Negative experience: Recently cancelled my membership. They were closed for almost a month and provided no compensation. Only offered alternate location in poole (near Nuffield which is so so far) and Southampton which costs like 10 pounds and an hour to get there. Even when they reopened, the toilets are in terrible state and lockers are literally the worse. The rowing machine’s digital meter/timer is out of battery for over 3 months despite requesting trainers multiple times. I cut them slack for 2-3 months but eventually had to take this decision.

Negative experience: The gym has been closed for several weeks but they still charge for a whole month of membership without refund or extension. Only offered alternative gym locations but not convenient for me at all. Customer service line is outsourced and has no authority to provide any solutions. Emailed to their “complaint” address and received no response. Feels like all they care about is money. Disappointing!

Negative experience: Took my son's money then closed for two weeks so he can't use the gym. Refuse refunds. Awful customer service
Negative experience: I’ve been loyal to the gym group but this location is one of the least nice I’ve been to. I urge the staff to spray the staircase area and to borrow ideas from other locations such as put a ping on memberships for abandoning your weights randomly via CCTV; ask members what other machines/equipment they need more for staff to order; and ensure everyone follows the same rules no matter if a member is your friend. Otherwise, gym is a bit leaky with currently 4-5-6 roof leaks and couple of broken machines. Most members won’t ask before taking your gym stuff. And I miss the weight sleigh and other cable accessories. I wish I could stay but one month was enough. Such a pity considering my brand preference for the gym group.

Fantastic experience: Compared to some of the other sites I’ve been to owned by the same company (TheGym Group) this gym is pretty decent. It’s large and spacious inside and doesn’t feel claustrophobic - plenty of equipment to use. Only downside is parking, it’s almost nonexistent!
Negative experience: Very bad experience in this gym.No respect from Manager.No cleanliness.No gym staffs available after 5 PM though it is mentioned as 24 hrs gym.They never clean their machines.overall it's a worst gym.

Having cleaning stations has resulted in a significant increase in the amount of paper waster and we are focussed on minimising our waste as part of our commitment to Net-Zero. We are proud to be the very first Carbon Neutral Gym Chain in the UK. This is just a part of our efforts, for example we are also taking steps to reduce the amount of single use plastics in our vending machines.
Negative experience: Disrespectful managers who are not following anything as per their agreement of contract with the members. Place with insufficient skill to serve the members in case of any needs. They take money and suddenly will block your access without any notice to the members. Managers of this gym must read the membership agreement before they speak to any members to the gym.

Fantastic experience: Clean environment, plenty of equipment and variety too. Staff really friendly and helpful.
Negative experience: Management has recently decided to remove the cleaning station. The cardio machines are disgusting. Everybody sweats and there is nothing to clean the machines with, they don't get cleaned regularly by the staff and members who bring some old and possibly dirty towels from home just spread germs around. The Gym Group is possibly the least hygienic gym in Dorset.

Negative experience: I invited a friend and we met around 3 pm yesterday which was Sunday. The code from the email invite didn’t work. I generated another code by inviting myself using my second email, and that didn’t work either. The gym wasn’t staffed, so I used an assistance call point by the entrance and called multiple times, but there was no answer. I tried chat in the gym app, but live agents are not available from Thursday to Sunday. There was no phone number I could use. Given that the gym is open 24/7, the lack of contact options is unacceptable.

Negative experience: The gym is usually packed to the brim making it hard to work out but if you hapoen to be free between 12am-6am you can get a decent session in. However, the gym has been closed for 3 days now with 0 update on when it will reopen. Members have been offered The Gym in Poole as a substitute which is a bit if a mockery as it is over an hour away from the Bournemouth gym. For someone like myself who is only able to workout at night (due to work commitments) its impossible to get to the Poole gym without spend £50+ on a taxi. I understand its probably closed for a valid reason but the lack of update and silly substitute option is ridiculous. If it wasn't for the puregym ceo I would've cancelled my membership already and switched over.

Negative experience: I'm a top 10 Nationally ranked Olympic Weightlifter representing the United Kingdom, I first found the sport of Olympic Weightlifting though this gym and have, up until now, enjoyed training here. Although I have now been told I am unable to train for the sport i compete in for some new made up rule. Quite a shame really, I've been training here for just about 2 years now and didn't have a problem until it got busier as it's now summer. This gym doesn't care about it's loyal members, they care only about a seasonal profit. Was told to go join a "weightlifting gym" instead, which the nearest one being 25 miles away.... Will be switching gyms to the much better 3F soon unless I'm allowed to keep training here. Sad to see this gym go. Let your athletes train. They know what they are doing.

Negative experience: One of the worst gym's I been in. Half the lockers in the changing room don't work, loads of the weights are missing and long waiting times to get on everything. Fixed Weights and Kettlbells not heavy enough. Dangerous spongy floor on the freeweights area. Would not recommend.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to the Gym group in Bournemouth for the last couple of years. It's a great gym, affordable with loads of equipment, a great atmosphere and very motivating. Both people and instructors are friendly. What I liked the most when I first joined was the vibrant environment and very clean changing rooms, unlike other gyms where I used to go. It's well located in town and features very large windows with a view over the gardens and the sea, for those who love natural light like I do. I have already recommended to a few friends who joined.

Fantastic experience: Finally decided to start my fitness journey and came here. I was completely clueless as to where to start, but luckily I asked a worker called Fliss for some pointers, and she was wonderful! Gave me very clear instructions and helped guide me through my workout. She was incredibly kind and helpful, and I left the gym feeling great! Would definitely recommend this place, and Fliss even more so!

