Positive experience: Overcrowded and difficult to find parking space

Positive experience: The gym is basic , open 24 hours. Weds eve 6:45pm there's a Zumba class the teacher is very good my wife tells me

Negative experience: This is the most basic and worst gym I ever been. The cleanliness is hanging , hygiene are so poorly . you will go next to lockers and exercise machines you will find tissues , water spills , its normal around this gym .On Windows is dust and spiderwebs hanging , on a ceilings its looks so dark and depressing with all those spiderwebs. not gym environment at all to make you fresh and happy.

Positive experience: Good kit, super easy parking and pretty clean. lots of friendly smiles from the staff

Negative experience: NOT ENOUGH KIT Very basic gym. Worst Puregym in Stockport it has less equipment that Stockport south, Denton & Debdale, yet is more expensive? Many people have noted that this gym can get busy, another way of looking at it is there isn't enough equipment, despite there being space for more and other layout options. I have been in at 9pm ish on a Sunday night,15 people in the free weight section, 10 people in the fixed resistance machines area and 2 people on cardio kit. NOONE was in the functional or stretch areas! You have the ratio wrong! I've been in many times and encountered similar patterns of use. Because you only have one of each machine even if there are few people in the gym you end up waiting to use stuff. Or if a machine is broken you have no alternative. Matrix makes several iterations of their machines it would be nice if you could provide them. the chest press you have only provides a pronated grip. Matrix make a chest press that has both pronated and neutral (Aura ChestPress G3-S10) this machine also follows a more similar pattern to the bench press as it has more of a J- curve to it. they have a different version of the row (Aura SeatedRow G3-S31). It would be great to have a seated leg curl as studies show they are better for hypertrophy. Additionally pregnant women are not supposed to exercise in prone (bending forward) so really they shouldn't use the lying one. Overweight people and those with mobility difficulties ,might also find the seated version more suitable! Both the leg presses you have are rubbish, which leaves me with no secondary squat movement (aggravating). I have used the matrix hack squat before (its not great) (I've used precor, cybex and hammer strength) but would take the matrix hack as a last resort. I have seen Matrix do something called a perfect squat. How about some Precor kit, puregym have service contracts with them. Please get more equipment in the stretch area or move cardio kit there and expand the fix weight section towards the entrance, this could allow for a MINIMUM 4 more machines. You don't need to be asinine regarding carpet for fixed weights & cardio, its fine to just move the kit. The rack with kettlebells on could be moved, opening up the resistance section for AT LEAST 3 more machines. It wouldn't hurt to have some heavier Kettlebells. this gym should be on 2 levels. If you had of built a mezzanine level you could have had a Mecca of a gym. The kit possibilities would have been great. It is too late now and would cause disruption to do this. However I think you should have a mezzanine over the stretch area as that would create more floor space with minimal disruption. It seems to me puregym lack ambition, but I guess that's obvious as they use bottom of the barrel matrix machines.There was a cleaning station in the free weight area, when this was removed I was hoping it would be replaced with a machine but nothing has been added? You saw it fit to have a big cleaning station so I can't accept any arguments about restricted space as you had something there! I have tried early morning 5am ish but both squat racks were in use and I'm not happy using the blkbox racks as there are no safety arms. Your advice to members complaining its too busy is to try quieter times but that is not always possible due to work, family etc and as demonstrated I couldn't do my workout at 5am due to lack of kit! Spotter arms would allow exercises like pin presses in addition to the added safety which is important as members may sometimes be training alone! Just because you are busy doesn't mean your doing a good job, I train here and hate it but its in a convenient location for me so I keep coming. I'm really not asking for much. It's embarrassing that there are INDEPENDENT gyms like ep iron jungle in bredbury, grandnasium & x fitenss in hazel grove that are better that a multinational gym chain with tons of cash like puregym. Unfortunately for me they are not easy for me to always get to regularly which I why I have to SETTLE for DEPRESSING puregym.

Positive experience: Very clean can be busy but the app let's you know when is best to visit. Alot of choice.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely love the classes at this gym. Some of the best PTs, who go above and beyond to keep everyone motivated and working hard. Special shoutouts to Matt and Tyrone, the classes wouldn’t be the same without them.

Fantastic experience: Significantly nicer than puregym Stockport south. Lay out much better and more logical and the tall ceilings make it feel less like a cave.

Fantastic experience: I love the classes at this gym. Matt’s pump and LBT classes are super fun. He’s a star and one of the main reasons I look forward to going. Even inspired me to start running!! Kate’s step class is absolutely fabulous. All of the above classes are excellently co-ordinated, well instructed with high energy fun music.

Positive experience: Brilliant Gym and loads of equipment. I am always able to get in a decent workout even if that means sacrificing weights for cardio at really busy times. Recommended.

