Positive experience: It's a decent gym in great location. The choice of machines is a bit on the less side, but there's plenty of floor area and the classes offered always seem to have plenty of people taking them. Other gym-goers tend to be on the more "friendly" side of things, rather than unapproachable.

Positive experience: Needs more equipment. The fact that there is only one pec fly is absolutely terrible. It’s undoubtedly the most used machine and yet only one of them exists. It also desperately needs an extra cable machine as well as another bench / incline bench. However the gym is clean and doesn’t look rundown (as yet). Decent amount of squat racks (6 spaces), and leg machines. The glute trainer needs fixing as the handle to easily get in and out of it has been broken for a few months, but its still useable just awkward.

The gym is always impeccably clean and well-maintained, which makes for a welcoming workout environment. Fantastic experience: Most gyms, even from this affiliate name are dirty constantly, with lazy passive aggressive staff and tired old equipment. The gym Southampton Portswood contrasts significantly. All the equipment is great quality and new, the gym is regularly maintained and the staff are incredibly friendly. Best gym I’ve been to, unless you need speciality equipment, like a strongman etc.

The equipment is always readily available and clean, the atmosphere is great, there is a great mix of people and most importantly the staff are incredible especially.. Debbie the General Manager, her team are exceptional and that’s down to her meticulous work, where she insists on high standards and customer service. Always offering advice on fitness and supporting the clients on their own personal journey. Highly recommend

Negative experience: Well, isn't the Gym Group just the gift that keeps on giving? Paid for a 3-day membership only to discover that apparently, time travel is a prerequisite – dates available for next week only! How convenient! And when I attempted to salvage my Sunday afternoon with a 1-day pass, the code provided didn't work, and the QR code on the app didn't work either. Bravo, Gym Group, for turning me into a modern-day statue, standing outside like an absolute plum. Oh, and bonus points for the lack of staff and a telephone number to call – truly, customer service at its finest! Can't wait to spend more quality time and money at this fine establishment. Not. Will be expecting a full refund first thing Monday morning.

Positive experience: It's clean but way too small for how many people it serves. It's busy no matter what time I'm there. Between 4-8 pm, it's an absolute circus. Moving around the free-weight/bench section can be borderline dangerous because everything is so close together.

Positive experience: The gym is always clean and all the equipment is almost always functional. The gym is very busy almost every day, even on the weekends, but there's nothing that they can do about it. The gym is relatively small and there are no other gyms in the area, although the layout could be a bit better, the free weights area is only a very small portion of the gym. The Gym staff are also very friendly, I once had problems getting in, but the manager solved the issue quickly. I just have one issue with the Thursday evening classes, the music is very loud almost feels like a club. I've been to 5 different gym group gyms, including all the ones in Southampton, but none have classes with music this loud. I could even hear the music through my active noise-cancelling earbuds. Being autistic this clash of noises can be overwhelming. I did try and talk to the instructor taking the class (I think he is called Issac), and asked him if he could turn the music down by a bit, I also explained to him my condition but he was a bit curt and refused to turn down the music at all. I get that the class was meant to pump everyone up hence the music, but I don't think it was unreasonable to ask to turn the music down by a bit just to the point I couldn't hear it through my headphones. I don't think the classes should come at the expense of everyone else at the gym. But all in all, it's a good gym just a bit busy.

Negative experience: Cramped. Way too busy with teenage meatheads who like to stand around and chat while using their phone at the same time. They don't care and will complain if you try to use the machine while they rest for 6 min... The place is a joke The equipment, and facilities itself is like any other gym group gym it's more than acceptable. The people that come.hwre make the experience awful.

Fantastic experience: I joined the gym 2 weeks ago, had my face to face induction with Leah, who was very articulate and eased me into the set up. She helped me try a few machines, informed me about available classes to meet my needs. Attended her own class and later met Meg and Vicky in their classes and they were wonderful as well. Not to mention fellow gym goers who are helpful. It’s a really welcoming and adaptable environment for the first time gym goer like myself and it has made it easy for me to go back.
