Phoenix Community Hub: Opinions
Fantastic experience: Had my 2 year old daughters party there at weekend, loved it. Age appropriate, great staff ,enough space. Little bit cold in cafe but fire was on. Plenty of car parking space. Would definitely come back for a visit and have a future party here.
Fantastic experience: A lovely space if you're looking for somewhere different for your under 5s to play. A variety of things to keep little ones entertained for a whole morning and nice refreshments when you need them provided by friendly staff.
Glad your little enjoyed it. Thanks for the review
Positive experience: Great for kids, not for coffee. We'll be going here again, but I'll be keeping to cold drinks. You're going here for the soft play, so the fact there's a passable coffee shop attached is just a bonus. The soft play is great for under 5s, easily the best one I've taken my 16 month old. The cafe has a few cold drinks and cakes. Nothing earth shattering, but it's pretty much a galley kitchen they're operating out of. Coffee: I had hope going in as they've got an OK set up and 200° beans. It might just have been the staff on the day I went in, but the coffee was not good. Dark roasted beans, over extracted (I think the machine was set too hot) and the milk for my flat white looked like it'd been steamed with a frother wand. Next time I'll pass on the coffee and just have one at home instead.
Fantastic experience: Lovely coffee & cake spot with awesome soft play for under 5s
Many thanks . We are a very small and simple setup but glad you enjoy coming
Fantastic experience: Hired venue Perfect for a small kids party
Hope you and a good time
Fantastic experience: Great little place. It needs more advertising.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed your visit
Positive experience: The hot chocolate is amazing but the only food they do is cakes and they are quite expensive. Great little place if you have small kids but not ideal if you have 3-5yr olds tearing about and small babies under 1 Yr But fab little place
Fantastic experience: Went here for Grandsons birthday party, small but very nice and great staff
Thanks for the kind words, hope you all had a nice time
Fantastic experience: I really like this place ideal for mums and dad's to take five mins with tasty coffee and nice cakes
Thanks for the kind words. Glad you enjoyed your visit
Fantastic experience: Great little unique place to take your children.. my daughter loved it here.. Will definitely be going back.
Fantastic experience: I've been really struggling to find place to take my tornado toddler as he gets very overwhelmed and overstimulated with play groups etc. A friend told me about Average Joe's so I thought I'd give it a try (I thought for £3 if he goes in and wants to go out after five minutes it's ok) He loved it!! We were there for nearly two hours in the end as he didn't want to leave. This place is brilliant, bouncy castle, soft play area, play kitchen, toys, a climbing slide and lots of sparkly lights. It's not a great big center and it's only for 5yrs and under, but that is what has made it so perfect for my little boy. The staff are lovely and friendly. The cafe is really nice for a little treat to. We will definitely be coming here on a regular basis from now on
Fantastic experience: Located in an industrial area near Great Railway Station, cafe with soft play area for under 5s for £2. Food options available and little outdoor seating area. My little one loved the bouncy castle and the variety of toys and fancy dresses. Quirky little cafe area with nice staff. Didn't use gym facilities.
Thanks for the kind words. Glad you have fun when you come
Fantastic experience: Brilliant place for young children
Fantastic experience: Great place, nice cafe, friendly owners and a Brill place for the children to play. 10/10
Many thanks - glad you enjoyed your visit
Fantastic experience: Hot drinks are delicious and the soft play is great for kids.
Many thanks - exciting plans coming for an even better experience we hope
Fantastic experience: Great place to visit - soft play for the little ones for only £3 and good quality coffee and hot chocolate for the big ones!
Many thanks, glad you enjoy coming
Negative experience: This morning I witnessed a pensioner accidentally spill a coffee at the counter, he was extremely embarrassed and incredibly apologetic, this fell on deaf ears, as his apology wasn’t acknowledged ! As a customer I then felt very disappointed to see the elderly gentleman be charged for another coffee.
Hi, we are sorry to see you have had an unsatisfactory visit to us. We pride ourselves on our service and are a little surprised when people review us so low. We have looked through our booking system and actually can't seem to find any booking or visit with your details. We'd be very grateful if you could help us identify when you came in and what went wrong so we can try and make amends.
Many thanks AJ's team
Fantastic experience: Very welcoming, perfect for a mid-morning visit for my little one. Not very busy on my visit, lovely staff. Will be returning soon!
