Gymbox Farringdon

Negative experience: While GymBox Farringdon's facilities are well-maintained (could do with a few more cleaners), their customer service falls significantly short of expectations. The membership management must be outsourced to offshore administrators who seem disconnected from the gym's operations and members' needs [If its in-house, disgruntled employees]. My experience with cancellation has been particularly frustrating - despite initially receiving approval to end my membership early, because of reduced facilities, this was later reversed by another administrator without proper explanation. The lack of consistency and communication between their team members is concerning. Their disorganised approach to customer service and administrative matters makes for an unnecessarily complicated and unpleasant experience. I would strongly advise potential members to carefully consider these administrative challenges before committing to a membership when many other [nicer] gyms are nearby.

Fantastic experience: I only joined at first because I was following my PT (Seb) who had moved there. Was not looking forward to it, and even rolled my eyes at the whole concept. Nearly a year in, I absolutely love it. It's handy to be able to access other branches. Shout out to the staff, Ashley on front desk and others! Thanks to Amber Abbasi for helping me sign in and finding the best deal for me. I did think being underground wouldn't be ideal, but in Winter, when it's dark outside anyway the Farringdon Gym is my favourite place to spend the dark winter evenings.

Negative experience: On balance this is a gym for rich ravers, not for great workouts. Pros: - big with lots of equipment and lots of classes - people here are very fit if that motivates you Cons: - really expensive, but still super busy in peak hours - dark - obnoxiously loud music playing everywhere (yes, even the sauna). This makes BJJ instructions basically inaudible - really messy - weights are thrown everywhere, literally any other gym is better than here - various parts of the gym are randomly taken over by various groups (internal classes and external people) meaning you can’t use it and it’s unpredictable - staff are mostly clueless about everything

Negative experience: I regret my decision to join GYMBOX. If you’re considering membership, be warned: unless you want to deal with debt collectors chasing you for hundreds of pounds above the amount you have to pay initially after canceling, look elsewhere. I would advise nobody to join this gym. The staff has been uncommunicative and rude when I tried to raise my concerns. I submitted three complaints explaining why I needed to cancel—due to relocating and the gym being so overcrowded that I could never access equipment—but I was completely ignored. I made several attempts to call and email, only to encounter a frustrating “computer says no” mentality. It’s clear that once they have your money, they don’t care about your situation. While the facilities are nice, the lack of customer support when dealing with membership issues is incredibly disappointing. I expected better from a gym of this caliber. Save yourself the hassle and choose a different gym!

Fantastic experience: Ayo from cleaning is such good vibes, and he found my phone as well when I lost it. Awesome!

Negative experience: No working air conditioning for 3 months (over summer 2024). Weights everywhere. Just not taken care of otherwise could be great.

Fantastic experience: Please improve AC, it’s so hot especially in free weights area. Almost unbearable.

Negative experience: Finished up my membership last month and do not miss this place. Intolerably busy during both morning and evening rushes; free weight and related kit is a scattered mess and it's rare to see any staff aid in organising; many members have poor etiquette or bad manners and contribute to this by not putting away equipment or cleaning up; and tired of tripping over phone tripods which, frankly, should be banned. Two stars for size and cleanliness, but this gym experience just isn't matching up to the monthly cost anymore.

Negative experience: No Functional AC! Been like this for weeks but a great space

Positive experience: Looking at some of the negative reviews around the front desk support staff I thought I'd add my experience. When I had my phone snatched recently the Gymbox front desk staff were so helpful and went out of their way to ensure my gym visit and classes weren't disrupted at all. Generally my experience of the front desk staff is how great they are. It has never been my experience that your reception is nothing but helpful and friendly. Only 4 stars, because there's always room for improvement

Fantastic experience: One of the best Gymbox branches in London, with a huge functional area - it is always busy - but the equipment is excellent, and members are courteous to others, which is a real benefit.

Negative experience: Never a session where I don’t have to queue 15 minutes for a rack or bench. Not enough plates or dumbbells either. If you have a set routine and go to gym for lifting, stay well away.

Negative experience: Great location, well equipped and a fair membership fee. There are some brilliant classes (Firas and Beau are excellent instructors). Look beyond the gimmicky names of classes - some are pretty good. However the gym floor gets very crowded you'll have to fight for space - if you don't fit into the CrossFit aesthetic, you will stand out like a sore thumb. The Hyrox sessions are led by George who is an absolute knuckle-dragging Neanderthal who is is only interested in encouraging his own PT clients and flogging retreats in Spain. Got any problems or issues? Good luck getting them resolved - management doesn't care as long as they're getting your monthly membership fees.

