Positive experience: Lovely location to visit and such a nice hotel with super friendly staff, good food and attention to detail. I also enjoyed a massage at the spa and the experience was relaxing. Unfortunately during one of the nights there was a wedding and people and kids were running around the hallways and it was extremely noisy, not great for people in their rooms, specially not for those precisely staying with dogs, something to consider but other than that, the experience was great and we particularly enjoyed the long walks and the open space in the restaurant area.

Negative experience: Sadly a really disappointing stay. I booked this hotel for our first night away without kids in 5 years, and as a Christmas gift. I specially chose it because I wanted a hotel where we could spend the afternoon using the pool/spa facilities, to unwind and relax. We arrived at 2pm, and got access to our room. We went to make a drink to find one mug and no milk, a problem quickly resolved but nevertheless. We went to use the spa and we were told it had child inflatables in until 330. We went back at 340 and were told it was full and to come back in 30 mins. 20 mins later we were told the same. At 4.40 we were told it was still full and there were three families ahead of us in the queue. They said we could try after 6 when kids weren’t allowed. We had a table booked for 7 and that’s not really the point of having an afternoon in a hotel with a spa! I went to complain and whilst the staff were polite, I was told that my fee paid was just for my room and not part of a spa package. This despite the fact that the website very clearly lists use of the pool/spa under the ‘what’s included’ section. I suggested that a discount on my room felt appropriate but was told that this was not going to happen because I had received what I paid for. This was supposed to be a really special 24 hours away but has been completely ruined. I feel that this was mis sold. The spa is open to non residents and clearly is very popular in school holidays. But there is no way to book a slot and we were not advised that the spa was likely to be unavailable to us. I feel strongly that I was mis sold to. So my relaxing 24 hours in a spa hotel was reduced to spending the afternoon watching TV in our room. I would not wish to return. Such a shame as it has the potential to be a nice place. Bed and Breakfast was around £250. Worth it for a hotel with a spa, but not worth bit for a fairly run of the mill room with no spa access.

Positive experience: We are back from a lovely break visiting family on the south coast. This hotel advertises itself as Luxury and dog friendly... and it is definitely dog friendly and high quality, though we'd argue its luxury adjacent! Its a lovely setting and a great building, with access to walks around the huge grounds and 3 restaurants on (or close to) the main hotel. The hotel is genuinely, properly, entirely dog friendly. Your dog, as long as well behaved, can go everywhere but the spa and gym... and why would your dog want to have a workout? Our boy was relaxing. And I don't think he'd enjoy the hot tub anyway! Check in staff were friendly, the reception has a lovely open fire and the smell of wood and flames was so welcoming on arrival. Carpark is huge, although can get full of puddles in the rain. Room was warm and comfortable, a good king sized bed (which looked like it could also be made up as a double), lovely quality teas, tasty shortbread, bottle of water, Nespresso machine and robes in the room. Fee for dogs is £30 a stay which is about fair IMO, I don't think cleaning after a dog ever runs to more than that unless there's a problem, and I believe that this hotel charges fairly for the slightly extra effort and airing that housekeeping need to do. You get a very nice dog bed for the stay, a dog towel, a bowl and some treats. All with a little "dog in room" sign you can use in the event you might need to leave your dog in the room for a short period. The restaurant accommodated our dog well, as he's a nervous nelly, and gave us a table where he could lie calmly tucked away in the corner. He came for breakfast with us, we walked the grounds first thing (not lit at night so take a torch!) and our room opened directly onto a small, enclosed grassy garden area. Genuinely the most dog friendly and considerate hotel we've stayed in so far The food was good in the evening. All of the meats are from the estate where there is a farm, and our food was tasty and served quickly. Because the hotel is so dog friendly, there are quite a few dogs so breakfast took some navigating, especially when not all dogs are good with other dogs (our dog isn't but tends to hide rather than bark). Something to be aware of if your dog is a bit reactive. Breakfast has a continental selection that spread down the middle of the room with juices, water, yoghurt, cereals, fruits, breads and pastries. You ordee hot food to the table. Breakfast was tasty. The coffee, however, was poor. Coffee at breakfast was serve yourself Nespresso pod machines, of which there are two temperamental machines. Quality lacking. Give me bean to cup or filter. The gym was well equipped with modern cardio equipment, a decent (if not extensive) dumbbell set, and a good selection of weights machines . As hotel gyms go, this is a high quality one, but they sell memberships and I'm not sure its something id pay the large (£100) per month fee for (no squat rack, two benches, no Smith, one cable, small set of kettlebells etc) but as a hotel gym, its excellent. We didn't make the spa on this occasion but the pool area looked nice and clean. Prices seemed in line with what you'd expect from such a place, not excessive but not cheap, and one of the restaurants/ cafe areas is right there. The only things that would bump this into gebuine luxury: - softer towels/ robes - some fixtures in the room were broken or missing - newer television with ability to log in or cast - plug sockets with USBs - plug sockets by the beds - shower head looks old and cheap - door felt a little flimsy - better coffee at breakfast, served to the table But on the whole we had a lovely stay and would absolutely stay again.

