DSQ Fitness Club: Opinions

The Girls That Walk 2 weeks ago

Fantastic experience: I’ve trained in a lot of gyms over the years, but this one stands out for all the right reasons. It’s well run, well equipped, and thoughtfully laid out, with new equipment that actually makes training better. It never feels overcrowded, and the atmosphere is respectful and welcoming, it’s the kind of place where people train hard but still look out for each other. What really sets it apart, though, is the community and the staff. There’s a genuine sense of belonging here that’s rare to find, and it’s why this gym feels like a second home. It’s a place that supports consistency, progress, and enjoyment - and that’s exactly what a great gym should do.

Alice Ravelli 2 weeks ago

Fantastic experience: This is my local gym and I genuinely love it. The new layout is great, the space feels well organized, and it’s never overly busy (which is always a plus!) Everyone is lovely: respectful, shares equipment, and the overall vibe is really positive and empowering. The staff are honestly a huge part of why this gym works so well: super helpful, knowledgeable, and just fun to be around! They actually care, push you to do better, and make training feel motivating rather than intimidating. Couldn’t ask for a better place to train.

Michele e Chiara 2 weeks ago

Fantastic experience: Training here has honestly changed what I expect from a gym. The space is set up so well with the new layout, it never feels chaotic or overcrowded, and the general vibe is respectful: people share equipment, focus on their sessions, and actually enjoy being there. The range of services and classes is solid and well thought out, but what really stands out is the support from the team. Dan and Rebecca in particular go above and beyond: always approachable, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in helping you improve. They know when to push, when to encourage, and they make the whole experience feel motivating rather than intimidating. It’s more than just a gym, it’s a place that makes you want to train better and keep coming back.

Fantastic experience: The staff at the club are welcoming and friendly making it a nice place to be. The changing rooms are spacious and clean with great showers. I feel like my belongings are safe with the new lockers. The new gym floor has great equipment and is kept tidy by the staff. The juice bar offers a great range of shakes and macro friendly snacks for after your workout too! I am always grateful for the helpful and friendly staff here. :)

Negative experience: If I could give this minus 1 I would. I have been very unwell with Bipolar 1 for a long time, including long spells of hospitalisation and so was unable to go to the gym. I asked them to credit me one years’ membership and they refused. So much for giving a damn about customer service / duty of care / people with chronic mental illness. Told I should have informed them. Was not in a position to do this. I was horribly ill. I am hoping they will reconsider. Do they really care about anything except their terms and conditions? I sent them my medical notes.

Fantastic experience: New to the area, recently became a member. Absolute gem of an establishment & great value: gym exceptional, juice bar, cafe, work space, squash courts, showers, fitness classes with membership. Last but certainly not least, the staff are brilliant: informative, thorough and personable - Daniel Carter in particular has been great through my onboarding process & helping with various issues such as losing my gloves! Swimming pool + sauna to come in the summer!

Fantastic experience: Such a beautiful gym! I really like the new renovations they have done ! All the staff are extremely helpful and whenever I call them, they are extremely accommodating ! I had one issue and management sorted this issue for me straight away, I couldn’t ask for shifter management. Overall, I would definitely recommend and just look forward to the pool and spa opening !

Negative experience: Poorly managed gym. They have refurbished it nicely, but need to bring management up to standard. Spin bikes in class are always broken, the air conditioning doesn’t work during spin so people overheat. Booking classes in their app doesn’t work properly. You need to bring your own towel to shower, there isn’t even a rental option. When wanting to do PT, management was unhelpful. It’s just not up to par with normal London gyms in the area, although it looks nice now.

Fantastic experience: Very strong improvement of the facilities in the recent months. Yes, there is still some room for improvement but the progress is outstanding

Negative experience: Extremely disappointing! Staff aren't welcoming at all. Only busy to train theirs clients and taking all the gym's space. You don't feel comfortable to train. Really annoying. The membership is actually 50 pounds and it will increase for 30 pounds because finally there will be some lockers and changing rooms So 80 pounds total

Positive experience: Not entirely happy! Just recently joined as it was my local gym on and thought for £490 for a years membership its not bad. Sadly today i attended for Dance fit and there was no class despite receiving an email saying it was on the instructor arrived surprised to see there was taekwondo kids on despite the instructor having that studio booked, apparently a time table change but no member or instructor has been notified. Wasted Friday evening. Apart from this i really enjoyed Sweat with Farida!

