Our comment from FitFit UK about Sports Centre:
The Sports Centre in Stirling, United Kingdom, is a fantastic facility catering to a wide range of athletic needs. With excellent sports facilities, it is a perfect place for workouts, dance, yoga, and spin classes. Users praise the well-maintained equipment and high-quality environment, noting that the gym is equipped with state-of-the-art machines, and the changing rooms are kept to a high standard.
Highlights of the centre include:
- Variety of Activities: From swimming to badminton, and even outdoor sports, the facilities cater to all interests.
- Friendly and Helpful Staff: Many users rave about the helpful instructors and staff who assist in making the experience enjoyable.
- Cafe and Amenities: The on-site cafe offers reasonable prices and good food, ideal for post-workout refueling.
- Modern Interior: The centre showcases a beautiful renovation and a welcoming atmosphere.
- Community Integration: The Sports Centre is not only popular among students but also serves the local community.
However, some users have raised concerns about the equipment availability during peak hours and the pricing of certain facilities, such as indoor tennis courts, which have been noted as being on the pricier side in comparison to similar centres. Parking also poses challenges due to its temporary layout during renovations.
Despite these minor setbacks, the overall consensus suggests that the Sports Centre is a superb facility that offers a great community experience for all sports enthusiasts.
Sports Centre: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Fantastic facility
Negative experience: Insufficient amount of bench to use, which lead to a really bad workout experience
Fantastic experience: This is the place to work out, dance, do yoga, spin classes. You name it you can train for it here. From beginners to olympic standard and beyond! They even have playing fields and world class swimming pool.
Negative experience: Unfortunately the tennis courts indoors are drastically overpriced, which is a shame. The centre charges £12 an hour more than comparable centres south of the border with very similar facilities.
Fantastic experience: Fab
Fantastic experience: Excellent sports facilities
Positive experience: 1st time back since being a student many years ago. Used the swimming. Great facilities, wee bit busy, but was expected due to club training at same time. Cafe good too and prices very reasonable. Great walk around the campus afterwards, lovely views.
Positive experience: Fantastic set up all round !!
Fantastic experience: "Sports sports sports" - Xavier
Fantastic experience: Great gym with a nice cafe. Changing rooms/toilets/showers are cleaned to a high standard. All the equipment is virtually brand new and free classes with the instructors included. Gym instructors and PT’s are all superb and first initial consultations and plan developments are great. Can be busy in the evening and late afternoon, but it’s a public and student gym so you can hardly begrudge it that. Usually quiet in winter and summer when students are away!
Fantastic experience: The University of Stirling has the best sports centre in the UK
Fantastic experience: Great ceremony and very nice place
Positive experience: Maintained very well. Have booked for badminton for 2hrs. The floor and rackets were good. Had great time playing at the court.
Fantastic experience: Great place for sports
Fantastic experience: Duże centrum sportu, jednak z zewnątrz nie wygląda. Siłownia i hale sportowe. Pozdrowienia dla volleyball team.
Fantastic experience: Great facilities
Fantastic experience: Atmosphere, modern interior, great quality, super service .
Fantastic experience: Beautiful renovation.
Fantastic experience: Very good centre with excellent staff.
Positive experience: Very limited equipment especially during busy hours. It's quite a small gym for lifters honestly.. lots of cardio but minimal lifting machines/benches
Fantastic experience: Fabulous facilities. Great to assist my viditors who were doing zparkrun. Excellent cafe. Looking forward to my nxt visit
Negative experience: Poorly laid out and signed parking and delivery/drop off area. No area to drop off gym goers, no area to drop off deliveries. No clear signs to direct traffic for deliveries to sports complex. Arrived at a barrier and hoped for the best. No signage as to what was beyond the barrier. Rang bell to be told it was parking for blue badge holders. Fortunately with the suggestion of me dropping off 42 portions of hot food containers at the barrier, delivering them for a professional football team training at uni, I was permitted into the holy land of reserved parking. Strangely enough of all the spaces reserved for blue badge holders no more than 20% of spaces were actually occupied. It’s great that these spaces are kept aside for those in need and even better to see the University striving to appease the council’s clipboard pen pushers but spare a thought for the other 96% of drivers who could just do with a little space to offload.
Positive experience: Nice
Fantastic experience: Campus bellissimo ! Sembra di essere in un film !