Negative experience: I wasn't staying at the hotel, but I meet up with a friend at the bar and grill for a sandwich and tea. We had a sausage and a bacon sandwich. The sausage and bacon was almost non existent and the bacon was reheated and disgusting. At £8 a sandwich you should be ashamed to serve this food to anyone.

Positive experience: Cute rooms, good gym and pool facilities, and decent dining options. Bar and seating areas throughout the property are with fun decor, comfy seats, and generally feels quite old school money nice place to be!

Fantastic experience: We stayed for 2 nights in one of five cottages. There beautiful so cannot comment on rooms in actual hotel. Didn't use pool or leisure facilities next time maybe. Please be aware dogs are allowed most places even the restaurant. Personal choice if you agree or not but at least you know when your having breakfast. Staff lovely credit to Claire and Gareth and staff on reception. A little tip for the people who run the hotel is some soft music both in the evening and breakfast to add some ambience and atmosphere would be nice not just a radio at the top of the area and reception too with some nice scented smells and a welcome water container with fruit inside like some top hotels have. The cottages are self contained so no room service etc you supply your own food or walk 5 mins into hotel for eating. Cottages are amazing . A courtesy car is supplied to goodwood house from hotel. Thankyou for such lovely memories.

Negative experience: The Hotel itself is beautiful .. staff are very professional BUT I did not enjoy the experience. Arrived late .. battled to get some sleep .. not very restful .. then seeing as the TV in my room did not work and there was limited WIFI I sat in the lounge for 2 hours waiting for breakfast. Would have been better to just wait in my vehicle which sort of means that the whole paying for a good night's sleep at a hotel is a waste of time and money ?? A colleague of mine had the same experience in his room.

Positive experience: It was a disappointing stay, the hotel doesn't live up to the standard of other areas of the Goodwood Estate. Since there was a heatwave we specifically asked about aircon since we had our baby with us- the aircon was not working and we were offered a fan. The room seemed to be hotter than outside resulting in very little sleep. Not good enough for a £250 nightly price. The rest of the hotel is tired, food was pretty good and staff were fine. We did contact customer services but were offered a small discount on another stay. Such a shame it would have been an excellent regular short get away for the family

Fantastic experience: Stayed here for the first time, some aspects are a bit tired and could do with an update as for the price of my stay I didn't expect threadedbare carpets! Another coffee machine at breakfast would be useful as waiting to get a coffee which you make yourself was a bit frustrating. Staff and service were excellent as was the meals I enjoyed here, great dinners and breakfast.

Negative experience: Don't waste your money The Goodwood Hotel is NOT on par with the rest of the Goodwood brand it's more Motel than Hotel. Despite paying upwards of £350 for a suite the bathroom was dirty with broken loose tiles on the floor. Another guest was complaining about ants in their room. The Farmers restaurant is a joke terrible service at dinner £45 for a cold steak and when asked if it could be warmed up it came back cold again. No bar staff in the bar waited for 20 mins for someone to turn up. Save your money and stay somewhere else this place is for people doing flying and track days or on a corporate day. Shamefully bad!

Positive experience: Not quite what it used to be... 3.5 stars feels fair, but Google wouldn't let me add a half star. My partner and I have stayed at Goodwood 4/5 times over the last 10 years, and also visited just for dinner at FBC. We have just returned from a 2-night stay, following our wedding reception and sadly, on this occasion, it just wasn't as good as it has been previously - especially for the price!!! We paid £500 on a b&b basis for 2 nights in a king room, booked through booking.com We checked in late, but had prearranged this directly with the front desk. The chap who checked us in wasn't the friendliest, but it was smooth and he did escort us to our room and take our bags. The room was well appointed, with iron and board, seating space, large wardrobe. Bed was particularly large and comfortable, but there were no accessible sockets anywhere near the bed. The TV made an awfully annoying buzzing noise when in use and the bathroom was a little lacklustre - the pressure and temperature of the shower were also lacking and tricky to set. Housekeeping came in whilst we were out after our first night, and took away previous towels and only replaced them with 1, so we had no hand towels at all and no 2nd bath towel for guest 2. Day 1 we ordered breakfast as room service, this arrived on time, was a good temperature and the items on the cooked breakfast were good quality. Just missing little touches, like sugar for coffee, teaspoons and butter for toast. Day 2 breakfast was so much of a disaster, we got up and left after 15 minutes. The restaurant where they serve has nowhere near enough space for the hotel capacity. We were shown to a dirty table outside on the courtyard, by a server who said he'd come back with some cutlery if he could find any and to take our order.... We didn't see him again. Went inside to scope out the continental buffet, 90 mins before end of service and there was nothing left and a huge queue of people waiting. Very frustrating we didn't get to enjoy breakfast for the cost we paid - they definitely need to come up with a better solution for this when the hotel is busy. Dinner at Farmer, Butcher, Chef was pleasant, but again, not quite what it has been before. Menu was good, nice wine list, staff were friendly, nothing was wrong per se, it just wasn't as good as previous visits. We also grabbed lunch in the bar and grill on one day, and a couple of drinks in the FBC bar - mediocre and CRAZY expensive. £42 for 2 sandwiches and 2 soft drinks at the bar and grill, and £34 for 2 G&T in the bar! Housekeeping staff we walked past in the corridors all smiled and said hello as we passed. A shame it didn't live up to previous visits, won't rush back, as I feel for the money, there are other local offerings which provide better.

