Everlast Gyms - Glasgow East: Opinions
Positive experience: Initially went to use the Everlast, which is described at the fort, when it's over beside the Morrisons in Easterhouse, which is closed for refurbishment. Went to the Everlast East, Provan Walk, which is the fort ♂️very confusing. The gym itself is small, I was expecting it to be grander. There are free weights as well as machines and spaces for floor exercises. Thee male locker room is dated and in need of refurbishment ,it might be next, a taped off tanning booth in the corner, why isn't it fixed, looks like is ready to fall down. There is a pool, with two jacuzzis , one of which was out of order. The pool is good, however one of the walls needs attention, paint flaking off. The showers were good, but I tried to make it warmer and turned the mixer beyond 7 and the water turned off. This shower was at the end of a line, a lack of pressure I think. Don't know why members are paying over the odds for this gym, when the one a few hundred yards up the road will be reopened and refurbished for less than half the cost. Please get it fixed
Negative experience: Love the gym but see for being randomly closed without telling members , it’s brutal.
Fantastic experience: Great gym
Positive experience: I’ve been a member of this gym now for more than 2 years. I’ve seen it switch hands from DW to Everlast, and watched it get gradually worse over time. Everlast need to seriously start reinvesting back into this gym for their member’s sake. The pool is a major selling point for a lot of people (myself included), however it’s tired, dirty and neglected. Walls are stripping back, some showers are constantly out of order, likewise with the steam/sauna rooms. The pool is also rented out to 3rd-party children’s swimming lessons a lot of the time which restricts the usage for paying members that would perhaps take swimming seriously. Basic and inexpensive repairs could make a huge improvement. Perhaps more regular cleaning of the changing rooms, blue plastic shoes when entering to keep the floors clean, a spin-dryer for swimming shorts, a touch up of the poolside, as well as more regular maintenance of facilities could make the world of difference. Not to mention the lockers and toilet situation… Lockers/changing rooms should be completely modernised up to other gym standards, instead of relying on members to supply their own padlocks etc. The toilets are constantly in a bad way. Dirty, humid, with a constant smell. Regular cleaning with bleach would even help in the short-term… As for the gym itself - I actually really like the gym. However, again, it’s lacking investment. Some gym equipment is now showing signs of wear & tear, the staff choose to play local radio over the speakers which does not make for a motivational atmosphere (especially for those that don’t use headphones, or are training with a PT). Surely no one likes to listen to adverts for local plumbing companies whilst working out? Although maybe Everlast could take note of those adverts… Customer service could also be improved. Being at the frontline of the business, they should be making the utmost effort to have members feel welcome when attending/or signing up. A simple smile, a greeting, a “have a lovely day” would go a long way with most people. All-in-all, Everlast could make some basic tweaks to their management, along with some small renovations to facilities, and see some major improvements. I think I speak for all members when I say this is well overdue at this point… and for ~£30 per month, this should be classed as a ‘premium’ gym and is currently not up the standard you would expect. I’m hoping Everlast’s corporate department take note of member feedback and push forward with some improvements. I know it would be appreciated from everyone.
Positive experience: Variety of equipment to use, I never swim but I live for the jacuzzi after 30mins on the treadmill
Fantastic experience: Great facilities staff and equipment
Negative experience: locker room is a disgrace, equipment stays broken for weeks, Poolside is tired. Staff are great but let down by the lack of investment by the company.
Fantastic experience: Excellent gym .swimming pool good system for booking classes.
Negative experience: Same as the other people said, dirty! But I would also add that the charge £30-40 for new members when they use archaic almost ready to fall off equipment in the premises... what a joke.
Negative experience: Health suite is run down, constant issues with equipment not functioning or not being warm enough. Rotten door facings, stains on the ceiling, not a nice place to chill out. Gents showers only 2 function properly out of 8, only supply lukewarm water. This is classed as a premium Everlast Gym, but is well below standard. Asked the head office to ask the area manager to call to discuss the issues, 7 days later, still await a call back. Manager called back, and agreed to terminate my contract 3 months early, without any penalty clauses. I did recommend 3 people which entitled me to 3 free months anyway. I would return to the gym, only if the place was brought up to a reasonable standard.
Positive experience: Don't use the gym but plenty of space and machinery for all ,aqua class really popular great instructor. Changing area clean hairdryers rubbish.
Fantastic experience: Very well equipped and clean gym. Staff and PT’s are excellent and very knowledgeable. Got a swimming pool there and also got a steam room and jacuzzi facilities. Both locker areas are clean. Ample parking facilities as this gym is within the Glasgow Fort.
Fantastic experience: Gym is huge with a wide variety of machines. Swimming pool amazing and Jacuzzis the same. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Basically everything that Glasgow Club is not at this moment in time
Negative experience: Don't bother joining for the pool....kids in it playing all the time.
Fantastic experience: Good place to workout.. I prefer this location as it has the swimming pool and steam room to relax after my workout. Thanks
Fantastic experience: Love it classes are great people r lovely
Fantastic experience: Great experience since 2019. Need some refurb on a spa side (I heard it is already planned), but the atmosphere created by the staff make me addicted to the gym!
Negative experience: Been a regular member of many gyms in Glasgow over the years, never had any issues, but being a member here has been the worst experience I've had by far. Classes getting cancelled, pool or steam room shut without any notice, showers run down, dirty pool floor and when you try to get in touch with the management regarding any issues they just ignore you. Gym has always been my happy place where I go to make myself feel better, but this place just makes me angry. Would not recommend to anyone
Negative experience: Staff are great but the gym is run down compared to when DW owned it. Male lockers all broken. Both jacuzzis broken on a regular basis. Showers cold. Generally in poor condition.
Fantastic experience: Excellent gym .swimming pool good system for booking classes....
Fantastic experience: Great gym brilliant facilities and amazing staff
Positive experience: N/A
Fantastic experience: Great workout and love the gym and swimming pool area
