Fantastic experience: Absolutely recommend this gym! As a person who’s always been quite anxious about gyms (so I’ve never really trained before), Spartan has been really welcoming and everybody’s very friendly. The coaching is always top tier and they’ve always helped me feel like I’m able to improve myself. The gym is big, spacious and filled with a big variety of well maintained and clean facilities and equipment.

We are very fortunate indeed to have a gym of this calibre in the north east.

I was terrified of gyms and last year did my very first powerlifting meet and loved every second of it! The support is unreal. Fantastic experience: I joined in august for the 28 day trial and I really enjoyed it. The coaches helped me with everything that I needed to know. So once my trial was over the obvious thing to do was join properly. It’s an excellent place to train and the coaches are there to keep you right. Fantastic experience: I’ve trained in many gyms around the northeast but Spartan is by far the best. No expense spared on top equipment. Unbelievably dedicated staff who’ll go above and beyond to help you. Friendliest gym users I’ve ever met. Ask anyone for help and they’ll oblige with a smile on their face.

Fantastic experience: Been a member of Spartan performance since it’s first incarnation 12 years ago. During that time I have seen solid investment in equipment, staff training and premises. All of this investment has lead to a facility comparable to a full professional sports teams set up (according to my ex All Black friend who has trained here) Then the general atmosphere is fantastic with everyone friendly and helpful from staff to fellow trainers.

Fantastic experience: You won’t find better anywhere in my opinion. Coaches are amazing and have a wealth of varied tried and tested knowledge of their chosen area. From strength to gymnastics and from world class athletes to the person looking to gain health benefits it delivers 100%. All staff are very approachable and will also assist whenever needed. The members are fab too. A very friendly and supportive atmosphere. Programming designed for the individual accounting for any health issues or injuries. Wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Fantastic experience: I've been a member @ Spartan Performance since the very first facility opened back in 2009...safe to say I am more or less part of the furniture now! And there's a reason why I have not left to train out of or even consider trialing another gym in the area. The kit is second to none, well varied (from bodybuilding to CrossFit, powerlifting to strongman), all the kit available is of the highest quality from well established, industry recognised brands. The constant reinvestment to new kit and new services provided is also a huge benefit you get from being a member @ Spartan. The staff are constantly sharpening their skills, again, upgrading the service and knowledge they can provide to the members. Fantastic experience: A welcoming and friendly gym, which caters for all abilities. The coaches are very approachable. There is always a nice atmosphere. There is also infa red sauna , physiotherapy on site. There is also a meal prep service . What more do you want from a gym . Come along and give it a go , you won't regret it.

Everyone is pulling in the same direction working on their goals. This is a place without judgement of anyones shape, size, strength or fitness. Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend this gym enough, it caters for everyone from people who have never stepped foot into a gym up to professional athletes. The support from all of the staff is fantastic, they are extremely approachable, supportive and are always willing to help. The coaching on offer is excellent, whether to learn new techniques, perfect technique or just to give you an extra push. Also the equipment in the gym is some of the best there is and they are constantly investing in new, quality equipment to improve what is already a fantastic gym. On top of all this, the atmosphere at Spartan is something else, the encouragement and welcome you recieve from not only the staff but from other members is unlike anywhere I've trained before.

Fantastic experience: I've been training at Spartan now for almost a year and can hand on heart say this is the best gym I've ever joined (there have been a few over the years). The atmosphere is welcoming, the equipment top of the range, other gym members are friendly and encouraging and the staff are amazing and so knowledgeable! They have been with me every step of the way, encouraging, understanding and always have the best advice. In my 15 years of using gyms all over the world while I have been travelling and competing Spartan is by far the best I’ve used and been a member of. Fantastic experience: World class training facility and top knot coaches. I've trained in lots of gyms but none come close to Spartan. The equipment is the best there is and the coaches really know their stuff. Jack (the owner) is constantly re-investing in both and it shows. Whether you're a professional athlete trying to find an edge over your competitors or someone just starting out on their fitness journey you will find what you need here. Surprisingly, the best feature at Spartan is probably the atmosphere, it really is a community. Everyone there is friendly and welcoming (members and coaches alike). You're not just a number here, from your very first visit you are greeted by name by one of the coaches and they get to know every member, taking a keen interest in you and your progress. If all of that's not enough they also have top notch physio and meal prep services on-site so it really is a one-stop-shop for everything you need.

Fantastic experience: I would recommend Spartan to anyone! I joined in April 2021 as a complete newbie to strength training. Any apprehension I had about joining a new gym and trying a new style of training was resolved before the end of the first session. The coaches are fantastic, true professionals, experts in their field and just all round lovely people. The facilities are amazing and only topped by the wonderful welcoming atmosphere created by the coaches and fellow members alike. Jack’s programming combined with Laura, Jack and Alice’s coaching has been fundamental in helping me meet my health goals and, as a diabetic, achieve optimum blood glucose control. Highly enjoyable and educational classes (included in all memberships!), consistent support from the coaches and top class equipment. There are no compromises at Spartan Performance yet the community feel is a big part of what brings me back each time. Meeting people from all walks of life trying to better themselves physically and mentally, regardless of your goal or what level you are, is the perfect environment to train. The coaches and the facility are or the highest standard and are constantly striving to improve both their knowledge and gym equipment to stay at the peak of a constantly progressing industry. Fantastic experience: Some of the best gym work I’ve done in a long time! The program I was given was simple and allowed me to format it in my own way. It is however the best program I’ve been given by a trainer since playing semi-pro sports and the change I’ve seen in the short time I’ve been working with Jack Lovett (Spartan) and Tom Duffy & Seong Joon-Lee (Activate Physiotherapy) has been immense! Thank you very much for boosting my confidence again!
