Fantastic experience: Friendly staff, good facilities and decent size swimming pool

Negative experience: Shocking gym. There is no option to cancel on the app. After not attending and cancelling my direct debit because there was no cancellation option, I’ve now been charged a whole year worth of fees. Completely unfair and misleading. Most machines are broken , shutting times are rubbish and ceiings have mould on them. If i could give it 0 stars i would. Avoid this place

Fantastic experience: Best value swimming pool in Derby. It is rundown, however still the cheapest in the city for those on a budget. The jacuzzi is nice when its open, as is the steam/sauna. The gym isnt that big, but has all the equipment needed. The studio is good and has a great atmosphere when its busy.

Negative experience: DISGRACEFUL - do not join Extremely run down, everything keeps breaking. Pool .. showers …. Equipment. After a year I’m trying to cancel my membership , it appears impossible…. Save yourself the hassle. Ask for a manager to call you ….impossible. No one calls. No one responds.

Negative experience: Used to love this Gym, and have always recommended. Great staff ran it when I used to go and was very reasonable. Had to cancel membership due to working away. When initially talking about re-joining due to my committed membership I was informed that I wouldn’t have to pay the joining fee. Have rang up to join again and even tho I was told otherwise they will not stick to their promise. I will now have to find elsewhere and It’s a terrible shame that I have been let down. I have referred so many people to go here and yet there was not an ounce of appreciation for this.

Fantastic experience: Great gym. I've done powerlifting for a number of years, and this gym does the job. There is a powerlifting area downstairs and a fitness suite upstairs. The gym also has a sauna, hot tub, pool and a subway restaurant. I mainly focus on powerlifting, and though the room is a little cramped and tired, there are a number of racks and benches.

Positive experience: Been goin for yrs. Yeah the equipment is a little outdated but its a gym at the end of the day and has everything you would need. I have never struggled to find machines. If u want a soft gym with all your juice bars and distractions theres plenty of others around Never seen it to be dirty as many reviews claim and the staff are fab. Decent gym

Positive experience: Not the best gym in the world but it does the job. Good value and the cardio and machine sections are well equipped and well maintained. The weights room looks like a long forgotten school gym, with ancient weights and quite old equipment, however if you just need a bar and some plates then it's fine (would be nice to have a hard floor in the squat rack, the squidgy floor is lethal for heavy squatting). Showers are patchy but do the job and everything seemed well maintained and staff are super friendly

Negative experience: Shocking gym would not sign up at all Equipment is old , missing parts , 1 machine so have to wait, sunbed lights are out and they won't tell you. Both gym bits smell and changing rooms need cleaning more after kids have been swimming. If you have a premium membership you get free pt session but good luck trying to get booked in, shocking Manager Lottie is really rude and childish!

Fantastic experience: Choices health club is the best beacuseof 1. **Fantastic Facility: Choices has everything I need for a great workout. The equipment is up-to-date, and the space is always clean and well-maintained. I love the variety of classes they offer, and the instructors are top-notch. 2. **Supportive Staff:** The trainers are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. They’ve really helped me improve my form and stay motivated. Plus, the friendly atmosphere makes it a place I look forward to going. 3. **Great Value: they offers a lot for the price. With all the equipment, classes, and amenities, it’s definitely worth the investment. I’ve seen great progress since joining! **Friendly Service:** The staff are super friendly and knowledgeable. They’ve helped me choose the right products to support my fitness goals without being pushy or sales-driven.

Fantastic experience: I went only to use the pool, I had a day pass and will go again without doubt. The lady on the desk on entering was very pleasant and super helpful. Definitely going back.

Fantastic experience: What a wonderful place to either ramp up your day with a workout on wind down with a swim. Fantastic service front of house with a choice of not only memberships but also pre and post workout essentials such as drinks and snacks, under the tutorlidge of people who genuinely know their stuff. PT sessions and classes also available, however the gem of this place is the warm pool only beaten by the warm reception from staff.

Fantastic experience: Visited for my toddler's courtesy swimming class yesterday, lovely staff and facilities!

Negative experience: The place is filthy. There's black mould in the lockers. Only 1 shower works properly, and the changing rooms don't look like there ever cleaned. I wish I could cancel my contract.

