Our comment from FitFit UK about Everlast Gyms:

Everlast Gyms in Dunstable is a spacious fitness center known for its variety of workout options, including a good selection of cardio machines, free weights, and group fitness classes. The gym also features a lovely pool and steam room, making it a popular choice for those seeking relaxation after a workout. Many users appreciate the friendliness of the staff, who are often noted for their helpfulness and welcoming nature.

However, several areas of the gym require urgent attention. Many users have reported that the equipment is outdated and often in disrepair, with numerous complaints about the cleanliness of the facilities, particularly in the men's showers and changing rooms. Reports of unkempt locker rooms, dirty steam rooms, and broken showers have been common. There are also concerns over hygiene and maintenance, with some customers expressing frustration over the accumulation of grime and the overall neglected state of the gym.

Despite these shortcomings, Everlast Gyms remains a viable option for fitness enthusiasts looking for an affordable facility with a range of services. Users have pointed out that with proper maintenance and updates to the equipment, the gym could drastically improve and better serve its loyal members. Overall, if you're looking for a gym with a supportive community and decent facilities, Everlast Gyms could be a good choice, as long as you're comfortable with its current state.

Everlast Gyms: Opinions

Negative experience: Not all staff at reception speak English, be careful

Bijoux Mbayo 3 weeks ago

Positive experience: My local gym which also has spa suite including a pool and steam room.

A H 1 month ago

Negative experience: For the price it needs a lot of improvement. The cheaper gyms offer much better equipment, atmosphere. Mens showers are not that clean and dirty, the gym floor could do with more updated machines as there are rips and tears on the benches. The floor is also not even on the weight section. Definitely more free benches is needed, as they only have 4-5. Staff dont care about complaints made via online. Glad I left!

Negative experience: Very run down, steam room is beyond dirty. Pool & showers dirty. Was a member for over 10 years but sad to see it in the state it has become.

Lewis 1 month ago

Negative experience: Been training here since it was JJB gyms. Finally decided to leave after continuous broken promises about a refit (waiting 5+ years now), broken equipment that takes weeks/months to be fixed (50kg dumbbells haven’t been replaced for atleast 4 years now). The final straw was the absolute state of the changing rooms, pants/shoes/t-shirts just left on the floor, lockers left wide open, just a mess. And the current crowd in this place… seems as though they’ve gone down to the local colleges in Luton and given them a cheap deal, because the place is full of children, all of whom congregate around one piece of equipment talking and on their phones, and then just leave the weights on the floor. And unfortunately for every other member in the gym there are certain individuals that forget about personal hygiene… basically they stink the place out! All the decent staff have since left. Still the same manager, who just does what head office asks. Nice enough guy, but doesn’t understand what the members actually want. There are plenty other gyms around the area which are much better (eg Houghton Regis). But if you’re happy to train somewhere that is old and outdated, overrun by Luton children, with broken equipment, then this is the place for you.

Sam Wiseman 1 month ago

Negative experience: Went for a swim and a steam - pool was way too hot and the steam room was broken without any sign to even indicate as such. General level of grime around the changing rooms and pool area really suggested of better days.

Ricardo Gomes 1 month ago

Positive experience: Downgraded quality over the years. Wearing and tearing on the machines for months which owners seem to acknowledge but not fix. Often crowded and a few very noisy costumers laughing really loud which bothers other people. The locker rooms are often with wet floor because there is no control by staff from people that use the pool and get into the locker room soaking wet. Broken tiles on the showers which is a risk. Often broken shower cubicles. Staff has not showed up to open the gym in the morning sometimes. It used to be the best gym, not so much now.

Aut Umn (AutumnSmile) 2 months ago

Negative experience: Well located gym and pool with free parking. Shame it’s so grubby and unkept - particularly the showers and changing rooms. There has been chewing gum stuck on the poolside tiles for months and lots of limescale buildup. I often find hair in the showers but recently lots of satsuma peel! Luckily the staff are very friendly and obliging. It needs a serious cleaning and maintenance overall/rota for hygiene at the very least…

Fantastic experience: Staff are so friendly - gorgeous pool, great equipment. By far my favourite gym I’ve been to, would recommend.