Fantastic experience: We attended a family lunch (approx 20 of us) at Farmer Butcher Chef. The staff were incredibly tentative and the food was delicious. The children and dogs were also made to feel very welcome. We later retired to the cottages over the road and enjoyed a garden party. The accommodation is heart warmingly homely and clean as a whistle. The ideal place for our family to celebrate a special occasion.

Negative experience: Difficult to find, very poor communication ahead of booking, - booking details not confirmed by email, asked to select meal choices ahead of reservation in restaurant for party, not confirmed and menu had changed, advised on arrival, children's choices not available and no options for their starter at all, adult starters all very poor, mains were cold, puddings were good. Not the quality expected. miscommunication between staff, no management on site to rectify, eventually offered discount due to poor experience - not the service or experience expected as advertised at the expensive rates. Avoid if you can....

Fantastic experience: Set in the beautiful grounds of the goodwood estate and a mere 2 mins drive from the historic raceway, this 4* hotel lives upto its name. With a large carpark and beautiful grounds surrounding it, this hotel offfers superb dinning as well as a fully stocked gym and spa. The swimming pool is large and also has a jacuzzi with steam room and sauna to use as part of your hotel room price. Rates are very reasonable and rooms offer large size suites with super king size beds. Staff are very attentive and keen to assist and please. Two on site restaurants are available with a separate bar area should you just want a drink. Food choices are good and staff are keen to suggest items should you struggle to choose. Local Goodwood beer is on tap, worth choosing. Food arrived in good time, had wonderful taste and portions are of good size. Overall, this place is great for a weekend treat away and brilliant as a stop over should you going to an event at the raceway as we did. Definitely a location we would visit again when in the area

Fantastic experience: Wonderful family stay to celebrate my husband's birthday. I wanted somewhere with activities for our 3 young sons, good food and beautiful surroundings. The Goodwood Hotel ticked all the boxes. The staff were all lovely, super friendly and helpful. Our children never felt like a nuisance which made our stay relaxed and happy. Fantastic experience: What can I say?! Our first contact with the Goodwood Hotel was by phone on a Friday evening between Christmas and New Year and we were in a panic! We had come away for a weekend with our teenage daughters and dog but had been let down by another hotel in Arundel. After a 5 hour drive from Devon we were hungry, tired and desperate for somewhere to stay! Lina took away all the worry in a moment with her calm telephone manner and exemplary service finding us not one but two rooms that interconnected and had them ready within 30 minutes of our call! The rooms were fabulous, as was the first class service and food. They really have thought of everything! The gym, pool, spa, grounds … perfect! We will be returning soon! Thank you Lina for producing a tiny miracle for us and saving Christmas!

Fantastic experience: Myself and my husband stayed here with our dog for three nights during December. The room was tastefully furnished and the bed extremely comfortable. There was a clean dogs bed provided, which my dog loved and bowls and treats. I used the leisure facilities every day during our stay and they were fantastic. The gym had modern machines which were in a good and clean condition and the swimming pool, sauna and steam room were thoroughly relaxing. We had breakfast every morning which was exquisite. The full cooked breakfast made with stock from the estate's own farm tased exceptional and the range of fresh berries, gluten free cakes, pastries and nuts on offer were amazing. But what stood out the most about this hotel were the extraordinary staff. They couldn't do enough for you and they did it politely and with a smile. Whether it be the reception staff who were very helpful, or the groundsmen who were always ready to offer assistance whilst walking the estate, to the waiting staff in the breakfast restaurant who made us and our dog feel so welcome. The staff really make the Goodwood hotel stand out from the rest and are a credit to the estate.

Negative experience: A very pleasant and professional greeting from reception on arrival and what appeared to be a pleasant room. However, the hotel is extremely tired with thread bare carpets, dirty chairs, rotten windows, uneven flooring, disgusting toilets (next to the bar and grill restaurant) and generally In a poor state for £200 per night.! The 'Farmer Butcher Chef' restaurant was closed due to a private party. We ate in the 'Bar and Grill' which was comparable to a caravan park club house in our opinion (apart from the price). Very limited menu - badly decorated- no atmosphere - poor service by inexperienced staff - bland, overpriced food (we're talking a very average burger and chips and a dry chicken pie) accompanied by a £12 medium size glass of wine....! Plus we had the pleasure of Dogs around us as that's now considered acceptable in a restaurant..!? Surely there should be a specific area for pet owners..!? We've stayed in many hotels but this is the first where we've gone back to our rooms before 9pm...! Separate beds pushed together, knackered old TV, were constantly woken by banging doors in the night (no soft close) and then found a ladybird infestation behind our curtains in the morning.... Lovely..! The full English breakfast was good and breakfast service pleasant. I reported our experience at checkout and recieved a 10% discount. Hopefully this review will shake the place up as I cannot understand why ANYONE would come here....

