Fantastic experience: Unbelievable set up

Negative experience: Don't bother trying to freeze your membership. I tried to freeze mine as I was going away for a month, so filled out the online form a couple of days before I went away as I was still using thd gym up until then. Received an email from them 2 days later saying they had frozen it from my next payment date which was in a month's time, by which time I would be home and wanting to use the gym again!! They can only freeze it from payment date to payment date and my payment date happened to be the day they emailed me back so they froze the following month instead which is of no use to me whatsoever!! I still have to pay for the month that I will be away which is a real pain when your a student with very little income! A total waste of time! Useless system.

Fantastic experience: This is a great gym and really reasonable monthly fee. Lots of equipment, clean surroundings and friendly and helpful staff. Can get really busy at peak times and mainly young gym goers but good for all ages. A good selection of classes, including spin, body pump, pilates and circuits. A great deal if you're on a tight budget.

Negative experience: The ladies area is often visited by men staff for check up. If you are religiously committed to have your privacy considered. This is not the place. Very disappointed ☹️

Fantastic experience: I love this gym! I love the staff, the equipment and the space itself. The staff have been and continue to be so supportive. I find them professional and friendly and you can turn to them if you need to. They are discreet with private matters and supportive. I've dealt with Emma, Claire, Kristian, Faye and Ricky mostly. There's always someone on the floor if you need help and the cleaner works hard that I've seen and is always busy cleaning. I want to say a MASSIVE thank you to all the team ❤️

Fantastic experience: Professional gym facility. Very clean inside and there is a lot of space for everyone and enough equipment for everybody. For this price it's very good.

Fantastic experience: I have tried lots of chain gyms and this gym is one of the best gyms I have been to. In my honest opinion, it is much better than other chain gyms in Essex, including PureGym or The Gym Group. This gym offers lots of machines, hammer strength equipment, plenty of benches, squat racks and cables. The gym doesn't get too busy in peak times like other gyms, as there's lots of equipment. My only suggestion to management is to add another leg extension machine, as there's only one. The men's toilets are pretty clean too and have lots of lockers. There's free parking on site and no need to enter your registration number into a tablet like most gyms require you to. Plenty of cardio equipment too, including bikes, treadmills, stair masters, cross trainers. Also, a few heavy bags and a calisthenics area. Overall, a very good gym.

Fantastic experience: Worth the money

Positive experience: I use this gym and have done for a couple of years, even when it was exercise 4 less. I like the size of the gym (it's an old warehouse so it has a lot of floor space). The staff are friendly and it's usually quite clean. Lots of equipment, large free weights area and a dedicated calisthenics section. Machines don't stay broken for long and turnaround on repairs is usually quick. The only downsides are the recurring leaks in the ceiling and occasionally the music is uncomfortably loud. Great value for money otherwise, recommended.

Positive experience: Great equipment but haven't been able to connect to the free wi-fi for months now and the building gets bad signal. Would be nice if they fixed that.

Fantastic experience: Walked in without an appointment with my wife to see around the gym and possibly sign up. Couple of members told us that we had to ring the buzzer for help. Waited a few minutes and one of the guys went and grabbed a friendly PT called Travis. Travis did a quick gym tour with us, explained the kit without being patronising and then left us to it. Fantastic range of machines from matrix, large class area and big spin studio. I love that you don't have to book into classes, works on a first come first served basis. My wife and I will be buying our memberships tonight- first gym I've been in that I'll be excited to train in. Travis was great, other members were friendly, cheap membership -> 10 out of 10!

Positive experience: This is a very big gym with a huge amounts of equipment. To do it justice, it’s best to check out the pics on the website. It does get busy at peak times, but there is generally something free to do what you want. All types of people go there, so you don’t feel conscious about yourself.

Fantastic experience: Love it here, very spacious, so much to choose from, everyone just gets on with it & all good vibes! Fully recommended it

Negative experience: Have been a member since before JD took over. The gym has a fairly ok layout, but same old equipment no attention to things like resolving drainage smells in the changing rooms. Since becoming JD Gyms you can no longer book classes, so often have to arrive more than 30 mins early for a class in hope of getting a space, and even then the gym allow people to come in dump their stuff to reserve spaces and go to do other things while other customers get turned away. A pretty poor experience and no amount of contacts to head office either directly of from the gym staff are getting answered. Come on JD provide a good service and provide support for your great local team who are trying their best.

Positive experience: Just gonna keep posting petty pictures of blocked fire exits until management stop giving copy and paste responses. The entry/exit barrier is utterly stupid. Considering how poorly it works,you'd think they'd reinstate reception. Standing like a lemon to enter is aggravating. And fire exits often blocked. Tired of telling staff of this, and management not addressing when contacted. Everything else is fine.

Positive experience: There used to be a boxing ring in the old gym and the old PTs years ago had a clue and taught new clients gym etiquette. Now they don't care and it's chaos. So sad. They turned into a quick turnover kind of gym instead of a proper gym.

Fantastic experience: I am fairly new to this gym. I have only been to Garons so that's my only comparison. The equipment is superb as are the facilities. The opening times are very convieniant. As of yet I've not interacted with staff as there's been no need but I do plan to have some PT sessions at some point. Time your visits carefully. Monday and Tuesday after work, it's packed, later evening is better.

Positive experience: This place plenty of space, weights, benchs and machines + Olympic weights, good lighting, mirrors, turf and vending options. One thing to remember; traffic can be a nuisance during rush hour.

Fantastic experience: How old do you have to be to go this gym

Positive experience: Have been at this gym since it was an Xercise4Less. I love all the equipment and the gym itself but it's far too crowded in there and can never actually get onto the machines that I want to use. Lots of people that either sit on a machine, looking at their phone or are in large groups. There also hasn't been that much of an upgrade to the equipment to justify the price increase. So unfortunately, will be looking for a different gym.

Positive experience: Good rolling contract gym, lots of equipment to choose from whether free weights, weight machines or cardio machines. Okay atmosphere, music and generally busy in there. Staff cleaning teams too.

Positive experience: Really glad to be back at the gym. New fixed mats in the ladies area definitely an improvement. Glad to see members are sanitising equipment after use. Cant wait for classes to begin.

Positive experience: They've increased the price but haven't justified it with enough improvement. Lots of the old equipment remains, some has already broken again as have the barriers which were constantly broke under the previous owners. There is some good new equipment, but the place feels alot more cramped now.

Negative experience: I've now cancelled due to being told bags are not allowed. I keep my possessions and gym accessories in my bag, now returning to my old gym

Fantastic experience: Refit looks amazing. New equipment and so much space.

Negative experience: Not impressed by a new coat of paint, and exercise areas most will never use. No tv's, instead, turn all the cardio around, so everyone on the exercise machines feels permanently watched. No music videos, pathetic sound system (as before), couldn't find a staff member now reception has gone, car park potholes irritating, not all cleaning stations have bins! But worst of all, not 24hrs, when others offer it (even the one next door). Maybe they have fixed the roof, we'll see next time it rains, and all this for almost double what I was paying before. Not good enough sorry!