Thanks and glad you enjoyed your visit
Fantastic experience: Great place for young kids
Thank you for the kind review
Fantastic experience: Love this place, a really classy coffee shop with fav coffee and cake combined with a lovely playspace for 0-5 year olds. Really chilled and lovely young woman serving who was really friendly and helpful. Lovely to have an inside bouncy castle too.
Thanks for your review - glad you like coming to us :)
Fantastic experience: Great find. Great soft play for under 5s and well priced food
Many thanks for your review - glad you enjoyed your time with us
Fantastic experience: It's OK to bring your young baby and toddler and the food is reasonably priced.
Many thanks :)
Positive experience: Great place for littlies with a nice cafe. We took my 15 month old for the 9am slot and she loved it.
Thanks for the review glad she had fun.
Fantastic experience: Very nice place all round for children and parents....lovely wood fire place and heating on making it very cosy and comfortable. Food and drinks very reasonably priced, keep up the good work!
Many thanks for the kind words
Fantastic experience: Absolutely fabulous little soft play perfect for babies. With a quirky little coffee area. Delicious cake and hot chocolate too. Highly recommended
Thank you for the kind words and the review!
Fantastic experience: Amazing place for under 5s. Great coffee too along with delicious food and desserts
Thanks for the kind review
Positive experience: Went for a 4th Birthday party. Very trendy place, bit dark and dingy but did the job. Cafe serves nice stuff and soft play keeps kids entertained but isn't a patch on those in surrounding areas.
Sorry to hear it left you underwhelmed, we very much aim the centre as play Cafe rather than a full Softplay so we are much smaller, less formal than other similar centres.
Fantastic experience: Great hidden gem to enjoy a quality coffee with your little one (s)..
Many thanks for the review
Fantastic experience: Been here for a few children birthday parties (3-4 years old). Play area looks basic but kids love it. Coffee is great quality and adult area is like a cafe and very cosy. Bathroom facilities are clean but in need of some refurbishment. Staff attitude is amazingly positive.
The toilet area is on our radar for this spring, so apologies for that. Glad you enjoyed your visit though
Fantastic experience: From the outside, Average Joe's looks like a random warehouse surrounded by other warehouses, but once you walk in it is nothing like what you would expect. As you walk in, you can see the area that they serve you food and drink (and pay for your childs entry into the soft play). The price for a child is very reasonable at £2 a child for as long as you wish to stay. They have plenty to eat and drink from fruit juice to milkshakes to Lattes and deluxe hot chocolates, and toast, to pizza, to wraps and pastries along with freshly made cakes and muffins. There is plenty of seating around the lounge with a few tables littered around. The soft play area itself has a ball pit and a bouncy castle along with plenty of toys and soft play mats. There is an area to dress up too. Through the next room there is also a full size gym that seems popular with plenty of equipment. The staff at Average Joe's are kind and funny and you can have a chat and a laugh with them. They do children's parties here but I do not know current pricing as my daughter had her birthday party here 3 years ago (and loved it).
Many thanks for the kind tevirw
Fantastic experience: Great coffee, an open fire and excellent facilities for children. Recommended
Positive experience: Took my grandson there, he loved it. He also loved my ham & cheese toastie. Nice clean place. Not very big which is great.
Positive experience: Nice place, but nowhere for adults to sit whilst kids play,
Fantastic experience: Really good for under 5s second time I have been and really good experience
Fantastic experience: Friendly and cosy. Small soft play for little ones and drinks have always been yummy
Positive experience: Ambient bit Wine bar.
Fantastic experience: Great place if with young children
Fantastic experience: Nice place to go when the weather is not so nice . Good coffee and cakes
Fantastic experience: Nice chilled area for adults and soft play for kids.
Fantastic experience: Brilliant
Negative experience: After visiting Average Joe's this morning we have decided never to return. The building was cold, staff were less than helpful, the play area was dirty, mugs were salty from the dishwasher, coffee and tea both weak and tasteless and the cakes looked very sad. After a disappointing hour there the staff then informed us that there was no facility to heat food for babies. Considering the website looks so professional and impressive I was extremely let down by the entire place.
Fantastic experience: Great quirky place!
Fantastic experience: Been here a few times with my 1 year old boy and we love it the play area is great for him to explore and the coffee shop is cheap and lovely staff are so friendly. Xx
Fantastic experience: Good food, good drinks, plenty for the kids to do and a nice place to meet friends.
Negative experience: When I actually found the entrance. Thought this wasn't that bad. But didn't feel very welcome. Soft play area was alright. Didn't have a gate at the entrance and there was kids running out in to the coffee area and one even managed to get out of the main door. Posted a picture of the entrance. So it's easier for others to actually find the way in
Positive experience: Great place for little ones. Really safe environment.