Positive experience: We stayed at the Goodwood for three nights over October Half-term. We booked directly with the hotel & booked a King Garden room & paid extra to have an additional bed for our daughter. We found the booking easy and although more expensive than a booking site, we felt it was worth doing. We had a call a few days before asking if we would like to book any additional services, spa restaurants etc. We arrived early to use the pool and the facilities were lovely. When time to check-in, no additional bed had been put into the very small king garden room, I think the receptionist could see it wouldn't work so we were shown to a suite which accommodated us better this was an upgrade & we were very grateful for. We booked the Bar & Grill for two nights & had planned to book the Farmer, Butcher Chef for the last evening. When asked if anyone had any food allergies/ intolerance etc I explained that I did but to keep simple if I could just have 2 pieces of fish & vegetable with no artificial anything added I would be fine. I have to say the reception staff could not have been more accommodating, they really went above & beyond to help sort this out. The breakfast at the Farmer Butcher Chef was incredible, they provided me with an excellent alternative. My family indulged in the buffet & cooked the Breakfast was five stars. The breakfast service, staff, everyone were really great, exceptional ! Well done! Which leads on the the evening meal & sadly this then is where the Goodwood is really let down! The Bar & Grill was a disaster despite the reception team personally sorting out food for me it did nit equate in practice, the Bar & Grill is poorly managed with crazy slow service in a very quite dining room. Our waiter was new but great despite this, For someone who absolutely loves food having intolerance is awful and the anxiety I get worrying if the food will be OK is so stressful. Despite the staff assuring me the kitchen knew what was arranged it took three attempts to get food out to me that would not cause me issues serving the same piece of dry fish on two occasions. I ended up eating after everyone else. My dish was really simple it was not hard but they made the whole experience painful. I couldn't have been more disappointed. We still paid in full but I left hugely disappointed. The food my family ate was fine. We did not eat in there again. The management on the night was poor, as mentioned some of the staff were new, our waiter was lovely and for him to have so many issues was tough but he was great in the way he handled it, however we noticed there was not a good staff atmosphere with the team, the female manager seemed to make the new staff very nervous. After this experience we booked Bill's in Chichester the next night and in contrast they could not have been more accommodating the food was excellent, nothing was too much trouble. We then booked the Farmer Butcher Chef for the last evening. I appreciate this is a meat dominant restaurant and the fish or other alternatives not their ethos maybe. But this is the hotels main restaurant so I feel could be better. Once again the staff were great at the restaurant. My husbands food was amazing five stars! So beautifully presented, he had pork, it was a big piece of meat & he thought it was absolutely delicious. My daughters food again was lovely well presented. I'd asked for Cod & Brocoli they served with a brown lemon butter sauce which was delicious, the fish though beautifully cooked was such a crazy small portion about 10cm, a childs portion in my opinion & therefore disappointing. I had expected three times this portion or at least be the same as a meat portion. In conclusion we would stay at the Goodwood again breakfast was definitely the best mealtime. Rooms & bedding so comfortable. Staff were really polite. The restaurant is the reason for our Three star review.

Positive experience: Would not go back. Reminded me of the Crossroads Motel. The rooms were fairly basic for the price, bathroom was very small. Breakfast was a bit hit and miss to say the least. The flagship restaurant, Farmer, Butcher, Chef was terrible, the staff need training , they are mainly very young and inexperienced, We waited 25 mins to be offered a menu, even though the majority of the staff seemed to be busy doing nothing. My starter included a crab bisque being poured over the dish but I had to ask for a spoon. Both main courses arrived cold, we sent them back, We later found out that we weren't the only ones to be served a cold meal that evening. I suspect they were then microwaved. The meat was very tough and chewy, the course was very poor in general. I paid a supplement for the cheeseboard, which involved estate made cheeses, they were basically tasteless. The only highlight was the wine and the young lady who served us, she was extremely knowledgeable and engaging. The restaurant would not survive a month if it was anywhere else. It has a captive market consisting of locals and guests. The hotel is not up to its four star rating and clearly lives on the Goodwood name.

Negative experience: Quite an expensive place to stay. I suspect the prices are geared for rich petrolheads attending the festival of speed or those going to the horse racing. The place is in great decorative order, looking like it has had a refit in recent times. The letdown is the 1980s style level of plug sockets in the bedroom hadn’t been addressed by the refit. I think there were three at the dressing table, already in use for the kettle, tv (whose remote didn’t work) and coffee machine. There were none by the bed and the lamps used the little plugs (5amp?) that are no use for anything else. I think those were used back in the day to stop customers "stealing" electricity. Fawlty towers mentality. I would advise bringing a 4 gang extension.

The Goodwood estate offers a great deal of options for a stay with us from the Motorcircuit, Aerodrome, Racecourse, the hotel and much more, including our own sustainable farm located a short walk away from the hotel, I do hope you had the opportunity to explore these whilst you were visiting.
I am sorry that you did not find aspects of the facilities in your room to be as up to date as possible, we are working on this.

Fantastic experience: I have stayed and Goodwood hotel many times. Had great parties there to. This time i had lunch on the terrace of the golf club just at the 18th hole. Goodwood has alot to offer but than i have grown up with Goodwood all my life.