Katherine Vl 8 months ago

Negative experience: I am extremely disappointed by the misaligned messages from the staff on when the facilities will be ready after never ending renovation. Prices increased and swimming pool, changing rooms etc are not ready yet. Management does no longer reply to email. Classes are always full for people that work full time jobs. Locked in a year contract where value does not meet offering. I recommend you are given written down specifics on facilities termination before signing up.

Positive experience: 99£ joining fee is just ridiculous ! for what exactly no any gym charges joining fee anymore so for that reason after visiting this small gym i decided not to sign up

Negative experience: ** Jan '25 update: unfortunately the recent hike in prices has left many members feeling like they're being robbed. My monthly rolling membership will increase from £51 to £69 as of Feb '25, a 35% increase. Given the service has actually worsened, there are no changing rooms, the toilet is external to the facility, the pool/sauna/steam room/tennis courts are still not ready despite the refurbishment having started in 2021, the increase is unacceptable & many long-standing members have decided to leave the club for other better options nearby. I'm considering leaving also, despite the fact that I've been coming to DSQ for about 6 years ** I've been coming to DSQ fitness club for a few years. Before the ongoing refurb started, I really loved coming to the Yoga classes (especially Leticia's Yin Yoga ones), to the swimming pool/sauna/steam room, and to the gym for PT sessions. I used to buy the guest passes in bulk, as the membership wasn't convenient for me. I also used to often use the Hammam Spa, which was just an amazing place to really decompress. Since the refurb started, I've now started being a member & I mainly come for Yoga (Leticia, Federica, Sahara, Antonia), Pilates (Violetta), PT sessions (Karen). I also sometimes do Yogalates (Angee), when schedule allows. Sal, the manager, is cool & normally on top of things. I really like the instructors - so I will keep coming. The new booking system is pretty glitchy, and comms re the refurb are non-existent. Defo something that could be improved. It would be such an improvement also if the lights in the Yoga studios could be changed to enable them to be dimmed. I can't wait for the pool, steam room and sauna to be open again. I'm aware that the Hammam Spa won't re-open, which is a real shame - it was a gem of a place, with a lovely team. I've spent far too much money there!! All in all, pretty happy customer.

Fantastic experience: This fitness club is amazing !! Has a variety of classes / gym is great with new machines . I left and came back ( husband paid for my membership) so I thought why not ! I can honestly say the instructors are really lovely and friendly , always happy to answer any questions . They are all different too . My fav has to be Farida , so positive and I don’t know where she gets the energy from , so motivating and pushes us to our limits but makes the classes fun . I highly recommend this gym and her classes Zara

Negative experience: My experience of this place is really mixed. The manager is one of the rudest men I've ever had the misfortune to interact with. He was bullying and even a threatening on one occasion. Just goes to show that poor leadership has a big impact on a place. Shame because it could be a great place!

Negative experience: Rude and unprofessional. I called to find out about what was going to happen to my memebership when covid started and wasn't told anything other than I wasn't going to be charged for when the gym wasn't open and had nothing to worry about. The gym never called me to ask me if wanted to rejoin when they reopened. Yet the manager Brian was speaking to me in a condescending tone when I called to renew my membership, saying he wanted to charge me a cancellation fee or he would refer me to a debt collector! With so many nice gyms around London these guys need to work on their customer service.

Mael Le Pouesard 4 years ago

Negative experience: Good facilities and instructors but terrible customer service and unethical contract policies. I signed up for a 6 month fixed contract and ended up paying for for 7 months as they have a notice period. Even if you've completed the contract, it rolls over automatically unless you give a months notice. I explained my situation to Brian, the Deputy Club Manager, and said I was moving away suddenly and did not have time to give notice. He refused to refund it, even after weeks of emailing trying to explain that I would be paying for a service I wouldn't receive. Apparently, a notice period on a fixed term contract seems normal to them and they could not see anything wrong with charging me for an extra month!

