Our comment from FitFit UK about Everlast Gyms - Bristol Imperial:
Everlast Gyms - Bristol Imperial offers a decent gym experience with a range of facilities, though it has room for improvement. Members appreciate the friendly and knowledgeable staff, who are always available to assist. The gym features a good variety of equipment, a clean swimming pool, and a steam room, making it an attractive option for fitness enthusiasts.
However, there are several concerns raised by users that potential members should consider:
- Equipment Maintenance: Many gym-goers have noted that equipment is often broken and takes a long time to be repaired.
- High Crowds: The gym tends to be overcrowded, especially during peak hours, making it difficult to access machines.
- Customer Service Issues: Some members have expressed dissatisfaction with the customer service, particularly regarding contract cancellations and communication issues.
- Lack of Facilities: Both the steam room and jacuzzi have frequently been reported out of order, and the pool scheduling often impedes regular swimming sessions.
Despite these drawbacks, many users highlight the affordability of the gym compared to other options in the area, and they appreciate the positive atmosphere and variety of fitness classes available. In summary, while Everlast Gyms - Bristol Imperial has great potential, it is in need of investment and maintenance upgrades to enhance the overall member experience.

Everlast Gyms - Bristol Imperial: Opinions
Negative experience: I have cancelled my membership, i called in march to cancel (we moved house so couldn’t get to this gym) and the member of staff i spoke to said that i have to continue to pay until the end of my membership agreement which i sed thats fine my membership ended in october payments have continued to be taken out of mine and my husbands accounts i have since spoken on the phone, through email and in person to understand why money is still being taken out of our accounts and we have been told that we haven’t cancelled our memberships which we were not told when we signed up nor did we get told when i called in march that we had to cancel we got told it was a 12 month membership not a roll over membership
Negative experience: Decided to leave the gym after a few good years. Since the brand changed they haven't upgraded any of the equipment. If one of the pieces of equipment breaks down, it usually takes months to get it fixed. Finally, I complained about the level of poor music that the play, due to extreme loudness, but was informed that the level of noise was approved by the area manager. Haven't received the details to put the complaint in. Do not recommend it.
Positive experience: Needs investment, some equipment is worn out, lots of lockers broken as are towel hooks in shower area. Took over a year to repair a poolside shower!! And both the Jacuzzis have been removed. The sister facility in Filton is better managed. Update Nov 25.....Steamr room is brokendown again with no fix date .
Negative experience: I signed up in person to this gym back on 14/08, for a year contract £30 every month. I actually had a gym session after signing up and realised it isn’t quite what I was after and upon reading the contract, you get 14 day cooling period. So I had emailed 15/08 to say I wasn’t interested and would like a refund of £30 I had paid on the day as well as a cancellation of the year contract. I had then got told the £30 I paid on the day was NOT towards the first months payment and was actually a one-one PT which I had not enquired or requested so was falsely advertised. Following multiple phone calls and another 3 emails - I was then told on 28/08 “As a gesture of goodwill we can offset your September payment as an alternative for the move product purchased. Furthermore to this, we will issue you 2 additional months free of charge for October an November for any inconvenience caused.” After I had asked for a refund and a cancellation of my subscription…. I explained I’m not interested, I’m entitled to a refund and a cancellation of my membership. I was then told the same day “I will pass this on to the relevant department who will be in contact within 5-10 business working days for confirmation with your request.” I followed up on 11/09 - to say the timeframe had passed and I would like an update I chased again on 19/09 - still no update I chased again on 26/98 - what a surprise, still no update. I chased again on 07/10 - no update I chased again on 23/10 - still no update - hence my complaint. It has been 11 weeks since I had asked for a refund and a cancellation of my membership, and I was told I would receive this within 5-10 working days… Ridiculous customer service - PUREGYM would never.
Fantastic experience: Been a member for many years when they were called DW Gym, they were understanding during lockdown when gym use wasn’t been used by myself and cancelled my subscription. I ended up signing back up a few years later. £30 for use on gym and swimming is great value, free parking for up to 4 hours, ok I get that they removed the jacuzzi, but still, you get the steam room. But overall great value, staff are always professional and greet you when you come and go.