Fantastic experience: Did a trial calisthenics class here with Classpass to check it out. The class was well structured and run, with an engaging trainer and friendly fellow participants. The equipment is good quality as are the changing facilities. I’d be happy to attend further classes or become a member in future.

Negative experience: 5 stars for the equipment, space and quality of the facilities. However I would give -3 stars for the cleanliness of the showers. Pubes/hair floating around in water because the water is clogged /flooded. Absolutely vile and I’m resisting my demons of making a call to some sanitation dept to check this out also pls ladies at the reception, won’t hurt to smile

Positive experience: The only reason i couldn't give this a 5 is just on price. Looking at 150 per month for the all in package. No pool but that's not a deal breaker at all for me at least. The equipment, classes, staff, facilities and everything else is top notch, the best of the best. Classes are very engaging and what ever your fitness journey is, you can find the answers here.

Fantastic experience: Please add hooks to hang toiletries/towels at all Gymbox gyms outside the sauna. Members have to leave all toiletries on the floor which can cause trip hazard etc. Thanks :) Amazing gym btw. Love love love the vibe and equipment etc.

Negative experience: I recently had a disappointing experience with this gym that I feel compelled to share. While the facilities themselves are excellent, the customer service is severely lacking. It seems their enthusiasm is limited to the membership sign-up process; beyond that, you're pretty much left to fend for yourself. My primary issue was with the reception staff at the Farringdon location. Their manner is outright rude – no greetings or acknowledgments. They appear extremely reluctant to assist, often behaving as if it's a huge inconvenience to them. A recent incident highlighted this attitude. I accidentally left my trainers at the gym, and when I inquired, the reception staff flatly denied having them, showing no willingness to help. It was only after speaking directly with the cleaning staff – who confirmed they had handed in my shoes – that I made any progress. Even then, I had to persistently ask the reception to check their lost and found. Their eventual compliance was marred by a terrible attitude, but it led to the recovery of my trainers. Such experiences make it clear that customer service is not a priority at this gym, which is particularly disappointing given the cost of the membership.

Fantastic experience: 500 stars for Gymbox Farringdon. Equipment is top notch and there is enough of it to go around even during busy hours. There is an essence around Gymbox that makes it stand out compared to other London based gyms - very supportive community and master trainers/ trainers who really practice what they preach. You can tell there is a lot of science + research put into each class with an emphasis on form and building athletes to uhh… be a better athlete in the long run..?? This is very refreshing as someone who is coming from Equinox where their class structure is based off some Kayla Itsines Booty blaster knock-off with no emphasis on technique and being a better athlete in the long run. Big thanks to Firas and Caroline who make Row Wod and Wod Squad a painful and rewarding experience. Gymbox is very lucky to have these two and so am I!

Positive experience: hard to fault to business but plenty of the punters weren't bothering returning their weights or cleaning the equipment after use. Didn't seem to be anyone on hand overseeing this.

Fantastic experience: This is for me the best gym in London when it comes to balance between good facilities, equipment and classes. I love especially their yoga, pilates, barre and all their "mind" classes. If you like meditation classes, Teresa Callan classes are something unmissable. I got some pt sessions with Allison and she is very knowledgeable, it made a difference in my body and the way I do train.

Fantastic experience: Really enjoy George Edwards’ Hyrox class each week. He pushes us to the max - it’s a rewarding class. As someone who has trained at Barry’s, Virgin (classes), CrossFit and Kobox, this is so far my favourite.

Fantastic experience: Great gym. Showers are clean and provided toiletries are great. Weights/dumbbells area gets pretty busy right after work, but wait times usually aren't too long anyways. The instructors are amazing -- shoutout Caroline for Bike & Beats!!! Music is always good and there's always locker space.

Negative experience: Great lighting and design. Have great equipments but it gets too busy and very often. There's enough space for more equipment but they simply don't care.

Positive experience: Really great gym. Had some issues with the sales guy when I signed up as he seemed to be just trying to get the sale and showed no real care. I was going to join the gym in any case. But there was no real friendly touch. I didn't feel too welcome. I had to kind of make myself comfortable in the gym. He also gave me misinformation which the membership team disputed which meant what was agreed by us wasn't actually true. Always had issues with the membership system at gymbox. But the membership lady was really nice. Also note classes get full really fast. But the gym is huge and rarely need to wait for equipment. Other gym users generally are quite nice.