Rita Belghiti 4 years ago

Negative experience: DO NOT suscribe at this gym. I have been disappointed by my recent experience there. Highly unprofessional behaviour and no customer service for existing customers once you sign up. DSQ gym Allows you to book a tennis court (which is really difficult to book due to limited slots and many customers) then being kicked out of the said evening tennis slot by security with no apology, nothing, just because according to security ‘it’s too dark outside’ - nb: the same slot is still available for booking weekly for the following week, prompting me to question why are we allowed to book slots that we are being thrown out from. I am a paying customer and I am being kicked out of a tennis court in an extremely impolite manner with no reason whatsoever and after sending an email the same evening to resolve the issue and waiting a few days for reply, I am being ignored by DSQ gym on the matter. Overpriced gym for what you actually get, no do not expect to be treated fairly. Do not expect to actually be worth the money you are investing into it.

GoWithTheWind 4 years ago

Fantastic experience: I am a local resident of Pimlico and recently joined DSQ Gym as it is literally 'down the road'. I will never look back at my decision to join. The gym is very spacious, with a great variety of equipment and facilities. I personally alternate swimming with gym throughout the week. The gym is never overcrowded, has all of the equipment you can think of and there are neatly laid out collections of various weights. The ventilation/air conditioning system is effective so it never feels stuffy or hot, with good air quality throughout. There is blue mood lighting which gives it a cool atmosphere. The gym never seems to get overcrowded either. The gym currently operates a strict Covid-19 protocol which is adhered to by both staff and pretty much all customers. The gym is overall clean to very clean, and there is no lack of sanitising products and tissues throughout. The gym operates an online booking system, and you are currently required to book your session(s) in advance. This suits me, as I tend to plan the week ahead and I don't therefore stress about getting that preferred slot of yours. If you want to visit at short notice, you may find slots available when another person has cancelled, so keep checking. I got some 'popular' slots at short notice many times. Some sports are more popular than others, and slots tend to go fast. This includes yoga classes and squash, but often also popular after-work swimming slots. Talking of which, the swimming pool is great and very clean. I love going there. The gym limits pool capacity to 8 people at any time, so you will have a lane or half a lane to yourself. Last but not least, the DSQ Gym staff are lovely, really engaging and professional. They will happily answer any questions and also give you health tips along the way. I would highly recommend this gym if you are living in the Pimlico area and/or willing to travel there. It is walking distance from Pimlico tube. Update 19 July 2021 following gov. lifting of restrictions, you can now just turn up for your workout, but the gym sent this through regarding bookings for certain sports: "The booking system will remain for the following areas: Swimming pool (12 people permitted per booking slot - 1-hour sessions each) Group Fitness Classes (now with increased capacity – Spin Studio = 20, Studio 1 = 22, Holistic Studio = 12) Squash and Tennis"

Vibha Sidaya 4 years ago

Negative experience: Very very disappointed by this gym, especially their customer services. The facilities are ok but the staff is anything but helpful, and certainly not professional. Just a simple task as booking a class or getting a timetable right was made very complicated. I was a member for the pool and classes, but you can definitely find somewhere better in the area.

Jonathan Eyal 4 years ago

Fantastic experience: Excellent facilities and super friendly staff. Reasonable fees

Sally Kershaw 5 years ago

Negative experience: Really nice gym facilities and great instructors, but the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I ended up paying for 7 months of membership but due to the lockdown closures I could only access the gym for 6 of those months. When I requested a refund for the final month, Brian, the Deputy Club Manager refused to refund it. I spent weeks emailing him trying to explain that I had paid for a service I hadn't received, but even after involving Johnny, the Club Manager, I still got no refund. Apparently neither of them could see anything wrong with charging me for an extra month! I finally have a refund, only because I got my bank involved. Do not sign up to this gym, the good facilities are not worth the poor management and customer service.

