Stables Fitness & Leisure Club

Negative experience: Been a member since Jan 2024 and it’s been a poor customer experience. Consistent issues with The Stables bank arrangements collecting DD, never been able to establish contact with reception and the pool and equipment too busy to utilise often. I won’t be renewing for £59 p/m

Fantastic experience: Gorgeous to visit as part of my stay at the adjacent hotel. Day tickets are rather expensive though!

Negative experience: If you’re looking to join make sure you do a couple of trial runs in the evenings. I’ve been a member for over 3 years and since the recent renovation they seem to have offered memberships to every scruff in bury. From Bluetooth speakers in the sauna and pool to people shaving in the showers it’s like showering time at Forrest bank. It’s going in the same direction as this country in general. Downhill!

Fantastic experience: Had two massages off Tash, she’s so accommodating and the massages are incredibly relaxing in a warm relaxing setting too. Thank you and see you again!

Fantastic experience: Absolutely brilliant place with lots of options. Sauna steam cold plunge 2 pools hot tub jacuzzi and a gym. Incredible and relaxing.

Fantastic experience: Used Stables Country Club as part of a package while staying at the next door Best Western Hotel. Got a free day's pass to use the facilities. We only used the pool and the jacuzzi areas but all well maintained. A very nice club. The shower and changing areas are very well looked after. Unfortunately not allowed to take pictures in pool area so sorry on photos of those on my review. 2 pools to choose from. A warm smaller one and a larger cold one. They are not deep so swimming only. There are Jacuzzis, plunge pools, 2 saunas and a steam room. Well worth a visit.

Positive experience: Clean, friendly and spacious facilities. I used pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam rooms and was impressed by them all. Absolutely no issues - can't comment on pricing, as I had inclusive access through the neighbouring hotel.

Positive experience: My fiance cut her foot open and there was no real concern or assistance from the staff behind the counter. Otherwise it was fine with no other issues

Fantastic experience: My first actual time using the gym. I managed to join in with pilates, had a swim and used the jacuzzi, all while looking at the snow coming down over a wonder view through the window! The gym is brilliant.

Fantastic experience: Gym is not flash like some chain gyms but it's got a really good range of kit, weights, machines and cardio machines. The steam room and saunas are decent and it has a cold dunk pool, the proper way to do it. Staff are 10/10 really helpful.

Fantastic experience: Whent to by my wife membership as a surprise present. Staff extremely helpful going the extra mile to make it into a gift thing.

Fantastic experience: Love it. I have been to alot of Gyms and this has to be the cleanest gym I have to say. The changing rooms have onsight cleaner. It's has 2 great pools along with 2 saunas and a BIG steam room it's my happy place

Fantastic experience: I've been going swimming at the Stables for over 5 years its such a beautiful place always spotlessly clean , such a nice relaxed atmosphere, I suffer with chronic pain and going here helps me both mentally and physically. The Staff are all lovely and will go out of their way to help if you need it. The changing rooms are beautiful after being refurbished. Everything was done professionally during covid and it always felt safe .

Negative experience: Would be five stars not for some little ginger man strutting around like he owns the place. Grabbing all the equipment for himself even though he is supposed to be running one on one PT lessons. DO fitness? how about DO one, also I'm not sure wearing hot pants in the gym is very responsible, in fact its dangerous I nearly fell of the treadmill from laughter. I could of seriously hurt myself, this could of caused a catastrophic chain of injuries people looking around to see me fall and seeing the little sparrow legged 4ft angry man in his hot pants and themselves falling off machinery due to the hysterical sight of them little shorts on such a little man. Nice pool and sauna

Negative experience: We went with 5 children to the Christmas meal and were very disappointed. The food was cold and mediocre in taste with tiny portions, the entertainment (DJ) was pretty poor and Santa ran out of presents. All in all it was a huge drop in quality since the previous year and in future we will go elsewhere.

Positive experience: It is ok, but needs updating, especially the changing rooms. The gym is also out dated but usable. The pool area including sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi are the only reason it is 3 star rather than 2.

Negative experience: I booked the 20/20 spa day package on 25 February 2018 for myself and 4 friends as a birthday treat. The staff were polite and the treatments were lovely and relaxing. We had all booked for lunch at an additional £4.95 each. 3 of the ladies had been in the pools while the other 2 had treatments. We were seated in a public area (in costumes and a gown) which was really cold and draughty, made worse by the fact that we were sat in wet costumes. The lunch was sparse to say the least, sandwiches, a bowl of crips, a bunch of grapes and some chocolate bites and we did not even get a drink, not good value at all. We asked if we could have a drink and were given a glass of tap water each and offered a brew in salon if we wanted one. It really took the shine off the day. We were expecting to be spoilt. It would have been so much nicer if we could have had a nice glass of fizz (which we would have paid for obviously) in a nice warm room however the bar wasn't even staffed. The leisure facilities are nice and the changing areas lovely and clean. We had a problem with a coat going missing (moved?) But this was eventually sorted. I therefore wouldn't recommend Carriages as a relaxing experience and was quite disappointed overall.

Fantastic experience: It's a good club it has become a bit tired over the years but the company that own it are invested a great deal of money in it I believe £500,000 so that should help considerably over the next couple of years

Fantastic experience: It's a great gym, clean and a wide range of quality machines for resistance and cardio training. The spa and swimming pool is excellent, with decent temperatures in the Jacuzzis and sauna. The only negative for me is that children are only allowed in at certain times, which will be a positive for many.

Positive experience: this is very refreshing Hotel to stay, nice and traditional in a nature environment . very friendly and very warm staff. their food are fantastic. their leisure centre are most clean and nice place to swim and exercise

Positive experience: Not a huge fan of the style of seperate weight machines here. Tended to go against my natural movements, had to stick to free weights.
