Fantastic experience: Great course and the most helpful staff u could meet top draw golf club

Fantastic experience: Held my Dad's 90th birthday lunch here on Sunday. The events manager, Shirley, was absolutely excellent in every way, the staff were friendly, professional and efficient, and the roast beef main course and Eton mess dessert were delicious. Everybody commented on how good the whole event was. I recommend this venue unreservedly.

Fantastic experience: This is the perfect place for me and my friend to meet as its half way for both of us. We tend to just have hot drinks whilst there and the people serving are always very helpful and accomadating. In the summer we do like sitting outside too it's a very lovely, calm place place to have a catch-up with an old friend.

Negative experience: Nice facilities and good classes…IF you can get booked in. Have to book as soon as classes become available for booking (7am a week in advance) otherwise have very little chance of getting in. Classes are cramped with not enough room and too many people 90% of the time. Clearly have got greedy and taken on too many members (and still taking on more) with not enough classes to satisfy demand. They also offer several classes online which are live streamed but often can’t hear the instructions and have to call to be let into the class otherwise just sit in a zoom waiting room.

Fantastic experience: Just went for a swim and steam, with a friend who lives locally, and has just joined as a member. Pool and steam room were great, and the other facilities I saw (but didnt actually use) looked excellent. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Negative experience: I’ve only signed up today and they banned me said I was arguing in the pool and smuggling people in when I was never in club in my life and very disrespectful clients and won’t let u speak keeps interrupting

Negative experience: The last 3 time's when I've eaten in the clubhouse I've had a bad upset stomach. I feel there Health and Hygiene needs revamping in the kitchen. Also for all staff behind the bar who go in and out of the kitchen (have they all got an updated Hygiene Certificate)!? The bar staff also handle the plates when serving to the tables! Mmm, maybe a *Council Health and Hygiene* spot inspection is needed on these premises! They must be losing out on a lot of food and bar revenue now, what with completely cutting out the Sunday roasts! There choice of menue is small, needs changing more regularly. It's all become a bit boring of late with 'same old', 'same old' food, no variation added!

Negative experience: Wow, what has happened to Slinfold Country Club in recent months? Don’t be fooled by the words Country Club, retreat or exclusively. Every afternoon and evening the place is now filled with builders vans in the car park (in the family& disabled bays) and 30-40 rude, overweight blokes stuffed into the gym and sauna with no regard for anybody else. Ignoring lanes in the pool, mucking around with gym equipment, spitting in the jacuzzi and damaging the steam room. The sort of people Slinfold have now let into the club and allowed to take over every evening, is quite frankly, disgusting. Dive bombing into the pool, swearing profusely around the club yelling profanities at each other in the car park and so much worse. It’s an utter disgrace. Recently I witnessed a group of seven teenage boys leaving the club with their towels in Tesco bags discussing the kid they were all going to beat up at school the next day. Last week I endured 3 men discussing who had managed to drive on the most alcohol with one laughing about how he couldn’t even see when he left the pub so he doesn’t even know how he got home! What used to be a lovely relaxing club has now become a cross between a filthy pub and a football ground. Whilst many of the staff agree following numerous conversations and request for them to step into situations; one that came close to a brawl in the car park, they are simply too scared to intervene. The Membership Team and Luke Blacker should be embarrassed by the state they’ve let this club get into. Like many other members who have raised this with me, membership numbers will start falling off a cliff unless this is addressed now. It’s interesting that they’ve removed comment cards/boxes from around the club… I wonder why! Save your money and join a David Lloyd/Pure Gym/Virgin Active where they set behaviour standards and care about ALL MEMBERS. 13 years at this Country Club and in 3 months it’s become the Burberry of the Gym World.

Positive experience: Good place to go, didn't have a sauna annoyingly but the steam room is lovely and the hot tub is great and pool is good for some lengths. Gym is very up to date with latest machines. Although expensive for what you get

Fantastic experience: Used the driving range and they now have trackman, I'm sure it will make all the difference..

Positive experience: I loved being a member but the huge monthly cost became hard to justify when the overall standards were dropping. The changing rooms were grubby, frequently broken gym equipment took weeks to repair and the overall behaviour of newer members left a lot to be desired. The staff are lovely and it was a difficult decision to leave after 12 years but it simply is no longer value for money in this hugely competitive market.

Negative experience: Did not experience the spa, gym or pool however the restaurant/bar and terrace was lovely. We had the calamari and it was brilliant along with a few beers. Bar staff and front of house staff were very welcoming, polite and friendly. Onto the golf course, not up to standard at all. Tee boxes was like playing in the rough, fairways not great and greens clearly hadn’t been cut in a week. Extremely slow, patchy and even signs of weeds on a couple. Layout of course is great, it is challenging and a test but very let down by condition. Could easily 5* if it was maintained properly. Also practice green was nothing like actual greens was even worse somehow. Just need to reiterate how good food was though.

Negative experience: I went to the range with my partner who was teaching me how to swing a club and we were asked not to do so by the pro. This was done in a very unprofessional manner and very embarrassing that my partner cannot help me improve my golf. So ladies you cannot go to the range with your partner to help you when it is pouring down with rain.

Positive experience: It just needs some money spent on the bar and changing rooms. The carpet leading up to the bar is so stained and it just feels like a campsite drinking spot. All they need to do is exchange the flooring for wood. Update the bar add some nice lighting and it would be so much better. The women's changing room keeps smelling like wee due to the material benches. If these were removed it would make such a big differnce! I will say the new staff are lovely and so kind.