Negative experience: Nice spacious gym and staff are very friendly.sadly it hasn't been updated for a long long time.a lot of equipment is way past it's best. The changing rooms could do with a makeover. Showers although have new plumbing and cubicles just look filthy. The pool is lovely and I enjoy a daily steam but that also looks grubby breaks down a lot and if it wasn't for using olbas oils would smell. Has potential to be a great gym but needs a makeover.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic GYM in Luton

Joe Watson 4 months ago

Negative experience: By far the worst gym in Dunstable. I froze my membership and had confirmation of this via email, yet I was told that it wasnt frozen and I had ‘missed a payment’. I was told I had to give a month notice to cancel so had to reluctantly pay for September, I received no confirmation of this but assumed this would be sent when the cancellation took place. Then I get charged for October… I tried to get this amended in branch and they told me I had no proof. I asked them to check the data from the scanner showing I hadnt used the gym in 2 months but it ‘doesnt work’ so they dont know who is using their gym at any point… sure this isnt a safety issue. Their customer service is shocking and they are more willing to lose a loyal customer of 12 months then refund £30. Wouldnt recommend this gym to my worst enemy.

EJ M 4 months ago

Positive experience: Has the equipment but changing facilities are in quite poor condition.

Dave Gurr 8 months ago

Positive experience: Good selection of machines and free weights. Could do with a few more of the popular lower weights tho. Most customers put weights back, which is very welcome! Showers are clean but need a lot of minor things fixing.

Fantastic experience: It was fantastic

N M 9 months ago

Negative experience: Unfortunately the minimum the system would allow is a 1 star as I would have not given that 1. Nothing worse than walking into a gym after returning from being away from fitness for whatever reason, you want to better yourself then the staff acting like you don't belong on top of the people already in there staring and looking at you like you also don't belong. Will never go to everlast again. Walked straight back out again.

Fantastic experience: Everlast Gym is a well-equipped fitness center offering a variety of workout options, including cardio machines, free weights, resistance training, and group fitness classes. The gym is spacious, allowing for a comfortable workout experience without feeling too crowded. The staff is friendly and helpful, always available to assist with equipment or answer questions. However, some areas could use improvement. A few machines often require maintenance, which can be frustrating, especially during peak hours. Cleanliness is another aspect that varies—while the main workout areas are generally well-kept, locker rooms and showers could be better maintained. On the plus side, the gym provides good value for the price, with membership options that cater to different budgets. The atmosphere is welcoming, making it suitable for both beginners and experienced gym-goers. Group classes are a great addition, offering variety and motivation for those who prefer structured workouts. Overall, Everlast Gym is a solid choice for fitness enthusiasts looking for an affordable and well-equipped gym. If they improve equipment maintenance and cleanliness, it would be even better. Despite minor drawbacks, it remains a reliable place to train and stay fit.

SONY LIFESGOOD 1 year ago

Negative experience: Absolute rubbish gym, disgusting not clean and mould in the showers. Staff are miserable - cant wait for my membership to cancel as they wont cancel it! Go elsewhere!

Karolina Mikolajczak 1 year ago

Negative experience: After over 2.5 years, I decided to cancel my membership, which was on a 1-month student contract. I pay via direct debit. However, I was surprised to discover today that I have arrears from August and September of last year, amounting to £8 and £32. I am confused as to how this could have happened, especially since my membership fee has been deducted from my bank account every month without issue. It seems there is significant mismanagement, and I would not recommend this gym. There are certainly better and more professional gyms in the area.

