Fantastic experience: we go disability swimming here on a Saturday such an enjoyable activity to do so quite and nice as I absolutely hate busy places also the staff are really friendly and nice i really love it and I keep doing this activity on a Saturday when i can and would recommend anyone looking for a swimming baths to go here.

Negative experience: The classes are too strenuous and stressful. Difficult to get your money back. The health and safety of the individual is NOT considered. The classes are NOT enjoyable. Classes need to be taught at the ability of the least able please. Thank you

Fantastic experience: I enjoy going to the gym here. All the staff that have been here for years are very helpful and nice when you need them. I like that there are all different people who attend from people who look like they run marathons to people who walk slowly on the running machines and everyone in between.

Fantastic experience: I've been going to John smeaton leisure centre gym for many years, it has always been the most friendly gym and staff that I have been too. It's warm, and welcoming, with helpful staff. I wouldn't consider going anywhere else.

Positive experience: Great sports centre. I love to go swimming but I think the pool is a bit narrow and crowded at times when doing lane swim. Fearnville is much better with wider lanes for lane swimming

Negative experience: Facilities poorly kept and staff inept. Making bookings is not made easy regardless of whether you choose to use their online system or book over the phone. Appalled at what a waste my £160 annual subscription has been - do not pay for their membership scheme, they are a complete rip off and you can't get your money back.

Positive experience: Brilliant for playing Badminton. Great court's and lighting. The only thing that lets this place down is the changing room. Each week I have to rinse the floor in the shower. The shower heads have never been looked at, even when I reported that there's more water spraying the wall rather than me. At one point there was mud on the wall and it was there over 3 weeks, until I reported it to reception. The receptionist came to have a look and that's when I showed him the shower head. 6 weeks later the shower still leaks and the cleaner still doesn't clean properly but it is better.

Positive experience: Best for children swimming lessons

Positive experience: Very clean, welcoming and some great facilities.

Fantastic experience: My only objection is that swim time is limited to 1hr. It's a public facility therefore public should be able to go Swimming anytime during the day for as long as they want. If it's not going to be fully open and non restrictive to public might as well privatised them all.

Fantastic experience: I would just like to thank John Smeaton team today for saving the day!!! I live in Selby and was looking after my grandson today while his mum had an appointment so I took him along for a swim in my local pool Selby only to be told rather abruptly we can't just turn up we should have booked!!! I had checked their timetable and looked at swim times where It didn't say anything about booking first (my grandson is autistic and had told every person in his little world he was going swimming with granny) so I had to take him home but decided to try at John Smeaton near where he lives and thank goodness,,, we where informed we could swim at the next slot 2pm but had to wait as its a first come first served swim time.... the girls on Recep where lovely and we got in hurrrrrah for Leeds Council facility for making a little boy very happy (and granny too) well-done.

Fantastic experience: Great venue for a party. Coaches Rebecca and Ryan delivered a fantastic gymnastic party. Everyone had a brilliant time.

Negative experience: It's theoretically possible but practically impossible to book basketball here ("the system has changed", "I don't know how to do it) and the very nice staff are never able to help. Person at reception not wearing a mask. Merry Christmas.

Positive experience: Easy to access leisure centre with its own car parking. A wide variety of gym equipment and facilities are available. There are outdoor pitches and indoor courts. There is also a swimming pool. The staff are very helpful and the prices are reasonable. A couple of vending machines and a small table in the entrance area are available, but I am certain a cafe would be welcomed by the leisure centre's users and those who are waiting for them. The facilities are clean and modern, but some improvements could be made.

Positive experience: Obviously I don’t like the fact that there are only certain times I can go swimming (any leisure centre), but this one is the cleanest leisure centre I’ve been to in Leeds. I liked it so much I’ll definitely be coming back for swimming sessions and more. With my student membership I can visit any leisure centre, present my Leeds card and come in, no need to take money with me.

Negative experience: I don't know, I just want to have a leasurely swim in the pool shortly after I get there, unfortunately for me the website is a load of gobbledygook and well it's just stressed me out of going. A general notice board pool open pool closed and times, see variations due to events below.

Fantastic experience: I love John Smeaton Leisure Centre I feel at all there I have good friends there I love the gym is top class is never busy and it's they always there to help you the swimming baths are top class as well I give them both 10 out of 10 I love my colleagues there ever talk to them I've got special needs they look after me but it will and they say my life in January I love my life and you look good any better Leisure Centre at John Smeaton that's my opinion is it's the best at one in a million and out of this world to me from Simon Rothery judo expert and player

Positive experience: as a council gym, you get what is says on the box. Great staff, plenty of machines - although maintenance could be quicker on them - very busy in the free weights area - but this is the case in most gyms.

Positive experience: Good swimming teaching staff, parking a real nightmare in football season during the weekends. Good for the additional classes such as boxercise etx.

Fantastic experience: Really genuinely good facilities. Clean and modern too.
