Fantastic experience: I was very pleased with my welcome meeting today led by Ryan. I was apprehensive about going into a fitness environment but Ryan was excellent and made me feel very welcome at the club. He explained the memberships to me in great detail, so purchasing my membership today was a no brainer. Jodie and Andrea were also very helpful and welcoming. Overall it was a lovely experience:)

Fantastic experience: Great club tho they could do with another smith machine and a machine for seated side lateral raises. Maybe a few more dumbbells ranging from the 16s to 30s as some of them only have one set( like the 18s only have one set. It's frustrating if some body is doing multiple different exercises ( like using the squat rack for shoulder press then in-between sets does lateral raises) it can mean those dumb old are our if action for half hour , instead of 10 mins if they were just doing lateral raises instead of treating it like they are doing a circuit. This would be be an issue if there were mor sets of them. Other than that it's a great club

Fantastic experience: What a great club. Very friendly, down to earth and ectremely welcoming, special mentions to all the staf, In the instructor led classes - Penny, Emilia, Shaq, and James. The tennis is run by Steve Tooley who is one of the nicest calmest guys you could have - perfect as a top tennis coach, Nick Ettienne is also one of the country's best junior speicialist tennis coaches, a wizard with a tennis racket instead of a wand and very hard working. The restaurant staff, work incredibly hard (Carmen, Vicky and the gang!) and are very calm under pressure. The back room staff (including the 'no-messing' Mark who has now disappeared to the office are always busy making things better behind the scenes and then there is the very hard working Rose, Abby and Lucy who run front of house with the rest of the team, and who always have a wonderful smile and cheery disposition for all the members, as well as a warm towel. Add in the constant hard working manager Gerard overseeing things, and you have an extremely well-run team and club who all do their utmost best to make it the great place it is. Highly recommened especially at the very reasonable cost it is. Lets not forget the cleaning team who are under immense pressure to keep a very busy club as clean as they can whilst still smiling

Positive experience: The car park is a nightmare for parents with small kids, though they have 2 lanes of family parking, the lots are always full of vans or high end cars with no kids seat in sight. The actual club is ok-ish, clean and tidy but could definitely do with a make-over and upgrade of facilities for modernisation.

Negative experience: I've been a member at David Lloyd for just over a year, though I was at this location from 2014 to 2019, so I’ve seen its evolution, especially since the private equity acquisition. While some areas have improved, the general decline in upkeep is disappointing, particularly given the high membership cost. Facilities & Cleanliness One of my biggest concerns is the cleanliness of the facilities, especially in the men’s changing and shower areas. Since rejoining, I’ve seen blood, shaven hair, used razors, and even used plasters left in the showers—issues that should be far better managed in a premium fitness club. Many men now avoid using the toilets near the pool, opting instead for those at the entrance of the changing room to steer clear of the poor conditions. Hygiene rules, such as wearing shoes poolside, are also frequently ignored by both staff and members, leading to dirty, wet surfaces around the pool. Other leisure centers, such as the David Ross Sports Centre at the University of Nottingham, manage to maintain much cleaner facilities at a fraction of the price, which makes David Lloyd’s decline in this area especially disappointing. Steam Room & Sauna Issues The steam room’s reliability is another ongoing issue. Over the past year, it’s been out of order about 35% of the times I’ve visited, and management often blames “member misuse” without finding a real solution. Why does this David Lloyd location seem to face such a unique problem in maintaining the steam room when countless other leisure centers manage theirs effectively? I'd like to know if the West Bridgford location faces this issue at such a high rate and if not, why? To make matters worse, the app doesn’t inform members in advance when facilities are broken, so we only find out after arriving. Additionally, the outdoor Jacuzzi has consistently been colder than the indoor one, with no resolution over the past year. The sauna, while enjoyable, is too small to accommodate members comfortably during peak hours, and people often end up standing or not being able to get in. Gym & Lounge The gym itself is well-equipped and offers a wide range of machines and free weights. However, the absence of a resident personal trainer or fitness attendant is noticeable. Previously, a trainer was available for quick advice and to reinforce basic etiquette like re-racking weights. Without this support, weights are often left scattered, detracting from the gym experience. For a premium gym that costs over £80 a month, I’d expect better service, especially when budget gyms like Pure Gym still offer this support. On a positive note, the lounge is a comfortable space for working or studying, with reliable WiFi throughout the facility. The staff are generally professional and friendly, though some of these overlooked details would significantly improve the member experience. Final Thoughts David Lloyd charges a premium, but the experience falls short in several key areas. While the gym and lounge are solid, the lack of attention to cleanliness, unreliable amenities, and absence of general support don’t match the price point. It’s disappointing to see that, in many respects, David Lloyd isn’t keeping pace with other gyms that charge significantly less.