Negative experience: I’m really disappointed, I had an accident and the hospital gave me a report by doctors saying I can’t do any kind of activities or carry a 5k weight and I’ve informed the gym receptionist, sent an email to the management but seemed like all what they care about was charging me £75.00 even though they know I didn’t attend to the gym for almost two weeks since the accident in med September and they charged me for October as well then I tried to contact the manager by sending him few email but he never reply to any of them!! This is absolutely ridiculous and unprofessional you can’t treat customers like that.

Negative experience: This place is a total rip off! WORST customer experience ever! Don’t join the club and go somewhere for professional customer services! My experience is just terrible. I wanted to cancel my membership when the contract ended so I called in to consult. The staff said he would cancel it over the phone but in reality, they didn’t process it. Now they are saying they don’t accept verbal cancellation and don’t admit it at all. I was and will be charged extra two month membership fee. This is so deceiving. I even suspect it’s their strategy to make money during pandemic. This is how they treated their members. Shame on DSQ.

Positive experience: I would love to give a 5 star review but I'm giving only 3. Most of the staff members are friendly but there are few who are extremely rude. Also sometimes some sauna/steam room users go into the pool without taking a shower, this need to be look at. I have seen people chucking water in the sauna heater ,so, it should have some sort of message saying it's electric and it's dangerous to throw water in there. Most hotel guest have no pool or sauna etiquette, so please have some guide line or like a 'user manual'.

Linda Whittle 7 years ago

Positive experience: This is a nice gym, but it's busy and it's expensive. It's almost impossible to get into the pool sometimes, and on the weekends you have swimming instructors positively BELLOWING the place down in an echoing pool space yelling at kids how to learn to swim, which is not exactly the formula for a relaxing dip. Had to cancel my membership as mostly like to swim and can't always be sure I will enjoy it.

Negative experience: Unfortunately I’ve had a similarly poor experience with the rude and unfriendly front deck staff. I booked a class on ClassPass and planned my entire day so I could leave work early to attend - I was so eager to get back to working out after the holidays. They refused to honor my paid and confirmed booking, making lots of excuses and absolutely no effort to help with the situation. Just a rude and dismissive attitude. I even asked if I could pay to attend the class - and was willing despite the exorbitant £25 fee (which is much higher than the other gyms in the area, even the much nicer ones) but they didn’t accept AmEx and I had no other payment option (since I have never in >2 years of using class pass had this happen to me). I would advise looking elsewhere for a friendlier, more customer-oriented gym.

Negative experience: I have been a member for just over a year now and I have to say it’s one of the worst experiences I think I have ever had. (And, yes, I am cancelling my membership) The class timetables are very badly organised as some classes do not even have 5 minutes between them so you end up starting your class late allowing the previous class to finish. The gym itself is okay - pretty outdated - and is incredibly busy between 5:00pm - 8:00pm on weeknights. I, of course, appreciate that this cannot be helped due to this being the peak time and the hotel guests having access but it is sometimes impossible to use certain equipment so I end up giving up after not too long. I have found some staff to be really nice - whilst others are on another spectrum of rude. I have just experienced a very rude staff member in a class which, out of principle, I will NEVER attend again! I have never been made to feel so small. I am more than disappointed as it is so expensive compared to other gyms. I have previously been a member at Bannatynes and genuinely couldn’t recommend them enough. Be warned if you want to join - if you like overcrowded gyms and rude staff then please go ahead.

Negative experience: I've been a member here for years because the gym has a good selection of equipment and machines, plus there are squash courts. Sadly, it's gone downhill over the past 18 months with simple things to get right: - The showers are often dirty, flooded, broken or out of shampoo/ shower gel. - The equipment is ageing and it points to a lack of maintenance over time. - The staff on reception are pretty unwelcoming (not even acknowledging a hello on the way in).

