Our comment from FitFit UK about The Shrewsbury Club:
The Shrewsbury Club, now under the management of David Lloyd, offers excellent facilities and a friendly atmosphere. Members appreciate the clean and well-equipped gym, which includes a variety of classes such as Zumba, yoga, and tennis coaching. Many users have highlighted the fantastic instructors, particularly praising Sabina for her Zumba classes, which brighten up the week for many members.
However, some users have expressed disappointment regarding recent changes since the transition to David Lloyd, stating that the management does not seem to fully consider member feedback or the retention of highly booked classes. Additionally, there have been concerns regarding the communication and organization of the club, particularly around class bookings and membership renewals.
Despite some negative experiences, many members still enjoy the extensive range of classes, the on-site spa, and the supportive staff. The club is well-regarded for its facilities and the sense of community it fosters.
Key Highlights:
- Variety of classes including Zumba and yoga
- Clean and modern facilities
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Great on-site spa and restaurant
- Family-friendly atmosphere
Areas for Improvement:
- Need for better communication and organization regarding class availability
- Increased focus on member feedback on class timings and instructor preferences
- Concerns over membership terms and pricing

The Shrewsbury Club: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Zumba lessons with Sabina Zylch- they make my week. Can the gym please have more Zumba and belly dancing lessons with her? Fantastic instructor!!!
Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback Carmen! We're thrilled to hear that Zumba classes with Sabina make you week! We'll definitely pass this along to our Club Manager, we really appreciate it!
Negative experience: I used to love it here (when it was Shrewsbury Club) - they had one of the best Yoga classes I’ve attended on Sunday mornings - unfortunately now they’ve given little consideration to existing highly booked classes and have shoved tenured and valued instructors out of their class spots to prioritise the availability of their new class instructors… no vote has been given to members to retain original class times&it appears they are not taking into account any feedback given. The new classes taking this spot are no where near as booked up unsurprisingly and could simply be moved before and after the busier existing ones. Unfortunately they do not seem to be interested in listening to and actioning members feedback - especially when there is a perfectly feasible solution to do so.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback Rebecca. We’re sorry to hear about your disappointment and apologise for any frustration caused. We understand that you’ve been in touch with the Club team regarding this and that they have explained the situation further. However, we’ve escalated your feedback and requested that the team get in touch with you again to discuss this in more detail.
Fantastic experience: Love zumba with sabina, when is pool back up and running ro restart aqua zumba?
Hi Xiu, we’re so glad you’re enjoying Zumba with Sabina! The pool will be back in use once the refurb is complete. Please reach out to us at [email protected], and the team will be happy to share the upcoming class timetable and updates with you. Thanks for your patience!
Fantastic experience: Do you have zumba step classes with sabina ?
Hi there, to view our timetable, please visit the DLC app, thanks!
Fantastic experience: Love aqua Zumba and Zumba with Sabina!
Thank you for leaving us a 5 star review, we're so pleased you are loving classes with Sabina!
Fantastic experience: Sabina's Zumba and Aqua Zumba are my favourite, I hope you can add more classes with our instructor! Maybe even Zumba step?
Hi there, thank you for your feedback! We're so glad to hear you enjoy the classes with Sabina, we'll be sure to share this with the relevant teams.
Negative experience: I’m extremely disappointed with my experience at David Lloyd. When I joined, I was never shown the contract I supposedly signed, nor was I told that I would be locked into paying for an entire year even if I wanted to cancel. It feels like they deliberately hide this information there’s absolutely no flexibility and no fair way to cancel your membership. The reception staff are unhelpful and seem unable to resolve even basic issues. Every time I’ve asked to speak to someone from management, I’ve been told no one is available. The overall communication from the club is very poor it’s almost impossible to get a clear answer about anything. On top of that, the parking situation is terrible, always overcrowded and even dangerous at times. If you want to book a class, you have to do it at least a week in advance just to get a spot. Overall, the experience has been frustrating and disappointing. I would strongly advise anyone thinking about joining to read the fine print very carefully and be prepared for poor communication and limited support once you’ve signed up.
Hi Claudia, we're sorry to hear you are cancelling your membership. We do share the terms and conditions with all new members when joining us, we're sorry if you feel the cancellation terms weren't clear. You can find full terms and conditions on our website using the below link.
We can see you have spoken with one of our advisors to arrange your cancellation, if you have further queries you can email her back on the existing email chain.

Fantastic experience: Just attended the club after moving all studios and equipment into the tennis courts fot the big refurbishment and wanted to say what a sterling job. It look great and is functional. Well done to all the staff. Its going to be amazing.
Thank you for your 5 star review Julia! We can't wait for you to see the club once the refurbishment is complete!
