon as possible. We went out for dinner afterwards because the experience was that poor, we felt like we had to make up for it.

Fantastic experience: We came for a spa afternoon and lunch. The spa was super clean and everything was nice and warm. The staff and food in the restaurant were amazing. We were allowed to upgrade our meal from the spa menu to the bar menu for an extra cost which we really appreciated. We enjoyed thoroughly, would recommend to others and will be back!

Peter Drew 2 years ago

Positive experience: Nice rooms, we were upgraded for free. Staff were lovely and really accommodating to every request. Downside was the food, for the price it didn't match the quality I expected. Very fatty meat so I didn't finish my food. Took about 50 minutes between placing the order and having it served. Overall, lovely hotel and staff. Food was let down for the price. I did try to look for a menu online before arriving however I couldn't find one so I've attached the food menu for anyone who is looking for it.

Negative experience: We paid £75 for the valentines set menu and while we couldn’t fault the food, the upstairs setting was very bad, the carpet where we were sitting was filthy, lots of marks on walls, cob webs on light fittings. Service was very subpar with long waiting times and a few errors - including handing two heavily pregnant ladies a glass of Prosecco

Fantastic experience: We had a amazing time, staff are so nice and friendly, everything we needed and asked was never to much for them. The view we had was stunning. As a gluten free person I can say I had NO problems with the food and breakfast, and the food was AMAZING Recommend this place to everyone. A big thank you to all the staff. We will definitely coming back.

Positive experience: The location is excellent. Parking available. Rooms great. Mobile signal in the area is poor and the WiFi was not ideal, disconnecting frequently because the signal was weak. It was a business trip and the internet was necessary for my work. The breafast was good but not perfect. The only coffee available was filter coffee and if you needed water you had to ask, no water available.

Kris Jones 2 years ago

Negative experience: The family and I have been going to Brynmeadows and the Blas restaurant for several years and after our boxing day meal we will be unlikely to return until standards are improved and money is spent on the place. The Blas restaurant is run down and is in need of money being spent on it to bring it upto date as it's tired, there are numerous cracks in the walls, paint flaking, dirty carpets, damp and roof in conservatory needs repairing and cleaning. The food standard has slipped and we had to send the vegetables back as they were black and over cooked and didn't look appetising. The menu this year was limited and there was no option for 2 courses we had to have 3 which is not what everyone wants. If you could only eat 2 courses you needed to pay for 3 which is ridiculous. It's really sad to see this place falling apart and it seems to be in a financial crisis by the terrible property conditions. Hopefully we will see it return to its former glory

Fantastic experience: Room was awesome. Lovely customer service. Breakfast was disappointing... sausage very odd tasting, Bacon and hash brown I think had been out or cooked a while very hard and dry. Other than that would definitely stay again, just not pay extra for Breakfast.

Robert Barclay 2 years ago

Negative experience: Very disappointed with the quality of food. Visited twice recently as both times the food was poor. Steak medium rare was inedible cooked very well done. Welsh rarebit was burnt. Curry was over cooked so chicken had fallen into bits. Completely not acceptable for the high prices they charge.

Sarah Sunshine 2 years ago

Negative experience: The spa is tatty. Hardly ever any toilet paper in the toilets. Dirty changing rooms, most of the door locks on the lockers are broken. Half the time the Jacuzzi doesn't work or the steam room is broken. Almost impossible to get anyone in the Spa to actually pick up the phone. Instead of proper disabled facilities they have had the same tatty plastic ramp inside the hotel (which none in their right mind would attempt walking down if they needed to use a stick. They haven't bothered to provide any disabled access from outside - about 12 very steep stairs to navigate. How Bryn Meadows has the cheek to call itself a luxury hotel I don't know.....save your money and go elsewhere....

Negative experience: We booked afternoon tea for a party of 12 for a baby shower occasion, the website clearly states parties of over 10 people would be located in one of their suites when I called to make the reservation I had reconfirmed with the the reservation staff and was told yes this is correct, this was ideal for us being a large party of guests, 3 days before the baby shower I called and checked what decorations we would be allowed to bring (balloons, table decs and bunting?!) on querying this I was told only table decs as you will be situated in the restaurant, I explained no we were told we would be in a suite and also their website reinforces this, I was then told we could have the suite if we were willing to pay an additional £150 so that they could cover the cost of extra staff, I said no as why has this suddenly changed without me being informed and was told there are many things incorrect on their website, I was then told as a gesture of goodwill they would sit us on the lower part of the restaurant in a private area for a reduction in cost to which I refused to pay extra for as the restaurant is the restaurant there is no private area!!! After supposedly checking with her manager I was then told there would be no extra cost for this. Still disgruntled but with 3 days to go it was too short notice to rearrange and book somewhere else. The day of the baby shower arrived and we were squished into the corner of the restaurant, there was an insufficient amount of staff and the young girl serving behind the bar lacked any customer service manners and we were constantly having to wait for drinks whilst she was making teas and coffees for other tables, afternoon tea came which was nothing special and definitely wasn’t worth the £22.95. This is the second occasion we have experienced poor quality of service and food from the Blas restaurant only a few weeks prior I had booked a spa day with afternoon tea and was told we had to have a light lunch instead as this is was the reservation team had put down although I’d prepaid for the spa and afternoon tea, we then ordered from the lunch menu which we were told to and had to pay extra, food was substandard burnt chips with the food which was inedible. I gave you the benefit of the doubt after the spa day experience but with yesterdays afternoon tea experience we won’t be returning! You claim to be a 4 star resort and have 4 star prices but your standards and service are more like 3 star. The restaurant manager that day was pleasant when I addressed all my concerns but told me she wasn’t in a position to be able to do anything, this seemed bizarre with her claiming to be the manager and informed me that I would need to take my complaint up with the reservations team on Monday. This resort has definitely slipped in service since there’s been a change in management for sure!