Fantastic experience: Good clean gym, does get a little bit busy during peak times but I’ve found if I got during quieter times in the days it’s easier for myself and equipment availability. Very friendly staff members. Plenty of parking, just remember to enter your car registration.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to the gym with my family for close on 2 years now. With the help of Kate, Matt and the other excellent trainers I have improved my physical and mental health significantly. Matt’s classes are tough but fulfilling and he has a great work ethic which inspires my family.

Positive experience: I have been to a few classes now at PureGym I have to say I think they’re really good value. I have just been to to the hit class and legs, bums, and tums and really enjoyed them. One of the instructors Mateuz who led the legs, bums, and tums I thought, did a really good job of demonstrating and explaining the class. It was very clear, well led, fun he was enthusiastic and friendly and also an excellent music choice.! I look forwards to another class My only small issue is that with a couple of the classes, the music is too loud to hear what the instructors are saying. I also think the circuit class for beginners is very difficult because it’s fast pace and there isn’t time to really bespoke and explain it so you can find yourself doing an exercise not very well or the weights are too heavy and not right. But to be fair, I find that in a lot of exercise classes and I would always say for beginners it’s better to get some personalised PT to understand how to do the exercises properly.. Well done, would definitely recommend to others

Positive experience: Trudno ocenić jest całkiem spoko . Masz parking duży z przodu i tyłu budynku . masz wiate dla rowerów . W środku masz szatnie, tak wiem standard. Masz prysznice zaniedbane . Nigdy jescze nie zastałem czystego albo zeby woda nie stała na podłodze przed prysznicem. Sprzętu treningowego powinno być więcej. W godzinach których jestem trudno jest znaleźć coś wolnego . Odpowiadając na pytania czemu nie zmienisz godzin wstępu , ta ja próbuję dostosować hobby do czasu który mam . A nie jest to łatwe . To moje subiektywne odczucie i opinia . Dobrze jesli była pomocna .

Negative experience: Sort your equipment out guys, got on 2 treadmills tonight, put on incline and they both dropped back down to the ground within a few minutes, one closest to the exit and the one on the back row second closest to the exit

Fantastic experience: Plenty of free parking. Staff and clientele are friendly and helpful. I've mostly done classes, all of which I have enjoyed. The place is relaxing, spotlessly clean and the equipment modern and easy to use. I feel happy to go there on my own.

Fantastic experience: This was my "home" gym while visiting from the US. The atmosphere and location were great. The staff was friendly and helpful. The gym was clean and had a good variety of equipment and area to move around. I will definitely be back when in the greater Manchester area!

Positive experience: This is a good gym, well equipped and clean. Plenty of parking space. The price is lower than at it's competitors. The gym has all of the facilities you would expect in a budget gym like Pure Gym. There is only one but big problem, it gets extremally busy in peak hours with virtually all machines being taken. If you're flexible with your needs and can train at anything, then it might be OK. However, if you have a training plan, you might find it very hard to execute it in peak hours.

Negative experience: Too busy to do a workout during the day which is fair enough. But they don't turn the air conditioning on at night so it is unbearably hot in the summer. There is always at least one piece of equipment broken that takes numerous days to be fixed.

Negative experience: Update 06/08/24 Disabled facilities unclean, no shower curtain and often in use by others who don't need it. Wouldn't wash my dog in there. All brand new equipment, busy at peak times, friendly staff and usually clean facilities. Shame disabled facilities shared and not under radar key/only disabled accessible.

Positive experience: Great gym overall, one of the best in the area. Decent kit, lots of options of machines, clean and 24/7. Really good value for money. Just lost a star because it could be so much better. As others have mentioned they could do with adding more kit. Doing so would elevate the gym massively. Like a previous poster has mentioned the CrossFit/functional area is very large. It would perhaps be better to use some of that space to house some of the current equipment in order to make room for more stuff. For example the fixed weight barbels and the ab bench could both be put in that area. Which would free up room in the free weights area for additional benches and perhaps a hack squat and even additional rack or other plate loaded equipment. Space is taken up by massive cleaning stations which could easily be affixed to the wall, like they are in the studio. Again opening up space in both the machine weights/ cardio area and free weights for additional machines. The stretch area near the studio is also much too large for its purpose. And again could house extra equipment, or move current equipment into there to create room elsewhere. Finally it would be really useful if the blk box racks had spotter arms. Overall the gym is fantastic but it could be a lot better, it's not fulfilling it's potential.

Positive experience: Clean facilities, a bit overcrowded at peak times, not big enough, should enforce customers to apply deodorant at the door.