Positive experience: I can't give 5 stars at the moment because I dnt now bout the gym yet

Negative experience: Avoid at all costs, limited equipment, sauna is broke most of the time, changing rooms aren't the nicest either, signed up for a 6 month contract, seen the contract out, cancelled, they've continued to put me on monthly contracts without my permission leading to a hefty £150 backlog payment. Solicitors being contacted. For the price you pay it's not worth it.

Negative experience: Have to attend here for children’s swimming lessons, if they didn’t go you couldn’t pay me to go here. Changing rooms are disgusting, broken lockers, broken lights. One male toilet that’s covered in urine. Along with toilet roll stored on the floor also covered in urine. The male changing rooms don’t look like they’re ever cleaned, attended on a Tuesday, Friday and Saturday for lessons and the same used tissues were on the side in the changing room and empty shower gel bottles on the floor of the showers. The swimming lesson is fantastic but that’s not run by the club, they only hire the pool.

Positive experience: Good sauna

Negative experience: Staff are about as useful as chocolate teapots and clearly don’t even understand their own terms and conditions - was told multiple times I can cancel due to working away, after providing the evidence they just kept asking for more despite what I sent them being what they asked for. Looking at their recent set of accounts I’m not surprised they didn’t want me to cancel, not sure how far £2 will get you

Fantastic experience: Nicely equipped gym with everything you need. Starting from wide range of workout machines, swimming pool and ending with relaxing sauna, really friendly staff and car park next time to the gym. It’s definitely the place where you will be well looked after.

Positive experience: We come here for swimming classes with my 6 year old. It’s OK. The changing rooms and pool deck are often dirty, which is a shame.

Positive experience: The gym feels pretty run down compared to other gyms I’ve been to if I’m honest. The staff are lovely but the upstairs section of the gym has equipment that is a bit worse for wear and it is quite stuffy in the summer and feels a bit damp.

Fantastic experience: I am a new member and started going to gym after 5 years break. I turned up without any prior appointment to visit gym. I found Darryl really professional and helpful. I was really impressed with the experience I had and decided to join choices. On my second visit I met Lottie who was equally helpful, I signed up for 1 year gym membership. Free parking is always bonus. Looking forward to get in shape.

Positive experience: Allright for the price you pay. Nice and clean swimming pool + sauna. Not bad equipment downstairs and upstairs.

Positive experience: It’s okay. It has most of what you need. Boxing bag is kinda unusable as when you hit it, the entire floor shakes putting people off their workout. If someone hits it had enough, you feel as though the floor is going to collapse. Machines are just crammed in there. There are a lot of bikes/cardio machines taking up a lot of space, which only a few people use at a time. Opening hours are a little rubbish. Mon to Thurs are great, Fri-Sunday are rubbish. The speakers are placed terribly, some right above machines pointing down on the person using them. Too many children use the pool which is annoying when I’m paying to be in an adult gym. The gym does it’s job. Although the gym it’s self is sub-par and feels unfinished, the staff are helpful and polite, one of the reasons most enjoy going. Decent members at the gym also which makes it more enjoyable.

Just a shame that the pool is taken up so much by kids classes.. not very fair when you’re paying a monthly fee to have to schedule your swim around kids classes, and they’re in the pool most days especially after work hours. Not to mention you have to book swim sessions at the weekends. Other than the downside to the pool it’s a great gym with a nice atmosphere

Fantastic experience: Great gym. Literally everything you need at a gym plus a swimming pool and sauna. Really helpful and approachable staff. PT instructors that are incredibly patient and extremely knowledgeable. Theres even a separate hair salon onsite that I take my kids too.

Positive experience: It's a nice gym and lovely staff, not overly busy in the gym department however just be aware you do have to book for the swimming pool at weekends due to paddleducks (kids learning to swim) therefore only leaving 1 lane for the service users

Fantastic experience: I'm a fairly new member and also signed up for PT sessions which I am really enjoying and feeling better for having. I've actually started swimming again after 30+ years and loving it..good choice of activities outside of the gym and as I'm recovering from surgery and have a few health issues which dictate what I can do and work constraints I find the long opening hours a bonus. All staff are lovely , friendly and professional and enthusiastic..no body shaming and make you feel good about yourself. Definitely glad I joined and I can't reat the gym and staff highly enough.