Negative experience: Where do I begin? What an awful experience! I visited Everlast Gym in Dunstable using a free pass, and I genuinely wish I hadn't wasted my time. I’m now considering asking for a refund. This gym is absolutely dreadful. The equipment looks like it’s straight out of the 1980s, and the showers and steam room appear not to have been cleaned since then, judging by the mould buildup. How can a gym promoting healthy lifestyles expect patrons to shower in such squalor? The entire facility is filthy and poorly maintained. Locker doors are missing, the lockers themselves are dirty, the toilets are foul, and the seats in the changing rooms are ripped. The steam room was the worst part. I was shocked to see mouldy walls and seats, even through the murky blue light that’s clearly meant to disguise the filth. It was disgusting....Nasty I didn’t even dare to use the swimming pool—it just didn’t feel safe and i wasn' brave enough. Perhaps Mr. Magoo is running this place. Frankly, this gym should come with a health and safety warning. Charging £40 for this rundown facility is outrageous. What exactly are your customers paying for? Get out of here...Close and refurbish now!. This place unacceptable in every way.

Bogdan Popa 1 year ago

Negative experience: So after a few years nothing changes there, same old and ‘not working’ equipments, same old showers without doors (men’s showers) and limescale everywhere, same dirty steam room, you name it…but I still pay £40 per month. The stars it is just for a nice and friendly staff… definitely a no for next year

Fantastic experience: Very clean place and people are very friendly out there

D I 1 year ago

Positive experience: Men’s changing rooms need to be maintained properly. The seating area has rips in all the seats. The showers could be decent and are covered in lime scale and need to be regularly descaled. The sauna has been out of order and was told it will be fixed tomorrow. Also during peak times you’ll be lucky to find a machine. The swimming pool is good and decent and spacious. Overall it’s decent but needs to be maintained properly.

Positive experience: Update: Nothing has really changed in this gym since my initial review, the gym equipment is really starting to show its age. Update: spa's / hot tubs have now been removed from the swimming area. Simming area has been given a minor face lift Nice, Clean, Friendly helpful staff. Nice gym, but a bit expensive in my area, about £10 - £20 per month more than all the other areas. The pool area and steam room could do with a face lift, but still functional. There only ever appears to be one hot tub working at any time.

Fantastic experience: Really like it here. Staff are great too!

Riyadh Zenith 1 year ago

Negative experience: Got kicked out of the swimming pool for doing nothing, by the way the swimming pool reaches up to my waist, and considering you're paying £40 a month it's ludicrous. Despite what other reviews say the staff were appalling. I went to leave the gym and the receptionist literally said "Thank you, please don't come back" This gym is actually horrible for the price, There are so much better alternatives like puregym or JD gyms which are cheaper and MUCH better. Not coming here again, not worth the time or money.

Fantastic experience: Great gym with great people.

Dean Blunt 1 year ago

Negative experience: Awful gym. Trained at this gym over 10 years ago when I was at Dunstable college and not much has been updated since then. Everything very old and outdated. They have these mini refurbishments every few years but nothing really gets changed. Steam room seems to always be closed for some reason. Used to have hot tubs but have been covered up. Gym price had actually gone up since then too. Basically the main issue with the gym is cleanliness and everything being super old and outdated. They have 3 cleaning stations and not one of them had paper towels/blue roll to clean down machines after use. I will say the staff are always great, very friendly but unfortunately the gym is just not good at all.

BP 1892 1 year ago

Negative experience: I saw the advert online where they offer a three day pass for free and I my intention was to start going there on a daily basis if I like it. I went in yesterday and I showed them the email. The guy on the reception was clearly not aware of that and it made me feel like I’m making it up which was a bit rude and that was a big red flag. After speaking with him for 5 minutes he let me in without giving me a pass or anything to track my three visits and the whole situation was awkward and unpleasant. The gym equipment is horrendous, most of the machines have the rubber ripped which is ludicrous paying 50 quid and to get that in return. The worst gym in the Bedfordshire area

Moin Ahmed (Jakir Ahmed) 1 year ago

Fantastic experience: Nice

Wasif Riaz 1 year ago

Positive experience: Gym is small, usually quite busy between 6 to 9 pm. Gym equipment is usually hard to find in busy hours. It has fixed hours but much more expensive than gymgroup, puregym and jd gyms. You cannot use studio except for training in group classes. Overall not value for money will probably not continue my contract once it matures

Lewis Draper 2 years ago

Positive experience: Excellent gym, excellent changing rooms and all round a good place to get into shape.

