Fantastic experience: Highlighting the reception desk staff today. I haven't been swimming for several months. Despite this, as I fumbled with my app, the receptionist offered "I will buzz you through Rose". Such a small interaction, yet such an amazing piece of customer service. I am lucky that on a daily basis, I am warmly welcomed by my family at home. I am also a therapist. For some of my most isolated clients, those little day to day interactions can be literally life saving. As well as thanking the receptionist for their care, I hope Better management sees this review too. At time when so much is being automated to save on costs (understandable), I hope Better recognises how much value that one staff member, is adding to the community of Lido users (and therefore to Better as an organisation).

Fantastic experience: Best Lido in London! Beautiful 50 m heated outdoor pool. Super clean. Staff are so friendly, kind and helpful. Diversity encouraged. Has an old London meets new London feel. What a gem!

Negative experience: Over crowded. Don't even bother. Date of visit: 30 September 2025. Never have I seen people bumping into each other so often in a swimming pool. 2 lanes were also shut down for classes. No amount of chlorine can clear all the bacteria from that many people.

Fantastic experience: A great local, heated lido - well maintained, good and friendly staff and a mix of regulars, locals and passers through. It feels part of the local landscape and part of the local community. Personally I love a winter's swim when the steam is rising and the air is crisp and the sky a pure blue - but it's great at anytime of the year. It is unsurprisingly very busy on a hot summers day - but still swimmable if you come with patience and a forgiving attitude.

Fantastic experience: As an almost non swimmer I took adult swimming lessons here with swimming teacher Naomi. The classes were affordable and super helpful and thanks to Naomi I managed to get within 6 months to a level where I was able to complete a sprint triathlon. The venue is welcoming, clean and there are gender neutral facilities available as well.

Fantastic experience: We particularly enjoy visiting one of the finest lidos with our children during heatwaves. We appreciate the pleasant atmosphere, the abundance of lifeguards that ensure our safety, the delightful cafe offering delicious smoothies and sourdough sandwiches, the clean showers and changing rooms, and the ample space for sunbathing, playing cards with the kids, and generally having a relaxing day out.

Fantastic experience: Great pool great swim teachers and as a swim academy student I am proud to swim here Naomi is a great teacher to learn from and I a proud to be her student and the receptionist Giuseppa is very helpful and very friendly and caring g and considerate of customers feelings here and makes sure everyone feels welcome with her vibrant and bubbly personality

Fantastic experience: I love it here. I only wish people would swim in the appropriate lanes. In the slow lane people race past you. They’re often faster than this in the medium. The lanes get overcrowded at times.

Positive experience: The organization of it it’s so messy. It doesn’t matter if you have pre booked tickets you still have to wait the same queue as everyone else, it can take about an hour to get in. They don’t have any disability access or disability queueing or concession tickets which makes it incredibly inaccessible, and let’s not even talk about the fact that you pay £7 just for 50 minutes on a small section of a pool where you get hit, splashed and kicked by loads of people because there’s not enough space for everyone, all you can do is stand still, like sardines on a tin. It just feels unhygienic, chaotic and a little unsafe

Fantastic experience: Great place in Hackney, was here for the first time. changing room inside and outside, (need 1 pound), the water is great as well as the depth! also the staff is wonderful, if something is wrong they explain everything clearly! I will definitely visit this pool again, and recommend it to friends!!!

Negative experience: Wow, £6.40 for exactly one hour of lying on scorching concrete, no loungers, no shade, no music, no vibe — what a bargain! Truly the dream. In any normal country, you pay £20 and get the whole day, with actual services: beds, umbrellas, a bar, a place to relax. But here? You get timed out like you’re in a prison yard. It’s not about the price — it’s the audacity to charge anything for an experience that feels like a sunstroke countdown. And let’s be honest: these places are empty 360 days a year. They can only milk it for the 3 days of sun the UK gets. Who’s really spending £10+ to sweat on concrete for one hour and then be kicked out? Only here do they manage to turn sunshine into a money trap. “Not just me – plenty of reviews say the same. But instead of fixing things, they double down. October swims? Come on, no one’s waiting for frostbite to enjoy a pool.”

Negative experience: Very dirty, cloudy water with lots of different kinds of rubbish in it. Rude reception and pool staff, overcrowded - someone's touching you every second, very little space to sunbathe, which was all packed.