Negative experience: I had some problems when cancelling my subscription, so even they do not say it when joining the gym, please make sure you check the cancellation policy before joining. I had to pay two month after my cancellation and they did not offer my any solution! To be fair, I feel defrauded, how they treat the customer in this is what differentiates from competitors and makes a good gym, and of course, in my case they are not.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely love it! The spinning classes are just great, I am a huge fan of the LED lights and your always working bikes! The weight lifting area is pretty good too, plenty of space and equipments, not so busy, only certain times. Lockers are always free, you don't need to struggle to find an empty one, cleanliness is spot on.VPTs are not doing my head in by trying to force a session on me or hit on me. Honestly, I love it Only one tiny little con: the water fountain in the female changing room has now been struggling to recover, it's been a few weeks :)

Positive experience: Great gym. Lots of equipment, lots of classes and the people are extremely friendly. Only wish the weights / dumbbell area was slightly bigger as it gets super busy there after work. But it's a great, great gym. Highly recommend checking it out.

Positive experience: It’s nice for the dance studio and in general nice facilities and the cleaning staff is super nice however you are not allowed to film yourself with any camera apart from your phone and the opening hours are a bit short

Fantastic experience: I have been at GYMBOX Farringdon for well over a year now and absolutely enjoy every moment of it. This particular gym has such a huge space, and I have never had any issues with it being too busy for me to carry out a workout session (I go in the mornings so can’t comment about the evenings). They over a wide variety of different classes to floats everyone’s boat too. Gymbox has all the equipment you would need to carry out all types of workouts from cardio to boxing to CrossFit to strength, to hiit, to yoga and much more! They even have my dreaded Jacobs ladder! I have never had an issues with cleanliness and the Staff are also friendly.

Positive experience: Huge gym the best gymbox there is. Loads of equipment even when it's busy, you can still get stuff done. I still think for the price of £114 a little overpriced. Machines don't seem to be maintained, and I have never seen staff clean up the weight area it's often.

Positive experience: Overall, I must say the customer service was really good. The staff were friendly and accommodating to all of my needs throughout my visit. They made sure that I had everything that I needed and answered any questions that I had in a timely manner. The only concern that I have with the customer service is regarding their Muay Thai classes. There was no quick introduction or communication between myself and one of the female coaches who taught me during this class which left me feeling like there wasn't much bonding between us as teacher/student relationship should be established for an effective learning experience . This lack of interaction can lead to misunderstandings when trying to learn something new so it would be better if they could introduce themselves properly before each session starts so everyone feels more comfortable with their instructor. In conclusion, overall customer service at this facility is great but there are some areas where improvements can still be made such as introducing instructors properly prior to classes starting in order for students to feel more connected with them while learning something new . With these small changes ,I believe customers will get even better quality services from this establishment which would make them come back again in future.

Fantastic experience: This is one of the best gyms in London, it can get busy with all everyone olympic lifting and doing WODs but even still I would go out my way to train here if I could. It's built mainly for specific sports training (oly lifts, crossfit etc) but you have all the gym equipment you need.

Fantastic experience: I had lost my shorts on the way somehow and I was sparring at 12:15. I turned up and asked to buy some short ls but they don't sell them, Ramon offered for me to be able to use his shorts and told me to even keep them, he had sustained an injury and was on a crutch and came all the way downstairs to assist me. Extremely lucky and also grateful for this customer service. The founder of Gymbox is a friend of mine and I'm overly impressed with how I was assisted. Excellent service

Fantastic experience: Great gym, blows my mind each visit. Such a big site requires great management. And Michael, Mark, Lois & Liv smash it!

Positive experience: If you are healthy and sober, as everyone else in the gym, please remember to bring your own noise cancelling headphones or earplugs. The music is super loud and there are speakers everywhere over your head, makes my ears hurt and feeling sick after half an hour being boomed by the noise. It’s not a night club after all, we value health more than others, that’s why we go to the gym, hearing health is a part of general health, thank you.

