The West Hants Club: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Love this place , joined this place about 8 months ago ago , was recommended to me by a family friend. The introduction to the club was done by one of the membership team her name Christa . The visit was all about the club and what they can offer to help me make a decision. I was never forced join the club even though I had another appointment with a different club . But the first impression did it all for me . I love the café./ bar you can have all sort of hot or cold food after a nice work out . The pool is nice and warm all the time . They do run some clubs in the morning so make sure you have the time table . Showers are clean too . Yet I have not used the gym or any of the classes but they do look good. All in all love the place and definitely recommend it . Thanks Laith
Fantastic experience: I came down for the NCL finals. I can’t say any better about this club, service was unbelievable! We were 30/40 strong supporting our club and every staff member was friendly, efficient & hospitable. The facilities were amazing, the rain came for most of the weekend but I was sable to enjoy a set or two outside on the Saturday! Thanks you to all the staff that worked that weekend. I’m sure I probably learnt your name but forgot!! They are all an asset to your club and they deserve the applaud
Fantastic experience: We love it at Westhants! It feels safe and like a home away from home. The coaches and staff are lovely and my son loves to train there.
Negative experience: Some reception is a bit rude not all though nice club.
Positive experience: Great club for families
Fantastic experience: Lovely gym
Fantastic experience: We have recently moved down to Talbot Woods from Croydon and have just joined the *West Hants Club*. We visited the facility over Christmas and had a trial swim etc. last weekend. The staff were absolutely wonderful, cheerful, friendly and very helpful. After our session we signed up straight away to join as members to this excellent local facility. Both Christa, Jourdan in membership made it all very easy to sign up and have already booked a number of classes as well. We also met Peter the manager who was very supportive and answered all our questions. This club raises the bar to a 'new level' of what can be expected at such a facility. If you are looking for a Health Club in this local area, look no further, you really won't be disappointed.
Fantastic experience: Great place for all the family. Staff are all lovely and helpful. The kids love the tennis lessons - Def recommend.
Fantastic experience: West Hants is for certain the most well run club I have been a member of . From start to finish customer service is on point , facility’s always spotless , food exceptional and the crèche service is a hidden gem ! It really is shame I have to leave due to my child starting nursery as the club hosts an exceptional community feel and top management . Great value for money
Fantastic experience: Fantastic experience every time i go. Amazing staff, very friendly and a brilliant place for family!
Negative experience: It’s not only unpleasant too have to write this but it is also an unpleasant experience to be apart of west Hants so called tennis club. The facilities are amazing and have no ends of potential to them if used properly they really have got the potential to be an elite sports club. But in actual fact the only thing they make is stale cake and horrible staff such as the head bar worker Julian who is not only unbelievably rude to me but to everyone. All I have heard is complaints about such a man he is really not a nice piece of work kicking people of court early and bluntly but has no manners at all in all honesty I can’t stand the guy. Mia behind the bar is a little star and is very polite and welcoming so are the reception workers but Mia has stood out too me especially. Peter has not only been rude and unwelcoming but I really can’t talk about how bad he has been and how poorly the club is run now. Those two staff have made the whole experience if west Hants one of the worst I can possibly imagine and now we can hardly play tennis because of the very poor management from a horrible head of staff no one likes. Overall very unimpressed.
Fantastic experience: Great club for tennis and working out, although you need to be a member which isn't cheap. Tennis courts are very nice and well kept, and the gym was in similarly excellent shape, with lots of machines and not too busy. They have a cafe (and possibly also serve food there?) But I didn't try those. If you're looking for a high end tennis club, this is a great option
Fantastic experience: Pauline in the Pro Shop at West Hants was fantastic in helping my find the right racket. I really valued her expertise and how she listened to me to understand what I was after. Great service and I will be returning to the shop in the future. Thank you.
Fantastic experience: Club, offers everything you would expect from a top tennis club, staff courteous and helpful, food great value and facilities second to none, proud to be associated with the club.