Negative experience: Three times now I have entered the gym to homeless sleeping rough in there or shooting up heroin in the main foyer. It’s horrible to see and very scary as you have to walk right by them to get up the stairs. Bournemouth is well known for having a big problem with homeless & drug addicts on the streets so it’s beyond me why the main door is left open 24 hours a day. Not to mention the smell is appalling when entering the gym. Tried to report it but never seems to be any staff around. Looking for another gym to join as this is unsafe, uninviting and smelly.

Negative experience: There seems to be a recurring problem with homeless people entering the gym, shooting up, and sleeping rough with all sorts of substances and smells in the main foyer. I have tried to report it several times, however there never seems to be any staff present when these problems happen. Not only is it very unpleasant, but it is a worry for safety when entering the gym alone. May I suggest they invest in fixing the main door so no unauthorised people can gain entry. The worst was when there was 5 of them sat under the stairs clearly using heroin, it was beyond intimidating.

Fantastic experience: Four months ago, I strolled into The Gym Group Bournemouth, a bit clueless and with a dream to get in top shape by December (birthday month goals, you know?). Honestly, I thought it was a mission impossible. Enter my personal trainer, Owen Williams - the Gandalf to my Frodo in this fitness journey. This guy didn't just train me; he basically performed a lifestyle exorcism on me! Owen designed a customized plan that perfectly aligned with my needs, incorporating effective meal plans and exercise routines. His approach not only helped me shed unwanted fat but also significantly boosted my gym confidence and strength. I'm proud to say that investing in this was the best decision I've made this year. The gym itself is a welcoming haven, fostering a sense of community. The staff members are always friendly, with warm smiles. The facility maintains high standards. I've grown so fond of The Gym Group Bournemouth that it feels like my second home. I wholeheartedly recommend this gym to anyone looking to make a positive change in their lifestyle. Fantastic experience: Went here during my years at university. Definitely one of the best gyms I've been to in Bournemouth. Friendly staff, well maintained equipment, and great atmosphere overall! Don't be shy to interact with the staff and other members, especially during peak hours as equipment can be difficult to get a hold on.
Fantastic experience: I joined The Gym Group a month ago, and I am enjoying this experience so far. The staff are very friendly, and the environment is very clean. There are lots of different classes at different times, and the instructors always help you achieve your own full potential. I have been working with Tom; he is very professional, and he keeps me focused on tasks. He always motivates me to keep going when I am about to give up.
Positive experience: Great gym , with loads of equipment, but gets very busy, so I have to go in real early, no parking after 9am ( unless you pay , very loud music, too loud to listen to your own music. The worst thing is most people leave there weights on the machines and it can be a right mess

Negative experience: This place is filthy. It always stinks. They don't clean the changing rooms regularly, and showers always have hair on the floor. Most of the time, it's unattended and impossible to get help

Negative experience: Staff is friendly however once something breaks, it takes them months to repair it. They do not put any money into bettering the gym itself or equipment. The layout is very old and nothing makes sense. I have been to many 'The Gyms' and they all get improved every couple weeks, this is not up to The Gym standards. It took them months to repair one broken machine, its like they dont care at all!

Positive experience: Pretty well equipped but I found the background music too loud so had headphones on full volume. I was pretty peeved that there were no hairdryers in the men’s dressing room. I’ve got a very long bushy brewed & look like a vagrant without a blow dry.

Fantastic experience: Really good for the money, all the staff is kind and try always help. Diversity on the machines, good atmosphere and an amazing view and natural light. The changing room is always clean.

Fantastic experience: Great gym, plenty of weights and machines available. Showers available. Plenty of lockers.
Negative experience: The equipment stays broken for ages. Right now there are about a dozen broken gym machines. Also, around half the machines are missing the metal clips* which are needed to clip the handle attachments, so they can’t be used. The monthly fee goes up but the quality of equipment comes down. *Edit; they have now (December ‘23) replaced the clips with ones which cannot be removed. That’s a good start to improve things

Negative experience: Unfortunately, the club does not have fitness classes + the trainers are greedy and only care about person training . I spent about an hour looking for someone to tell me how to use the machines and give me some tips, but they don't. They are all tolk about personal training, not assistance. All of this on my first day. It was a very, very bad experience (I do not recommend subscribing to the club at all)

Fantastic experience: Good gym and brilliant team. Owen is a great instructor, could not recommend his classes enough. All the classes I've attended with various instructors have been amazing, including Tom, Tiger and Cameron.

Fantastic experience: I've been going to The Gym for just over a month now and it's been a great experience so far. The gym itself is clean and well-maintained, with a good amount of equipment to choose from and it's great value for money. I can quickly check how busy the gym is on the app before heading there, which is handy as I prefer avoiding the busiest times. Last week, I started training with Owen, and he's been an amazing PT so far. He took the time to get to know me and my fitness goals. His workouts are challenging but doable, and he always makes sure to correct my form and technique to prevent injury. He doesn't just give me a generic workout plan, instead, he tailors each session to my needs and abilities, adjusting accordingly. I heard great things about the classes too from friends who regular attend. Overall, I highly recommend this gym to anyone looking for a welcoming workout environment.

Positive experience: Amazing gym, great price, it gets busy after 5pm but the people and stuff are so friendly. Update: after a year from my 1st review, the gym went downhill, many broken machines, clogged toilets and it's filled with group of teenagers that chat for hours, hog the machines they are so loud. Thus the demotion to 3 stars.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely love my pt sessions with Owen Williams at the gym. Really knows what he is doing, makes the sessions fun and challenging! Seen results having had my sessions with him! Defiantly recommend to anyone who needs a pt!!

Positive experience: Been going to this gym since 2021 and I love it, such a nice gym community but we need a hip thrust machine and a back extension one :)