Negative experience: Genuinely worst gym I’ve been to, it’s small, always busy, always something broken and a very male driven space. Not to mention they lock you in contractually which is just a scam in itself and that always highlights how terrible a gym is.
Positive experience: Honestly its just okay. Small gym with limited equipment and space. Nothing stands out but its not bad
Negative experience: Rude new staff member at front desk (beard and glasses). Put me off a membership
Negative experience: I visited yesterday evening Friday 25th. I wanted to see if it’s good enough for me and my son to join but the staff at the reception were very rude. Not just that I’m not going to join but they lost my friend’s membership as well. Never go there again even as a guest.
Positive experience: Gym is good for the money but people shave in the steam room which despite being raised to staff, continues to happen regularly. Gym equipment is often broken and not repaired in quick order. Not much ventilation so it gets really humid at peak times.
Negative experience: It's an okay gym. It goes through phases of being clean and then not clean. The steamroom/ sauna is off occasionally which is a mood dampener. It's also only gets properly cleaned once a month, slimy the other days. The pool gets used by kids and sometimes you need to change around children, boys included. The equipment is fine and they have decent variety, unfortunately it is often broken for months. When there's classes in the main area of the gym, the music is very loud. The lighting is good. Interior design is good. The staff are generally good. The actual gym is predatory like all gyms are, and you'll find yourself out of pocket and lacking a refund. Yeah if you so much think you'll ever get any money back from here, you're living in a fever dream. They want you to pay a fiver a month to pause your contract. Speak about money hungry. I'm sure there's other, small time gyms, which wouldn't charge you money for nothing. But make a decision based off of what you think is right.
Fantastic experience: I take my son for swim lessons there. The swimming pool is good. They have sectioned it out for lessons. The ladies changing room and toilets are well clean and neat.
Negative experience: I am really disappointed with the customer service provided by a particular staff member at Everlast Gym Imperial Park Bristol called Dona. Whilst attending a fitness class at this gym, I witnessed Dona being extremely rude to another member of staff as well as an attendee in the class. Speaking to both in a disrespectful and abrupt manner. It was my first time in this gym because I had a recommendation from a friend but after this situation I will not be coming back! Not a good look Everlast!
Fantastic experience: gym is fantastic - the staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, the equipment is top-notch and well-maintained, and the atmosphere is positive and supportive
Negative experience: Bitterly regret joining this gym. I've been a member for 4 months, and I'm so disappointed. I am a carer and literally wanted to come for a quiet swim once a week as a break from my demanding home situation. I joined solely to use the pool and the steam room. The pool is often booked for children swimming lessons, so a third of the pool is closed. In the mornings you usually have to dodge older men and women chatting walking or swimming two a breast, or its just simply over crowded. It feels like people soup. I have tried various times up to 6.30pm so far and found it always much the same except for the very rare occasions. Durring this time there seems to be an ongoing issue with hairdryers in the ladies changing room. Either none at all, a very small number, often the same sign from the management stating they will get more. Also the lockers are well past there best, lots of broken doors, or locks that don't fully work. You can go through several to find a working locker. There are only 2 small changing cubicals, and the locks are broken. The steam room has been out of order several times too. I have spoken to the duty manager a couple of times to highlight the issues of broken items and have been met with further empty promises, or just bring your own hairdryer (i do, it's not what i paid for). Resigned to the fact I'm stuck in this contract for another 8 months, as on enquiry am told that I can't end it early, even with the poor facilities.
Fantastic experience: Great gym for the price, staff are 10/10 always welcoming and happy to help with a friendly smile! Good range of equipment and swimming pool / sauna for a competitive price.
Negative experience: Positives: Staff are extremely polite, very knowledgeable and always going out of their way to help, especially the young blonde haired lady. Negatives: The male changing room urinals have been out of use for many months. There is a constant smell of urine and feces, this is totally unacceptable of a gym at this level. The incline hack squat has been broken since around April 24, it has been reported many times by the gym members and gym staff, then ignored by senior management. Again, wholly unacceptable of senior management to ignore this for so long, very disappointing and not setting an example of what leadership is and more importantly for the members, a fully functional gym that we pay for each month.
