PureGym Linlithgow: Opinions
Positive experience: Small gym making the most of limited equipment and space to provide a good and convenient place to work out. 24 hour access and shared membership with other pure gyms (for an added price) is a benefit. Staff keep the location clean and organised however there has been a fire/smoke alarm beeping for 3 weeks in the hall way to the changing area. Community here is small but friendly.

Fantastic experience: I like this place. It's clean and folks just get on with their own thing. The traffic thing on their app showing when it is busy and quiet is really handy

Positive experience: Would be 5 stars if the gym had the sports water machine available as I pay for the plus membership for the fact of the water but the machine isn’t there

Positive experience: Went today using a day pass. Lots of wasted space and limited free weights. Only one standard bench, only one squat rack (although there are two squat stands if you're happy to lift without safety bars) and most critically no GHD machine. So much room (and money) spent on overly complex machines that in practice will be rarely used. Get rid of those huge pulley machines, put in another bench and squat rack and a GHD and it would be a lot better. The place itself was fine - clean and well maintained, just hasn't been planned or laid out particularly well. Back to Xcite for me which has a superior gym, especially after its recent extension.

Fantastic experience: Great gym, smaller than other PureGyms but still great. All the equipment is clean and tidy. Staff are really helpful and friendly, Grant gave me a rundown of where everything was. Glad I joined!

Positive experience: Bit smaller than I was expecting but there is a good selection of equipment, classes on offer. Nice and clean, well kept and quite quiet which suits me great. Will be considering taking out a full membership.
Fantastic experience: I've not used Puregym for a few years due to them being over crowded, but Linlithow is nice, not too busy. Plenty of good quilty equipment, and space. Clean and tidy and plenty of parking too at a resonable price. Also 24 hours so I can go when I like without worying about opening times.

Positive experience: Very open plan, which I like and 6/7 squat racks in total. Seems pretty small, but I liked it non the less. Everything you need, plus studios upstairs.

Positive experience: While it is smaller than I expected it does have all the gym kit you need for a decent workout. The room for aerobic classes is upstairs and partially open to the gym downstairs so when there is a group class it is quite noisy in the gym and it drowns out music playing in the gym. Also only one drinking fountain which is upstairs, nothing on the gym floor. Overall clean and tidy gym with good selection of equipment and weights.

Negative experience: Just another bog standard pure gym, cheap commercial kit. The gym is small and not enough decent kit, Poor layout and over priced.

Positive experience: Decent enough assuming it’s not overly busy. Not a great selection of equipment, especially compared to other Puregyms. No plate loaded machines and dumbbells only up to 40kg. Couldn’t see any water dispensers and seemed like air con wasn’t on. Very basic and for the (full) price there’s better gyms in the surrounding areas.

We always aim to provide a broad spread of kit to cater to a range of fitness needs and meet demand as it changes through the day, getting the balance right between weights and cardio, but if you have any specific suggestions please approach the Gym Manager or leave a note in the feedback box, which is regularly reviewed. you can speak to staff on site about the water fountain locations! We have recently made slight changes to the air conditioning, looking at improving energy efficiency to both to control our energy usage, but also with a look to reduce our carbon footprint. By law, we have a requirement to provide a certain amount of fresh air based on occupancy levels, and our ventilation system increases and decreases at different times throughout the day and night, making sure we meet these requirements and provide good air movement around the gyms. These levels are based on size of the gym, and occupancy levels, and are regularly monitored. On occasion, we can get faults on our ventilation and AC systems which is normal. When this happens, there is a process in place to ensure we arrange for our contractors to attend, investigate and resolve the faults and return the systems back to full working order within a timely manner. Negative experience: I have been a member of a few Pure Gyms in Edinburgh since 2012, so was looking forward to the gym opening in Linlithgow. It opened yesterday (18th August 2023) and I visited this morning. A few issues I have: * 2 of my previous Pure Gyms in Edinburgh were Craigleith and Gorgie. Both of these gyms are more than twice the size of Linlithgow Pure Gym. Gorgie is £22.99 per month and Craigleith is £25.99 per month, Core. Linlithgow will be £25.99 per month Core, after the 6 month promo of £14.99. This is far too expensive for this size of gym in Linlithgow and the surrounding areas. The new Pure Gym opening in Falkirk in September 2023, will be £10.99 for the first 10 months and then £20.99 after that. This will also be a larger gym. £18.99 after the initial 6 months, would be a much more reasonable price for Linlithgow. * Whoever had the bright idea of facing all 6 treadmills towards a large white wall in a dark corner of the gym, has obviously never set foot on a treadmill! No one wants to run or walk on a treadmill and have to stare at a wall. Please either add mirrors all along the wall to give the Illusion of looking out, whilst also being able to see into the gym behind you. Or turn the treadmills around to face into the gym! * You have known this gym was opening for quite some time and yet, there were no materials to clean or wipe down the equipment after use. We've only just come out of a pandemic. No one wants to have to use a piece of equipment that's covered in someone else's sweat! * The gym was boiling. I'd rather it was warm than too cold, but either some air con or fans would be a very good idea, unless you want people passing out! * Not enough weight benches. 3 weight benches for a gym is nowhere near enough. This is a small gym, so I imagine on a Monday evening, there will be a lot of people standing around, waiting to use equipment. All of the above is very disappointing, especially given the amount of time that you've known this gym was opening and the amount of time we've all had to wait for it to open. Please can you sort all of the above out immediately. These are all issues which can be easily rectified. If there have been no changes soon, then I definitely won't be returning and I know I won't be the only one!

PureGym prides itself on being able to offer state of the art fitness facilities to our members in a safe and welcoming environment. We developed industry-leading cleaning and hygiene protocols to help keep our members and employees safe and we’re proud to say that many of the protocols implemented during lockdown, such as frequent and regular cleaning, and improvements to our air ventilation systems, will continue to be a core part of our TrainSafe Commitment. We have recently made slight changes to the air con area, looking at improving energy efficiency to both to control our energy usage, but also with a look to reduce our carbon footprint. With regards to the temperature in the gym, we use air conditioning units which heat the air when it drops below 17.5C, and cools the air when it goes higher than 21.5C, keeping the temperature within the gym at an acceptable level. This is regularly checked to ensure the units are operating as they should be across all of our gyms. On occasion, we can get faults on our ventilation and AC systems which is normal. When this happens, there is a process in place to ensure we arrange for our contractors to attend, investigate and resolve the faults and return the systems back to full working order within a timely manner. All member feedback is reviewed, and brought to the attention of our Facilities team, who regularly review any changes we make to our gym facilities and all feedback is taken into account when making any future changes. We always aim to provide a broad spread of kit to cater to a range of fitness needs and meet demand as it changes through the day, getting the balance right between weights and cardio, but if you have any specific suggestions please approach the Gym Manager or leave a note in the feedback box, which is regularly reviewed. Positive experience: No aircon in free weights section. AC is now hot which is worse! No water fountain on ground floor. Prices inconsistent with other PureGym sites. Continuously have to login into the WiFi on each visit. No aircon in shower rooms.