Fantastic experience: Visited on a guest pass - signed up the week after. This gym is epic; the equipment is plentiful, a great place for weightlifting. The staff seemed friendly and welcoming (in particular Richard Rorak who helped me sign up). Very excited for my first month :)

Fantastic experience: Ok so when I say I HATED spin for ages, Jade Avia’s class changed my whole perspective and made me LOVE it The playlist was 10/10, the vibe was immaculate, her energy - I swear we need more people like her. Even though I was dying in her class I was still smiling because she proper uplifts you and kept encouraging everyone to really challenge themselves in a way that was super motivating. Love love loved it

Fantastic experience: What a breath of fresh air the staff here are. After scouting some of the gyms in the local area, and having some absolutely atrocious staff with little to no knowledge of any information within their companies, I walked into Gymbox and was greeted with the biggest of smiles and the warmest of welcomes. Rhiannon was the woman that served me and gave me all the info on prices, classes, tips on when to come - why can’t all other receptionists be as helpful. Thank you for some great service. I will be back.

Fantastic experience: Couldn’t have asked for more at Gymbox - the receptionist Harvey at the front desk was incredibly kind to an older lady who seemed to get confused about class bookings. He was patient, kind and took the time to explain the gym’s policies without being condescending. I’ve recommended the gym to my Mother who often struggles with ‘new technology’ as a result of Harvey’s compassion.

Positive experience: Nice facilities and wide range of machines. I found the classes schedule a little limited and the rooms are too cold for yoga. You end up leaving more tense than when you arrived. Overall good gym for machines, not so great for classes.

Positive experience: It is ok gym! Lots of space doesn't feel like a traditional gym, which makes it different and cool, on the other hand it makes it difficult to take advantage of the whole thing and space. Also in winter since it is very spacy it is cold. Classes are great but always booked rooms are like every other gym almost. A plus: towels and sauna included and top rate allows you use all of the other gymbox in the city. I think is a good gym but it goes on the overated side and can be a little expensive 125£ p/m I don't really think it is much worth it for towels and sauna.

Fantastic experience: Very good gym. Pretty much two of every machines. Very really had to queue. Very good supportive staff too. Plenty of space. Really big Gymbox. Also really amazing classes. Could get really busy 6-7pm peak time but 2-5pm is basically dead quiet. Manage your time well

Fantastic experience: Amazing gym,i have the chance to train only once per week here thankfully to a friend ,the place is huge and it has everything you need inside,could be crowded around 17/18 but overall it happens that you don't have to wait longer.

Negative experience: Let me start of with: amazing gym, classes, equipment and trainers. Management and customer service: highly inflexible, unresponsive and overall bad experience. I visited London for 1.5 month, had to pay 140 pounds for membership, joining fee (for one month??) as well as credit card fee of 5 pounds. I wanted CrossFit, olympic lifting and boxing. Apparently weightlifting is an extra 10 pounds per class, which I was told was included in the membership. The solution they offered me for the remaining 0.5 month (10 days, even less), was a full months membership or a day pass of 20 pounds (where I can’t even go to classes for). For my wife, who visited two weeks, they didn’t show any flexibility at all, not even waiving the joining fee when she was about to do a whole months membership just for two weeks. Ow and after she already joined a different gym, they spammed her email saying they would waive it. What a joke. I’ll come back to this place when they change management or show a bit more flexibility for visitors. I’ll also recommend my company’s UK office not to join, I’m sure there are other places that are more flexible. Highly disappointed, because it’s definitely one of the better facilities I’ve seen in my life

Fantastic experience: Cool gym with excellent equipment, classes and music! The gym has a range of lovely classes and and everything I could ask for. Boxing ring with various experienced trainers and an amazing water row machine. Great place.

Positive experience: Top equipment! Friendly, helpful staff. Cleanest GYMBOX is Victoria studio, best one for space is Farringdon and the worst GYMBOX is Victoria main gym as the place needs a decent clean.

Negative experience: Edit: Unfortunately, there's a bad smell of cigarette smoke all over the one half of the gym and the management is not all ready to even acknowledge it. Surprisingly, a nice gym spacious gym space with all of them located on single floor and enough machines which is unusual of other Gymbox centres.

Fantastic experience: Best gymbox by far!! The most amount of equipment and machines. Literally massive!! Changing room facilities are clean and cleaners are actively on the gym floor. Wasn't too busy when we arrived around 1400. Gym staff seem okay but didn't really engage with them. Steam Room also available.

