Negative experience: I imagine this pool could be a good experience if you’re neuro-typical. Unfortunately as a neurodiverse adult, I had a rather horrible experience, largely down to the staff clearly having no training or policy that equips them to deal with adults with hidden disabilities. I’m on the autistic spectrum and my particular experience of this is certain noise levels totally overwhelm me and cause me to break down. As an adult, I find this aspect of autism humiliating as well as very limiting in terms of experiences I can access. It is not a choice. What The Pulse do not advertise on their website is, according to their front of house, every swim session involves music pumped into the pool. When I arrived to swim, there was only one other person in the pool other than my mother and me. I quietly explained the difficulty with noise and autism to the lifeguard who made me feel like a selfish, badly behaved child. She said they could turn it off but made it clear what an inconvenience this would be and was also clear that she thought I was putting my own fussiness above the enjoyment of the ‘other people’. Later, I spoke to a different member of staff working on reception and politely asked if there were any sessions where music wasn’t pumped in. Again I was made to feel humiliated and as if I was a child. I was told they had all ‘accommodated’ me this time but it was made clear that I couldn’t expect this again. While I appreciate it is the right of The Pulse to have a policy of music in the pool, in the same way it is their prerogative to choose whether or not to have step free access, facilities for those with limited eyesight or any other inclusive measure, I am shocked at their patronising and ableist communication. It’s one thing to choose not to be inclusive in your policies, but to use shaming and discriminatory language to someone with neurodiversity who is being polite and just asking if the music could be altered when there are only 3 people in the pool feels massively outdated.

Positive experience: It was ok. Looks fun but to quote my wife ‘it was one of the most stressful events of my life, I thought children were going to die’. During our 45m session the sirens went off three times and the pool was cleared. There was a fair bit of panic in and out of the pool as it’s not clear what triggers the alarm but it was children in trouble each time apparently. I don’t believe there is some sort of net under the large inflatables footprint to stop children going under the inflatable and getting stuck. We had 29 children in the pool with about 4 guards and around 5 parents. Apparently the capacity maxes out at 50. That would be stressful!

Positive experience: Went here for my baby's first swim, Not enough family changing cubicles. The ones that are there are extremely tight. The majority of lockers are not operational. It's clear some investment is needed in this changing area. The swimming pool was great and my baby had a really great 1st swim

Positive experience: 25 metre pool with lane swimming. Parking is a bit cramped. A real bonus is not having to book in advance. When did that become a thing with loads of other pools? (I'm looking at you Gloucester and Ciren...)

Negative experience: Very poor service. Can’t go into the gym without an induction but don’t have any staff available for an induction. Ridiculous especially considering I’m a PT myself so know how to use the equipment. If you’re not letting people use the gym with no induction then you have to make sure you have staff ready to give an induction. If I could give less than one star I would, very unhelpful staff

Fantastic experience: Did a family swim here. Front desk were polite and efficient. Changing facilities were clean and there was plenty of family changing spaces. Pool was warm enough for the kid and they loved the floats being out.

Fantastic experience: Nice when it is "Just turn up and Swim"! Not so good when every group and their dog has the pool to theirselves! Their should always be public swimming as a lot of the building funds were collected by a nice Dursley Woman every Saturday standing just outside the public car park in every wind, rain and weather back the day! Paid for by the public: Capeesh?! Never forget it was the public that built the pool in the first place not some money grabbing private enterprise! Nice friendly staff though! No kidding! Anyone know who the kind and public spirited woman is? Is it you?! I know that she got a few bob from me and I am a Farmer! Rob of Halmore.

Positive experience: Love this place, the staff are absolutely wonderful. Sadly they haven't got a crèche for children so I can't go as much as I'd like to, and they also don't have a steam room or sauna but the gym is great and the children like the pool. The classes they run are fantastic but the waiting lists are long to get into a class, if you're lucky you'll still get into a class if others cancel on time.

Positive experience: Friendly staff, happily moved my booking to another day when I stupidly booked the wrong date. Kids had a blast on the inflatables. Book ahead for holiday activities, as they're v popular! Sadly I need to update my review for 2024... Barely any of the lockers work - you can't take the keys out?! As evidenced by the fact that most people are just leaving their stuff in them and leaving them unlocked. Raised this with a floppy-haired member of staff cleaning the floor, with headphones in so couldn't hear me properly, and cared less. "There's something wrong with your coin, there's nothing I can do" "It works fine EVERYWHERE else, and it works in some of the smaller lockers, just none of the big ones" "Well if it works in some of them, there's nothing I can do" Thanks bud. F u too.

Fantastic experience: My daughter is two and goes to little ducklings swimming lessons with Vicky. She is a great teacher, always keeps it fun and engaging. Teaching new skills and techniques for us parents to help our little ones to swim. Seeing the difference in my daughters water confidence from week one has been amazing. Highly recommend! Fantastic experience: Good pool. Swimming lessons for kids are great

Positive experience: Felt a bit crowded in the pool&changing room area especially with swimming lessons, lane swimming and general swimming going on at the same time. Didn't seem Covid safe which was a little bit disappointing. Maybe it's because I'm used to a bigger centre! Overall the centre is clean and tidy. Swimming pool was warm and clean. The staff are friendly and engage with both adults and children.

Positive experience: Went for public family swim on a Sunday so expect it to be busy but the pool had far to many in for its size! Not enough space for how many people had been let in very disappointing as pool would be lovely with half the number. 40 people would be plenty

Fantastic experience: The Pulse at Dursley is a lovely clean and friendly place to exercise in, most of the time the swimming pool is just the right temperature for swimming in and the pool side is kept very clean as is the chargingrooms. They have a wide variety of exercise classes, in the clean and spacious studio room, to suit all abilities and the instructors are friendly, kind and helpful.

Negative experience: Well... Smallest gym I've ever seen. Lack of free weights and what they got are falling a part leaving black dirt marks all over my hand. Treadmills are keep crashes during HIT cardio. I've planned to join but luckily I've only paid the pay as u go not the full membership. Price and quality balance is terrible. The staff is really kind but this place needs a serious investment in the equipments for thet kind of monthly fee.

Fantastic experience: For a small town pool and gym the staff here get a lot of things right. The facility is basically fine, opening times are reasonable, and classes are extensive (but book ahead). Could do with a bit more money going back in to maintenance of the gym equipment, and cleaning could be better, but membership is cheap and they offer everything. The staff are all particularly nice too, and that makes a difference.

Negative experience: Travelled 7 miles on 2nd of January to take 2 children and 1 baby swimming with inflatables (as advertised on the website). We arrived 30 mins early to ensure we could get in, only to be told it was fully booked. There was no metion of booking on the website. Very disappointing.

Saw people waiting to use machine which I’ve never seen before with the gyms I use in Cheltenham and Gloucester. Was told it’s still a newly built building however was confused to why it’s so small. Didn’t end up joining. I’ll stick to Cheltenham

Positive experience: Excellent health development and fun. Large swimming pool (0.6m to 1.8m) with swimming lessons, sessions and training every day, and public swimming in between. Gym and hall on site with new equipment and coaches to guide your progress. Average prices, very friendly staff, free parking, easily accessible. The kids swimming classes are engaging and fun. Every instructor seems to really enjoy teaching the kids at all stages and is really noticeable. Additionally, if your child has lessons, then they can benefit from free public swim sessions to develop their skills.