Negative experience: What appalling customer service - we have phoned over 10 times To book a spa voucher treatment and the phone is NEVER answered ! Paid for hog roast (embarrassing) very very poor food/accompaniements and display. Asked general manager about tills and he said wi fi down I asked where was your back up plan, didnt have one? Karaoke DJ very good, Rooms very good, breakfast took an age to come and was wrong ? Absolute shambles and unproffessional setup.Staff at reception very good, bar staff very poor need much more training and friendlier attitude except for Freddie Mercury(Paul)

Negative experience: How this place is 4 stars I will never know. I took my stepmother for afternoon tea for her birthday never again and frankly if people think this is the best afternoon tea the valleys has to offer then they need to get out more. Absolutely shocking. As soon as we got there an older couple in front of us whom were waiting to be seen said it was a shambles or a place. I'd wish we had turned around and gone elsewhere. -Dirty used crokery and glasses left on the tables until you leave. Not 4 star service -No acknowledgement of arrival for almost 10 minutes. Not 4 star service -No offer of additional drinks, not checked on during our afternoon tea at all. Not a four star service -Mountains of dust and cobwebs about the place. I won't even go there -afternoon tea was room temperature and had clearly been sitting out for some time.the scones were stale and the cakes were tasteless. Also tuna mayo for afternoon tea? That's something you get from Greggs. Not worth just under £60 for two people at all. Half arsed service from the front of house Emilio. If he is the best memeber of staff for front of house on a Saturday then that tells you alll you need to know about the place. The place wasn't even busy! Retraining needed if this is a 4 star experience were waiting as he and another manager looked to be dealing with a complaint. We didn't know we had to go to the podium to wait to be seated. Becaue nobody was there. We queued at the bar to be told to go back to the podium. I've never in my life seen a front of house memeber so slow and uninterested in life. Emilio completely failed to reassure my stepmother about cross contamination of peanuts in the kitchen because he literally couldn't be bothered to explain it to her properly. I had to reassure her that a disclaimer of suppliers being unable to completely confirm that there is no cross contamination when you get food from suppliers is common disclaimer. We should have just left then. My stepmother being polite said the actual drinking tea itself was lovely to which he said its was just tetleys. For £60. Better off going down to Cardiff or somewhere a bit more central for a special afternoon tea because Brynmeadows is all fur coat no knickers.

Fantastic experience: AMAZING Hotel. Friendly, attentive staff. Very clean room. We had the premier suite which had beautiful dual aspect views of the surrounding countryside. We booked the spa package with treatment and it was such a clean, relaxing experience. The food was outstanding, all cooked fresh. Thoroughly recommend this hotel 100%

Positive experience: Sunday Lunch - Birthday meal - 14Aug 2022 Good bits - Very nice dining room with wonderful views - friendly helpful staff - very large portions of food - great desserts. Not so good - we had 3 x Roast Lamb - the meat was dry and overcooked - tough as boot leather. A smaller quantity cooked well would have been much better. I don't know how long this meat sat sliced and waiting to be served but no Chef worth his salt should have allowed this to leave the kitchen. People say complaints should be raised at the time but on a family outing no one wants to spoil the celebratory atmosphere . Fortunately reviews allow and opportunity for feedback to the service provider who you hope will look at the point raised.

Negative experience: Order was messed up We asked if the vegetarian Glamorgan sausage starter could be had as a main course. The expectation was for a larger than starter portion, it wasn't, and tbh even as a starter it was a tiny portion and we were actually unsure if there was a sausage at all. They only took off the price of the starter and gave 1 free drink, should have given more recompense, they would happily take a 10% tip if they got the chance I bet. Btw quite expensive too

Fantastic experience: This is one of the best golf courses in Wales in my opinion and the hotel doesn't disappoint either. The bar is also lovely along with the restaurant and the course itself is very challenging however one of the best I've played on. There's also a more for the children cource so great for the beginners. If your looking for lessons they also offer those and have some exceptional coaches. If your looking for a golf cource this is the one!

Positive experience: Course is really good. Breakfast was OK. Beer alright not really anything to my taste. Evening meals not great expensive and food not brilliant. Burger bun was stale. Cheese board I had was poor the last night my friends was better. Overall good staff course and rooms. Work needed with the food it's too expensive too be that poor.