wild doggo 7 years ago

Positive experience: Overall, a good "fitness club". It is being refurbed in 2020 to make it bigger, so quit your whining. They have answered your calls. This gym is infinitely better than the Queen Mother one on Vauxhall Bridge Road, and the Pure Gym by Victoria. The gym - plenty machines and free weights. It does get busy during busy periods as would be expected. Some new very expensive cycle machines have just been introduced - the "watt" bike. It's accurate and helps with your workout and improving fitness, more so than the blue ones they had. Also fairly clean; I have seen machines being cleaned by staff. I also clean them myself and there are towels to protect you from the germs resident in the gym. Ample treadmills if you enjoy that sort of torture, along with 4 or 5 rowers, and lots of cross trainers. Lots of barbells too. The pool - again, busy at busy periods, but there are plenty times in the day when it is not busy at all. I have sometimes been the only one in the pool. When busy not such a pleasant experience as you are perpetually zigzagging between other swimmers. Sometimes, there are also too many children swimming in their designated lane which is fine, its just that they enjoy shrieking, so not really a pleasant environment for adults, unless you have built a thick skin of tolerance and patience, which I have not. At least they aren't allowed in the steam room. Steam room has a weird towel hanging from the ceiling which they should fix. I can't imagine it is very hygienic. It is steamy though which cleanses the lungs from the previous night's debauchery. The grassed area by the squash courts - I love the prowler but sometimes find that during busy periods, the yogis, spinners, and bum toners spill out and are totally unaware that they are about to be prowled out of the way. Changing rooms and lockers - lockers on the blink. Lots of them do not work; I think their batteries need changing. You just have to be quick in getting one that does open and close. All of them actually need a good blast with bleach. Changing rooms fairly spacious. The issue of little Amadeus and Leopold shrieking and using the changing rooms as a playground is probably confined to the female changing rooms. If I wanted to hear children shrieking I would go to a playground. Badly behaved children are bad, but their parents are worse. They should keep an emergency prowler in there. Showers - good and modern. Generally clean and not messy i.e. towels not left around and empty bottles of shower gel disposed of. A few of them don't lock. The gym provides shower gel, and shampoo and conditioner in containers attached to the walls, but some are breaking/broken. I would never venture to use these as who knows what is in them, but in principle they should be working. The water is not chlorinated which is good and are powerful with good pressure. Personal trainers - it seems like most if not all the PTs are really very good at what they do. They always seem engaged and interacting with their clients. Gym etiquette - Generally good and people are polite. Sometimes notice individuals hogging gym equipment whilst on social media, and not lifting. Please take your time-wasting addiction to the lounge, where I do not have to witness it and become irate.

Z Z 7 years ago

Negative experience: I would have given them a -5 star if there's that option. First of all, the gym receptionists are rude, arrogant and patronizing. The gym facilities are fairly outdated, lockers jam on their own on a daily basis, and I'm pretty sure everyone that go there knows about this. So, I have to go to the reception and get help, instead of being helpful. All I got was attitude filled responses like, 'Do you even know how to use the lockers? *with an eye roll*'. The changing room is fairly dirty, towel every, damp and 8 out of 10 showers have some sort broken parts (broken locks, broke shower head, flies infested) that's been unfixed for months. The gym membership claims that there's free towel service and it has been fine for months since I joined. However, today I got told by a receptionist that I will have to pay an extra fee for using more than two of the towels that they provide on the reception desk. OUT OF NOWHERE! It was not written on the terms and conditions, nor specified by the staff when they handed me the contract to sign for the gym membership. So it feels like it's just some made up rules that they're using to patronize me while I AM THE PAYING CUSTOMER! So overall, I highly would not recommend this place to anyone who's looking into joining. Since you won't be getting the customer service nor gym experience that you should expect for the price of the membership.

S S 7 years ago

Negative experience: Not transparent at all with fees. Told one thing and then after joining you find variances to what you were told (eg in terms of what is included in the price etc). It's not written down anywhere so you get the feeling they are making it up to get you to join. Why don't they just publish the prices and deals on the internet. Some staff members are very rude and not friendly at all. Over crowded.

Carmel Brown 7 years ago

Negative experience: The worst customer service, staff so quick to charge you guest fee without the need to naturally upsell what the club has to offer. Clearly there's some sort of pocketing of the guest fees going on as I was asked cash would be the best method of payment. Rude staff who run ar the back when you need to speak to them. Will definitely be not going back there.

