Fantastic experience: One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in, and I have stayed in lots of hotel. Every single member of staff deserves a commendation for their attitude and their service skills. It was a real joy to stay there with my family.

Fantastic experience: This is an unfairly late review, especially considering our delightful weekend stay in early summer. Every single member of staff seemed markedly pleased to be working at the Wood Hall Hotel, they were each genuinely lovely, and truly *enjoyed* being hospitable. They are an asset! I wish I could remember the room number now, but it was one with a bay window and a pretty view. We arrived exhausted and left on the Sunday definitely buoyed up. I do recommend.

Fantastic experience: Arrived after a bad journey full of motorway diversions on Sat 7th Sept for a 2 night break. The staff on reception were extremely pleasant and welcoming and offered us some prosecco which we sipped in the lounge overlooking the garden which made us relax straight away.The hotel and grounds are beautiful the breakfast was particularly good. We also booked an afternoon tea on our first day and relaxed with meals in the bar which again were really good after full days sightseeing.We really couldn't fault the service and attentiveness of the staff without it seeming too pretentious, the rooms were large and catered for everthing and extra touches make it a lovely place to stay we would definitely recommend and will return again hopefully in a few months before Christmas.

Positive experience: Afternoon Tea at Wood Hall Hotel & Spa We decided to head out for afternoon tea for my my birthday and Wood Hall Hotel & Spa truly lives up to its reputation as a luxurious country retreat. The stunning grounds, picturesque views, and warm welcome set the stage for a memorable experience. From the moment you arrive, the attentive staff and beautifully appointed dining room create an atmosphere of relaxation and elegance. The afternoon tea itself offered a delightful mix of savoury and sweet treats. The black pudding roll and honey roast ham quiche were standouts, showcasing exceptional taste and texture. However, the finger sandwiches were a slight disappointment. While the selection was varied, the portion sizes felt small, the bread was dry, and the sparse fillings, left us wanting more. The scones, however, were fresh and delicious, setting the stage for a delightful sweet finale. The cakes were the true stars, each one a masterpiece of flavour and texture. The white chocolate ganache matcha sable was a personal favourite, showcasing the chef's creativity and culinary skill. The beautiful gardens provided the perfect setting to linger after our meal, enjoying the rare sunshine and engaging in leisurely conversation. While the sandwiches could use a bit more attention, the overall experience was enhanced by the friendly staff and the tranquil ambiance of the Wood Hall Hotel grounds. Despite the minor misstep with the sandwiches, The stunning setting, attentive staff, and exquisite cakes make it a worthwhile visit.

Fantastic experience: We really enjoyed our stay at Wood Hall, amazing personeel and service. All food was well prepared and the location is peaceful and green.

Positive experience: Given the cost of the rooms the standard of cleaning is not what you would expect, the decor in places is a little tired, the grounds are great and well maintained. All the staff are well presented and very polite. The level of attention provided to customers is great.

Fantastic experience: Stop 3 on the pub crawl. Beautiful location. Best part of £40 for two double vodkas with mixer and couldn't remortgage on a Saturday so had to move on.

Fantastic experience: My daughter got married at woodhall. It was the best experience ever. The staff were wonderful and very helpful. Food was delicious. All the guests loved the place, elegant and peaceful. Definitely will be booking it again for my sons wedding too.

Negative experience: I ate in the lounge with my family this evening. We ordered a pizza, a burger, and bangers and mash. The mayo came out slathered in mayo, which was not listed in the description. I attempted to remove the mayo myself, but it was absolutely everywhere. When I asked the server about the mayo, she went to check with her manager. The manager came out and proceeded to argue with me about the mayo, claiming it was burger sauce that was 100 percent free of mayo. This “burger sauce” clearly has a mayo base, at minimum, but he didn’t seem to care. He did not offer to have a fresh burger made free of his mayo monstrosity. He just walked away. After about 10 minutes he came over and asked if I wanted something else, but the absurd argument had already ruined my meal. This was horrific hospitality, and I suggest anyone that wants to have an enjoyable evening stay far far away from the horrendous customer service here.