Positive experience: Where the hell are we was my first thought but once through the door and into the coffee area I was pleasantly surprised. Went here for a 3 year olds birthday party. Great play area that secure and only one way in and out (parents know how good this is). Coffee was good and the nutella hot chocolate nice too.
Positive experience: Great coffee.
Fantastic experience: A hidden gem
Fantastic experience: Really lovely little coffee shop with 0-5 year appropriate soft play. Reasonably priced food and drink, log burner, bouncy castle - what more could you want. My 2 kids love it here
Positive experience: Went there with our Grandchildren. They had a great time and we enjoyed watching them play while having a coffee. Would have given it 5 stars if there had been any Grandparent toys to play on. Toilets could do with a spruce up.
Fantastic experience: Lovely little soft play with great coffee!
Fantastic experience: Very quiet for the school holidays, cheap few hours of entertainment
Fantastic experience: Lovely space for the kids and a great cafe
Fantastic experience: Good coffee and the play centre is great for little ones
Fantastic experience: We love it here! We come everyweek. Great little place.
Positive experience: Not great requires a lot more work
Fantastic experience: went there for the first time today with my sister and our 2 yr old children, really nice relaxed atmosphere, love the shabby chic coffee shop, the coffees great and the man serving was really nice and friendly the kids really enjoyed all the different things to play with as it made a change from the usual soft play areas, would deffo recommend, and ill deffo be going back again :)
Fantastic experience: It was a very enjoyable experience, staff were very helpful and made everyone feel welcome. The food was delicious and well presented, we would definitely go again
Negative experience: Strange place. Neither one thing or another. Bodybuilders walk through the cafe where baby's and toddlers expect to play and eat.
Positive experience: Average in all aspects. The childrens play area is very small and limited - and you can't take drinks in so either supervise your kids or use the cafe which seems a bit counter intuitive. Price was average. Coffee was decent. Menu was limited.
Fantastic experience: Brilliant place to take your toddlers, never knew this place existed!! Will be going again regularly with my 2 year old.
Positive experience: I took my boys to Average Joe’s for a child’s birthday party and they both loved it. Plenty for them to do and they spent all of their time running from one thing to the next. Coffee is good and reasonably priced and the staff are friendly and more than happy to help. They had a log burner going so it was nice a toasty and comfortable to have a catch up with friends. Just bear in mind that you have to walk through a car park if you are on foot.
Positive experience: We like it. It is a play area with bouncy castle snd not a soft play. Nice feel with reasonable prices and you can bring your own food. Nice sofas and a log burner for adults. Tricky to find first time, don't trust the satnav
Fantastic experience: My little boy loves it xx nice little area for babies and toddlers
Fantastic experience: Great little place, good coffee and atmosphere. Our 1yr old enjoyed the play area, in particular the ball pit.
Positive experience: Very cold in the winter my son's hands were red. Enough to entertain them for a while but not what I expected from a soft play
Negative experience: A very nice place when its not busy, the age range is 0-5 I went today 03/01/18 and there where kids above 5 my little girl is unsteady on her feet anyway and they was just being kids but not ideal when there was new borns in there too. The childs play area needs a health inspection there is nothing on the corners of a storage unit to stop children bashing them self on it. (A child older then 5 would of been able to really hurt them selfs.
Negative experience: We generally love going here with 2 year old who enjoys soft play. Session spoilt with a number of much older children dominating play equipment and boystrous behaviour. Although age limit 5 years many of these children seemed older, not back at school until next week, letting off steam. We left early as play area poorly monitored. What a shame!
Positive experience: Hidden gem of a coffee shop. Excellent
Fantastic experience: Not as fancy as some "family cafés", but good coffee, very affordable pricing and the kids love the play area!
Fantastic experience: Average Joe's is my lads fave.....and with well priced and decent tasting coffee and cakes on offer....as well as a log burner on these cold days....it could be any better!!!
Fantastic experience: Staff are wonderful, my young nephew loved it. Food is really tasty and fresh.
Fantastic experience: Literally the best gym and cafe around
Fantastic experience: Fantastic fun place for the 5s
Fantastic experience: Great to take little ones
Positive experience: Small but well worth it compared to other softplay.
Fantastic experience: The Average Joe's cafe at NPC serves great coffee and hot chocolate in a really nice setting. It's impossible to leave without a hot chocolate after a gym session, they are absolutely incredible! Such a great addition to the gym.
