Negative experience: Found dirty underwear in my room. Service not great food was ok at best

Positive experience: Unfortunately no hot water in shower and tele signal would not work. The actual venue for party was outstanding and the food amazing!

Positive experience: Just back from a 2 night golf trip, golf course is a little tired, tee boxes are really bad, that said the course is really interesting. Staff are brilliant, really friendly and helpful. The evening meals were fantastic, really flavoursome and big portions

Positive experience: We stayed here for one night and a function. I was given numerous dirty glasses with lipstick on during the function and the next day. Plates were dirty for breakfast the next morning and so were the glasses for the juices. The breakfast tables were sticky as well. On a positive note, the staff were friendly and rooms were spacious.

Positive experience: We went as a large golf party. We have been going many years. The accommodation is alpine lodge like. The golf course a good layout challenge, perhaps more TLC for greens tees and fairways required. Bar good with adjascent bowling alleys. Spa didnt use. Staff excellent and the food has improved exponentially over the years.

Fantastic experience: We visited Lakeside Lodge in Pidley for a birthday celebration and started the afternoon with a game of bowling—great fun and a lovely way to kick things off! Afterwards, we had dinner in the restaurant, and it was a real highlight. The food was some of the most flavoursome we've ever tasted—beautifully cooked, well-presented, and very reasonably priced. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, making it a perfect spot for both casual dining and special occasions. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

Fantastic experience: 5 star review! We have a annual golf society for 32 people and decided to visit Pidley for our 10th year and it was a great weekend! We were a bit anxious as had heard that the course wasn’t in great condition but it really wasn’t an issue at all, considering that recent heatwave the course was in great condition. Hospitality wise we stayed in lodges and went back to the rooms to continue drinking after the bar shut and it was a great setting, one of the best nights we’ve had over the 10 years. Food was also the best we’ve experienced, breakfast was good, lunch was cracking and then dinner choices were the best we’ve had! Couldn’t recommend this venue anymore, we will be back. Also to thank you to Sarah behind the bar/waitressing who looked after us over the weekend, she genuinely made our weekend better by being there. Local members were very friendly and it felt like they appreciated us being there!

Negative experience: Never going to stay here again worse hotel I have ever stayed for work. Room was filthy with insects or cobwebs everywhere.

Fantastic experience: Incredible course and great staff within the golf shop! I’ve been looking for new clubs and was provided with great advice which wasn’t pushy into me buying them straight away! The course is beautiful and well worth the money! Will definitely be back soon! ⛳️

Fantastic experience: I didnt stay here but I went over for sunday lunch with my parents and cousin. The food was amazing and the staff were so freindly and attentive. The portions were huge and the beef which i had was delicious. It was one of the best Roasts that I have experienced in the area! the price was fantastic too, very good value!

Fantastic experience: Myself and three friends returned this weekend for a three day golf break. We stayed in Willow Lodge. The lodge is well appointed, including an excellent wine fridge, the individual rooms are very comfortable and it is overall a comfortable place to relax in the evening after an evening meal that will not leave you hungry!! The menu has a decent selection of food, the bar is fully stocked and the staff in there are friendly and helpful. Breakfast itself has everything you would want on offer to start your day. The golf course is in great condition and a decent challenge. The pro shop is well stocked with essentials should you need anything. The buggies are very modern with on board sat-nav to plot your way around. On the whole a visit here represents decent value for money and I look forward to future visits. Thank you to all of the team that make this such nice place to visit.

Fantastic experience: We had a great time on a golf booking at lakeside lodge , We played 2 games one Thursday and one Friday, We had a lodge to ourselves, Everything went superbly , We had four buggies and had two groups of 4, From arriving to checking out everything was organised and good, We had a three course meal booked for the Thursday night with the staff being very organised and worked around us in when we wanted to eat. The food was spot on with a great variety of food on the menu, I would recommend getting there a hour before you are teeing off , to get your food sorted for the evening, let yourself known to the pro shop and if you can book in, we then had some time warming up on the range. we left our booking in until after we finished the round. The course is great, well kept and some interesting holes. There is ten pin bowling, pool table for the evening which is great. Beers are good on Tap , ice breaker , Stella and a few others , The bar menu for sandwiches is very reasonable on cost and the sandwiches are well worth what you pay. If you are looking for a place where a lot of people can be together and have a laugh I would recommend here . Well done to the team.

Negative experience: Had an ok stay. Food good but lodges need an update. Left my GHD hair straighteners behind over £100 to buy contacted the reception assuming they would post them out to me and sadly denied having them. So a costly stay for me in the end. Wouldn’t recommend on this basis! I wouldn’t ever expect that leaving my own property behind would ever have this outcome anywhere that I stay. Very disappointed.

Fantastic experience: We had our wedding here and we'd both like to say, it was everything we could have wished for. The setting, The Staff and especially the food was outstanding. We'd like to praise Sarah on her first wedding flying solo. She was very professional, calm, and attentive to all our needs. The guests all went away saying it was one of the best weddings they'd been to all thanks to the staff and food. Thank you to Lakeside Lodge for making our day special and very memorable.

Positive experience: Our 7th year here as a group of 24. As always staff and accommodation are excellent. The lodges are so nice to stay in with nice seating areas to relax. Food served in the bar and restaurant is always very nice. The course is in good content the first cut was a bit long. We are already booked for next year.

Fantastic experience: Really impressive golf complex. Recently organised a two day tournament for friends and family. This place really exceeded everyone’s expectations. Great course and related facilities (driving range, par 3 warm up course etc) excellent lodge accommodation, food really good and really helpful and efficient staff. Ten pin bowling also went down a treat. Really recommend the place. We’ll definitely all be back next year !