Negative experience: Lack of localised parking to football parks and also parks not lined clearly making for a difficult game, surprised the game was allowed to progress going by gsr manager claims that jock stein park was poorly lined!
Positive experience: Sports Centre a.k.a the centre of uni cos the uni only cares about sports. RIP Humanities
Positive experience: The Sport Centre has a lot of new facilities offering a wide range of classes. It's a very nice community with a mix of students and local community members
Fantastic experience: Variety of sport facilities
Fantastic experience: Super facilities, a big change since I was a student there in the 80s
Fantastic experience: Great equipment very helpful staff
Positive experience: Only go to play badminton and have not used any other facility. Courts are excellent, and better now they've stopped the annoying music!
Negative experience: Christmas tunes in the gym, grow up. Came there to lift weight not listen to Mariah carey.
Positive experience: Looks like a great, new complex. Had trouble finding our way in though. Once inside it looks well laid out and functional. Wish I had had a tertiary facility like this, to attend, when I was younger.
Fantastic experience: Very clean and quick, friendly service. The tuna wrap was just perfect.
Fantastic experience: Great swimming pool, great facilities, no fiss
Negative experience: Gym has lots of fancy tech. But doesn't even have the basics.
Fantastic experience: Great gym, friendly instructors and staff. Classes are easy to book and varied.
Fantastic experience: What a great campus, was give a fantastic tour. Look forward to the open day.
Positive experience: Really impressive sports facilities, very clean, staff seemed to be helpful, service users seemed happy
Negative experience: Very poor management for such a grandiose facility. Been there on Sunday the 10 of October with my 5 year old and experienced horrendous attitude from some person whom herself as “I am the manager”. Called ahead to book a place and found out that there is no booking required anymore. Two weeks before I have been refused entry because I did not have a booking Anyway, went to the place, paid at the reception and asked how long can I use the facilities for. All day was the answer, from a very polite front person. We went to the swimming pool, changed and continued to the basin. There were about 20 staff sitting around the pool, chatting, and three customers whom were getting ready to enter the pool. I have entered the water first. My daughter was exited to follow me. However, all over sudden a person came and told me: “You have to get out, the swimming pool is CLOSED!” I wasn’t sure what was she talking about. There was this other person getting ready to jump in the water who was also confused by such rudely unpleasant approach. As you do, I asked what do you mean closed? I called ahead, asked at the reception, paid and now when I am in the swimming pool you tell me is closed? Her reply was, rudely and aggressively whilst loudly chowing a gum, “ I am the manager…. the swimming pool opens from 10:45.” I checked the wall clock, the time was 10:39 hence I asked: “ What do you expect me to do? Get out of the water now, wait for 5 minutes and jump back in? She rudely reply, “Yes!” and continued: “ the swimming pool is ready to use but is not open for another 5 minutes. I did not go out because it seemed silly and seemed like she’s making up rules as she goes along just to play “the manager”. Moreover, her attitude was simply passive aggressive plainly rude, with a authoritarian voice. Such behaviour and attitude is used by animal trainers, not managers working with families. Her scope was to obey her at any costs. By now the time was already 10:45…. Anyway the story goes on in such a disgraceful manner which ruined our experience and thus decided with my daughter to leave the place. BTW, wanted to use the disabled toilets, these were in a shocking state, dirty with lots of paper lying on the floor. Incredible but the nightmare continues Whilst at the reception, wanting to exit the premises, she, “the manager”, again approached us. We were asking for a refund and the receptionist was doing just that. However, I don’t know why, a person removed he face cover showing her face to me asked me: “ Do you remember me?” She was sitting at a desk. And, yes, tou guessed right, it was “the manager” again!!! And so the nightmare continued… She started addressing us with am obvious intention to reprimand us. That it. Simple as that. Although, I told clearly, explicitly many times that I do not want to speak with her because she’s overreacting and making the situation unpleasant, she simply would not leave us alone… incredible… There is more to it but I would just stop here… You can draw conclusions. My daughter blamed us both for ruining her swimming experience and told me she does not want to go there anymore.
Fantastic experience: Good pool, nice cafe.

Fantastic experience: Amazing place the staff so nice. I love it
Fantastic experience: My boys do a lot of swimming in the National Centre & I enjoy a lovely walk around the river to pass the time waiting. Today there were lots of ducks & a swan on its nest.
Positive experience: Massive investment into an excellent range of new facilities and enhancements to the original ones. Once fully accessible to the students and local community after Covid restrictions lifted, this shall be one of the best all round multi-sport facilities in the UK.