Ajay Miah 2 years ago

Negative experience: Steam room is always out of order, the equipment is terrible. Especially the stair master, previously went to JD Gyms, joined this gym because of the steam room and pool - didn’t think the £40 a month was bad compared to the £25 a paid at JD Gyms. Would much rather pay £25 a month at JD Gym which has FAR BETTER hygiene . The steam room, well when it is open (which is NEVER) is just full of spit all over the floor. The pool is not deep enough to swim as someone who is 6’2. The stair master machines are not manufactured properly, kept banging my knees on the tray where the towel and water bottle is kept. JD Gyms is a half the price and the equipment and hygiene is A WHOLE LOT BETTER Would give this a 0 star if I could the only plus is that the staff are lovely. However I don’t go to the gym for the staff I go there for the equipment and pool, which are terrible

connor parent 2 years ago

Negative experience: Ive been going here on and off since it was previously JD, sadly I think it is consistently going down hill. Pros: - only steam room in the local area - pool is a reasonable size - equipment is ok Cons: - hygiene, I don’t actually think this is the staffs fault. I know many people stopping going into the pool and steam room as many people are spitting and hacking their guts up in the steam room, they’ve also placed “do not shave” signs by the pool and steam room as people have been doing so. On top of this, hygiene in the showers is feral, I have no idea what people do in them but it most of the shelves or soap dispensers have been ripped off and the sounds people make, people need to visit a doctor about the amount you can hack up and spit. - equipment life, the kit is good, however could do with some repairs - often hard to use equipment at peak times

Fantastic experience: I have been to several other gyms in Dunstable but this one is my favourite. The changing rooms and lockers etc are the nicest in any gym I've been, and are always clean. The staff are always friendly and welcoming. LOVE the pilates class with Gemma. Good range of classes, only thing is they don't do any late classes at weekends (last one is at 11.30).

Negative experience: Hi I have been a Member of this Gym for last 7 years and I am really disappointed by the service recently especially the steam room which Is regularly out of order and not functioning properly, also I am currently on a 12 Month contract till May but unfortunately had to Freeze Membership from this month due to my Financial circumstances and sadly they have refused to cancel my Membership even though i have explained to them over again on Phone and by Email that I simply can't afford to pay for this Membership anymore due to the cost of living crisis and i am appalled by the way I have been treated, I feel this is unfair and they should take into due consideration my Financial Situation and cancel my Membership. I feel slightly depressed due to my Financial Situation but they have not offered to support me in anyway, I would definitely not recommend paying £40 each month on 12 month contract as it is a total waste of time and Money. I feel am being treated unfairly even though I have been a Member for many years now, I also have Credit Card debts but they are not willing to understand still.

Positive experience: Gym itself is nice & clean, Ac works, pool is fine but they lack gym equipment/machines. Poor selection compared to other gyms, in busy times you might struggle to find free equipment so if you came here solely to do weights you might want to find other gym considering their high price

Emily Bradshaw 2 years ago

Positive experience: I do like this gym however wasn’t sure whether to give it a 3 or 4 for a couple of reasons. Firstly, I think they really do need to work on the cleaning of the gym! You can see it’s not kept clean very well. secondly, unless you want your stuff to be stolen or risk it being stolen you have to buy your own lock for a locker which is a bit of a joke seeing as in this is already double the price of local gyms. Also, on my return to this gym I was rather gutted to see it does not have a jaccuzzi anymore so I feel like they should lower the price because of this. However, after saying all of that!……for me, it is the best one for me in close proximity of where I live as it has a nice big pool, steam room and spacious gym. It is a nice place to go given the other options. Really need to work on cleaning though!