Negative experience: Pool seemed cold. I would guess 26 degrees
Hi Michael, thank you for your review, we appreciate your feedback, we'll be sure to share this with the Club team.
Negative experience: Was a member for 7 years, but membership renewal hassle (David Lloyd membership take an age to reply & don't address questions) & cost of adding kids that were previously has meant I've ended up with a lapsed membership & no inclination to reactivate. Since David Lloyd took over, the place hasn't been the same anyway
Thank you for your feedback, we're really sorry to hear about your experience. We're unable to find your details using the username on your review, but we’d really like to help resolve this. Please contact us at [email protected] so the relevant team can help, thank you.
Fantastic experience: Great facilities. Excellent range of classes. On-site spa and restaurant. The more you use it the better value it is UPDATE 2025 -This review was written for The Shrewsbury Club. David Lloyd Clubs is a completely different and disappointing experience.
Hi Maria, we're sorry to hear you haven't had a positive experience, we'd like to understand where you feel we can improve. Please let us know at [email protected].
Fantastic experience: Shrewsburys No1 healthclub. Excellent facilities and improving all the time. Best part of this gym is the staff. Brilliant!
Hi, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review Ashley, we are delighted to hear that you are enjoying the Club!
Negative experience: Joined earlier in the year and I've had nothing but negative experiences since joining. The disruption caused by the transition to David Lloyd is not reflected in the membership price. When trying to contact David Lloyd regarding anything to do with membership on the app (they don't provide a contact number) they do not contact you back, i'm now on my 7th attempt in a week at trying to speak to someone. The gym is very overcrowded currently and there is very little space to do any of your own weight training. I find a large majority of the Personal Trainers have nothing better to do than stand around and complain about each other or other members of staff which isn't a very welcoming environment.
Hi Hope, sorry to hear you haven't had a positive experience. We are excited to be investing £11 million in the Club this year and hope you will find the plans as exciting as we do. Of course we understand if the disruption will cause too much inconvenience for you and are happy to discuss your membership. We can confirm our Membership Support Team have received your emails sent on the 19th and 21st August. Due to the increase in email enquiries response time is currently up to 10 days. A member of the team will get back to you as soon as possible, thank you for your patience.
Positive experience: Facilities are in transition but not too much disruption. Great range of classes which is why I joined, always good to add more.....really enjoyed the additional Step Zumba!
Thank you for your review Jenny, we're glad you haven't felt too much disruption to your normal routine!
Negative experience: If you want to go to a gym where every machine is full and the gym is overall overcrowded this is the one for you!
Hi Millie, we are sorry to hear your experience with us has not been a good one and appreciate you letting us know.
Negative experience: Since the changes of “ David Lloyd “ the club is not for the better unfortunately. It was an inclusive club but I feel not anymore . If it wasn’t for our amazing instructor Tracy I would not be a member . I just feel the rules and regs recently have been unfair and the children’s club holiday club been removed is a great shame. I will be looking elsewhere for a more inclusive club
Thank you for sharing your feedback Jodie. We're sorry to hear you feel this way and would like the opportunity to discuss your concerns further. We're unable to locate your membership details using the name on your review, so please contact us at [email protected], and the relevant teams will be in touch to support you.
Negative experience: Poor organisation, as an away team playing a tennis match here, there are no facilities for food and drink after the match which every other club in the league offers. Shame on you David Lloyd, it was much better when it was the Shrewsbury Club.
Hi Andy, we're sorry to hear you were disappointed, we have shared your feedback with the Club Manager.
Negative experience: Edit; formerly a great hub for Shropshire tennis, indoor amd out, but now the tennis facilities are being reduced so much, the centre is of no use to myself amd many others. Really sad.
Thank you for the great review!
Negative experience: I loved this gym when it was the Shrewsbury Club. Now that David Lloyd have taken it over is it destroying it. I am a jui jitsu student there and they decided to take it off, even though it is extremely popular. I have been going to these classes for 8 years now, and am distraught that they are taking it off. I am outraged and dislike David Lloyd very much. Would not recommend.
Hi Chloe, we’re sorry to hear this has caused some disappointment. Ju Jitsu will be removed from the timetable towards the end of August 2025 due to our exciting upcoming project to elevate the Clubs facilities. Whilst the work to the Club is ongoing our spaces will be more limited meaning the current space used for the class will not be available. Once the project is complete we will review our timetable with the possibility of restarting these classes early next year. We still have lots of fantastic family classes available during the project we hope you can enjoy.
We've made sure to share you feedback with the Club team, we hope to improve your experience with us.