Positive experience: Nice enough.
Positive experience: Great to swim again after long break
Positive experience: Great facility and Grandsons team won 18-0
Fantastic experience: Great equipment, lovely staff. The new building is gorgeous!
Fantastic experience: Went for a wee look tonight, the set up ooks great. Well done guy's.
Fantastic experience: To try to lose weight
Positive experience: Really great staff and an exciting new facility in the way
Negative experience: Far too busy, have to wait 10 mins to get on what you want, an hour work out takes half an hour longer, parking is miles away.
Fantastic experience: Top class facilities
Fantastic experience: Awesome. Got so many facilities, fitness classes and exercises and their officers are willing to help and assist
Positive experience: You don't have to be 23 and a size 10 to be here. I found people to be friendly and approachable. I'm very overweight and unfit so for me to be happy to go to the gym is really important. Out of everyone I definitely should be going to the gym! And because the people there are so nice, I've finally found a gym I can go to on a regular basis. The facilities will really get better once the new buildings are completed, so look out for the changes in 2020.
Fantastic experience: Great graduation ceremony
Fantastic experience: Great facilities
Fantastic experience: 各种设备 人不少呢
Fantastic experience: excellent.....very impressive
Positive experience: Facilities are good but the place is a building site at the moment. Be aware that while this is going on, you can't really park at the sports centre but will have to go to the main car park
Positive experience: We stayed at Willow Court so we were able to use the gym for free! There was a lot of equipment both strength machine and cardo machines -like bikes, treadmills etc. It was very spacious with the most squat racks I've ever seen in one gym! Plenty of light and heavy weights and the pool next door opens tomorrow and looked decent
Negative experience: The changing facilities are poor.
Fantastic experience: Nice quite in mornings
Fantastic experience: Very efficient and could cater to my needs regarding gym and pool
Fantastic experience: Good place for walks and shop's
Fantastic experience: Great modern facilities
Negative experience: Imtiaz
Fantastic experience: Awesome gym
Positive experience: Great facility. Difficult to gain access to the sports hall at the minute with the renovations happening, but it'll look awesome once completed.
Fantastic experience: When it was open it had a fantastic range of facilities. Good pool, great air conditioned gym, nice cafe and other stuff. Hope it's replacement is worthy.
Fantastic experience: Just picking up staff
Negative experience: A lot of machines and quite spacious, though intimidating at first. Staff don't seem that approachable and machines are clearly dated. It's okay once you figure stuff out, but it's all very confusing at first.
Fantastic experience: Lovely scenery friendly staff a pleasure to visit
Fantastic experience: If you are into sport then this place has it all. Fabulous facilities.
Positive experience: Great place
Fantastic experience: Fantastic sporting facilities
Positive experience: Needs some maintenance done to the equipment. And a reduduction in fees. Friendly staff.
Negative experience: Portocabin gym! LOL
Fantastic experience: Beautiful artificial pitches and natural pitches too. The Gym is the best, many equipments but not so many instructors. Incase you didnt bring your gym clothes, dont worry there is plenty to choose from (yeah buying). Readily available snacks and sports drinks
Fantastic experience: Will be great when redeveloped. Personally like the temporary layout better than what was there before. Only downside is electric showers ....but it is temporary
Fantastic experience: Amazing place stunning views
Fantastic experience: I went in to check out the gym and I wasn't disappointed. They have one of the best gyms I've ever been to and the best gym in the City. There's a lot of equipments for training each individual muscles and their cardio setup is really impressive. They also got studios if u just want to stretch or do some mat exercises. On top of that it's very affordable especially for students.
Fantastic experience: Brilliant place and amazing staff
Fantastic experience: Not for nothing is this the university of sporting excellence. Top class sports people from swimming, in particular, have used the excellent facilities. Well equipped gym with all the machinery you'll ever need. The local area offers superb hill running with this as your base. And that's now, just wait until the new £20 million sport centre opens in 2020.
Positive experience: Attended as part of the Special Olympics GB 40th Anniversary games. Lovely Campus. Reasonable facilities.
Fantastic experience: Sehr sauber
Positive experience: Very nice
Fantastic experience: Takeaway, cafes, restaurant, cinema, theatre, fantastic sports facilities, beautiful surroundings what else do you need?
Fantastic experience: Fantastic place.