Negative experience: very very bad customer service , lied that there is a 3M deep pool in order to pass a swim test and staff was very rude. It was as if they did not want us to go in

Fantastic experience: This lido is a lovely spot, especially during the summer months. It’s a great place to relax, enjoy a drink, and soak up the sun. The atmosphere is laid-back and inviting, making it perfect for a casual day out. The coffee is quite decent too, which is always a bonus. Another plus is its location—just a short walk from London Fields and Broadway Market, so there’s plenty to explore before or after your visit. That said, if you're coming in winter or on a day with poor weather, and your main goal is serious swimming rather than leisure, then the London Aquatics Centre in the Olympic Park is a much better option. It offers top-tier facilities, consistent water temperature, and a more focused swimming experience. In summary: this lido is ideal for a sunny day of lounging and socialising, but for year-round swimming or training, there are stronger choices elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: The lido is lovely. My first time as a south Londoner (yes we’re allowed up north). The pool is fab and the changing rooms and facilities are spotless. The staff are delightful and friendly and the cafe is great too! What not to love!! I’ll be back soon!!!

Fantastic experience: Hi London Fields Lido...... I just popped in to say hi. I now live in the Midlands, but I was born in Dalston. As kids, the Lido was one of our favouritist places to go to. We would pay our pennies to go in, get our ticket and run to the little changing rooms with their wooden doors, on pool side to get changed, it was a race as to who could get changed first. Although I don't know why because the boys would always win, running and jumping in splashing us girls and making us scream because it was so cold! I'm not joking when I say that water was at least -10⁰ how none of us were hyperthermic when we got out I don't know? You never saw the adults in there, or at least not for long. They weren't stupid.. Some of my happiest childhood memories were made in that pool, that park and that swing park... on the highest slide, that most definitely wouldn't be legal these days! It was incredible.. I'm 58 now and I'm talking about 48 years ago at least lol. I still have the scars on my knees from the scratchy sharp floor of the pool, it was like walking on Artex is was so sharp .. I'm sure there would have been tons of kids who lost skin on that stuff.. Anyway, I just wanted to say.. I'm so glad such an icon is still going strong, I'm sure it's been difficult staying afloat.. sorry, no pun intended.. maybe next time I come home, I'll come for a splash around and come and check out your snazzy hot showers, such luxury, lol. And bring the grandkiddlies to. ... Have you changed that horrid pool floor? I don't want them scraping their knees lol ... xx

Negative experience: The pool is lovely. But what ever you do do not order any food from the cafe. I ordered a cheese toastie and waited 30 minutes for a toastie whilst the girl stood making bagels to put in the fridge. The 3 girls behind the counter all teenagers with not a clue. So rude no customer service no sorry for the wait. I asked for my money back they refused never again. One girl told me I hadn’t waited half an hour when I had the transaction on my phone and she wasn’t even in the cafe when I ordered vile customer service. Laughed in my face as well absolutely disgraceful. I had ordered 2 bagels also which she had served me 20 minutes before the toastie so just stood there waiting for my child’s sandwich. The pool itself is lovely if defo go again but won’t be eating or buying a drink there

Fantastic experience: It was my first visit this week. I've been wanting to come for over a year and finally made it and so happy I did. What a gorgeous oasis here in East London. Super friendly staff who work hard to keep everyone safe and feel welcomed. Looking forward to my next visit.

Positive experience: The -2 stars is really just for the lifeguard who was on duty in the tower between 16:30-17 on 12th of Aug, aka hottest day of the year. This guy (or gal) sat there staring out into space while 3 youths jumped into the middle of the fast lap lane, standing there as if it were their own family pool, with no regard for the dozens of people swimming in that lane that they were actively blocking. They proceed to have some chats and hang out there until someone yells at them in the lane to get out (thank God) and then eventually after a few minutes, walks into the next lane over. Whoever was on duty needs to get retrained on what their job entails, which definitely includes telling these kids to get out, especially when it's happening just beside him/her. The pool would also benefit from having some signs that say "do not enter" along the sides, which, while many would consider common sense, apparently isn't when it's a hot day.

Negative experience: Nice for a swim but £12 for a sunbathe on the concrete ground with no space isn’t acceptable. Facilities were very dirty and there was a shout off between the receptionist and a customer.

Positive experience: Great place and vibe. Clean. Of course super busy when it’s hot. Sometimes they have weird entrance values. Ie when it was busy they let you in without booking. Then later not busy you need a booking. Also they really should do some bands when entering. As you can stay there all day long and others miss out. 3 hrs or something more than enough for example.

Negative experience: I contacted Better Health to cancel my membership due to the inability of using their facilities that are closest to me during the summer. My main interest is in swimming for fitness, but the lido gets overwhelmed with customers looking to enjoy the summer weather. Unfortunately, I was met with utter contempt and indifference by the customer support team, not even giving me the option to suspend my membership until the end of summer, which means I had to pay for a month for nothing... In reply to the reply from the business below: that is absolutely false, I contacted the London Fields Lido team first and was told to contact Better Health. Also, rich thing to suggest when your account literally has a Better Health logo as its profile picture - if you are not directly part of the organization, then you are certainly inducing customers in error.

