Fantastic experience: Great place to swim

Negative experience: We already pay £32 a month, and having to pay extra for lockers every day is frustrating. There’s no even water available in the gym, and the equipment is old and not working properly. It feels like the focus is more on making money than providing a good experience for members and the community.

Negative experience: I recently had a very disappointing experience at Elswick Swimming Pool. I called ahead to confirm that I could bring three children, clearly stating their ages over the phone. The person I spoke to assured me that it would be fine to come with them. However, upon arrival, the manager refused to let us in, claiming I hadn’t mentioned my son’s age and he was too young. This was frustrating, as I had already provided all necessary information. To make matters worse, the manager insisted on seeing photo ID for my 8-year-old son, which is unreasonable since most children of that age don't have photo ID. It felt like the manager was being unnecessarily difficult and was looking for reasons to deny us entry. Overall, the experience left me feeling frustrated and discriminated against. I hope the management at Elswick Swimming Pool takes this feedback seriously and improves their communication and customer service skills. I won't be returning any time soon.

Fantastic experience: Lovely morning adults only swim here and staff are very friendly and helpful.

Negative experience: I was advised that you need to pay an additional 25p per locker each time you use one. If you're already paying £30 per month for gym and swimming access, and you need to use a locker each time to get changed, this could add up to an additional £15, making it £45 a month. This cost could be even higher if you forget something in your locker and need to open it again. While I understand that this gym operates as a charity, it is already the most expensive gym in an impoverished area. It seems unreasonable to impose extra charges, especially given that the gym should ideally be supporting the local community. These additional costs make it less accessible for those who may benefit most from its services.

Fantastic experience: Decided to take some much needed and long overdue swimming lessons... alongside my boy. Shout out to our instructor Phil - top bloke, highly knowledgeable, very reassuring, patient and expert guidance helping me learn that which I missed during childhood. Changing facilities, lockers and showers are always clean and well maintained. Addition of snackfast cafe is really handy too. Great facilities, great staff - all really helpful.

Fantastic experience: Enjoy taking two children I care for in holiday times and the kids they couldn't get enough of the pool, im so glad I have some where to go with them, they love it and to caring staff.

Negative experience: During the children's swimming time, the car was parked in a parking lot with CCTV. One car was hit by someone. I reported the situation to the reception desk and asked them to check the CCTV, but they said they could not check it and had to call the police before they could check it. Then I called the police and took the reference number of the report, and then went to the swimming pool reception desk to ask to check the CCTV. The result was that only they could check it themselves, and no one else was allowed to check it. Then they told me: Come over the next day and tell me the registration number of the car that caused the accident. The next day, they said that they saw the car that caused the accident loaded into my car, but they couldn't see the registration number of that hit and run car. It's ridiculous. You can't watch the CCTV even though you have the police report number. They can only check it by themselves, but they can't find anything can help even the registration number, and they didn’t do anything can help the customers. When they have recorded of the accident, but they still can't see the car registration number. Is this intentional? Or did you find out that it was one of your own colleagues who hit him? That's why u said u couldn't check the car registration number? Everyone is welcome to play bumper cars in their parking

Ciò che non mi piace molto della struttura è come sono organizzate le docce, i bagni ecc... non c'è divisione tra uomo e donna. Piscina dalla giusta temperatura che però durante l apertura al pubblico è pienissima.

Fantastic experience: What a great pool. We went on a social evening with friends. It is set up just right, and it's extremely clean. There is also a gym above the pool. It has its own private parking spaces too. It is a hidden gem. The main door is set in a nature park. I was very pleasantly surprised. They also sell items such as swimwear, goggles, etc. The staff are absolutely great. Thumbs up

Positive experience: Bring my son for swimming lessons and they have been great so far, teacher has been really good with him and his fear of water. I dread the car parking every week though!! Spaces are so tight and it is so busy, it has been gridlocked the last 4 weeks.looking for somewhere else to park and walk up as its crazy.it is a 20 min drive for us so unfortunately we can't walk that distance and public transport to this area is non existent for us. Pool and staff have been great though

Fantastic experience: Brought my 3 month old here and he loved the fact the pool wasn't freezing cold. Facilities were clean and staff helpful. A little improvement could be the baby changing facilities, I'm lucky he stays still enough for the changing table available but if your baby is more mobile I can imagine it would be difficult. Great price for the baby swim lessons too which we'll be signing up for in a few weeks

Fantastic experience: Great that this community pool has done all it can to remain open and of service to their local neighbourhood! Its a little gem in the west end. what else? Well trained, welcoming staff who recognise children and young people can't all swim and allow them to play, have fun and build water confidence. Also I think this is the only pool in Newcastle accessible for babies and toddlers and those who can't swim and want a sloped entrance, i.e. to just splash about and enjoy the water - not swim. It also has diving level depth so the best of both worlds and good for mixed groups and families. A timetable that does its best to cater for all- whats not to love :D

Fantastic experience: I moved to using Elswick Pool, in April 2021, when Go Gateshead still hadn't opened their pools since March 2020. This pool and the staff are a revelation, everyone is very friendly, pool and changing rooms are always clean. I also love the community ethos, providing a swim programme which reflects the needs of locals such as gender only swims, disability swims, public swims, inflatable session, and early adult only sessions starting at 6am for those of us who want a swim before work. I won't be returning to my former pool.

Fantastic experience: 1st time ever at this pool. Came with 3 grandchildren. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The temperature was perfect. We booked our slot and there was just the right amount of people there. I couldn't recommend it enough. Well done Elswick pool. Lovely park just outside if you have enough energy left after your swim.