Fantastic experience: Ski, Georgiana and Toni have made my trips to the gym worth going as I enjoy there classes very much, gutted to hear recently that one of my favourite classes (Mon CLUBBERCISE) is to be cancelled which is a shock because it's always full and enjoyable, hopefully that could be changed (hint hint) all 3 lovely lady's deserve high praises and if/when I have the courage to join other classes I'm sure they will be just as lovely but will always enjoy my favourite classes
Hi Stacey, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback for Ski, Georgiana and Toni. We have passed your feedback on to the club's Group Exercise Co-ordinator.
Negative experience: Used to be such a nice friendly gym until David Lloyd took it over!! The standards that they set for members is appalling and are not intrested in any kind of hygiene standards at the gym! People are allowed to enter the pool areas without even being required to shower, some going in covered in sweat from the gym or classes! If you complain to the gym it will be ignored and if take it higher in the David Lloyd company they could not care less!! Avoid using this there are much cheaper ones locally with higher standards
Thank you for your feedback Barry. We’re sorry to hear about your experience and take your concerns very seriously. Please contact us directly at [email protected] so we can look into this further and address your concerns properly.
Negative experience: Cant lie haven't visited the place but overpriced and I enquired online to which they then called and asked if i wanted a membership but due to being a bit anxious on the phone I emailed and said I was no longer interested to which I got spammed day after day with call of if I want to join, take a hint to be honest, when ive emailed and also rang back saying I was not interested i was then tried to get pushed to talk to the sales team which is not what I wanted??
Hi Jacob, we’re very sorry to hear this and would like to help. To make sure we remove your details from the system, please share them with us at [email protected], as we’re unable to locate your information using the username on your review.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention, we hope to resolve this soon for you.
Positive experience: Had a beauty treatment, only to be told all treatment finish on Saturday. Such a shame.
Negative experience: I’ve sadly renewed my membership, but really wished I hadn’t and spent my precious money elsewhere. The plus point are the staff that stayed since the take over. The management however, need to grip what is going wrong since David Lloyd took over because the Shrewsbury Club has taken a complete dive. Classes are impossible to book without being ruled/glued to your phone every night. Renewal was actually a nightmare, and in hindsight, I should have clocked the red flag moment! The showers stink of sewage and mostly cold (if working), the car park is rammed and dangerous (didn’t happen before), the pool is dirty and freezing (also didn’t happen before), the jacuzzi is limp and needs a decent servicing, the changing rooms no longer cope with the amount of members. A pathetic cancellation policy where if you cancel when the class was full, you get a black mark against you, doesn’t matter your reason, sickness, deaths on motorway, if the place is not rebooked - black mark! This is despite the class then having 3-5 spaces left at the time of it taking place. There was nothing wrong with the waitlist system it used to be. Interestingly, no recompense for when DL cancels the class on you. My advice - shop around, there are many gyms, pools around this area, this, once brilliant club has really lost its way and will lose its regular members. Not that DL will care.
Hi, we're sorry to hear you haven't had a positive experience with us. We appreciate you sharing your feedback and would like to get in touch to discuss your feedback further and learn what we can do to improve your experience at the Club. Please email us at [email protected] quoting your review and membership number so we can give you a call.
Negative experience: The tennis coaching team and reception staff couldn’t be more helpful but communication from management is absolutely terrible. My DD and 3 out of 4 of my childrens’ membership got altered, without notification on 1st February. I found out this change as my three children ,who I spend £500 a month on tennis coaching at the club, suddenly couldn’t book courts via the app. After many attempts at getting answers (as each person I asked said it was someone else who delt with that) I was eventually told I should never have been sold this membership. I was informed I’d get a £45 refund by someone walking way from me in a corridor. I still really didn’t understand what was going on and why. On the 12th March I was advised to speak to a specific person from DL Membership and told they would be able to explain things as they knew more about the DL memberships than the local team. I explained my frustration at not being able to book tennis courts for my children that played tennis and he agreed that it seemed incorrect that I was being prohibited from having platinum rights for some of my children because I pay for them to have tennis lessons at the club. On 13th March they called me and reassured me that my tennis children can have platinum privileges and tennis can be a ‘bolt on’. They said it would be sorted and as a gesture of good will I’d not need to pay for the remaining days of the month (of March). Ten days went by and I’d not heard anything so again had to track down the person. When I caught up with them they looked genuinely confused that the issue hadn’t been sorted as they thought they’d handed over to the local membership team. On 28th March I had an email to say that the General Manager designate from DL was away but would be in touch on Tuesday (1st April). This date went by and after hearing nothing the reception team emailed them on my behalf multiple times that week. They got no reply and seemed confused about getting no response from them. I asked if there was anyone other than the manager I could speak to but the reception team said she was the highest person in DL that they knew about. On 9th April I emailed back sales to advise them I’d still not heard anything. I’m still waiting to even have an acknowledgement… Just as an aside I when I spoke to the activities manager about an email I’d previously sent I was told they couldn’t reply to emails as they’d do nothing else. I’ve still not used the gym since joining in December. I’m new to gyms so wouldn’t know where to start. I asked at reception in January about the free PT sessions with my membership as there was nothing on the app. I was told its a busy time post Christmas and I’d be contacted direct by a PT when they’d gone down the new members list…. still waiting! I was keen to try some classes eg Pilates. Unless you can be free at 6.30pm on the dot with the app open, don’t bother, as they will be full. Unless you need tennis coaching/indoor tennis facilities I’d honesty consider any other gym in the area. The tennis coaches, reception and café staff are all great but good luck otherwise! Update- As requested by DL I have removed all names from the review. I’m a little confused as to how they can’t locate my membership as I’m registered with this name at the club.