Negative experience: The hotel is not clean Paid £300 a night for a room yet the cleaners could not even be bothered to clean our room. We went out returned at 3pm to find no one had tried to clean our room....when speaking to house keeping offered to clean while we were in room but as we were about to go out just asked for towels and cups to be replaced in meantime...... 15 mins later someone came to give us new towels, but didn't take dirty ones. Didn't bring cups.... another 15 mins..... came back with 1 cup for 2 guests, when pointing this out was asked if we need another? Went out again, came back 2 hours later..... still not cleaned, dirty towels in bathroom. Empty bottles of wine and cans on drink in corridor..... I have a young child who was trying to pick these up, walked past them in the same place..... only got removed at 9pm when I finally lost patience and complained. Absolute joke.....£300 a night, not a clue.

Negative experience: Stayed one night, arrived after a 3 hour drive, and decided to use the Goodwood bar and grill. Big mistake, the food was less than average with small portions. The waitress, although very pleasant, was very unprofessional, had no idea what the menu details were, and got the drinks wrong. Went to bed slightly disappointed, but couldn't sleep due to the wedding disco that was banging out below my room. Tried to watch TV but the tv only had one channel. All in all, not happy. Explained this to the reception staff the following morning and got no reaction whatsoever. Never again.

Fantastic experience: Impeccable service even before we arrived, calling to ask if there was anything we needed, managed to get an early check in and late check out. Rooms very comfortable and well appointed. Included breakfast was also very good too

Negative experience: The hotel relies very much on where it is rather than what it is. It's nice but nothing special. The breakfast is all fluff and no substance. The cook breakfast was pretty tasteless. The buffet is essentially croissant and bread with lotsittles bits pointlessness. Personally I didn't think overall it was worth £250 .

Positive experience: Nice hotel but felt a bit run down in particular the swimming pool complex. It can be quite confusing to find your way around, I would have benefited from an arrow pointing to Health Club Reception as an example. On site restaurants were good and despite no allergen markers on the menu everything I asked for could be made gluten free.

Positive experience: My recent stay at Goodwood Hotel left much to be desired, considering the reputation and pricing associated with the establishment. While the room itself was pleasant, albeit a bit overpriced, my experience with the breakfast service was highly disappointing. Upon entering the restaurant, I encountered confusion among the staff regarding seating arrangements, which was not a promising start. The coffee machine was out of order, and despite the staff's efforts, there seemed to be a lack of organization and attentiveness. The service was notably slow, and once seated, I noticed the table was not properly cleaned, and the cutlery appeared dirty. These oversights were concerning, reflecting a lack of attention to cleanliness and detail. The cooked English breakfast, while edible, was served lukewarm and did not meet the expected standard of quality for a hotel of this caliber. The overall experience fell short of the high expectations set by the Goodwood name, especially considering the premium price paid for accommodation and dining. It's evident that the staff at Goodwood Hotel would benefit from additional training and support to deliver the level of service and hospitality expected from such a renowned establishment. Improvement in these areas would significantly enhance the guest experience and uphold the reputation of Goodwood Hotel as a destination known for excellence.

Fantastic experience: I stayed for 2 nights stay at The Goodwood Hotel and we absolutely loved it. This is the best dog friendly hotel I've stayed in. Every part of the hotel (excluding the health spa) is dog friendly. It was so lovely being able to bring our dog to breakfast, lunch and dinner with us. The staff are really polite, friendly and also love the dogs too. Any time I stay at a hotel I always look forward to the breakfast and the goodwood hotel served the best breakfast I've had I'm a hotel. The food is top quality and the butcher, farmer, chef restaurant where breakfast is held is such a gorgeous room. We really loved our stay and we would love to return. Thank you for having us.

Positive experience: Excellent service at check-in, was able to find a car park space easily. Arrived late in the evening did find the car park poorly lit when walking to the hotel reception. Nice room that was spacious and well decorated including the bathroom. A very comfortable and cosy stay. Reception areas had some really nice seating areas to relax. Fantastic experience: Had a 2 night stay with my other half for a belated celebration of valentines. Was greeted in our room by chocolates and a welcome note by the staff which was wonderful. Food, service and grounds were lovely. Definitely would love to stay again. Only downfall was the pool wasn't working for a day we were there but other than that, great!

Fantastic experience: We were there for a night of fun with the company. Drinks, a good dinner and some entertainment provided by the company. The grounds are amazing and you will enjoy a walk around. We had a 3 course meal that was good but I would have expected a higher quality of the food and the service to be honest. The chutney served with the appetizers was really sour and did not match the dish. The gravy served with the roast beef had no taste and no seasoning but the beef was really good. The lemon tarte served with the raspberry sorbet was the only thing that I truly enjoyed from all the meal.

