Positive experience: Decent cheap gym, reasonable amount of kit which is a problem when it's busy which is most of the time.

Positive experience: Cleaner than some other gyms. The layout feels awkward. The sports water machine doesn't work half of the time and the changing rooms close during the night, so you can't get changed or have a shower, meaning you can't really work up a sweat during a workout.

Fantastic experience: This gym has one of the most incredible supportive staff who have a wealth of knowledge and experience. It's a safe environment especially for ladies who just want to work out with no fuss and use the weight machines without having to feel they are being judged. There is plenty of floor space to work out. A very simple app to book onto classes. You can ask anyone of the PG team for assistance/help if you are not sure about any equipment or how to use it. I usually go at peak times and it isn't so busy that I cannot get to a machine or floor space, the classes are are really good from spin to strength training! Overall it is a fab gym and therfore I would totally recommend it!

Negative experience: This place has gone down hill. Maybe a change in management is needed. The gym is packed solid between 4pm-8pm and it is impossible for find any free space to exercise, let alone access any of the machines, squat racks, studio etc. Basically, if you want to use a machine or bench, then join the queue! People are left to using the prowler/sledge area as this is only bit of space free sometimes so it means no one can use the prowler/sledge. The gym is clearly over-sold hoping people will join and not attend! Cheap Matrix brand of low quality equipement, often broken and not fixed, for example the vibrating power plate, which was broken for months, never fixed and now disappeared, so if you were a fan of using that then tough luck. The incremental weights for the machines (2.5/5 lbs) have mostly disappeaared which is really unhelpful if you want to do progressive overload. Basic equipment such as skipping rope, resistance bands not present.....why? The PTs are only interested in talking to you if they think they can get you to buy their overpriced training sessions or if you're a girl (you know what I'm talking about!). Some of the previous staff used to correct people if they were passing by and saw someone using wrong form/had set up machine incorrectly, but those staff have left and as I said the current crop will only talk to you if they can make some money from you (wink wink) or if you're a girl (wink wink). No hot water for showers quite a few times in the last 12 months, sometimes for days on end. The showers are either cold or scalding and have not been fixed for months. Spoken to manager about some of these issues eg equipment, showers and issues still not resolved. Now given up. Another different brand gym has opened with similar pricing, more and better brand new equipment, sauna, women's area and free parking, please consider that one if you can. Even some of the Puregym PTs have left and gone there .

Positive experience: New lights need shades as they are way too bright giving people headaches. Staff is very helpful and always friendly though. Without the roof leaking, it’s an good gym considering the price.

Fantastic experience: Very good and clean gym I ever seen

Positive experience: Facilities are good, has everything you need and some specialist equipment. Location is ideal and good value for money. Sadly it’s let down by the people it attracts. Nobody in this gym has any respect for the equipment. Expect to see all the weight trees empty and the disks scattered across the floor. Expect to never see a pair of dumbbells together. Expect to never see a bench wiped down. Expect to never see people put away their weights after they’re finished. Expect to be walking around for some time trying to find an elusive 1.25kg plate for your progressive overload. The Staff are great and they often do their best to put stuff back to where it’s supposed to be. But when you have people loading 200kg onto a decline leg press and walk off, it’s very much a losing battle. Also wouldn’t recommend anyone trains between 1700 - 1900. It’s proximity to the local college and low cost means it’s also flooded by the ‘cheeky-Nando’ and ‘meet me at McDonald’s’ kind of clientele. You know the ones I mean. So if you do arrive and see a giant strawberry smelling vape cloud over the gym, leave it for an hour or so. Trust me.

Positive experience: Great little gym, but not always clean. Girls toilets look like they’ve been plastered most days, and the smell of BO hits when you walk in, always really musty and heavy. Could do with recirculating some of that! Beyond this a good crowd and enough kit to work out :)

Negative experience: I wish I could give them zero star rating, this company is a cheat honestly speaking. They sign me up for 12 month contracts without my knowledge, I went in to complain to manger and she promised to raise a complaint on my behalf but unfortunately no one calls me back. I couldn’t go to gym cos my working hour changed but I have to continue paying for the service I didn’t use. The customer service is the worst ever experienced. Pure gym Halifax customer service is extremely poor and I regret ever going to that gym. Please be careful and make sure you ask questions because they will sign you up for contract without your knowledge.

