Djanogly Community Leisure Centre

Negative experience: Urgh. So disappointed. Also disgusted. I joined the leisure centre last summer when I moved to the area, and liked it fine, and about six months ago, my membership expired. A few days ago, I dropped in and chatted to the amazing and friendly woman on reception - she was so warm and informative, that I signed up for a 12-month membership, right on the spot, and booked a spot in the weight room for the weekend. So today I went to the centre to do my workout, and after using the treadmill, I hopped off and looked around for the disinfectant spray and paper towels... but there were none to be found. What WAS present, however, were heavily sweating people all over the show: on the weight machines, using the free weights, on the machines, dripping on the floor, etc. I went downstairs to the reception desk and requested that they please give me some spray and paper towels, only to be told that they didn't have any. I asked how people were expected to clean the equipment after they use it, and was told, "Oh, well. Maybe we can put up a sign asking them to bring their own." Ummm. EXCUSE ME? You're going to (maybe) put up a sign, ASKING for people to bring their own spray and towels?SERIOUSLY? And if they don't? Am I supposed to (a) just put my hands all over a piece of machinery slippery with somebody else's sweat and snot and throat phlegm and god-knows-what-else? (b) use my own towel and then carry it around saturated with someone's bodily fluids? or (c) use my own towel to clean the machinery and then wipe my face with it? Saturated with some stranger's bum sweat? REALLY? Never in my life have I been to a gym where it wasn't standard protocol and basic expectation for people to clean their bum crack sweat off a weight machine seat and wipe a treadmill after sweating all over it. So, so disgusting. I'm bitterly disappointed in the complete lack of concern for hygiene - have we learned NOTHING from Covid and flu season every year?? - and am resentful of the fact that I'm now locked into a one-year membership at a fetid Petri dish of a fitness centre. I'm also very curious to hear why hygiene isn't a priority at Djanogly Leisure Centre - it was when I was there last time.

Positive experience: Me and my kids love this place we have membership for almost 1 year, however today one of the members stuff made me cry I believe her name is “Sam” I did spoke with the manager but my heart is still hurt and I have kept thinking of how she use her tone and attitude with me when I simply ask her to check and book for us swimming lessons cos In the app it didn’t work whenever I use to have problems with the app the staff being very nice and helpful,long story short is that I believe is not the first time she treat people like this and is not nice , I hope she learns how to treat everyone with respect and kindness

Fantastic experience: Been a member for a few weeks. First let me say how great, helpful the staff are, from initially asking for a look around to them signing me up, brilliant. This isn't a huge gym but it is local and whenever I have visited, nearly daily, it is not crowded, always going in the day time. Booking by the app is easy, although I haven't been able to get into any class, full when I take a look. There is free parking too. I got a discount due to working for a large employer in Notts, so a good price, as you can use the other Notts City leisure centres. All new equipment installed and additional equipment too, Nov 24 .

Fantastic experience: This is my local gym as part of Active Nottingham membership. They are all clean well equipped and have good equipment. Booking is easy through the Ap can't fault it.

Fantastic experience: Great value for money especially swimming lessons and studio and aqua fitness. Small health suit but I only stay in there for 10-20 mins. convenient location. Sometimes I do a fitness class after doing park run on forest recreation ground.

Positive experience: Normal council owned leisure centre. A bit of an ant problem but generally fairly clean on a morning and friendly staff. I swim here most days.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely lovely staff, they always hold on to my bearded theory cup when. I've forgotten it in the gym haha

Negative experience: Was seriously considering joining but thankfully decided to have a look at your handy virtual tour first. The gym looks small & poorly laid out. The free weights section is abysmal; no flat bench, they chose a smith machine over a squat rack & if more than 2 people want to use the free weights area you’ve got no chance. I would expect more from a gym charging £37 a month or £8 a visit.

Positive experience: We just have a point there we have nothing to do with the school

Fantastic experience: I have been using the center for the past 3 years now and i really love it! The staff is really friendly and helpful... They work really hard keeping the place well organized so we can enjoy! A big thanks to Jhon, Carol, Nick , Dean and everyone that makes part off this great team!!! The gym is really good and the relaxation area is great too! God bless you all and thanks for everything XXX

Positive experience: Too many children in the pool at the same time during lessons No space to stand. Not bad teachers but I think Denise is amazing. Thank you Denise for being a good lady

Fantastic experience: Overall a brilliant facility with friendly staff. BUT why is Swim for relaxation cancelled EVERY school holiday. A busy session cancelled for your regular customers for no good reason. Disappointing.

Fantastic experience: This is a Leisure Centre that costs £29 per month to join and use ,and is worth the money. The swimming pool, gym,sauna, showers etc are all inclusive. The staff are friendly and helpful.

Positive experience: I like to go there with my son on a Thursday when they do splash about. Its easy to book, reception help me out to sign up. The changing area is very clean and swimingpool too. Sometimes I feel its a bit cold.

Positive experience: Decent pool but poor showers and the staff aren't particularly friendly (with a few exceptions). Lanes not managed at all, so fast lanes often crippled by people who can barely swim a length.

Positive experience: Went to Aquafit. Love the music that Sam the instructor plays, makes the time more enjoyable. Think it's the best place to go, especially with the floor of the swimming pool that can go to different depths. Showers still can't be used because of the pandemic, I don't get it, we used to shower to get clean before going in the pool and then shower to wash the chlorine off. We're all going in the pool together so why can't we just walk through the open showers as we go to change?

Fantastic experience: Went to the leisure centre for a swimming session. The changing village is to a modern and clean standard with cubicles and lockers which take a refundable £1 coin. With Covid measures, some of the family changing space and hair dryers are currently out of use. Swimming pool itself is fairly modern and looks nice. Have natural light coming in from the large windows which is lovely on a sunny day. The floor of the swimming pool can be adjusted to different depths. Covid measures with swimming pool is 6 per a lane and they make sure it’s not overcrowded by making people prebook a session. I felt safe swimming.

Fantastic experience: Lovely, modern facilities. The pool is variable depth. The "activity room" for group exercise is not overly big (under current COVID-19 restrictions there are only 16 spaces per class) and is a funny shape but is very clean, modern and airy. Toilets were also clean and in a good state of repair.

Negative experience: Terrible sauna & steam rooms, very small & had to wait 22 minutes till the sauna was free as it was so busy! Showers were not that warm which was ruining the end experience of the health suite. Gym is small too as it gets overcrowded near 4pm

Negative experience: The pool was freezing. My 4 year old was shivering after only 20 minutes. At virgin active we were in the pool for 3 hours, 30 minutes here really isn't worth it for the price you pay. We also forgot slme of the inserts for my son's float jacket by the side of the pool, in the rush to get him warm. When we told reception about it, they said they would send someone to get it. It took them 30 minutes to do this, which was linger than the time we spent in the poil