Fantastic experience: Great set up if you want to visit somehwere nice with a dog, super friendly with dog bed and treats. Dogs allowed in some of the rooms (book early), bar and the farmer-butcher-chef restaurant (for dinner and breakfast) At breakfast there was a special "dog" room where we were seated away from the food - good idea. A couple of easy walks around the grounds, with loads more if you venture off piste

Fantastic experience: My wife and I just returned from a long weekend and I must say it was excellent. All the staff were fantastic and very polite and helpful, the food was lovely, the rooms were spacious and well maintained and the facilities were excellent, it was one of the best weekends away we have had. Just a couple of things to mention though, a toilet brush beside the toilet would be useful and an extension lead in each room would also help, despite this minor oversight I can't recommend this place enough... Negative experience: Family have been members for over 30 years and seen a steady decline. Now run by the Goodwood Estate, it is worse than ever. There is a total disregard by the owners to quality or customer care. Staff are mistreated with no thought to loyalty. It is a shame to see just how bad it has become, paintwork pealing from the windows and anything to avoid spending money on upkeep. The total opposite to what it should be. Worth avoiding if you don’t want to be disappointed.

During your loyalty to the club you will have no doubt seen some substantial changes and upgrades to the hotel and the estate, to ensure our guests and members receive the very best exceptional service they expect and deserve, which is why I am surprised to receive your review rather than direct contact.
Throughout the estate we find that our staff are extremely loyal and hard working particularly at the hotel where we celebrated two team members loyalty of 37 and 25 years just last month.
Our maintenance team work hard on a continuous cycle on the upkeep of the hotel, however as I am sure most people would appreciate with a 91 bedroom hotel which operates throughout the year at full capacity this can be challenging in itself.
If you do decide to reconsider and visit us again during one of your regular visits to GRRC events, please do contact me directly and I will ensure you are looked after during your time with us.

Fantastic experience: 2 day golf package included an overnight in the hotel. The reception & restaurant/bar staff couldn’t have been more friendly or helpful. The room overlooked a grass courtyard with bee hives. It was spacious, quiet, well equipped including a pod coffee machine & had very soft towels/bathrobes. My only criticism was there were no USB plugs or normal plugs by the bed which made using your phone as an alarm a bit awkward. Highly recommend.

Positive experience: Imagine if, having never stayed in a hotel in your life, you saw a picture of a hotel, a really nice one in a delightful country setting, and you decided to build and run a hotel. The Goodwood Hotel might be what you get. It is pretty, artistically done and in a beautiful South Downs setting. It sadly doesn't work well as a hotel. You want simple things like to be able to have a shower (one towel between two), plug in your phone to charge (no socket), to get to sleep (no switch for the light: just yank out of the wall) and to stay asleep (no soft close doors: our corridor like the percussion section playing the 1812). In the morning you can bond with other guests playing hunt the breakfast room and then queue for the one coffee machine. With some strong management and attention to detail this could be amazing. It currently is not. One night king w/ breakfast. GBP225.

Our front desk team would have been more than happy to help with your concerns, each room will have an ample selection of towels available the extras are kept in the wardrobe so not to take up too much room in the bathroom, extention leads can be provided if required too. I am sorry if you found some of the fire doors close to your room noisy apon closing, we have recently carried out our annual fire door service which identified the repairs required, we have also recently upgraded our coffee machines at breakfast to meet with our guest demands.

Fantastic experience: Lovely room, overlooking wild grass court. Super pool, sauna and steam room. The restaurant “Farmer Butcher Chef” is expensive but food is high quality. Breakfast, served in another restaurant, was pleasant but the English breakfast was only ok - dry bacon, watery eggs, very strong coffee. Throughout the service was excellent and attentive.

Fantastic experience: Lovely staff, generally functional but comfortable accommodation, perfect for the Motor Circuit and Goodwood venues. The Farmer, Butcher, Chef restaurant is a jewel, and the style set there is gradually permeating the rest of the hotel as it gradually updates.

Negative experience: Having had a great experience at Goodwood House (10th June), we decided to book again, for our daughter's 21st birthday - unfortunately the swimming pool will be closed, which we were made aware of following our reservation. When requesting for a consideration to be made to the cost we were advised that we could use an alternative hotel's pool (normal circumstances fair enough) however, after explaining that our soon is autistic and that this would be not be suitable - we were offered the option to move our booking (pointed out that I can't move my daughter's birthday!!!), the suggestion was then made that 'we could take him in our bus'. Not a very customer centric, or compassionate view to take on a very specific set of circumstances. Sadly we have had to cancel our booking as I can't justify giving money to an organisation that refuses to 'flex' and doesn't understand the considerations that need to be made to an individuals situation.

As you discussed with our reservations team, we have made it as seamless as possible to let everyone know at their booking stage regarding the impending essential and necessary works to the pool area of the hotel. The works are very invasive and are required for health and safety reasons, but also to cosmetically enhance the area. The extended works require complete draining of the pool in order for the electricity and air-handling works to be completed, including the installation of a new steam room and sauna, the works are planned to take two weeks.

By advising everyone at the point of booking, we hopefully can give our guests the opportunity to take an informed decision regarding their booking, and as you say the confirmations sent also re-confirm this message. We have numerous alternative arrangements available, we have made arrangements for our guests to receive a pass to use the pool facilities in a local hotel, and we can even offer transport to and from the hotel in our of our luxury electric SUV vehicles or our electric hotel minibus that can accommodate up to 8 people.

We have also given our guests the opportunity to move their reservation or cancel this altogether and I am glad that our team offered these alternatives to you.