Negative experience: 1 star and that's only because the staff are all friendly! Lack of equipment, machines broken and takes months/years to fix, air con been broke for years, got rid of both jacuzzi, lack of free weight plates people got to fight for. Staff try their best to resolve this but even they no how bad it is
Negative experience: It gets 2* from me. 1 because the staff are lovely. 2nd star for the free classes in gym membership. The gym always has broken equipment. The leg press been broke for over 6 months. There's soo much more room for more equipment in this gym! Lacking so much vital equipment! Air con is non existent. Barely any leg machines! They've got rid of 2 jacuzzis. They use to have so much more equipment when it was JJB gym and DW now it has become everlast they seem to of got rid of loads of machines and not got any extra. They only have 5 sets of 20kg plates so everyone if fighting over them. Definatly in need of more sets of each weight plates!
Negative experience: The gym itself is decent. Have seen much better. The main gripe I have with it is keeping the doors open and having a draft WITH THE A/C ON FULL POWER, as well, when there are 10°C outside! The worst idea ever. Gonna cancel my subscription with such bad training conditions. There's also always something that's not working and they had leaks in the roof for a very long time!
Negative experience: Small with middling machine quality. Predatory website design that makes it really difficult to cancel a membership. There are much better places in the area.
Fantastic experience: Kaila : I absolutely love this gym I started by using the treadmill, cross trainer & swimming which I loved and the lovely steam room but now I make full use of the classes available with times and intensity levels to suit all with fab and friendly instructors who are there to encourage and help when needed, training in a class keeps you going much more than training alone I love the HIIT Classes Zumba & bums and tums also Box it is great but I would never go home if I attended them all also friendly reception staff always willing to help x
Fantastic experience: I absolutely love the classes that they have to offer. All staff are friendly and helpful. I have an old injury on my shoulder and they offer me easer options of exercise so that I can still participate in classes and always check in and make sure I feel comfortable to carry on.
Fantastic experience: Joined to use the pool, but, hope to do some classes when I'm fit enough. We'll worth checking out.
Positive experience: Friendly staff, very rarely so busy you can't use any machines. Pool and steam room always clean. However pool is often full.
Negative experience: It is evident that Lucy has a tendency to be looking into client Information, this is concerning as I assumed GPDR for a gym would be a serious matter for this gym of size. I will ensure me and all my friends and family cancel our memberships & locate to a gym that takes protecting client information seriously.
Positive experience: Price is decent for what you get, receptionist and staff are friendly.
Positive experience: Ive been a member of this gym for over 10 years, since it was originally JJB, and now everlast. Overall it's a great gym with everything you need for any and all fitness journeys. Admittedly it is in need of a good refurbishment and machines can take a while to be fixed however, some members do treat the equipment with very little respect and this is half the problem. It does get busy a peak times (like any good gym does) but I've not had many issues training and I am a frequent user of the gym. The staff are always welcoming and happy, and I get along with all of them well. I can't complain much at all, most of these reviews are from people that would complain of they won the bloody lottery.
Negative experience: UNLESS YOU WILLING TO TRAIN AFTER 8PM I WOULD NOT BOTHER JOINING ALWAYS BUSY NOMATTER WHAT TIME I COME EVEN AT 3PM CONSTANLEY WAIT ROUND TO GET ON EQIPMENT apart from that its a good gym ALSO CAN NOT CANCEL MEMBERSHIP FOR 12 MONTHS !
Fantastic experience: Lovely clean changing rooms nice pool, steam room and gym
Negative experience: Kit broken all the time, staff tell you that you can't come in 45 minutes before closing, always absolutely rammed.
Fantastic experience: Friendly welcoming staff. Clean and tidy. Feels like it's "anyone's gym" not just the super fit, nice atmosphere
Fantastic experience: Staff made me feel really welcome on my first day & very polite, friendly. I have to say for the money I was quite impressed, , very open & very clean with no problems accessing gym equipment, opening on time at 6.00 a.m , staff member checked on us whilst in sauna which was very good from health & safety perspective. Hope this continues……..