Fantastic experience: On what was our first visit, we discovered that the location and view are understated. Absolutely beautiful Yorkshire surroundings. The staff are all so welcoming and informative. Shout out to Gabby, for speedy and efficient cocktail bar service. We enjoyed the restaurant atmosphere and the meal was not disappointing. Hopeful for a return visit because the view from the drawing room (formally a library) is worth it alone. Made complete with extremely thoughtful touches, from a prosecco on arrival to a gift bag of drinks and fruit on departure.

Fantastic experience: We met friends here for a meal and stayed overnight for convenience. I hadn’t done any research in advance as was booked by our friends and what a lovely surprise it was. Fantastic welcome on arrival, stunning room which was dog friendly and an incredibly impressive meal. All round, a really fantastic experience and we didn’t even get to the spa so sure this would have added to it also.

Positive experience: I had a lovely afternoon tea here. The room and atmosphere was great.

Fantastic experience: We had a really special Christmas lunch with extended family today, the venue looked absolutely beautiful with the festive decorations (and the snow!). The food was great and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. So many lovely thoughtful small details were thought of and went into making it a lovely day. We will definitely be back, by far the best place we’ve ever booked for a Christmas meal! Thank you.

Fantastic experience: We stayed here for the night as we had a nearby event to attend. Reasonably close to the A1M, and the route up to the hotel is a narrow road but with amazing views. Easy parking, and very safe. We had a friendly greeting at reception and offered a glass of prosecco while our bags. were taken up to the rooms. We were in the older part of the building and rooms are spectacular with tasteful decor and furnishings. Bathrooms are well kitted out but feel a bit tired and could possibly do with a revamp (this being my only complaint of the stay). Instead of a 'Do not disturb' sign for your door handle, you can leave Bobby the Badger outside your door (see photo). Breakfast the next morning was tailored to exactly how I like it, and the blueberry muffins were possibily the best I've had. It's a shame we missed dinner, as I'm sure this would have been excellent. However, there are not enough superlatives for me to describe the staff who seem to go out of their way to make you feel special. This describes all the reception staff and the staff in the restaurant. A nice little touch was the travel pack we were given on checkout, with bottles of water, apples and cakes for the car journey home. I would definitely recommend if you are in the Leeds/Wetherby area and need a place to stay.

Positive experience: Went for a wedding, and seemed like a good venue, all the staff were polite but everything so needlessly expensive (drinks) so can't give any more than 3 stars.

Fantastic experience: I didn't stay here but I went for a spa day as a treat. The hotel is beautiful outside and in and even tho the spa is small the experience was lovely and relaxing. I had free rein of the spa facilities, followed by a full body massage and a facial. Which relaxed me even more. After this I was taken into the hotel for afternoon tea and a cold glass of champagne with a beautiful view. I then had a walk around the grounds. Definitely worth a visit and a treat to yourself

Positive experience: Wonderful views from front of hotel. Lots of stairs in this Georgian style country hotel. Ideal for short stays. Trip Lane is not for faint hearted drivers. Generally faded around the edges but good for celebrations. Small but adequate spa.

Fantastic experience: A hidden gem. Wonderfully quite and an amazing luxury, romantic get away from the crowds one might find at larger luxury properties in York and Harrogate. Our new favourite in Yorkshire with an amazing breakfast, you will not regret coming here.

Fantastic experience: We attended a wedding here. The setting and ambience of the building is beautiful. Plenty of parking is available. All the staff are lovely and friendly. We also stayed the evening in a double room. The bed was extremely comfortable with numerous cushions and pillows. The room was extremely quiet and no banging of doors were heard when guests returned to their rooms. In this room a shower was in a high sided bath. After our breakfast we went on a walk around the local area. In reception there's information for the walks alongside the use of wellies if you need to borrow some. If we were to return then I'd really look forward to the stay.

Positive experience: Tiny . Disappointing facilities , however the girls that work there are incredible. Massage was amazing and the food was great .