Fantastic experience: Awesome staff, equipment and space is unrivalled and the vibe in this place shouts beastmode!!! Massive thanks to farringdon staff for making the intro in this gym real welcoming. If you want to level up and be your best athletic self, Gymbox it's definitely for you. Cleaners are working around the clock on the gym floor and cleaning showers to keep the place spotless. Staff always walk around putting things back in place. And for those worried about busy times, your're already on Google so worth checking out the "busy times" section. It's pretty accurate. Would be awesome if guest passes could be a monthly thing rather than one off so friends could get hooked on the place. Makes every other boring gym seem like a living room with some treadmills in it. Massive disservice to just call this place a gym. It's a whole lot more than that.

Negative experience: Booking classes is like booking glastonbury tickets every morning. Towels are crusty and grim. Changing rooms not always that clean. Great instructors, mostly nice vibe, brilliant equipment Cancelling contract and membership team = totally inconsiderate after 6 yrs of being a member. Over a miscommunication on freezing my membership (not all mine) I was 1 day late they delayed my cancellation. Then you cannot cancel on a 'frozen' membership so have to pay full whack (up to £105) for a service you aren't going to use just in order to cancel (remember after 6yrs of being a paying customer). Totally inflexible and greedy. Due to the proximity to work, I was going to come back post covid but I don't want to give this management any more of my money.

Fantastic experience: Very nice gym with a lot of variety of equipment, huge and loads of space and different sections for types of training for calisthenics, functional, Olympic, aerobics and cardio, martial arts and strength-area. Also the reception team are extremely friendly too.

Positive experience: Very reasonably priced and well-stocked. The equipment and instructors are of a high calibre. Can always get booked onto classes or the waiting list. One star removed as some equipment, particularly dumbbells and the massage guns are not always put back where they belong so you can waste time searching. It would be good if they had someone on the floor to ensure equipment was put back properly as it’s a big gym and finding it isn’t always easy. It also risks injury if a heavy lifter fails to remove his or her plates from the machines (this is a regular occurrence).

Fantastic experience: Disneyland for fitness enthusiasts. They have a section for every passion of fitness. I really enjoyed the theraguns at hand to mobilize before the workout. It has a very club vibe and everyone is into working out, it might be a little intimidating for beginners, but I love it.

Fantastic experience: I went to a class yesterday and absolutely loved it. Then went around trying new machines, staff were so amazing and helpful! Didn’t want to leave!! Then spent a sold half hour in the sauna. Omg just beautiful! Loved that the tunes were going the whole time especially in the shower. loved my first day there. Have planned to be back all next week too. Such an amazing place. My new favourite thing now is looking at the classes coming up and booking them ! you could definitely spend all day here. Little bit of heaven - weird to say for a gym but 100% true

Fantastic experience: Registered on the app. Booked my time slot. Temperature checked on the way in. People generally trying to keep their distance. I noticed most people cleaning down equipment after use too. Sanitaiser stations around the gym. All in all not a bad experience to be fair.

Though my impressions were very positive: the gym is welcoming and it really is brilliant in terms of facilities, functional training and classes. Abigail from sales also called up to check that my visit went well and was very nice and kind. Great team!

Negative experience: Unable to get through to anyone via phone, emails or social media. It is 17th of July and I have been trying to cancel my membership for the last week due to uncertainty on my employment due to Covid. The only option I am being given on the website is to cancel from the 31st of AUGUST (which is over a month and a half away), meaning I am being forced to pay over £130 for a gym I will not be using.

Fantastic experience: GymBox Farringdon is massive, got every machine you could dream of, I wanna do another Bike and Beats with Jade because it was sick, music was on point & she’s genuinely a propa good instructor you know ! But I defo need to work on my cardio because my stamina was slackingggggg!!! Lol it’s like a club ! Music popping, bare mirrors, it’s a vibe still.

Fantastic experience: The Gymbox is an all encompassing gym! No matter what your fitness level is or what your goals are the Gymbox offers you the space and classes you need to reach your potential. The space is always clean and the staff is always welcoming and helpful. I especially recommend Jade's Spin Class! She knows how to challenge you while motivating you along the way! Very happy to have found the Gymbox!

Fantastic experience: Recently joined and I am already addicted! Great vibe, live DJs, loads of fun and unique classes, trainers look after you and motivate you. Enormous gym with everything u need, love the boxing area. Clean and spacious changing room and sauna. I was a bit doubtful at first (Busy work schedule) but awsome Maria took care of me and signed me up in a blink, and I wouldn't take it back!

Fantastic experience: Very cool gym! It’s pretty militant in there, not for the faint hearted. It has a bunch of great classes and instructors. (I’d suggest trying as many as you can to see what your into) Leah works there too and she’s the best ;)