Fantastic experience: Love this gym. The staff are amazing and feel very inspired by the trainers. The manager Laura is amazing. All in all an excellent place to work out
Fantastic experience: Facilities and equipment are excellent, very hygienic, great value, and free parking. Would highly recommend for others to join.
Fantastic experience: Facilities and equipment are excellent, very hygienic, great value, and free parking. Would highly recommend for others to join.
Fantastic experience: I definitely highly recommend this gym. You pay nearly the same price as you pay in a PureGym but you get the standard of a Four ⭐️ Hotel leisure centre. Advance machines, powerful and warm shower, massive steam sauna, clean swimming pool, warm and cozy cafe. I always feel amazing like having a spar day after each time I visit.
Negative experience: Staff are incredible but thats the only real good thing this place has going for it. Overpriced - equipment stays broken for ages, constantly busy so you're waiting for a machine, pool goes down for maintance for weeks every other month. 2 weeks ago I went in at 6.00am mand staff were late to open up by 20 minutes. I only go because its walking distance but if you can go to another gym.
Positive experience: Desperately needs a refurb.
Fantastic experience: I find this place very reliable for its services in regards to what it offers. Nothing is ever closed or out of order. Has a great team which always welcome you every time with a smile. Plenty or refreshments also! You have many classes as well as a swimming pool and steam room.
Negative experience: AVOID!!!! Disgusting place. Total lack of empathy when Wife suffered serious stroke. And conned by being put on contract I never requested
Negative experience: I signed up mainly for the swimming pool and sauna, the sauna from my experience is broken 50% of the time, and even if it is working it stays hot for around 10 mins. The swimming pool seems to have swim classes on ever 5 minutes which give you a tiny area of the pool to actually swim in. I've found coins, plasters, and loose screws on multiple occasions while swimming in the pool. I regret choosing this gym to sign up to at the beginning of last year, they make you sign a 12 month contract agreement and if you freeze your membership at all then you contract extends beyond the original 12 months. The app they recommend you use is awful and really hard to navigate unless your using a computer. Would not recommend.
Negative experience: I've been attending this gym for a year now, and despite the Everlast branding, I've noticed a lack of improvement. The gym is consistently crowded, with insufficient equipment, especially when it comes to dumbbells. There are plenty of excessively heavy weights, but limited options for lighter ones like 10, 12, 14, and 16kg. The gym-goers seem more focused on socializing than working out, and they hog the limited lighter weights for an extended period. Additionally, many pieces of equipment are frequently out of order, including the running machines and weight machines. Even the amenities like the pool, jacuzzi, and sauna are experiencing issues. The jacuzzi no longer gets filled, and the pool lacks enough lanes for faster swimmers due to kids' swimming lessons, which seems more like a money-making scheme. I inquired about a suggestion box with the staff, but there isn't one. It's disheartening to see the decline in standards since the transition from DW to Everlast. It feels like the focus has shifted from maintaining high standards to purely profit-driven motives.
Negative experience: Poor plumbing and cold water, no jacuzzi anymore and swimming pool frequently shut and often freezing. Have gone somewhere more reliable
Positive experience: ...no more jacuzzi
Negative experience: This place has seriously gone downhill since it first opened its doors over 20 years ago. Rude unhelpful staff on front desk thats even if you can find anyone on the front desk. No loo paper on lots of occasions in the ladies toilets - kids being let in when it should be adult only time - the list is endless - classes times are being changed to unsuitable times in the morning - need new management and staff who actually care about their clients
Fantastic experience: Swimming pool was closed for 3 weeks are more now been sorted but the jacuzzi is not working and hasn’t been repaired for ages now told they may be getting g rid of it completely so we should get a reduction in fees as we are not getting what we paid for the facilities
Positive experience: It's a great gym when everything is working.the best steam room. Good staff
Negative experience: This place has lots of potential!! However, most things are often broken. The jacuzzi, steam room, and gym equipment are always broken. The pool is very small which can be great unless there are kids swimming lessons which then takes away a third of the pool. Kids are always allowed in, it's the parents problem for not ensuring the children are well behaved but it doesn't help nobody checks staff wise. Kids are jumping in, splashing, all over the pool which makes it very difficult to actually swim lengths. I wish they had sessions for kids. Once you've experienced how small the pool is and with kids too, you'll be annoyed overall, definitely not worth the price!