Fantastic experience: Every time I’ve been there’s machines available also the gym is very clean. Staff are very friendly & helpful. Ashley worked out a program for me & went through so I could easy understanding he also gave me a few tips of where I’ve being wrong with some exercises & showed me how to adjust so I’m getting the full benefit of the exercise.

Fantastic experience: I joined this gym again this year (I had a previous membership but left at the end of the contract due to personal reasons). This time I've been taking advantage of some of the classes. I still needed to kick it up notch so I met with Ashley Broughton and just had a great first programme session. He's knowledgeable, motivating and very easy to get on with and is creating what I think will be a great programme for me to follow. I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a more solid routine to get the most out of your workout.

Fantastic experience: I’ve recently gone back to Choices following lockdown and needed some help and motivation to get back into exercise . Ash has been amazing, he listened to what I wanted to achieve and the areas I felt I needed to work on and strengthen . He has set me a couple of great programs. Thanks x

Fantastic experience: Really good gym. Clean facilities friendly staff

Fantastic experience: I love my gym! The staff are all wonderfully friendly. All member’s that I have met are great, no body shaming to be found, just good fun! Everything has been kept very clean since the pandemic. I use the pool and partake in as many classes as possible. I’d like to give a special shout out to Katie, as she has been delivering most of the classes I have attended since the reopening. She is a wonderful person and keeps me motivated throughout any class. I happened to mention to Katie that I had plateaued with my weight loss, and she recommended that I spend some time with one of their personal trainers,Ash. Ash has been a god send. With his help I have identified that I have a very unhealthy relationship with the food. For the last few weeks I have a meeting with him and he has written me a very easy to follow meal plan. With this meal plan and Ash’s help, I hope to get to where I want to be. If I have any problems I know I have a whole team of supportive staff members behind me. It makes going to the gym a little bit more bearable!

Positive experience: Great staff but the gym could do with a make over, the pool area is ok as are the changing rooms my only issue is the price £40 a month full membership not worth it when you consider DW on pride park have the same facilities for £31 a month.

Positive experience: Krav maga every sunday 11-12 is awesome. Come along, first session is free.

Fantastic experience: Amazing experience helps me concentrate on my goals in life, all the equipment is ready at hand I’d recommend this gym solely on the staff who are always a pleasure to talk too, they'll encourage you to reach you’re goals especially if you get a PT who’ll train you in the right direction I recommend Ash broughton he’s very motivating, to the goals you desire.

Positive experience: Nice place go in the afternoon so not many people in the weights is basically empty and upstairs cardio probably only 5 people in so no waiting around for machines

Negative experience: Not for me. Atmosphere was not what i needed in a gym and it was a bit pricey for what it offered.

Negative experience: Dirty gym, mould in showers, male changing rooms unclean. Hit and miss with equipment. Tried to cancel membership they accepted my cancellation notice then send a credit agency. Forced me to pay. Avoid.

Positive experience: Good facilities but the cleaning needs to be done more regularly as there is urine on the floor. There is no steam room and the saunas are split by gender which is strange.

Fantastic experience: Joined choices In November. Friendly and helpful staff. The changing rooms have just been done up. There is plenty of equipment free when I go in the morning before work, and the pool is also quiet. You are also able to do a 3month contract, so you are not tied up for a whole 12 months. I have looked at various gyms in Derby. Choices gives you excellent value for money, with all the features of the exclusive facilities. Would recommend to anyone.. Keep up the good work guys...

Fantastic experience: I find this gym very good, staff are all ways helpful, the showers are good and clean all ways. Can get on anything you wish to without having to wait. The place is well looked after.

Fantastic experience: Love it! Never had a problem with payments, always able to use the machines as it's always busy but not manic! All equipment is clean and it's a nice environment as I'm not a skinny bird and I don't feel uncomfortable as everyone is there to achieve their own goals! Very comfortable and relaxing environment, 5 stars from me.

Negative experience: I come here once a week for swimming with the kids. I was once a member probably 10 years ago. The showers and the toilets smell of cabbage and it's really disgusting.

Negative experience: Unhelpful staff. Not an enjoyable experience. Trt before you buy! It is hard to get out of contract once you have signed up!
