Flacks Fit 24

Positive experience: Recent member ~ 2months. I hope to leave an honest and complete review of what I like and don't like about my short time at flacks fit. Positives: Gym is ok value for money for a small 24hr local gym. Lots of equipment - several of certain machines etc which makes busy times more bearable. Very friendly staff/ gym ethos is very positive. Internal of the gym always seems clean and tidy - frequently see staff tidying up weights etc and cleaning bathrooms. 24 hrs access Negatives: The gym is absolutely freezing at the moment which is putting me off going. Heat lamps are present in the top floor weights area, however they never seem to be on when I go and unless im missing something, no obvious way to turn them on. Feels like energy cost saving at sacrifice of member comfort. Some of the equipment isn't in the best shape. Clearly VERY well used - far from a premium feel compared to other gyms. Hands often left dirty after using equipment which isn't pleasant. The entrance hall to the gym is damp and mouldy. So much so there is a strong smell upon entry and the growing black patches across the walls are very off putting and can go several days/ weeks looking like nothing is being done to combat it. It's an old building, so a certain amount of cold and damp are to be expected but the extent to which it is overlooked is disappointing. Not cleaning the mould regularily, nor adequately heating the gym really lets flacks down from feeling like a very pleasant gym. It's understandable that some of this is easier said than done, such as mould several meters up. I'm sure everyone understands that is difficult to deal with regularily. But walking past the same patches of head to floor level height mould on the walls on a daily basis is unnaceptable. And heat lamps are expensive to run! But why have them to not use them? Why not take some inspiration from the pub garden and provide members with an on demand, but sensibly timed heat source. I'd happily update this review to 5 stars, as I like the staff and the gym feels relatively spacious, but as it stands, the experience of frequenting flacks during the colder months doesnt warrant it. It's a shame more care and consideration isn't being given to members regarding this. Nobody likes walking through a mouldy corridor to workout in a freezing cold gym, no matter how good the staff may be, or plentiful the equipment. I'm sure it's a 5 star gym in spring/summer.

Fantastic experience: Great gym with a good variety of equipment. Treadmills, steppers, bikes, weights machines and free weights. Staff are welcoming and helpful and there's access 24 hours a day.

Positive experience: Nice gym with plenty of equipment and space. I like it a lot but it has lost stars over the winter because it’s absolutely freezing inside no matter how hard you’re working. I understand it’s an old building but it’s often colder in the gym than outside and borderline dangerous to be exerting yourself when it’s below freezing indoors. The women’s area is well stocked but easily the coldest room in the building. In the early morning, most members are wearing hoodies and I have seen one in a coat. I sometimes struggle to get through my workouts because the rooms and the equipment (especially as barbells and dumbbells are metal) are too cold hold for long. Really hope it’s like the wasp nest situation and staff are onto finding a fix - like a heater. Improvements have been made since I joined and hopefully they will continue making them (like fixing the holes in the ceiling grid and the weak wifi). I haven’t suffered any racism from staff but have from members. Based on other reviews there’s no point in reporting it. Having brown skin means I’m used to it but it’s always disappointing and upsetting to experience.

Fantastic experience: Such an amazing gym couldn’t imagine going anywhere else, it’s clean, there’s more than one of each machine, and the staff are lovely. I asked one of the staff members if there was anywhere I could pray, they opened up a room for me and even gave me something to pray on always going above and beyond. Best gym in the airevalley!!

Fantastic experience: I’ve been to loads of gyms previously and not one compare to flacks! From The staff the machines and the other members! I can’t go to the classes with my work shifts but the staff are so kind to leave me the class work outs or even put one together for me so I don’t miss out! They are very approachable and when I first started I was abit nervous but they made me feel so comfortable and at ease! Esah in the supplement shop is also very knowledgeable and is always there to help with nutrition goals. All in all the best gym!

Fantastic experience: I have seen people giving Flacks Fitness 1 star. In my opinion, rules are for a reason and isn’t enough to rate them low on. Been a member just over a year and absolutely Fantastic gym! The Best equipment with such great atmosphere and also very clean. I pass 3 different gyms to get to flacks its that good! Not sure about the discrimination reviews I'm Asian and was recommended by an Asian member

Fantastic experience: Probably the most inclusive gym I’ve been to, very clean, good range and quantity of equipment, separate ladies room if required. Range of ages, shapes and sizes use facilities, and I have never felt awkward. Staff there to help if required but not pushy to do personal training or plans, but there if you want it.

Fantastic experience: I joined Flacks last week as it’s very close to home. Ollie spent an age today putting a shoulder programme and a legs programme together for me. He was quite frankly brilliant, very friendly and very knowledgeable. I cannot recommend this place highly enough for being a space without supermodels, lumps of kids on machines and prima donnas. Everyone keeps themselves to themselves, which is how a gym should be. I’m very much looking forward to my fitness journey at Flacks! 10

Negative experience: Yes unfortunatley the other low score reviews are correct they show discrimination and won't let you join if you do not fit their prejudiced criteria.

