Fantastic experience: Great local gym. It's well equipped, clean and friendly. Open pretty long hours too and never really a wait for Amy machines. Mem worship prices are reasonable and the gym supports the wider projects the YMCA offers.

Positive experience: Would be a 5 star gym for its price but it really needs some sort of age limit at 16. Too many young teens pissing about on the machines. After 7pm it's the perfect gym.

Fantastic experience: Been going for a couple of months now, and really enjoying it. They've got tons of equipment and the trainers are really helpful. They can also work out a plan/routine for you which is included in the affordable membership. Always has a friendly and inclusive atmosphere. The classes are also really good - upbeat, fun, and really good workout! (Highly recommend Julie's weight it up class)

Fantastic experience: As someone who'd never been to a gym in his life I'm so happy I chose the Y at North Shields. It's a bright, clean space with plenty of top-drawer kit. You see folk from all walks of life here and there's a really friendly, inclusive, community spirit. When I signed up I got a couple of coaching sessions with Sarah. She's a great coach; clear, patient, and up for a bit of craic. She's made me a tailored exercise regime to help me meet my goals which is brilliant. Really looking forward to becoming a regular at this gym.

Fantastic experience: The gym was recommended and it is alot better than I was expecting. From the outside I thought it looked quite small but once you get inside it's better equipped than half of the commercial gyms you go to. Really good space, I've only been a couple of times but always feel comfortable working out here. Definitely recommend.

Positive experience: I have been going to the YMCA quite a lot recently to attend a course being held there and while i was there had a look around the Gym. Although i haven't used this one as yet I have used other's in the past and this one is very well equipped with all the varied equipment to keep most fitness officionados happy. The Gym is very popular with a steady stream of clients arriving and leaving. There is a very good Cafe' across the way serving good food and drinks at an affordable price.

Fantastic experience: I have been using the YMCA gym now for a number of months and the facilities are great and the staff are very friendly. Once you've finished you're training, there is a nice cafe which is reasonably priced and offers food and protein shakes. The YMCA provides an excellent services to the local community and helps disadvantages kids throughout the area.

Fantastic experience: The gym is excellent value and is full of lots of new equipment. You get lots of free help from the staff including a tailored workout plan. Classes are included in the membership. The atmosphere is very easy going as the staff are approachable and there are people of all ages, shapes, and sizes working out. I am very happy to be a member

Negative experience: Very bad staff, felt very unwelcome, were constantly staring at me for no reason and men were talking about taking steroids and staff completely ignored it, would definately not reccomend this gym

Negative experience: Rude and unhelpful staff when I was trying to get in. Never been to a gym before and felt so unwelcome and lost. I also overheard 2 young guys talking openly in front of one of the staff members about doing steroids and it was just ignored. AVOID