Thank you for your detailed feedback Davina. We’d really like to help, but we’re struggling to locate your membership details based on the username used in your review. Please email your membership information along with a copy of your review to [email protected], so the relevant team can support you further.
We also kindly ask that you remove the team member’s name from your review to respect their privacy. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, we hope we can improve your experience with us.
Positive experience: I've recently joined this Gym, I've gone with the platinum corporate membership. Gym equipment is good, changing rooms look nice, but showers are terrible. Towels provided in the platinum rate, are too small. Get discount of 10% on food and drink, however the wait time for food is ridiculous. Over 30 mins for a toastie. Not overly impressed as far.
Hi Rebecca, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, we really appreciate your feedback. We're sorry to hear we haven't quite met your expectations in these areas, we have shared your feedback with the Club Manager so we can work on improving your experience at the Club. If you do wish to speak to us further about this please let us know at [email protected] or ask to speak with the Duty Manager during your next visit.
Negative experience: I've been a loyal member of the Shrewsbury club for I believe over 8 years, but I’m extremely disappointed with how things have changed recently since the changeover to David Lloyd. My membership renewal cost has gone up by 45%. I almost never leave negative reviews on this platform however members must be aware that their years of loyalty will be completely disregarded What’s worse is the complete lack of response from the membership team. I’ve been trying to get in touch for a number of weeks — phone calls, emails — and have had zero reply until today. As a long-standing member, this is incredibly frustrating and shows a real lack of care for customer loyalty. Sadly, it feels like long-term members are being overlooked, and that’s not the kind of service I’d expect after nearly a decade of support. As a keen amateur tennis player who also enjoys swimming - a membership hike to £1129 (when paid all at once - otherwise its £99 a month) is a £349 increase. At a time where cost of living is at an all time high I believe this change and increase is nothing short of scandalous
Hi, we're sorry to hear you are disappointed with the recent increase. In order to continue to improve our facilities and offer the best experience for our members we unfortunately do have to implement these new fees. We appreciate it can be frustrating, we do our best to keep the increase to a minimum, we hope you understand.
Fantastic experience: Excellent facilities, great staff. Not the cheapest though
Hi, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review Rob, we are delighted to hear that you are enjoying the Club!
Negative experience: I have to say that our beloved "Shrewsbury Club" which was a wonderful place (until the change over) is now a shell of what it used to be. It used to be a welcoming place, quiet enough later on to be able to enjoy the facilities without the need to worry if it would be too busy to enjoy it. I myself use the swimming pool, steam room and jacuzzi the most. But lately it has been overly busy, jacuzzi is broken apparently (this never happened when it was Shrewsbury Club) with no indication on when it will be working again. The showers are now luke-warm, the app was a faff and for some of the older generation this was impossible due to their phones not being new enough. I just think that The Shrewsbury Club was a place the people from Shrewsbury felt at home and now I feel like its just not the same. Which is a real shame and I think a lot of members will be leaving over the coming months, myself included, should things not improve and quickly.
Hi Adrian, we're sorry to hear about your experience and the changes at the Club. We understand your frustration, and we’ve requested the Club Management Team get in touch with you directly to address your concerns. We appreciate your feedback and are committed to improving your experience. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us.
Negative experience: Since David Lloyds took over Shrewsbury club unfortunately any changes we can see are for the worse. Before I was able to get to my favourite classes, now it's impossible to book even 8 days in advance. You have to literally fight for the remaining places for jujitsu for kids, Body combat with Mickey and Pilates with Jag, I haven't been able to attempt to classes I did every week for two months now. You also cannot cancel a few hours before so the person who is waiting for the space doesn't even know you cannot come. I had an emergency at work and had to cancel two classes over 3 hours before but it says cancellation impossible. Before it would just let in other people waiting, now space is wasted and I get a no show notification. At the moment the only reason I go there is for jujitsu for kids. They also got rid of the waiting list. So you have to keep checking your email and the system every day if any space is available. What am I even paying for if there are no spaces for the classes I want? Very frustrating, it's as if they wanted to get rid of people.