The scope of the works would not allow us to open the pool for even a couple of days during the planned closure period as it takes in excess of two full days to fill the pool and get it to the right temperature for use. These works have been in the planning for some time and by no means are intended to interrupt anyone's individual needs.

There is never a good time to carry out these essential jobs and hence we have given all of our guests the opportunity to decide their own course of action, well in advance of their stay.

I am sorry that on this occasion the alternative options offered to you were not suitable.

Negative experience: Attended Goodwood Hotel for a friend’s birthday. The venue is set in a stunning location and the exclusivity of Goodwood made it feel special. However, the stand out for the evening was two horrendously arrogant and badly trained bar staff. Things I noted: Told a party goer they had run out of Lemonade. Then proceeded to bring out four bottles after said customer had walked away. A customer asked for Cider and they were served Lager, in a Cidar glass. Generally distracted and very slow service. Told my wife they were going outside to ‘collect their thoughts’ so would be away from the bar for 5/10 minutes. Felt a lot like those ‘thoughts’ were going up their nose! Some of the worst bar service I’ve ever experienced and certainly expect more from Goodwood. Imagine leaving the bar unattended for 5/10 minutes. Leaving easy access to the drinks and the till by anyone. You get better service in a Wetherspoons quite honestly. They both need firing. You can’t re-train that bad a service! Sort it please, Goodwood.

Fantastic experience: Had a one night stay here for our anniversary. Had one of the character rooms which was beautiful, with a fabulous bathroom with huge bath and walk in shower. There were steps going down into the room, which did actually make the room feel really cosy, but just had to be mindful of them. Enjoyed an early morning swim and steam room session.

Positive experience: Loved the Goodwood hotel. It did take me awhile to get used to it and find my room without getting lost in the hotel lol. The location is ideal to me, near what I wanted but it’s a little bit far from the central. Clean and comfortable beds, superb staff

Positive experience: The rooms are OK, but the bed is terrible. You can feel the springs in the mattress and a double bed is made of two single mattresses put together. Hence you cannot sleep in the middle of it but have to stay on one side. Breakfast is really on the low average. Croissants come straight from the packet without even being warmed up and the cooked breakfast is just acceptable. As far as the SPA, the steam room was out of order when we went, which is a shame because it's my favourite part of a spa weekend. The facial treatment was excellent and so were the products I purchased. The staff is excellent, very polite and helpful, they drove us the the Kennels and back and the location is fantastic. Kennels dinner was amazing. But I'll leave a separate review on that.

Fantastic experience: Both dinner and breakfast were excellent. The food was good and the service was fine. Unfortunately, the actual restaurant area seemed to be a little dated. We also managed to get to the health club the following day and were really pleased that a day membership was included with the booking. Fortunately, we were upgraded as we arrived as it was our 25th wedding anniversary. The room was spacious and we had French doors out to a relatively private terrace. We would have no hesitation in recommending the Goodwood Hotel and would even encourage potential guests to walk the grounds during their stay.

Fantastic experience: Beautiful hotel! Stayed here for a birthday treat, and we couldn't have been happier. The room was a great size with thick curtains so we slept well in the super comfy bed. It had a lovely bathroom with gorgeous Ren bath products. The staff were welcoming and helpful, offering maps when we left for walks around the stunning grounds. Highly recommend the breakfast too which has good-quality local produce, particularly after we made use of the pool and sauna / steam rooms. Great value and we'll be back!

Negative experience: After staying here we were very disappointed with the hotel in general. Rooms were average and our first room was very poor being grubby and with cob webs and peeling paint, plug socket hanging out of the wall etc. We specifically booked because of the pool but again very disappointing as it was very busy all the time with lots of kids and and also none hotel guests or sports club members? ( probably golfers wives?) watching their kids In the few seats and beds they had! So no where to sit or lie down. We did try a few different times same story. Also the pool edge and area was dirty and missing pool tiles ( health and hygiene ) The Bar and Grill was OK, Staff great, but over priced for what we had for dinner £20 for a small pork dish tasty as it was and £16 for a Caeser Salad main which was poor. We had been given a free room upgrade as our first stay was so disappointing with the above issues so these comments are from both visits. We asked for a none pet room as we understood the hotel was dog friendly which we got? Upgraded to a character room with 2 shabby bathrobes! We were shocked to see that when we went for breakfast that the restaurant was with hotel guests and their dogs at the tables and not only that the members of the sports club also walking through with their dogs and many of them and I know it's human nature but restaurant staff petting and stroking them and then continuing their service duties handling food service and crockery items etc ( who knows if they washed their hands? ) It seems to us that members of the sports club are treated with more consideration by the hotel than actual paying guests! For around £250 for a 1x Starter and 2 x mains, a couple of drinks and standard room price for one night Inc breakfast was not vfm! We gave it a second go because of the free upgrade! We will not be going back!

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on your stay with us at the weekend, I am disappointed that your time here did not live up to your expectations and for that I would like to apologise.