Fantastic experience: Honestly, I don't really know why everyone is putting Everlast Dunstable down. Yes it is not new, or has new equipment, in need of a refresh, maybe this may take a year or 2, who knows? Fraser group are refurbishing quite a few Everlast gyms, I am quite sure they wouldn't leave out Dunstable, due to it's £40 high tier membership. It's got all of the equipment you need, yes older... but all you need to do a full workout and a lot of great equipment, especially the concept rowers etc. The showers do not have locks on the doors, but is this really something to rate it 1 star for? We should be really grateful that we even have such facilities when other poorer countries would be SO thankful to even have a working shower, let alone the facilities and classes and equipment this gym offers. Yes, it is nothing like JD gyms in luton, and obviously it's cheaper (their pricing) but Everlast is still great. It's not a new gym, so expect things to be different, the receptionists and the whole team are aware of the older equipment, they are doing their best at what they have. Some don't want to workout with people filming their every set/being around influencers setting up tripods all the time, those gyms serve different purposes. Everlast is old school, very much bodybuilding type style, just for serious workouts, then go home. I think the team are really great, they are doing the best they can and for £40 I think it serves its purpose in Dunstable.

Negative experience: How useless they trying to be . I left my card home when I go gym 2 staff (Aron and Tyra) couldn't find my membership account on their system in 30 minutes. they tell me you need to show us proof , I show them my direct debit payment to the gym but still they didn't understand I have a membership account. I just left my card home , to lazy to help people. anyway customer shouldn't find out this, you should find out , that's why you are there., customer can give you details like home address, email address, phone number or what you need to find out the rest. wasting my time for 30 minutes just because of unprofessional staff

Meerkat T 2 years ago

Negative experience: Well… for the price one pays per month - £45 a month, one would expect a lot better service and environment to train in. Paying an extra £5 a month for a locker, which lets face it, anyone can and does use, as locks always left on lockers! Changing rooms are spacious and plenty of room (hence the TWO star rating) However, the shower area/ showers are really poor and way below standard of what one pays per month. I would expect this from a budget gym, but not this! Showers are falling apart and left to hang off the walls, and some work and others don’t. No locks on the doors. I did like the pool area, but rarely use the area to comment anymore, the same with the yoga aspect. The parking on the retail park is also a MAJOR problem! I won’t be renewing my membership.

The gym and equipment looked a bit dirty, the staff member, wasn't really sure what he was saying. They he went to show me the swimming pool and he walked in the area without the shoes protection. Zen/yoga room was the only thing that attracted me.

Negative experience: If you are a class instructor looking for cover, DO NOT COVER here!! You will not be paid for your work!! I walked pass back in April, and asked to join the cover list, they took me in right away, with my insurance, no induction of checking my certificates to cover some classes, month after month, email after email, I haven't been paid, to be told there was a pay roll error!! Never shower here because it's too dirty, the toilets are disgusting, and been for years. They need to change the system and add new toilets, you need to flush 3 times just for some paper to go. Considering the price you pay, cleanness shouldn't be a problem, but it is.

The sauna its working 1 or 2 week per month since they opened, this month the sauna was out of order entire month and today they closed all the pool area. Are 2 spa tubs, one of them its not working for more than a year and i don’t see any good change but the price its bigger now even if u can’t use all the facilities. I wanted to change the gym but the only gym with a sauna is in MK. Hoping for a good change in the future.