Hi Mag, we're sorry to hear about your frustration. Please send your membership details to [email protected] so the Activities Team can get in touch to discuss your experience and offer support. Thank you for sharing your feedback.
Positive experience: Initially impressed by Shrewsbury club when I joined about a year ago but recently not so much. Before the changeover it was refined and quiet but now it all feels a bit Half hearted… unkept showers/toilets, consistently smelly steam room, doors and turnstiles busted every other day (as an ex security engineer I know they don’t take weeks to fix!) and the gym all of a sudden plagued with groups of students/kids doing 10 half arsed sets on one machine. I now have to keep asking how many sets they have left, not out of politeness but to remind them that there are other people in the gym. Something that I haven’t experienced since leaving jd. Having been a member of the flagship David Lloyd in Farnham (Surrey) and another in Woking, Shrewsbury is currently miles away from being worth the money so if the rumoured price rises are to come into play, there better be some improvements and expansion to facilities first!
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us Sam. We're really sorry to hear about your recent experience at the Club. We’d like to get in touch to better understand the issues you've raised and address them accordingly. Please reach out with your membership details to [email protected], and our team will be in touch to assist further.
Fantastic experience: The spa is worth a visit. The gym is well appointed & clean.
Hi, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review Gillian, we are delighted to hear that you are enjoying the Club!
Fantastic experience: So far so good! But now ol David’s onboard here’s hoping for an outside pool and jacuzzi
Thank you for your review Daniel, we certainly have some exciting plans!
Negative experience: Very disappointed this Sunday evening to find the steam room had been switched off for cleaning at 20:30 despite the publicised closing time of 21:00. Even worse! At 20:35 A staff member then opened the sauna and asked six people in there to get out so he could clean it before closing. They then asked the people in the jacuzzi to leave! I understand staff may want to clean early so they can go home promptly but if closing time is 9pm and people are using the facilities don't start closing up early!
Hi there, thank you for your feedback, we apologise for the frustration this caused.
To allow for cleaning, the sauna and steam rooms are closed 30 minutes prior to the Club's closing time. The vitality pool remains open later, however the Club does close at 9pm on a weekend. We appreciate your understanding and will make sure this information is communicated clearly to avoid any future confusion.
Positive experience: I've been a member for over 5 years, I hope this new transition to David Lloyds will bring positive rather than negative or subpar changes. I would love to see more Zumba classes added and Zumba step which is already in place in many other gyms. I've deducted a star because we've fed this feedback to the gym before so many times and no change has been done so perhaps now with the new transition, David llyods will take into consideration the members' feedback!
Hi Sara, Thanks for leaving a review and we are excited for the transition too! Please keep sharing your feedback as we do love to hear it!
Fantastic experience: I’ve been a member here for 2 years and hopeful for what change might be to come now the club is with David Lloyd. I love Zumba and Aqua Zumba classes with Sabina! Would love to see more Zumba on the timetable, including new classes for Zumba Step which is available at other gyms.
Thank you so much for your 5 star review Kezia! We can't wait for you to see all the amazing improvements we have stored for 2025! We will definitely review the timetable and do our best to add more of the popular classes to it. Please feel free to come to talk our Group Ex coordinator, they'll be happy to hear your feedback anytime!
Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to the club (formerly The Shrewsbury Club) for 2 years and I love being a member here. Clubbercise, Pilates and Zumba are my go-to classes! Keep up the good work DLC!
Hi, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review Kirsty, we are delighted to hear that you are enjoying the Club!
Negative experience: David Lloyd Shrewsbury (formerly The Shrewsbury Club) I used to love this place when it was The Shrewsbury Club—it had such a welcoming vibe and great facilities. However, since it transitioned to David Lloyd, there have been some disappointing changes, particularly regarding the tennis policies. The fact that you can’t bring a tennis ball machine anymore is frustrating, especially since I recently used one at another David Lloyd club. There seems to be inconsistency in their rules, and I hope they address this with head office soon. That said, credit where it’s due—the spa facilities are fantastic. It’s a great place to relax, though the sauna could definitely be bigger. I really hope they invest further into making this club a true spa retreat, perhaps with outdoor spa features, which would take it to the next level. The café is another highlight. The coffee is high-quality, and the food options are varied and enjoyable. Overall, there’s still a lot to like about the club, but some improvements and clearer communication around rules would make it even better.