Fantastic experience: Stopped by for a quick lunch, the food was delicious (chicken club and gingerbread hot chocolate), the receptionist Carrie was also covering taking food orders and really made the occasion special. She was diligent and polite and went out of her way to help us out. Will definitely be back!

Fantastic experience: Literally the best hotel! We got married here in October 2021, every visit prior to the wedding day was amazing, the wedding day couldn't have been better, the staff and ambience are perfect! Huge thank you also to Rachel for making each trip special. We returned last week where we were remembered and made to feel so welcome. The receptionist, bar staff each evening, and waiters and waitresses were friendly, happy and relaxed yet professional. I love this hotel and can't wait to return, would recommend it to everyone!

Fantastic experience: We've just had another great evening DJ'ing at Wood Hall. The staff were really helpful and welcoming as always. We have played here for a number of years with our DJ hire and the amazing staff never fail to impress.

Fantastic experience: Wood Hall is a very elegant venue with a long drive leading up to the entrance, I attended a Wedding where Ruth the Coordinator made sure everything went smoothly, the food was sumptuous and we were entertained by The Chris White Jazz Trio who added a touch of class

Fantastic experience: This was the 2nd time we have stayed at this hotel and are already planning our next visit. From the minute you arrive you feel special. The staff are so attentive, professional yet friendly. The hotel itself is beautiful, the setting incredible with fantastic views. We had a gorgeous room, overlooking the surrounding countryside. The pool and spa facilities are of excellent standard. Karen was extremely helpful, explaining were everything was and made the whole experience so relaxing. We enjoyed a delicious dinner and an equally lovely breakfast, again with staff being so friendly. The quality of the food is excellent. There is nothing about this hotel that is negative.

Everyone was charming, the allergies were dealt with properly, the food was incredible, especially considering the volume. I can not recommend enough.

Positive experience: We had alovely trip here, included a spa treatment. The food was very nice, limited evening meal choices, but we decided on the steak it was cooked perfect, the peppercorn sauce was delicious. Breakfast, there was a vast array of things to choose and was lovely, the spa was lovely the pool flooring was very slippery though, we enjoyed the jacuzzi was so relaxing. The treatments was nice. The spa lunch was lovely fresh, tasty and fully enjoyed. Thank you to all staff who attended to our care with you.

Fantastic experience: Can’t speak highly enough- hotel itself is stunning with amazing views. So peaceful, not even the sound of cars or traffic. Staff were all friendly, helpful and welcoming from main desk to breakfast to spa. Rooms were pristine and so clean, breakfast was great and the spa was lovely. Decor through the hotel and the rooms is exquisite. Will definitely revisit, 10/10.

Negative experience: Overall an OK venue. I spend 4 days a week in hotels and this one has next to zero connectivity with Wi-Fi for working. So while the staff are ok and the event itself was enjoyable I could not work or do anything outside of basic connectivity because of the poor infrastructure!

Positive experience: The hotel was well located, though down a tricky narrow country lane/drive. Breakfast was very nice as was the room. The accommodation we were allocated was located at the top of the building and not fully accessible by the lift. We needed to negotiate two narrow corridors and two more small flights of stairs. Some one less physical would really struggle. The room itself was fine, though had low covered hanging ceiling beams, where anyone above 175-180cm would be hitting their head. The window was small and 160cm off the floor, so. there was no direct view from the room. The bathroom/ensuite was dated and in need of an upgrade and or maintenance. it also had no ventilation

Positive experience: Absolutely stunning location. Truly peaceful and quiet. The view us uninterrupted and there's no noise pollution. Seating is inside or out. Plenty of parking on site. Staff are friendly and obliging. It could easily rate 5 stars but 1 star has to be deducted because internally it needs a lick of paint, new carpets and new furniture to bring it up to a more modern standard even if they do that from a traditional point of view. It is clean. It's just a bit tired looking. The location has so much potential. Either way I'd recommended a visit.

