Negative experience: Genuinely the worst gym I have EVER been to in my life. Equipment is extremely old, gym poorly maintained and very dark and dingy. Examples of poorly maintained gym include the fact that the black rubber mat they have on the floor is lifting in places and had large bumps. Equipment right next to fire exit meaning it’s a safety risk which I will be escalating. 4 mats in at the back of the gym with two ab cruncher machines (for what?). Staff are not very welcoming at all. Only one scanner to enter the gym too, which means there might be a queue to get in. For the amount they charge, they should invest the money into refurbishing the gym (i.e buy new equipment like mats and workout benches even machines, find an easier way of signing in and invest in barbell loading devices and proper benches) and bringing it into the modern day. No one gives a heck about anything being independent or family run. I want a clean , NICE gym to work out at that I feel is good value for money. Gyms like Pure Gym and The Gym Group are cheaper but for the same price would allow you access to multiple gyms and not charge an exorbitant joining fee either. Please go to any other gym like Bannatyne or Ab Salute which are definitely more in the modern day era than this nasty old place.

Fantastic experience: I initially didn't have a good start to joining the gym, as found some machinery to be faulty and in a bad way*, but the gym has grown on me. My two daughters and I go regularly and it is the only place locally that I know of that allows 13 years plus (other gyms are minimum 16 years old). Secondly, the team are great and friendly. I never find anything but warm welcomes and friendly conversations from them. For me it is the culture of the staff that won my daughters and I over. Perhaps next time I will be a little less trigger happy with the review and give a business a chance. Lesson learnt. *P.s. I have been told that new machinery is on order which will probably be replaced in stages as understandably it costs a fortune.

Positive experience: Overall the place would take a five star review, but the locker room area could be a little better, including the showers. Sometimes there can be a crowd of teenagers surrounding the machines and taking a long time to release them while watching on their cell phones. The staff is friendly and keeps the place clean and tidy. So far it seems to be the best gym I've found in Braintree.

Positive experience: Been going to this gym for few years, on and off, but whilst im happy they have opened up to teenagers, I really wish staff would keep an eye better, most are fine, but some literally just sit on the equipment on phones. It's really busy now, and this just makes it worse.

Fantastic experience: By far the most welcoming gym I've been to anywhere. Staff are fantastic and the members are great too, not much ego about which you can have at other gyms. You've got loads of classes to choose from that cater to people of all abilities. So if you're looking to join a gym give CHF a chance.

Fantastic experience: I have been with this amazing gym for 5 years now and it is honestly the best value gym membership going. The class timetable is extensive, the staff friendly and helpful and the whole place really feels like a community. Too many people won’t join a gym through feeling self conscious but there is something here to make everyone feel welcome and at home. I cannot praise CHF gym enough, if you are new to Braintree, give this place a go, no long term contracts either so nothing to lose!

I walked into Chf and was instantly greeted, made to feel at ease and I have never looked back since, great classes all diff and fun, large gym, ladies only gym, shower rooms awesome, chill out area, awesome friendly Pt instructors and lovely members, whom are always smiling. Hand on heart, I love this place, now like my second home.

Fantastic experience: I'd never been to a gym before but the staff made me feel extremely comfortable , the classes are great and they were excellent with a personal situation with my partner. They have loads of equipment and are an all round friendly good gym. Cannot reccomend it enough.

Positive experience: I really enjoy this gym it is just a bit busy at times and I like the yoga classes. There is only one I can attend a week because of work so a bit of a shame. Trainers are positive and really encouraging :-)

Prices very reasonable and they have the best boxing practice and training kit in the region. Lots of classes and trainers each with specific disciplines. Brilliant. Joining was the best decision I ever made. I've got fit, learned to box and made a load of friends.

Fantastic experience: Family run gym, with the extra family run touch. The nicest, good vibes hun I’ve ever been too and felt so comfortable in. They go above and beyond with EVERYTHING they do and for all. One little example is, I was raising money for a charity sky dive and they joined in, in a raffle of some of there merchandise and put this towards the skydive. Many other things to mention too many really! They are a great gym and without them lots of us would be lost :) THANK YOU CHF <3

And always there if you need anything. The classes are Varied and there is something for everybody The instructors Are absolutely brilliant And put so much work into each class.they are a lot off fun and hard. I have made so many friends there .it's like one big family and they are there for us in good times and bad .chf help us so much in lockdown with online zoom classes and chats . So if you are thinking of joining a gym this is the one.

Fantastic experience: This is honestly the best gym I have ever joined. A huge selection of free weights and a wide range of classes designed to cater for every ability. There is even a ladies only studio. The staff are knowledgeable,friendly and supportive always available should you need advice. Plus in these difficult times I feel confident with the covid measures that are in place to keep us all safe.

Chf have kept me sane during lockdown, with an extensive online program, and regular contact. Chf gym love what they do, and that shows in the quality of their efforts towards their customers. Chf gym is a business that should be commended, for their efforts towards their customers, the quality of their staff, the quality, and quantity of their equipment, and class timetable. This all adds up to a lot of happy customers, and a great place to train. I genuinely could not recommend them any more. I'm not a family member, or a member of staff, I'm just an extremely satisfied customer.

Fantastic experience: CHF isn’t just a gym. The staff and members make you feel welcome and part of a fitness family. The gym is well equipped and a great range of classes. I love the fact there’s a women only area too. CHF care about their members and provided great zoom sessions during the lockdowns. This gym beats any of the major large franchise gyms.

Fantastic experience: Great Weightlifting Gym. Touch of 'Spit and Sawdust' to it with Rock music blaring, well used machines and dumbells with the numbers well worn but it has loads of machines, loads of free weights and really friendly staff.

Negative experience: Turned up to to look around and was told to come back the next day as they were closing. Safe to say I didn't!

Positive experience: One of the best gyms in the area for strenght training or cardio if it comes to equipment. However plates are always mess, few put their weights away and often paper towel dispensers are empty. There is now water fauntain available so be prepered unless you wanat to pay for bottled