Negative experience: After being Highly Recommended this country club by a good friend of mine ,he said that if I went there they would give me a day pass for ten pounds to explore it further . So we went over and met a very rude duty manager who had Told us the opposite that we had to accept a membership first . Glad full stop !!!! That we didn’t join hope the rest of the staff have been trained in a different manner !!! For this business sake go forward.

Positive experience: With the exception of two temporary tees when we played, it was a great golf course. Some real tricky holes. We had a society day here with bacon rolls and coffee in the morning and Pie, mash and peas for lunch. The food was very good. Nice terraced area too.

Positive experience: Went to join yesterday as I was a member before lockdown,facilities are very good but I think prices have increased alot,maybe I am wrong but I was paying nowhere near that pre lockdown, it has priced me out as I only used to use the pool.i will look elsewhere

Positive experience: A nice welcome, good value, very good half way house with excellent choice of food. Course was nice, with a few holes that a little local knowledge would help and not in bad order. Greens will get better for sure but nice and receptive. Will come back soon.

Fantastic experience: I have been a member for over a couple of years, it was a great place to be before covid, still good but has restrictions in place, for instance only 1 person allowed in the jacuzzi and steam room permanently shut, the gym is open and again covid means less members allowed to use facilities.

Negative experience: In short: Staff - get your act together Facilities - fairly well kept other than buggies Course - wonderful In long: I almost don't want to waste my time writing this. As you can see in the first photo, my friend and I played a really enjoyable round on the 5th April which truly was a fantastic round to kick off the year. The second photo shows what I looked like on the day we played (pre-lockdown haircut). The receptionist didn't pick up on our attire and sent us off to enjoy the experience with a buggy too. Our second visit on the 17th April took a whole different turn. We parked then walked into the reception and approached the receptionist to check in, collect our score cards, buy a buggy and buy some balls. At this point the receptionist (a different person to the previous visit) raised concerns about how we were dressed; it was nothing outlandish just grey shorts and a green t-shirt in my case however it didn't meet the dress code. Whilst having raised concerns the receptionist proceeded to fulfil my request, accepted my payment and allowed us to leave the building to begin our round. After having collected the buggy, changing our shoes and loading our bags etc onto the buggy I decided we're a little rusty so a dozen balls between the two of us may be cutting it fine :D so, mask back on and in I went to buy another box. NOW this is where Slinfold lost all of my respect. I was about to walk through the door to the reception when I noticed someone standing on the other side of it. I'm quite old-fashioned and opened the door to ask if they were leaving and beckoned them through but they weren't going anywhere as they said "no, I work here". They turned to the receptionist and asked pointing at me "is this the one?" - an innocent enough question in my opinion. Well, here we go, "Sir, you can't play here dressed like that. We have a dress code which is displayed on our website when you make the booking". At this point I know where this is going. It may be worth mentioning that the booking was made under my friends name as they made the booking, I just payed. So I hadn't seen this notice, to my knowledge it was absolutely fine a week ago but now after we'd been allowed to pay, buy balls, hire a buggy, receive the key, collect our things and load said buggy for the round we were told actually no you can't play here. I had offered to buy clothing from Slinfold; from the manager even after being confronted in such a peculiar manner. They said they haven't got anything in stock but could offer me a full refund. I left the building at this point to consult my friend and let him know that they want us to return the buggy and leave. My friend was not happy. They went inside with the kind of rage you'd expect to see on the other side of a red cape in a bull fighting ring. We were disgusted that these employees had built us up, allowed us to almost smell the fresh grass on the first tee only now to take it away again. Shortly after a verbal exchange with the ever-more incompetent manager my friend slammed their hand against the reception door and stormed out, understandably too I think. I remained calm as I had invested a not insignificant amount of money into this awful experience and wanted it back. I'm not sure I want to go there again, not because of the course and not because of the dress code but because of the staff. We should have dressed as they had requested online. When we showed up the first time they should have turned us away avoiding this incident altogether. The second receptionist should also have turned us away in the first instance but didn't. The manager should have had a better handle on things and let us play given how far things had gone - it was a terrible decision to turn us away at this point. They should then have re-affirmed the club's standards with their staff to avoid it happening again.

Positive experience: Great course and well maintained. Greens are running fast and can be a bit hard to read. Flat but still a good challenge. Half way house is a welcome recent addition.

Positive experience: For those looking for the Country Club lifestyle, Slinfold has it all; swimming pool, gym, driving range, pitch and putt course, and a decent 18 hole course to boot! With an interesting parkland layout and some quirky features (island tee on the 10th!), the course is a fun one to play. At just over 6000 yards for a par 72 from the yellows, the course is definitely on the shorter side of things, but is protected by sharp doglegs with enforced layups, mature trees and well placed bunkers, ensuring that pulling driver on every hole isn't the only way to play the course. With only one par 4 over 400 yards, and the majority of the par 3's not requiring anything more than a short iron, the course is definitely one in which you can hit a lot of greens, and hopefully post a decent score, as long as you keep the ball in play! My favourite holes on the course are the dogleg par 4 3rd, the short par 3 7th, and the closing dogleg par 5 18th back towards the clubhouse. Whilst there are courses I prefer in the area, Slinfold still offers a fun, good value round of golf, and is able to offer a whole raft of other benefits to members seeking the country club lifestyle.