Negative experience: They informed that pool refurbishment is going to take 2-3 weeks. It seems like there are no works going on there and I took ages already (Update) Finally they opened the pool however hot tub is not working. I believe that they delay it by purpose as they save electricity and water costs.
Fantastic experience: My first visit and absolutely love it. Nice clean gym, plenty to choose from, lovely pool and steam room.
Negative experience: Shame the boiler for the pool has been broken for two weeks so far. I spoke with one of the staff yesterday, and they said it's going to take another few weeks more to fix it.
Positive experience: Went for a tour with a view to joining the gym very nice young man showed us around had a good vibe about it
Fantastic experience: I'm really enjoying going there! It's got what I want - a good selection of varied classes, helpful staff, a swimming pool, jacuzzi and steam room on top of the usual exercise machines and punching bags. I highly recommend it!
Fantastic experience: Very nice and friendly staff can mot fo enough for you. Only think wish you had a swimming costume spinner to get some of the water out fir taking home
Negative experience: No air con
Negative experience: Went this morning 8:30 way too busy couldn’t get on anything. Even when I could get a bench there was no weights available. Don’t waste your money on this commercial gym
Positive experience: Been going there 20 years ...too many kids in pool ..changing rooms falling apart ...too many people sat on machines in gym on there phones not using them...but its OK..its the way everything is these days
Fantastic experience: Ok
Fantastic experience: Beat gym in South Bristol, got everything you need, pool, sauna, gym with cardio and free weights! Nice location and free car park.
Positive experience: Its very busy and not worth the membership fee. Limited equipment and opening hours shuts early.
Fantastic experience: I Went There With My Support Workers Hille And Becky And Lynn And Dieon And Mark.
Negative experience: Full of kids the gym Is so busy you have to queue for a machine and the pool is full of children so you can't swim lanes. The hot tub is always broken and the steam room has no steam. Will be leaving for hengrove gym
Negative experience: Aside from the steam room always being broken and the gym being dirty as hell... I asked several times to cancel membership over the phone due to flying abroad to visit a critically ill family member. I was told to cancel online for which there was no option or come to the gym, despite being in a different country. I was finally given a managers email. They took a week to respond making it a month since I initially tried to cancel my membership costing me more money in a period where I’m unable to work caring for my father. I’m happy to amend this review once it it’s resolved and have left it with the manager. Update: Manager told me they will not refund the extra month I was charged.
Fantastic experience: Clean and good to workout.
Negative experience: Normally use Filton gym . Popped in to find the place chock a block and a new locker method involves buying a lock for £4. No Staff on the desk and the changing rooms unclean. Uninspiring so I left without training. Better when it was DW.
Positive experience: Would have been a five but hot tub out of action when I went in today
Fantastic experience: Got everything I need for a healthy body and mind ....I love the sauna and swimming ♀️ pool
Positive experience: The family changing room is uninspiring. I think it doubles as the disabled toilet but there is nowhere to keep a toddler contained, so impossible to use! However, at least the showers are usually hot.
Positive experience: HEY thanks so much, in such a rubbish place directly, you have no idea... and this place, the people here, have all gone above and beyond with no effort at all. If there's something to say, then that's me, but here, only once someone got close to me in a class, when loads space. Everything about here is perfect, apart from not being 24 hours
Positive experience: Nice sauna
Fantastic experience: Very friendly atmosphere. Classes are amazing.