Hi Ehsaan, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, we really appreciate this and will ensure it is shared with the club's Management Team.
Fantastic experience: Nice place, lovely atmosphere

Fantastic experience: Gym has been re worked and re-equipped to a high standard. Covid safety is high. Staff helpful and friendly. Pool is good. Tennis courts are good. My son who is now 16 can use the gym without me needing to be there and at any time. What's not to like!!!
Fantastic experience: Went for the final of the W100 event, it gets better and better each year and I would highly recommend it to anyone.
Dear Patrick
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us your feedback regarding the W100 event. As I' sure you can imagine it takes alot of hard work from everyone involved and we are delighted you enjoyed it so much.

Fantastic experience: Never too busy, even at peak times there's always free machines. I've never been and not seen a cleaner working to keep the facilities in good condition. There are dozens of tennis courts. The gym has a weight room downstairs, a cardio area upstairs. The swimming pool is 20 m, it has a sauna, a steam room, and a jacuzzi. There is also a spa which is not covered by the membership.
Dear Rosie

Fantastic experience: The Shrewsbury club offers everything you and your family need for a health club. Our only wish is that they Invested in a bigger pool, as their current one is tiny.

Negative experience: Me and my partner went today for a relaxing day in the pool , steam room and sauna, my partner is a member and I am a guest , I was looking at getting myself a membership before today Went to the men’s changing room and there was 2 , 5/6 year old girls running around and I felt uncomfortable getting changed into my swimming trunks so I had to wear my boxer shorts over my trunks So I decided to go to the steam room and the sauna but there were very small children running in and out of the facilities ( health and safety issue ) then I noticed they then jumped straight into the pool with there parent with out showering and trust me they were very sweaty which put me off going into the pool , even though there are signs everywhere saying shower before entering the pool , my partner complained at reception and they did give me my guest fee back but all in all a very horrible experience considering it’s meant to be an elite club and membership is expensive so I expected better Please look into these issues , I went for a relaxing day with the misses but lasted 25mins before the screaming kids put me off and the health and safety issues
Dear Adam
We are a family friendly club and our pool times clearly state when they will be in the pool and surrounding area so it would be prudent to avoid these times if you would like a relaxing day at the club.
The Shrewsbury Club
Positive experience: Clean and modern facilities. Can be very busy and need to wait for machines.
Fantastic experience: After such good instructor classes and then the relaxing area sauna/steam, my session at The Shrewsbury Club is topped off with a coffee and cookie in the Cafeteria & chatting to staff and members which starts my day the best way possible.
Dear Kev
Sounds like you are enjoying every aspect of the club and we are thrilled to hear it! Thank you for sharing this with us.

Negative experience: I travelled an hour to visit the spa for a spa day. As part of the check in process we were told to be promptly in the relaxation room at the time of treatment (mud chamber). Myself and my friend got to the relaxation room 15 minutes before hand to then have to wait over an hour with no sign of someone coming to collect us. We went to the reception to be told “oh I completely forgot”. No apology. Absolutely shocking customer service. Very disappointing as it ruined the atmosphere, we were very hungry and didn’t want to leave the relaxation room incase we were collected. Just very poor to not even have an apology and to be told you were forgotten about. Just want to feedback to ensure this doesn’t happen to someone else as up to that point I was more than willing to attend the spa again but it very much put a negative on the experience.
Dear Jess
We are so sorry to hear this, I believv the manager has been in contact with your to rectify your experience. We cannot apologise enough.
The Shrewsbury Club
Negative experience: We came here to get a price for the swimming etc, we had a look around the lady that showed us round was brilliant, the place has loads of equipment, but they don't do just a swim price which for people that can't use the gym equipment isn't very good and they should ideally look into this, the price overall was very pricey and the swimming times are just as bad as the local council as well compared to rise fitness where you can swim at anytime of the day. The tennis is also on top of the heavy price as well which I didn't find very good either..
Dear Ashley
We are sorry to hear you were dissapointed with the clubs pricing. We will be sure to take this feedback into account when we review.

Fantastic experience: Clean, modern and friendly. The best gym in town.

The Shrewsbury Club
Fantastic experience: I love the Shrewsbury club. The gym is always clean and I have never had to wait long for equipment even at its busiest times. The pool is great and family times are on everyday as well as specific times for adults only, it's worth noting that there isn't always a life guard on duty in the pool area and I have been swimming when I'm the only person there. The fitness classes are great and it's worth trying out different classes. There is only one thing that would improve the club for me and that would be the changing rooms. There are mens and womans but not unisex which is difficult when taking children as children over 8 cant go in opposite gender changing rooms. There are two single cubicles for disabled that double as family changing but then you all have to get changed together in the same room, this became more of an issue as they got older. You do often have to wait for them to be free as well so can be standing around cold while waiting for people to finish in there.