Negative experience: First time back at the gym since March 2020 and I was disappointed with all the changes. The water fountain has been removed, which means you either have to buy a bottle of water on site or bring your own. The cafe won't be returning. Not only does this mean coffee and snacks aren't available but the social aspect with somewhere to relax after a workout to chat with other gym goers, has been taken away. A few rowing machines have been put where the tables and chairs used to be. A padlock is required for the lockers. The gym itself hasn't changed too much. There are less treadmills and cross trainers available due to distancing rules. There are sprays, paper towels and wet wipes available for wiping down everything you touch before or after using something. I didn't check out the showers or swimming pool area. My main disappointment is that none of the changes have been mentioned on the website for the Dunstable site. If I had known in advance, then I would have bought a padlock and taken my own water. When looking at the website specific to Dunstable, none of the PTs are listed either. Considering they pay rent to work at the gym, you'd think the company now running Everlast DW Fitness first, would list the PTs with their qualifications and specialist skills. So, overall, it was a disappointing return to the gym and seeing things removed/changed without any announcement, notice or information on their website.

Negative experience: Absolutely tiny gym, if you go at peak times all the machines are in use. The pool is nice but so small.

Positive experience: Considering how much membership costs I would have expected more up-to-date machines. Positive experience: I returned to the gym when it reopened with my wife. The staff welcomed us back and checked our temperatures. I was impressed with how equipment was spaced for safety and the cleaning stations to allow you to clean the equipment before and after you use it. The staff are relentlessly cleaning equipment. There were regular announcements asking members for safety reasons to clean equipment after use but sadly there are quite a number of members who think the rules do not apply to them and I have seen some people use as many as 6 pieces of equipment without ever cleaning any of it. I have mentioned it to the manager and other staff on at least 3 occasions but nothing seems to be done about it. Management action sadly lacking. Why should these people put me, my wife and other members at risk when the management will not tackle this problem.

Negative experience: Dirty changing rooms, spa pool surround broken, steam room benches filthy. Poor communication when I tried to cancel. As an older woman member felt awkward and unwelcome here.

Negative experience: Poor cleanliness - parents of children taking swimming lessons wearing shoes on poolside. Disgusting. Spreading dirt throughout the showers both male and female and to their own children. Yuk What is wrong with some people?

Fantastic experience: Just become a member and I have to say this gym is incredible value for money. It has a large gym space with all the cardio, free weights and functional kit you need. There's also a good sized pool with a steam room and spa. Everytime I've entered the building I'm welcomed by friendly staff who are always happy to help.

Positive experience: Lots of gym equipment to get the job done but there seems to be an increasing trend of wannabe boxers grunting with every limp swing they put into the bags. This is incredibly distracting and they should consider moving the boxing bags elsewhere. Then again... Dunstable is a bit of a dump and perhaps this is just the clientele that a gym in Dunstable attracts.

Negative experience: Very poor maintenance. Toilets are in disgraceful order every single time... the same applies to the shower facilities. Steam room needs general refurbishment. Steam room instead of providing health benefits appears to be a main source of bacteria spread. It is too old. Most staff members are useless but not all of them. Shame as its the only gym with the swimming pool in the area at the moment. It is a shame to leave a bad review but nothing has changed for years... the gym is now looking good but all the above is below expectations

Negative experience: nice gym but there is issues, i was trying to ask a member of staff a question but i did not know that some PT's can wear their own clothes or being on their personnel phones whilst training a paying customer. reception staff always friendly, there is one that is always smiling and can always have a bit of banter with. not sure of the name but a good person. All in all the gym is always tidy but some pt's need to concentrate on their clients rather than their phones or each other!

Negative experience: Poor maintenance of equipment, need to tell them to load paper rolls almost every time, BUT the real problem is in the management. I emailed the manager Teri (for Teresa probably?) to express my concerns backed up with facts and I got no responce at all. Very dissapinted from . On top of this, they even increased the membershp cost by 10%, for no logical reason. Looking forward to the new gym opening date.

Negative experience: I have signed up for DW fitness for 6 months. They don’t cancel it and renew the contract so make sure you cancelled. They are still charging me for 2 months even though I have cancelled it. No notifications and no email from DW about payment unless you check yourself. So also make sure you chekc your bank transfers and not getting charged . I would never signed up again!!!