Positive experience: One of the best value gym in Bristol. £30 monthly payments, provided free classes, gym equipment, steam room, jacuzzi and swim pool. You can access any time with the rate. This used to be a DWgym which I was a member of and the layout of the facility still similar. Highly recommended for anyone who looks for gym place in Bristol. One thing I wish is that, at the moment no option to go to other Everlast gym only the one you have registered to. If this option is available I will definitely give 5 stars
Negative experience: Other than the fact that it’s horrendously busy, I cancelled my membership with a PT at the kiosk back in April. Yet they’ve charged me an extra 5 months on top. Don’t bother joining this gym, you’ll get better value for money if you just burn your notes every month.
Positive experience: People friendly pool clean easy access for disabled people good value for money
Negative experience: Gym equipment has been broken for almost 3 months, I've complained to employees but they said they don't even have a forecast for when it will be fixed, because according to him "gym stuff takes time to be fixed." someone responsible who can sort this out please!
Fantastic experience: Enjoy the pool and other facilities, reasonable cost too
Positive experience: Although the gym has an amazing pool, the fast lines are always used by SLOW swimmers. Complained many times but staff don’t care. COULD ANYONE PLEASE LEAVE CLEAR THAT FAST LINES ARE FOR TRAINING ?!?!? ,,, keep up with speed or move away
Positive experience: I go swimming here x
Positive experience: Few bad points - 1st steamroom lately took ages to repair. 2nd is some people that think they can lift heavy weights, dropping them on the floor all the time and making all other users angry. Staff doesn't seem to care much about that. (If you can't lift it properly then don't lift it) 3rd - some equipment requires oil or some kind of lubricants or maybe adjustment but there doesn't seem to be anyone to deal with those issues. Overall I recommend to anyone. Good value for money.
Negative experience: All showers freezing cold boilers broke last month no steam room (for months)everyone still paying full membership though
Positive experience: Good value membership fees. Lovely swimming pool. Good variety of fitness classes.
Positive experience: I enjoy going and the members are nice.
Negative experience: Lack of maintenance at the gym, swimming pool and steam room. Also I experienced a couple times very rude behaviour from one of the staff member:(
Negative experience: After my complaint regarding moulded air ventilators around 9 of them in the shower room I didn't get any reply from managment.
Negative experience: Pool cold AGAIN steam room out of action. Jacuzzi out of action what r we paying for
Fantastic experience: I am very happy with this club. Very nice, helpful staff and really good clean environment. The pool is a good temperature and lovely steam room.
Positive experience: Good to see the jacuzzi and steam room working. Only one jacuzzi sadly. Good sized pool. Be aware there are child swim classes which reduces pool use.
Fantastic experience: Very happy gym is clean and tidy nice swimming pool 5/5 ☆
Fantastic experience: The staff here are great, very informative and friendly. Plenty of equipment to use. Changing rooms are always cleaned. GREAT GYM
Positive experience: Clean and well kept facilities... but the male changing rooms not being set up for swimming (bands on keys), the ridiculous height (if you're 4'~5'6" you're going to struggle, if you can use it at all) of the changing table (and the fact the emergency pull cord is dangling perilously close to it) in the "family" changing area and the lack of locks on said area could be easily improved. I'd also recommend a toddler restraining seat in the changing area if serious about accomodating families, especially if a parent is out solo.
Positive experience: It's OK not to bad for the price just need to avoid busy times
Positive experience: Great pool
Positive experience: OK pool nice and warm really friendly staff
Fantastic experience: Decent Gym.
Positive experience: Ok
Fantastic experience: Brilliant
Negative experience: Rubbish, steam room not working since 8th Aug, and told will take a further 2 or 3 weeks to fix a fan ...absolutely appalling...if that was Filton gym it been fixed within 24hrs ....
Positive experience: Good gym! Steam room very poor!!(No steam) Went with a friend to try out, probably won't sign up. But the rest was OK.
Positive experience: The gym is well equipped and clean. Some people are obviously too ignorant to wash there equipment after them but staff should spend more time in the gym watching what’s going on. Staff are friendly, disappointing that on joining one of the more expensive gyms no one gives you an induction of any kind. Excellent all in all but they need to get more refreshments available and sort a decent coffee machine out. The lockers in the male changing room are pretty poor because most of them don’t work so you spend 5 minutes trying numerous lockers before getting one that will actually lock.