As you have experienced the hotel is an extremely busy and vibrant environment, which provides many facilities to ensure that all of our guests are catered for, the pool area can get busy with not only our hotel residents but also our Health Club members and swimming times for children are restricted so that it gives all of our visitors the opportunity to enjoy the facilities, I am sorry if this was not to your liking. I would like to point out and reassure you that our leisure facilities including the pool area are subject to a very stringent daily cleaning process which is quality checked throughout the day by the team.

We were able to upgrade your stay to a Character room, which speaks for itself, being one level down from our Suites we are proud that these room types offer a unique stay as you would expect from a four-star hotel, I do note your comment regarding the bathrobes, which is unusual and have passed it on to our Head Housekeeper for review.

Dogs are a huge passion of the Richmond family and therefore the hotel is a dog-friendly environment, including our restaurants, where we ask our guests to ensure that their furry friends are kept on a lead and out of harm’s way where possible. We do have a limited number of dog-friendly rooms which are cleaned to a thorough and strict process at the end of our furry friends stay. The team in the restaurant are very happy to welcome all dogs accompanied by their humans and are of course extremely cautious and always wash their hands thoroughly after having contact with any dogs that are visiting and before returning to their duties.

I am sorry if you felt that the cost of your meal in the restaurant was expensive, we have tried to keep our costs as low as possible and therefore have not changed these since your previous visit in September last year.

Once again, I would like to thank you for sharing your feedback here, on your time with us and I am sorry to learn that you will not be returning.

Positive experience: The restaurant is great, 5 star with amazing food, the grill does not have a lot of ambience and is full of dogs, 3 star at best. Hotel was excellent a few years ago but is starting to fade around the edges but prices are still on the high side.

Positive experience: An underwhelming hotel. A great location for the race course. The website over promises. The room was clean and comfortable as were the public areas. The hotel restaurant food was more like an expensive Brewers Fayre. Not what i would expect in a 4* hotel.

Fantastic experience: Beautiful hotel, friendly staff and really clean. The bedroom was amazing and they took care of the details. Shower soap and shampoo are provided and animal free cruelty. The restaurant is really beautiful and in the breakfast it was plenty of options and a big continental bar. I choose vegan breakfast with a nice scramble tofu.

Fantastic experience: We got married here on the 10th September 2022, it was a wonderful day, one we will not forget, we have a personal love for Goodwood and the surrounding area, the grounds are beautiful, the hotel is nice and clean, the service is great. We had a positive encounter with every staff member we met or worked with to make our wedding a reality. Our wedding Co-ordinator Ruby Noon was amazing, everything she did from start to finish was perfection, we could tell she cared about us and what we wanted, we are very thankful to have been so lucky to work with Ruby. The whole events team went over aboard for us, we are thankful for Brett and Lily who were at our beck and call all night. And we thank Rhiannon for being so understanding with us. We would highly recommend The Goodwood Hotel for your wedding, they met all of our requests and the day went smoothly, its something you only do once, but Goodwood did it very well. We will continue to visit Goodwood in the future, we thank Goodwood and the whole team there for giving us a special day.

Negative experience: My partner booked a night at the hotel for me and my mum as a treat as we have just had the arrival of our first baby. The intention was for me to relax. Unfortunately my experience felt far from that. He booked a twin room (I do not want to sleep in the same bed as my mother) yet when we finally discovered our room after getting lost several times we found a double bed. When we went down to recption to ask if the room could be changed it was not dealt with in the friendliess manner. The lady gave me a print out of what my partner would have received and told me it says on there, there would be double bed. It actually doesn't. Also that trying to find a twin room would be like 'playing a game if tettris'. We also couldn't get into the changing rooms with our room card, another guest helped. The room we stayed in was not to the standard of £150. Not that clean and similar to a premier Inn. At dinner the prices on the menu did not reflect our bill. It cost us more. When we asked about it we were told our waitress should have explained that to us. A complimentry glass of prosecco was given yet that did not cover the difference. Lastly on leaving we were not asked about our stay which I find odd. Had we been I could have said all this in person and perhaps not left a bad review.

I have asked our reservations manager to contact Booking.com to ensure that our bookings are working properly on their platform, as this is where the confusion was initiated regarding your room type, I am pleased that our reception host was able to move you to a twin room as originally required.
It is a shame that you both felt unable to speak with our reception host, whilst she was booking your taxi I believe you both took a seat on the sofa to await its arrival, so she assumed that you did not have any further comments to make, she has asked me to portray her apologies that you felt she did not look after you appropriately.

Positive experience: Ground floor room would be nice to have a net curtain, for privacy . The breakfast we had in the Butcher 's room was not to our liking at all. We ate for lunch, Dinner and must say the food was not good for the price.

Positive experience: Very cosy place which is extremely dog-friendly and with lovely staff. The Bar & Grill restaurant, where you also have breakfast, did seem a little short-staffed, so service could be a bit hit or miss, but thoroughly recommend nonetheless.

Fantastic experience: Had a wonderful meal at the Goodwood Bar & Grill. Stocked up a brilliant Green Room/Suite for an absolutely amazing band and used the facilities during the weekend. Great Gym, dining rooms, etc., etc., and the location, on the edge of Goodwood Estate was superb. Special shout out to the fleet of cars, giving an amazing shuttle service between the hotel, The Kennels, the racecourse and of course, the house!