Negative experience: Alot of the equipment is broken, it's a small gym that charges more than larger puregyms but advertises "free parking for 2 hours" and the price difference being the price of 2 hours parking. Not enough space, everything is crammed in.

Fantastic experience: 1st Edit Jan 2024: I'm still enjoying visiting pure gym, its always clean and the equipment in good condition. The staff are friendly and helpful, although there has been a high turnover of staff during my membership but the reasons for this is not any business of mine and not impacting my time there. I love the app as it tells you how many people are in the gym before you visit, has equipment guides, recipes, workout plans etc. I feel safe and that other gym users are considerate to each other too. I continue to enjoy my visits to PureGym Halifax. Original review Aug 2023: Friendly staff, clean, well equipped, excellent class choice.

Every Fitness Team member is a credit to Pure Halifax. I have seen very positive body changes in myself since attending the weekly Fitness classes.

Maybe there should be a limit for the amount of people. Over 200 people at my last visit. Still a great gym but having groups of young kids waiting to use the equipment isn't great. Time limited

Fantastic experience: Ideal if you have a job that enables you to come in at the quieter times. There is always plenty of equipment available to use whenever I have been there. Equipment is always clean and quickly repaired if a fault develops.

Fantastic experience: Good large clean gym . Good amount of equipment and maintainted well , so you don't get equipment out for ages . 24 hours makes it very convenient for me , as I work varying hours. Plus side also allows me to come twice a day , one for my workout and sometimes I will come back for a cardio session in the evening . The vending machines are pricey , could be a bit more competitive as it helps when you forget your drink or protein shake to buy one , otherwise I avoid and wait untill I'm at a shop. Take a look at the elasticity of demand , sell at a lower price but a greater amount and they'll do better .

Fantastic experience: Most definitely one of my favourite places to be, losing weight, improving health physically and mentally and met some good people here. The atmosphere is calm and relaxed and I've never felt out of place

Negative experience: To update: I had already reported similar issues via Twitter DMs and also via the PureGym app prior to cancelling. Nice large space, good selection of equipment though not a fan of the current layout as some equipment such as rowing machines being right next to the door make you feel a little bit on view. Also the isotonic drinks dispenser for their premium members has ran out on my last 3 visits and you get odd tasting water instead. I chose to cancel my membership after this session after as the gym has been freling increasingly less safe. These are unstaffed after a certain time and seem to attract groups of young men who seem to have to make a lot of phone calls to friends before getting a code to enter or have to mess about with the entrance pods in order to get in and out. On leaving 3 young men tried first to cram two people in to a pod and eventually forced the doors on one of the sides in order to leave. The same groups are often stood around the equipment I would like to use, often in outdoor wear (working out in boots and jackets) and are too busy showing each other videos and music to actually work out. It does not create a nice environment. On two consecutive visits I've seen female members, who i presume were alone, choose to workout on the cross trainer next to me instead of any of the other dozen empty ones possibly to avoid looking like they were alone and then leave almost straight after. This one seems to have a lot of the gear nobody wants to use but only one of anything that people do want to use meaning when there are groups stood around this on their phones then you can't have a productive workout.

Positive experience: Shame they close the locker rooms at night but accessible shower was clean and available. Equipment is modern, clean and in good working order. Plenty of free weights, can be busy at peak times but overall a good gym with free parking (up to 2 hrs)

Fantastic experience: Very clean and tidy and not very busy so could get on all the machines and very friendly staff and management always happy to help and just a friendly place to be. I'm really liking my time at the gym so would highly recommend and if you like classes then puregym is a place for you there run classes all day every day and classes to suit all. So like i say i highly recommend puregym as a good gym to go to you will love your time there.