Negative experience: Me and my family tried to join flacks, they said that they couldn’t give us a membership right away and we would need to be “interviewed” before they considered giving us membership. Bit weird but thought fair enough, probably posh or something. My dad left his contact details etc. he received a call from the manager the following morning, saying he doesn’t think we’re suitable for the gym and maybe we should try elsewhere. My guess would be because we’re brown and hence don’t fit into their “requirements”. .

Positive experience: Been going for a couple month and its clean n spacious, more than enough equipment but it still gets busy in the prime hours. Some of the attachments are starting to show their use and age but still gets the job done well

Negative experience: Impossible to get an appointment to sign in xD i have tried 5x to sign in and never got call back. Worst gym ever

Negative experience: Do not join this gym if you are ever thinking of cancelling your membership. I joined the gym in June 2022 and paid an upfront cost to use to gym for the rest of the month and set up a direct debit that I was informed could be cancelled at anytime before the end of the month. Once I cancelled my membership, I received text messages from Ashbourne Management informing me that I owed a payment for the month of July (even though I only used the gym once during June and cancelled my membership before the end of the month). The staff were not helpful when trying to deal with this issue and both Ashbourne and Flacks Fitness told me to contact each other and provided no guidance or help.

Negative experience: Discrimination at its finest, don’t let you join the gym based on what you look like or what you are wearing. avoid at all cost

Fantastic experience: There's lots of reasons to train here... Friendly staff, spacious areas throughout, lots of equipment, classes, 24hr access, it's clean, women-only rooms, etc. It can be a bit hard to get a free parking spot in the middle of Bingley if you're going there at peak times, but there's always the local Aldi where you can buy a drink and leave your motor for an hour's training. There's also showers and lockers (bring a lock!). The clientele is probably not much different to other gyms, with the odd he-man and primadonna swanning about. But generally this is a gym full of regular people of all shapes and sizes, here to train; and people are always polite to each other. The best part is it's much cheaper than other places in the area, although it's probably a bit no-frills compared to the gyms where you go for a pampering too. I don't know how they do it but I'm glad they can. Top place. ️‍♂️

When there open during the pandemic they follow all guidelines and have plenty of Ppe around. Just a shame there having to close at moment but il definitely be back soon as they open

Fantastic experience: Lovely clean gym. Everyone’s friendly, they all make you feel so comfortable. If your not sure of anything the staff will talk things over with you. They have a good choice of classes and hopefully once lockdown is over and everything is back to normal they might do some more classes. Would recommend flacks fit 24 to anyone. Fantastic experience: As someone who has zero confidence when walking into a gym, I can't praise the staff enough for making you feel so much at ease. Peter, Lisa, Tommy and Jamie are always so friendly and polite when you walk in and out, addressing you by first name which I think makes it much more personal. It shows they are taking the time to know who their members are. I have been having PT sessions with Ash and he has been absolutely amazing with me. He is really helping me build my confidence and is there to support me even when not at the gym training. Would 100% recommend him if you are considering personal training sessions. The gym facilities are incredibly clean and with the current pandemic I can honestly say they are going above and beyond to ensure they machines and surroundings are kept clean and hygienic making their members feel safe. The staff are always at hand if you need something and just so accommodating. The different floors and the layout make you feel you're not on top of everyone. Great gym and couldn't recommend it enough! It is now my safe haven! They just need to keep doing the amazing work they're doing! x

Fantastic experience: I have been training with Ash over the last 9 months and whilst I’ve only been a member here since July I can honestly say it the best gym I’ve ever been a member of. The equipment is really good quality and the whole gym is super clean. During the pandemic, the staff have been aware of government rules and have made it a very safe place to be with extra cleaning, social distancing and generally keeping everyone aware of new rules. Everyone is respectful, all the staff are really friendly and if you are considering joining a gym I’d definitely recommend FlacksFit!

Fantastic experience: Great big gym with lovely staff members. Great how it is no-contract so I can only pay for when I am home from uni. All of the classes are great and love how there is a women's only room.

Fantastic experience: As a visually impaired person, Tommy, who initially showed me around, was so respectful and courteous. Since I've joined, the staff are exceptionally friendly and they all know my name, unlike the corporate superficiality of large gyms. They also care about the personal touch making sure I had all the assistance I need and going that extra step to support me. Peter, Jamie, Lisa, Josh and Ash all make a great team by being so welcoming and professional. Having trained in Oxford and abroad, I can truly say, this is indeed one of the most friendly, client orientated gyms I've used. The last two I paid for in the area were a disaster, despite their hype. Flackfit is my oasis of calmness, fun, physical and mental wellness in a genuinely inclusive environment.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely love this gym, all of the clients & staff are so friendly. The classes are varied & there’s so much help at hand from the personal trainers to make sure you get the very best out of your workout. The facilities are great with so much equipment, designated ladies gyms & spin rooms. I’ve made so many new friends there & really look forward to going can’t wait until lockdowns over & I can get back as missing my gym family x

Fantastic experience: I’ve not been a member here for very long but I can honestly say it is without doubt the best gym I’ve ever been to. I already feel like part of the family, every one is so friendly and helpful and after one visit they even remembered my name!! The equipment is of really good quality and there are loads of excellent classes to choose from, even during lockdown they are offering lots of support on zoom. If anyone is considering joining a gym join this one, you won’t regret it