Fantastic experience: I wish to mention that whenever I see Rose Gethings on reception at David Lloyd, Aspley, she always greets me with a welcoming smile which I've noticed she does with other members. As front of house I feel this is very important and it sets up my days experience at the club. Nothing is too much trouble for her and if she doesn't know the answer to any questions I have she's always points me in the right direction.

Negative experience: Terrible club, no working AC in the studios where high impact classes run. Despite numerous times raising this as a concern, nothing has been done. In fact the opposite with units being removed from the room. Really poor experience and not what I'd expect from a DL club.

Negative experience: premium prices with sub-standard service. machines always breaking down and not being fixed in a reasonable time, e.g., 3 out of 4 rowing machines were broken for over 2 months.. no water cooler in men's changing room although promised by management... steam room with no stream.. dryer not working... the list goes on.. only the changing rooms were revamped.. club and equipment looks dated..

Negative experience: Absolutely joke so quick to ask to write a review but when it come to dealing with my issue no one is to been seen. It’s been longer than 24 hours and my app still not working and still haven’t heard back from any team member about my issue. I’ve been calling and they say they call back but no calls to be received. I’ve spoke to numerous of staff on reception sounds like nobody knows what they are doing spoke to rich yesterday and no call back at all it’s disappointing.

Fantastic experience: Rose and the team are very helpful and cheerful in the mornings - which is always a great way to start the day. The gym itself is very nice and even more so since the facilities have had a recent refurb. I would recommend this gym based on the amount of equipment available, good facilities, lovely friendly staff.

Positive experience: It is not premium despite what they charge. The wifi is temperamental and doesn’t cover all areas!!! wtf?! The PTs are inexperienced and unknowable in advanced fitness skills that require deeper understanding of physiology. The gym does not have reformer Pilates machines, no assisted stretching machines, no ski machines, no box fit zone etc. things all premium gyms tend to have! Decor is still dated despite minor refit, not like premium gyms (no instagram trending lighting, digital screens, neon signage, mirrors etc.) - crap for social media fitness influencers, not til tok friendly either. The food menu is not based around Keto/ low carb centred choices either to help fast track achieving fitness goals. Food prices are too expensive for those who attend 4+ times per week making it unaffordable to eat there everyday. The car park is overgrown and needs landscaping maintenance. The 3rd party salon in reception has closed down and will not be reoccupied, rather converted into staff offices. It’s a mediocre health club which doesn’t really deliver on healthy living rituals.

Fantastic experience: It is a great club to be in! I love how friendly yet professional the staff are. Shout out to Eva Katai, one of the instructors, she has done amazing in all the Spirit, Yoga, and Zumba classes I have attended so far. My daughter learned how to swim in a month and her confidence in the water has grown from zero to a hundred.

Positive experience: At reception, Rose always greets us so beautifully and makes us feel welcome. Class and instructor, Annette, were fantastic. Air conditioning non-existent, however, and blinds needed on large studio window. Despite many complaints from clients, this has never been addressed.

Fantastic experience: I visited David Lloyd Aspley last week. I must say Rose on main reception is always so polite. On arrival I am always welcomed with a ‘good morning Neil’ and a towel placed in my hand. Without fail, Rose will say goodbye when departing the club. Negative experience: Unfortunately dirty place. Changing rooms, swimming pools are dirty. Multiple conversations with management team without any positive outcome. You can tell exactly what is dirty, you can point but after day/week/month that place still will be dirty. During your contract they can change rules / they can change price of your direct debit. If you want to leave you have to pay for minimum 3months advance. Avoid / Avoid / Avoid / Avoid

Positive experience: Manny was brilliant in setting me up with my membership. He was welcoming and so friendly especially as I had my toddler with me during sign up. He couldn't do enough and was so patient and understanding. I would recommend you ask for Manny if you want an interactive and informative tour of the facilities. She’s an asset to the club, so helpful and friendly Followed by 2 great classes by Annette, always the professional and so motivating, such a fab start to the day. And my visit was rounded off perfectly by excellent service from Vicky in the lounge. That girl knows our group coffee order better than we do , she’s so efficient and very accommodating