Fantastic experience: 12 of us stayed in one of the lodges for one night, 2 rounds of golf and some 10 pin bowling. Check in was extremely easy, lodge was perfect for our needs, golf course was good, bowling great fun with dinner & staff were excellent, especially Sarah and her team

Positive experience: We had an overnight stay here as we were attending a big birthday celebration that was being held in the function room. We enjoyed the use of the pool table and bowling lanes in the afternoon as well as a lovely lunch in the clubhouse before the event and the staff were very good and attentive. We stayed in room 15 which had all the essentials but was a little tired, carpet was ripped in places so could do with a new one or maybe a rug to cover it. Overall we had an enjoyable stay.

Fantastic experience: My daughter had her wedding ceremony and reception here on the 8th of July 2023 it was fantastic, Rachel and Amy and all the staff were amazing ,the food was outstanding, I would highly recommend this place keep up the good work 5 stars 10 out of 10 brilliant.

Negative experience: Oddest and least welcoming check in experience of my life. Long complicated path to find reception. Then one encounters two signs, both saying “Reception”, with arrows pointing in opposite directions. One of them is clearly the reception desk, but the door was entirely locked. On the door is a complex set of instructions to find the “late arrival box” where my room key might be. But I never managed to find it. At the bottom of the sign is an invitation to ask at the bar if there are any questions. On my first trip to the bar, they had no idea what to do with me other than point me back to the locked reception door. When that proved to be anything but fruitful, I returned to the bar a second time and spoke with someone else. I was told that reception would not open for another hour, but that I could wait at the bar. Good! I was hungry after my journey. Oh, but they have no food available other than crisps and pork scratchings. So I sat down and starved whilst writing this review. This place really doesn’t seem to want their guests to bother them. A hotel reception desk should not be closed in the middle of the afternoon. And if you are going to make people sit and wait to check in, at least have some way to feed them while they wait.

Fantastic experience: A great place to unwind and relax. Away from the hustle and bustle of town. The staff are lovely and very helpful. Food and beers are super good!

Fantastic experience: Love it there

Positive experience: A friend and I stayed here after a wedding so didn't use any of the golf facilities so can't comment on that. The room was clean and quiet, although perhaps a little more barebones than some of the photos I saw. However the bed was comfy, a fan was provided, and there was a lot of car parking space. There was a buffet breakfast included in the morning and had a mix of cereal and fry up food. The women at the front desk were the highlight for us - they were so helpful; allowing us to check in early, and they spent a long time sorting out a taxi booking for us. The bar is also lovely in the sunshine looking out at the course.

Negative experience: Gone downhill.. course used to be stunning. £40 for a round and the course is in terrible condition, bunkers have not been raked in weeks, massive holes and waste around the greens, greens not been rolled and are like cement. The lack of water and care on and around the greens is obvious. The best cared for holes are the 9th and 18th, everything else has been left to fend for itself. Very sad to see..

Fantastic experience: Driving range is well priced and peace with a practice bunker area thats useful. Golf shop seems well stocked and reasonably priced. Course is great and highly maintained, and the Bar area with outside tables looking over the eighteenth is great. Great place all round. Recently found the chipping and putting area which has been really helpful, and i even think theres some beauty place there?? Oh, and the tenpin bowling and pooltable area is a bonus, the kids love it. Havent tried the food or the stay over facilities yet...

Positive experience: The accommodation and food was 4 star, and the staff 5 star . However, overlooking the recent very dry weather the golf course was in poor condition and in need of some TLC. The bunkers are very poor because they rake them with a quad bike which has comppressed the sand and more like concrete covered in dust. It's a lazy way of preparing bunkers and they should take more care of what could be a good golf course.

Negative experience: Review is for restaurant. Today I had roasted pork loin. I wasn't able to cut meat by knife, it was too tough. Recommend to play golf, but eat somewhere else.

Negative experience: I wouldn't bother. Staff to customer relations is pretty poor. Especially in the golf shop when trying to purchase items. I think it has progressively become worse over the years. On a positive note. The beer tasted good today and I was able to enjoy fathers day from home instead.

Positive experience: Amazing golf venue! Truely a place to behold! The accommodation is clean tidy but slightly dated (no problems atall though) Food is 10/10 in quality and the drinks are nice cold and refreshing. I really enjoyed staying here and would certainty stay again in the future

Fantastic experience: Second time here absolutely loved it! Everyone has always been so lovely over the phone and face to face. Only 4 lanes but so much nicer than the huge faceless bowling alleys we've been to in the past. We stopped for a sandwich afterwards - really good prices and a fab sandwich with lots of filling! Would definitely recommend and looking forward to returning.

Negative experience: Booked to stay here because of the gym which on checking we found out was 5 pounds to get in. The bowling lane is nice feature but poorly kept and bumpy. Then they closed the bar at 9 and made sure not to call last orders and when we asked for drinks at 9:30 they simply refused. Overall experience might have been nice if the staff had been accomodating rather than ready to close as soon as they could.

Negative experience: A disappointing visit to what looks like a really nice place on line. The staff was very rude and unwelcoming. Infested in spiders, lack of lighting to the room I stayed in tbh it was pitch black, Very dated and my overall stay was underwhelming. Ending on a high the food was great.

Positive experience: Great place, local to my house and has everything for a reasonable price. The bowling is great for my young family, although the balls are a bit off round and bounce down the alley! The food and drink is very reasonable and a good round of golf for most people and ability. The par 3 is good to have a casual catch up with friends. Child friendly and not too snoopy. Can show up and enter without a membership which is nice. Good golf shop too