Fantastic experience: Daughter has tennis coaching here. Great atmosphere, coaches are spot on. Brilliant facilities.
Fantastic experience: Superb facility and well staffed.
Fantastic experience: Great place , good company of people . Enjoyed the pool facilities.
Negative experience: Members for 17 months not one gym staff member acknowledged us Save your money and your privacy , incompetent gym staff who don’t acknowledge you or even the interact with you when working out and more interested with their desktop ️ computer in the gym. And for your personal information GDPR forget it they will plaster it all over the gym floor and to other members of staff. Poor management from floor to club.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic facilities and range of classes.
Fantastic experience: Great facilities and friendly team. Restaurant is good also
Fantastic experience: The best fitness club in Shrewsbury nice and clean and tidy the staff cannot do enough for you keep up the good quality of your club
Fantastic experience: Clean tidy gym, polite friendly staff, fitness instructors available, a great choice of classes to choice from, Swimming pool spa sauna steam plus a jacuzzi all very clean, busy days like Monday hard to use on equipment but expected, quieter at weekends Plenty tennis courts.
Fantastic experience: Great sports centre - lovely staff and really good cafe/restaurant
Negative experience: Not a welcoming atmosphere after the inital joining speech staff struggle to even say hello. Food mediocre. Facilities ok but for me they cater too much for children and tennis. Way too crowded gym and pool not surprised they limited membership. Old fashioned system for booking onto classes.
Positive experience: We visited the Cathie Sabin dome today - an interesting environment.
Fantastic experience: Really lovely facility. No idiot members either, nice balance of family and serious athletes. Plenty of classes if that's your thing. Lovely. Just lovely.
Fantastic experience: Great venue. Thank you for letting the Lingen Davies Cancer Fund meet in a quiet corner. Much appreciated.
Positive experience: Staff helpful .Good fresh food
Positive experience: I appreciate people go to gyms / leisure centres for different reasons and goals so this comprehensive review is based from a perspective of a natural bodybuilder who retired from competing last year. I only go to Shrewsbury club between 6am-9am. The main reason I joined was access to a pool and take up yoga classes to rehabilitate a hip issue whilst still training at the gym. The car park is huge and you should have no issues finding a space. There is a children's outdoor play area which is a nice touch. There is also an covered outdoor crossfit style training area where I've seen classes take place. Entrance is by a membership card. Staff are always friendly and say hello when you arrive. The changing rooms are excellent. Plenty of large lockers, which require a refundable £1 coin (or token). Male changing rooms have 4 separate shower cubicles and a communal shower area. The area has nice decor and tiled everywhere. Noticed there are two separate family changing rooms. POOL - a 20 metre pool. Deep end 1.5m and shallow end 1.2m so younger children will require buoyancy aids. Most of the time it is warm but occasionally the shallow end is cooler. Adult lane swimming is on when I attend and never too busy. The sauna and steam rooms are adjacent to the pool and are great. Operate at the right temperature (for me anyway) and never too crowded. Good sized vitality pool is around the corner from the pool within the adults only relaxation area where there are a number of loungers for you to relax. The gym area I train here four time a week. The downstairs area is weights whilst upstairs is all cardio equipment with some functional resistance training equipment. I spend most of my time downstairs. The gym equipment is all supplied by Technogym and the equipment is generally of a very good standard and well looked after. Dumbells go up to 50kg i think with four benches. There are three squat racks and therefore three areas to deadlift or Olympic lift. Whilst the equipment is decent the gym I feel is unbalanced - too much upper body (push) equipment and not enough leg or pull equipment. They could really do with a hack squat, another cable station and a few others. Saturday mornings are also very busy. I've turned up twice only to walk straight back out as its too busy and I've trained elsewhere. The layout of the gym also excludes crossfit style training as usually WODS are in conjunction with weights and cardio equipment. But with weights downstairs and cardio upstairs its; difficult to do. There is a comprehensive class programme and definitely something for everyone. I attend flow yoga classes twice a week and these have been excellent. Lucy is an excellent instructor/ teacher and I've no doubt I will reap the benefits of the classes in the coming weeks and months ahead. Tennis features heavily at Shrewsbury club and whilst I'm not active in the sport I can tell they have extensive tennis facilities, indoor/ outdoor courts and offer coaching too. The restaurant area on the 1st floor is pleasant with plenty of seating. Just had the one coffee so far. They do serve food. There is a childs indoor play area next to the restaurant. Speaking of children they do offer all adult members the option to sign up any children under 16 as members for free. This is a great benefit to adult members so I've signed up my children. Although, there are over subscribed so there is a wait to get them on board. Fair enough. When I breakdown what I use at the club each session then the £69 monthly memberships is well worth it. That's how you need to look at it if you are thinking of signing up. If you make use of most of the facilities then you're getting you moneys worth. Overall, very happy with my experience so far. My only gripe is the gym area which does need a rethink in my opinion, hence 4 stars and not 5. But best have a look around and see the club for yourself.