Negative experience: Great facilities, staff let the place down. Front of house never acknowledge you, either do the gym staff. They make you feel uncomfortable if anything. There is never any member interaction, the gym staff sit around chatting to one another or on their phones. The gates at reception are always open, so there is probably a lot of non members coming and going as they please, the front of house don't care as they never look up. Can never get booking a tennis court and only manage to get the odd cancelation, probably due to non members being allowed in to play tennis. ( This defeats the purpose of paying an expensive membership to play tennis when you can never get to play).Car park is always packed during the week, again lots of people using it to park their cars for work that don't use the club. Management on the defence if you mention this and make out know one else feels the same about the club, which I'm sure isn't the case. Overall, the club staff don't feel the need to care about its members because there is no competition or any other club to compete with in Bournemouth. Its a well established club with long term members, so there is always a full membership retention. The bar staff and tennis coaches are great, front of house and gym staff let the place down big time. After being a member now for 1 year, my fiancé and I will not be renewing our membership. We have had not one hello from the reception team since being there, even when we say hello, they cant even be bothered to say hello back, too busy on their phones. Gym equipment is dated and is never maintained. Ive mentioned to the gym staff of running machines that slip, aren't calibrated and that you cant put the speed down when you go over a certain speed, 1 year in and no change. These machines are dangerous to use and the staff don't care as they clearly don't check them even when told there is faults. Membership team will email generic emails to you, even when you make a complaint ( my fiancé and I both got the exact same email when we made totally different complaints), which is quite insulting, proving that they just don't care. If you're looking for a good gym and any kind of membership experience then this is not the place for you. We have only managed to play tennis a handful of times in the year we have been members. The staff are awful, the Personal Trainers are very inexperienced going by how they conduct a P.T session with clients who unfortunately don't know any better. Like I said before. This place has no competition and because of this they can be how they like, lump it or leave it attitude. Ive been in the fitness industry for over 30 years and this is the worst club I've ever been in. They would not last 5 min in London with this poor service and bad attitude towards its members.
Positive experience: Bar is okay tennis facilities are fantastic, gym supervisor was rude and seemed racist
Fantastic experience: Very nice feel to the club. Sensible but not over the top Covid measures.
Fantastic experience: What an amazing place! Warm welcome, friendly atmosphere and great food! What more does an athlete want
Fantastic experience: Amazeballs!
Positive experience: The West Hants club or ‘Westy’ as me and my tennis pals refer to it is probably my favourite tennis spot in Bournemouth. Apart from a range of clay, hard and grass courts the club also has a cracking swimming pool, with separate lanes for fast, medium and slow. The only reason I would say five stars is the male change has no separate cubicles for the more shy of us but overall a great place to come, have a couple sets, a swim and perhaps a refreshing drink and the café.
Fantastic experience: Amazing place to play
Fantastic experience: Great friendly club been a member here for nearly 21 years, good variety of classes, airconditioned studio and gym. Good sized swimming pool, numerous tennis courts , indoor courts, squash, paddle tennis. The restaurant is good and they have many other facilities ie large TVs to watch sport .
Positive experience: Very nice facilities and excellent class instructors with a good variety of classes. Friendly reception staff. Indoor tennis courts an advantage in the winter. Popular classes need to be booked well in advance so if you have a set routine this may work for you.
Positive experience: Decided to use The West Hants Club to host our Christening party. We held the Christening of our little Louis at St Mark Church so ideally wanted somewhere close so we didn't have to travel far on a Sunday afternoon. The intial booking process was easy and for reasons unknown we had been quoted less than we should have and this was honoured even though someone probably got in to trouble. The service finished a little earlier than expected so on arrival we headed straight to the function room. As we have family members registered as members we didn't have to pay for the hire. We had ordered afternoon tea and sandwiches for the 8 or so children we had in the party. There was also jugs of juice for them and the function room backed on to a children play area so they could easily be kept occupied. Our afternoon tea arrived on time and was very nicely presented with a good selection of fillings. To accompany them we had a couple of bowls of crisps. The talking point though was the scones. They had been freshly made that morning and came with a choice of fruit or plain. As you would expect there was some lovely cream and fruit jam with a side of strawberries. I have to say that they were the best scones I've ever had. The staff were helpful and we even had an extra round of sandwiches when asked. a perfect setting for any group big or small and would certainly look at using The West Hants Club again.
Fantastic experience: Superb club, great facilities.