Very nice and calm atmosphere for most of the time. unhappy as the children over 12 years old cannot stay longer than little children which I think is unfair to them as there are kids that want just swim the way adults do. Overall, good local gym and spa.

Dear Gabriela.

Thank you for your feedback - glad to hear you enjoyed the classes and other club facilities!

We do operate strict child swimming times, applied to minors below the age of 16, which I believe you are referring to. I have noted your comments and will take this on board. Should you wish to discuss further, please do contact me directly at [email protected]

Many Thanks,

Negative experience: Good selection of classes; however, it is normally packed after work hours so you might have to wait or change your exercise regime. The swimming pool tends to be very busy and the worse thing is that I keep seeing people handing out leaflets outside Pimlico station to join the gym; do they not have a maximum number of people? they should think about the comfort of the current gym members.

Negative experience: Very old equipment and very dirty studio, crowded swimming pool. It is shame as it is so close to me and is within my car parking permit Zone. I will consider to join only if it gets a total refrub, won't mind to pay over £100 per month. As my old club of 6 years Chelsea Club is £180 per month and is too far away in SW6

Positive experience: It's a good gym. It has good facilities and a nice pool. I only wish there was cell phone reception in the gym.

Positive experience: Nice gym but quite small for what it's worth. There a pool, sauna, steam room and a few more fitness ammeneties you'd for the price you pay. Don't expect top notch gym etiquette here though.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely love this place. Staff are extremely friendly, they've been helpful ever since I joined two years ago, and when I re-joined earlier this year. The facilities are of great quality and varied: gym, swimming pool, sauna, steam room, tennis courts, squash courts, etc... The gym isn't the biggest ever but if you know when to go it won't be an issue. The pool is clean and the temperature is just right, and the club offer free towels upon every visit. I go there regularly and it's definitely worth every penny!.

Negative experience: Been a member of the gym for over 1 year and a half, and a tenant as well, but when i had an issue and tried to speak with the person in charge at the time, Muzahid. I had to wait three days, waiting to be called, leaving my phone number going everyday to check if there was any news. I had to fill an official complain before being recontacted. By email, and without any professionality, or explanation. Definitely not deserving the price they ask every month.

Negative experience: This gym needs refurbishment. I am a member and the price you pay monthly is a rip off as I'm paying for the service I ain't receiving for that money. They need to get themselves together. • Gym is so dirty you need to use antibacterial wipes on each machine as you don't know when the cleaner last cleaned it. • The equipment are so old, they need to update. It's ridiculous how for the that money, that they are ripping off from people they can't afford new equipment despite having a chain of flats. • Cockroaches in the locker room. That just shows how good the cleaner works. • Children always invading the swimming pool area despite the swimming pool is not big. Makes the area for the adults whilst kids having lessons very small and packed with everybody trying to swim. • Staff are useless. They don't know how to work. Very unprofessional. Despite hearing so many complaints whilst walking past reception, seem the staff don't care. • They keep closing the gym 15-20 minutes earlier than they should. We pay and we can use the gym till closing time as stated on the website. This is misleading. Staff seem to love to send the members home earlier than it should be. If that's the case don't work where you don't like it. So I do hope after this review you'll understand how serious the case of your gym is. With those pinpoints customers should be paying not even £20 a month. We don't get the service we get when we are paying over £70. Gym is disgusting and I'll be definitely freezing my member and go somewhere where they'll actually care about us. My advise start refurbishing.

Negative experience: Swimming pool often a disaster - too many hotel guests want to mess around whilst members are trying to swim. Only 4 lanes and often 1 is closed for lessons and 1 for kids... therefore 2 lanes for adults.. often 6-7 zigzagging between one another - stressful not relaxing!

Positive experience: A decent gym with free towels, decent enough changing rooms, a good number classes and squash courts. The pool is too small for the number of users and the swimming classes are very expensive. Overall a reasonably decent gym with a nice number of martial arts and keep fit classes.