Negative experience: Shrewsbury Council have done an excellent job of discouraging visitors to the town, its businesses and facilities by imposing ludicrous parking charges EVERYWHERE. It is not a safe town to walk through after dark, park and ride bus’s finish at 6ish and all leisure facilities and attractions become way too expensive by the time rip-off parking charges are added. Sadly the pool and other private evening classes are just not viable for many people. I don’t know another town with such high and continuous parking charges. Shame on the Council.
Fantastic experience: All I will say is a great place
Fantastic experience: Fantastic club, great facilities, lovely staff great value for money.
Fantastic experience: Great friendly staff. Amazing mud treatment. So relaxing.
Fantastic experience: The best gym in town. The staff are always welcoming and helpful. The facilities are spotless and the gym equipment is super hi tech. Great place to chill with a brew after a work out and swim.
Positive experience: I have been at the club for a year and a half now. Great gym, always clean and I've never experienced it being overcrowded. Love the family swim sessions and its great that you pay a one off fee for children until they are 16. Changing rooms are always clean, but can be very busy could do with being bigger for the amount of guests that swim. Nice facilities and the staff are friendly - especially in the hub and housekeeping, they need a pay rise. I often work from the library and it's a great space to do this as it's quiet and the WiFi is good. Soft play to entertain the kids. Deducting one star as the showers have a sewage smell, even though they are clean this is a drain issue. Also, pool temp is hit and miss sometimes it's can be cold even though it's meant to be heated.
Fantastic experience: As a member for nearly a year now I highly recommend this club mainly for its facilities friendly staff and most importantly the cleanliness of changing rooms and all ancillary spaces Housekeeping staff deserve the 5 stars having been to other clubs locally The Shrewsbury club stands out.
Fantastic experience: 10 years a member wouldn't go anywhere else cheers.
Fantastic experience: Great facilities and friendly helpful staff. Always clean in the changing rooms and the showers are even cleaned regularly.
Positive experience: Jacuzzi was not very warm. Sauna and steam room nice. The massage was not the best I've had. Mud chamber was okay but not enough mud to cover body. The food in the cafe was good.
Positive experience: Looked fab. Had a tour and booked spa.
Fantastic experience: Lots of activity and there is also an spa were we went definitely recommended
Positive experience: Few bits of equipment downstairs at most gyms that are missing here, upstairs (cardio) is constantly boiling hot which they don't seem to address, and they only have 2 family changing rooms, when there 30 kids with parents trying to change for swimming at the same, seems poorly thought out, rest of facilities are great, staff are also nice
Fantastic experience: Excellent Summer Camp for Kids Our son has spent two weeks in the Summer Camp for Kids in the School Holidays. The organisation has been absolutely spot on, as has been the attentiveness of all of the staff that we have come into contact with. The restaurant seems to be very popular and we’ve previously used the gym and spa treatments, all of which have been very enjoyable indeed. Very much looking forward to coming back again soon.
Positive experience: I paid a visit to decide if this is the club I will join , when my aquatherapy sessions are almost finished . Clean , welcoming , friendly , helpful staff , well equipped. Adult only swim sessions and reasonably priced . I will also be able to visit reasonably cheaply thanks to super dial a ride ! The food is rather expensive but as I don't like too eat too soon after swimming it won't affect me . I think you can guess....I will be going there !
Positive experience: Nice place we'll set out can get busy at certain parts of the day. It is not the cheapest. Staff very nice and helpful. Parking free. You can also go for a walk down to the river as it is not to far away.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic facilities. Great staff. Highly reccomend.
Positive experience: Great place...everything you need....I've used back street gyms in the past so this is like the Ritz to me!would recommend to people
Fantastic experience: I love this place. Great facilities, lots and lots of classes which always have availability, the food in the restaurant is good and great service. The staff on reception are super friendly and recognise you, which isn't always the case at other gyms. It is pricey, but you definitely get what you pay for.
Fantastic experience: We attended here for a Spa experience. The Imagine Spa for my birthday. Great customer service, clean, friendly welcome. Many services available. We attended a couple of hrs before so we could use the swimming pool jacuzzi, sauna and steam room before our treatment. Highly recommended it. Thank you for making my birthday special.