Positive experience: This is a lovely hotel and set in a very tranquil location. Lots of original features and well decorated. The room we were given was on the first floor, was very spacious and clean. On the downside, the bathroom was dated and could do with updating. Also the toilet did not flush properly so could be rather embarrassing. The bar area has a reasonable selection of beers and spirits, and the food in the evening and morning were good, however the young lady serving in the bar did seem somewhat easily distracted and meant a long wait at the bar while she chatted to other guests. At one point said guest actually pointed out we were waiting. Spa and pool are adequate and the staff were very attentive. Overall I would return and hopefully some upgrades will be carried out soon.

Positive experience: One of our favourite hotels in the handpicked hotels group. Rooms are well appointed, pool and spa attached, and restaurant charming. Set well out in the countryside but not far from Wetherby and a good base for exploring York and Yorkshire. Easily accessible from M1 & A1 .

Fantastic experience: Amazing place for a spa day and the afternoon tea was one of the best I've had. The hotel is a wonderful historical building with views for miles around so I may be tempted to book a weekend away there soon

Fantastic experience: Went to Wood Hall today for lunch with friends, and had a lovely meal. The staff were courteous and welcoming, and I wouldn't hesitate to go back again. However, one word of warning; I wanted to pay cash for the lunch, but they would not accept it; only card payments. I've found recently that this is a trend, and I don't like it.

Fantastic experience: Stayed here for one night. All staff, every single one that we encountered were extremely polite and helpful. The staff really made this stay this little bit extra special. The hotel is in lovely grounds and there is plenty of parking. The decor of the room we stayed in was in keeping with the house although a little tired. The food was very nice and we would definitely eat and stay here again.

Fantastic experience: Was here for a work related visit but everyone I spoke too had good things to say. It's quite out of the way and the road to it is one track with passing places.

Fantastic experience: Stayed 5 days and what joy it was. Fresh food cooked to order the restaurant is lovely to see table cloths, candles and flowers making it a true experience. The staff were so obliging and friendly. We had stayed here quite a few times I the past and being 3 years since we had been so nice to see some staff we knew who remembered us.

Positive experience: I came to Wood Hall as a stopover on a road trip with friends. It was my recommendation because I had been many moons ago. It didn’t disappoint. The service was really good from the moment we arrived, at the bar, over dinner and on checkout. The food was excellent and pretty good value. The rooms were well appointed and very comfortable. Fantastic experience: Perfect wedding venue. Staff are absolutely incredible, catering was fantastic and the atmosphere and area are astounding. Rooms are comfortable and large with a good selection of refreshments in them. Food and drink which is not included in the service however is quite pricey. I did not try the spa out in my two days here. Staff catered to your every need in a friendly manner.

Fantastic experience: Went to wedding their and stayed overnight for the celebration. One of the best places we have stayed in.

Positive experience: I stayed here with my family in the lead up to my wedding (not at this venue). The approach to the hotel is stunning with views into a lush valley and the hotel looks stunning covered in ivy. The hotel staff were friendly but the hotel itself was disappointing on the inside. It was the kind of place where all of the paintings on the walls were a bit skew - everything a bit disappointing from the decor to the food to the spa. The staff were friendly and accommodating but the problems such as hot food being served cold, and no lift for the huge number of bags suits and dresses we had made the stay a bit meh.

Fantastic experience: Great hotel. Food was amazing. The salmon on the tasting menu is epic. Great wine choice, the Albarino was amazing. Staff were lovely and the rooms very comfy. One thing though, watch out for the speed bump as you leave the village for the lane. It is unmarked. Other than that, enjoy..

Fantastic experience: We stayed here for one night last week to have a little midweek break. The hotel is a fabulous old Manor House and the grounds and local area are perfect for long walks. We took our pet Labrador with us as it looked a great base for long walks through the countryside - the receptionist gave us a couple of suggestions that included a great pub to stop off at half way round! The room we had was clean and well maintained. We didn’t get a chance to use the Spa as didn’t want to leave our dog by herself, but it looked relaxing and were gutted we missed out on that. They set up a table in the drawing room for us to have breakfast, which was lovely - the waiter Richard was really friendly and very helpful, he also suggested another long walk we could try before heading home. Overall a great place to get away in the peaceful countryside with spectacular views down to the river Wharfe, all the team we met were very attentive and gave plenty of fuss to our lab, thoroughly recommend it!

