Negative experience: Today I was cornered by the male member of staff who accused me of using the wrong door he wouldn’t let me leave his proximity and tried to intimidate me and then kept saying are you okay? Over and over until my mum came over. This was a deeply traumatic and saddening incident and not the first I’ve had at the gym group .The gyms are seemingly all male dominated and the staff are misogynistic.

Fantastic experience: Decent gym, open 247. Staff members spot on and always helpfull. And finally got 50kg dumbells in after waiting for 2years. Was up to 40kg which is not enough
Fantastic experience: Can’t really go wrong, large clean gym with plenty of equipment for all people at different stages of fitness. Friendly staff who are a laugh and the membership ridiculously cheap, especially considering the price hike other local gyms have done post covid. There’s a lad employed here with a mullet(I don’t judge) , happy as Larry wondering around making sure everyone’s alright and chatting away. Would definitely recommend.
Fantastic experience: I can only say how great the gym is. I've been training for 20 years and have been in every kind of gym you can imagine, and this is one of the better ones I have been to. The review which complains about the gym being closed for weeks on end is a little bizarre, as they are literally closed for a few days spread throughout the year, which is a small price to pay to keep the 24hour facility clean and well maintained. Ben and the rest of the team are helpful and friendly, the gym is always clean, and there's a great range of equipment, and members of all shapes / sizes and abilities which means it feels very welcoming.
Negative experience: My experience at The Gym Newark has been consistently disappointing. The hygiene is abysmal, with the facility being perpetually filthy and the showers seemingly never in working order. The temperature control is a nightmare, swinging between freezing cold in winter and unbearably warm in summer. To make matters worse, the gym is frequently closed for repairs, leaving members without access for weeks on end. The state of the equipment is another letdown, with broken machines becoming a frustratingly common occurrence. Overall, it's a far cry from a reliable and well-maintained fitness facility.

Fantastic experience: Returning to the gym after a very long hiatus. It remains clean, friendly, well kept and organised. There's plenty of facilities such as water, showers and toilets as well as a wide selection of gym equipment. I cannot fault it.

Positive experience: Cant complain about anything when considering how affordable the service is. The only issue is the fact that some of the toilets seem to always be out of order.

Negative experience: It used to be a very nice place to go and train, with enough equipment to satisfy your workout needs. But at the start of this year it all went down hill. A lot of teenagers and youth coming in and messing around hindering everybody's workouts. Lots of people that don't belong in a gym and have no idea how to train, that are just in the way. Nowadays it is so busy, that the gym is at capacity most of the time. Do not recommend....

Positive experience: Over all its not a bad gym,but,not enough foresight was used when trying to maximise the floor space so in turn there is a lack of certain equipment,(Calp Machines,Spinning Bikes)

Fantastic experience: The Gym Group Newark have a fantastic team that make you feel welcome and comfortable like a home away from home. Joining the gym was never going to be an easy task for me but when I went in a year and a half ago to have a look around and a chat I was greeted by a very kind manager. Through my time there I’ve met some incredible people. I have a PT that has changed my life both physically and mentally. The team there is so friendly and upbeat without being intimidating to people new to or nervous about working out. The clientele are great too. Everyone respects each other. Most keep to themselves but the ones who do interact are absolutely lovely. I’ve gone from hating every minute of exercise to loving my workouts because of where I do it.

Negative experience: Poor gym, I use this company from 2010 the gym in Peterborough, Nottingham but the Newark site makes me sick! I've never seen such a small gym and from 6am to 9pm always very busy I CAN'T get a good workout always have to wait for free equipment if you would like use toilets Lol better take empty bottle! who had idea put together toilet and shower in one room?When someone take shower you need waintg 20-30 min to use toilet OMG!

Negative experience: I’ve been a member of the gym group for around a year now. I train with the wonderful PT Shelley who is incredible. She has changed my life is so many ways and is so brilliant at what she does - a true professional. In the last few months the gym itself has definitely gone down hill. There seems to be lots of what can only be described as teenagers in there messing around. Often it’s so busy it is hard to use equipment and there are people in places they shouldn’t be, doing stuff they shouldn’t be and it just seems to go on. It is like quantity has become more important than quality and that is a real shame. There’s a total air of un professionalism too which I’ve witnessed. It’s a real shame as when I first joined it was a nice gym with professional people who wanted to train. Now I’m afraid to say it resembles a youth club. I stay at the gym group Newark because I absolutely love Shelley and my training. If she wasn’t there, I’d look for a different gym which is quite sad.