Negative experience: Worst gym I've ever been to, Tom one of the assistant managers there just walks around with a feather duster and takes his anger out on customers, he also enjoys coming into the male changing rooms and listening to people's conversations and watching them get changed, showers are in terrible condition you'll easily catch a disease if you used them, the whole facility is not maintained properly. Can't speak for other pure gyms but this is easily the worst place I've ever trained at, happily spend my money elsewhere

Positive experience: The gym is great but the cleaning staff early morning is rude and complains when you want to use the changing rooms! Spoils the whole gym experience

Negative experience: Worst PureGym I have ever visited, I have attended the gym 7 times in the mornings. There are only 3 men’s showers one of them was broken for 2 weeks then the 3rd week another broke. I heard from other gym members it had been broken 6 weeks. Only 1 male toilet (that’s a joke in itself) I was late for work because of this 3 times as you had to queue for the shower and the men’s changing room is tiny !! The gym isn’t well divided up in terms of space . The weights section is too small and the CrossFit section is too big. Way too busy to function in the morning due to the above reasons. Huge floor space going to waste. I asked PureGym for a refund and was refused one . Very very disappointing experience.

Negative experience: We recently started going to this gym. Tonight, while we were training, someone stole my boyfriend's shoes in the locker room. There is no information on the website where to address this problem, and the staff was no longer there at that time. The mood is completely spoiled and it's a shame that such a contingent goes to this gym, for which theft is the norm.

Positive experience: This is a small gym and they are missing some machines I like to use such as the back extension weight machine. Reasonably priced though.

Negative experience: Because your website is misleading. I’m already a member and pay extra to use multiple gyms all over the country. When I wanted help from PureGym there was no one I could contact. I tried pressing the button at the gym (Stockport North) and no one came to help. I ended up having to pay extra for myself and my partner to train two days and use your showers. Also, the car park is only 2 hours there which isn’t much time to train and have a shower. I had to leave after training and come back just so that I could reset the time I was in the car park. When I complained through Twitter, PureGym sent me a link to click on which didn’t work. The customer service was appalling. I have now asked for the details to head office and I will be asking for a subject access request if I’m not compensated with the extra money I had to spend because of this. Regards, Adam.

Fantastic experience: I'm loving the classes. Warm and friendly instructors. I can push myself as much as I want and take it easy if I'm particulary tired but still getting a good workout.

Fantastic experience: Recently moved to the area and needed a new gym. I have used PureGyms other locations oreviously and have never been disappointed. The gym is usually busy at the times you would expect (5/6/7pm), but there are a lot of machines and free weights so I have never experienced and queues. Offers a lot of classes and the changing room facilities are average. Free parking if you enter your cars registration plate. Cant really complain at the price you pay per month.

Fantastic experience: Great gym. Was a bit worried before signing up but its really friendly, the instructors are lovely, there's a lunchtime class daily (half an hour which is perfect). Its really clean and the shower and toilet facilities are nice. They also do events and there was sweets for Halloween!

Fantastic experience: Lack of spin studio and the advanced body composition machine found in every other puregym stops it from 6 stars if I could give it. Great value, very friendly down to earth staff, running great classes, shout out to Tyrone, Bo, Dan and Daisy for the great classes and the fact they pull together with the rest of the staff as a team to represent the Stockport North branch.

Positive experience: The gym in itself was good when I was a member. Lots of equipment and kit. Clean toilets, changing rooms etc. The only problem was the classes which were horrendously over subscribed and you were crammed in a tiny room without enough space or equipment to do the class. I'm no longer a member and go to a different gym now.

Negative experience: Nice gym with new equipment… BUT pretty unbearable to train at night as they DON’T have the air conditioning on (even though it’s stated on the website - Full air con), so if it’s been a hot day it becomes a sweat box…(PureGyms response to this, by the cluster Manager Lauren Retford was… “After having a conversation with Puregym’s facilities manager on your matter regarding air conditioning, I can confirm that Stockport North’s air conditioning alike with other gyms, automatically switches off between the hours of 10:00pm until 05:00am based on historical energy usage across the organisation” Now this isn’t the case at Stockport South as the air con is on all the times) … some of cleaning stations at night weren’t working as they were empty and obviously not been filled, (again the response from the cluster Manager was “ I can confirm that the cleaning stations within the gym are stocked adequately for the night time operations”… they are NOT ADEQUATE), and one time I trained in there, there was sweets and mess and trip hazards all over the floor, from a re-launch event, which could be a health and safety issue (they don’t seem to have a night cleaner like they do at Stockport South)… and last thing is the lights in the car park weren’t on… this Gym could be so much better but I guess it’s down to bad management…

Positive experience: Good clean gym, staff are friendly as well they smile and say hello to you. A few things I wish that could be improved on: only one toilet in the men’s changing room, wish they had more variety in terms of weight lifting machines, and also there are barely any windows.

Positive experience: Great brand new gym lovely and fresh and nice welcoming staff. Only downside I have it that the cleaning stations for covid security were not all working and only one spray out of four was working and I felt this was poor management of cleaning facilities. Otherwise lovely gym, easy to use (though a good induction programme to show how to use equipment would be great)