Negative experience: Disappointing stay for a special occasion. The website states their current covid procedures include staff continuing to wear face masks, the reason we had chosen Wood Hall, but sadly this is not the case. The house and grounds are excellently maintained but the food and the service was very poor and not worthy of the prices they are charging. Service charge is also automatically added to each transaction.

Fantastic experience: Attended for a Wedding reception. The staff were experienced, hard working, friendly and fantastic, can't praise them enough. The venue is a beautiful setting for a wedding reception and the bride & groom couldn't have picked a better place. I was lucky enough to view one of the rooms, which was spacious, clean, tidy and plush. Would definitely highly recommend this hotel & spa.

Fantastic experience: Wow. We have just had the most amazing stay at Wood Hall. Our stay was a gift as result of a competition for NHS staff. It was such a delightful treat and rest! The staff were friendly, personable and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The food and drinks were absolutely delicious, breakfast was especially wonderful and the option to have it delivered to our room was so lovely! The room it's self was difficult to leave, we had a deluxe room, the bed and linens were so comfortable, the air con and lounge chairs were also very nice touches. Excellent selection of complimentary drinks in the room and books which was a very nice touch. Honestly anything you needed they had and the quality of everything was evident. The spa was also very nice. Lovely pool and jacuzzi, the changing rooms were communal which wasn't our preference but it was okay, towels and toiletries were available which made it very convenient. There was also water, tea and coffee available which we enjoyed. I had a massage and gel polish on my toes, my beauty therapist was very good, and friendly. I really enjoyed my treatments. We had such a lovely stay and would. Highly recommended this hotel for an anniversary or honeymoon the grounds and hotel are so lovely you could quite easily spend 3 days just in the hotel and grounds. All in all we would like to say a big thank you to all the staff for giving us such a lovely stay!

Fantastic experience: Booked this hotel a year ago for my daughters wedding,we stayed for 2 nights and everything was fantastic.The drive up to the hotel is very impressive,the grounds are very well kept.The staff are polite,friendly and efficient.The actual wedding planning was faultless,especially during the uncertain covid times,we were kept up to date every step of the way.The wedding planner Lauren Angove was excellent and didnt seem to mind answering any questions no matter how daft or trivial they may have seemed.The day itself was perfect,blistering hot 22/07/21 but the staff made sure everything ran smoothly.The wedding breakfast was superb and served by attentive waiters/waitresses.If you are planning a wedding i would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

Positive experience: Took the Romantic Retreat Package which included Taster Menu Evening meal and breakfast in bed. The package also included a bottle of Pink Champagne and some "Hand Made Chocolates" in the room upon arrival - This was a disappointment (and why 4 stars not 5) as the chocolates were just a box of ferraro rocher with no explanation or apology (as if we might not notice!) Aside from this, the venue was perfect, the food impeccable and the service attentive My wife had a combo massage/facial treatment in the Spa and was very happy with it.

Negative experience: Booked a spa day/ treatment/ afternoon tea for £200.00. Confirmation received but no contact re treatments until we rang them. So we were told one of you is booked in at 10.15 and the other at 3.30. How many if us want to swim after a treatment. The lady could offer us nothing to fit in with a relaxing morning & afternoon tea that day or any other - so we cancelled ( I just wonder when they would have let us know we were booked in for a 10.15 treatment because I can guarantee we wouldn’t have been there that early. Thanks for spoiling what was a treat after a rough few weeks We have used Wood Hall before but won’t be bothering again. Customer service appalling. Disappointed, upset and angry

Negative experience: Come on Chris, your service needs to improve. £5.00 for a 330ml Peroni is very much top end, which in a lovely location is possibly worth it, but one expects top end service to go with it. Being brought two bottles without glasses and then one of the glasses bing dirty is bad service by any standard. And then to levy a £1.00 service charge is really taking the Micky. FYI - We are locals checking out the venue for when our guests arrive later in the month. Allan.

Fantastic experience: Excellent gym and swimming pool facilities maintained to a great standard! The staff are always welcoming.