Negative experience: absolutely ridiculous. the weekend is always fully booked out 1-2 days ahead minimum. i live locally, have kids and never get to use the facility. i recognise there is high demand, but they need a better system. i doubt that all the people who book 3-5 days ahead of time turn up, but then the system just says ‘not available’ for the whole day. It’s so frustrating later Edit: When I called Better they said no ‘walk-ins’, please update them.

Negative experience: I made an appointment.. Thinking that was to make sure there was enough space to swim… But no, it was packed over capacity. No room to swim, no lockers left and they had run out of tokens anyway. People just standing in the lanes chatting. Couldn’t swim so that makes sense. It was an absolutely hideous experience.

Positive experience: Online ooking system seems to be working smoothly, if a tad confusing for the myriad options. Hot water showers were too hot for summer but hey, nice they were hot! Managed to find a spot to sunbathe and it wasn't too packed for a gentle swim.

Fantastic experience: First visit here and loved it. Lovely staff to meet you at the reception and guide you through as we told them it's our first time. Changing rooms outside and inside, same for the showers. The pool temperature was a bit chilly for us but having a hot shower near by helped us out. Lovely place for families. Definitely coming again and again.

Fantastic experience: A pretty nice 50m outdoor heated pool. Indoor and outdoor changing facilities are available. Lockers work with any pound coin (returnable). Not a huge changing room/showers but did the job and there are plenty outside. You’re not allowed outdoor shoes past the reception area but there are sofas where you can take them off and put them back on. There are hair dryers too if you need them. Lots of lanes in the pool with enough space to overtake others if need be. The shallow end is really very shallow so I often found my arms touching the bottom as I swam which was a little annoying when I was trying to sprint. As with any outdoor pool, it wasn’t 100% clean which was slightly off-putting when I took the odd accidental gulp of water, but I’m still alive! That’s why I’ve knocked a star. Will try and visit again when the weather’s a bit warmer and see how busy it ends up being! — EDIT May 2024: I think I must’ve gone on a windy day where things were blown into the pool. I’ve been back 3 times since then and it has been very clean for an outdoor pool so I’ve added a star! I’ve been in warmer weather and it does get quite busy and some people don’t understand lane etiquette but the life guards sometimes stop people to remind them. Would definitely recommend!

Positive experience: Lovely outdoor pool with hot showers and deposit based lockers. Was there only for the annual swimathon when it tipped down. Really needs an outside covered zone, else watchers get soaked.

Fantastic experience: I have been to London Fields Lido for years. This pool is amazing and also the staff and the customers. Yesterday I lost a necklace which was very precious to me and all staff and customers helped me find it (turns out it fell off my neck in the pool!). Know that if you go swimming there, you’re in very very good hands in many aspects!

Fantastic experience: Great pool, busy, but the double lanes flowed well with everyone working at the right pace for where they put themselves. Good fresh water with little chlorine taste, much better to be outside in the fresh air even on a winters day while it’s windy and spitting with rain. Changing rooms are very clean and tidy, but the shower pressure is very low. £1 coin needed for the lockers, you get it back when you open it.

Fantastic experience: Clean 50m HEATED outdoor pool. Proper changing rooms, spacious lockers, individual changing cubicles, inside and outside. Hot clean showers, hair driers, swimwear spinner. Disabled access friendly. Lovely atmosphere. Excellent opening hours. Hot drinks near the entrance.

Positive experience: One of my favorite places in London, I swim there twice a week. My only "but", more could be done about ensuring bike safety at their available bike parking space. Today my bicycle has been "ravaged", half of it has been stolen. This seems to be happening very often at their premises. I know this is a difficult one, it's a London epidemic really. A bold idea ... hiring security for the hours when is dark ?

Fantastic experience: I've swum in pools all over London, both indoors and outdoors, and I have to say that London Fields is right up there with the best. What you've got is a clean, spacious 50m pool with well sized lanes populated by people who really want to swim. Beyond this the changing rooms are clean and spacious. In fact the whole facility feels well looked after. Parking is a bit of a pain but there's plenty of space to park a bike and you can always walk. There's also a hole-in-the-wall cafe providing much needed post-swim refreshment. Quite simply if you enjoy swimming then you'll love London Fields. There's nothing quite like swimming in the open air, with the sun on your back, in water that isn't either freezing cold or full of eels. I just wish that I lived closer.

Fantastic experience: Love this place, being coming here twice a week for the last couple of months and it’s my favourite. Swimming outside is great, super clean and heated to a good amount, and so lovely to see the sky and the birds.

Fantastic experience: I went here for first time today and it's really lovely. Staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful in explaining things and getting me started - thanks David! The pool is really great - beautiful to be able to swim and see trees. The changing facilities were small but really well designed so didn't feel squashed. The only thing that could be improved was the showers, you can't change the temperature, but that's a minor quibble given how fantastic this place is.

Fantastic experience: A lovely venue for a swim a little bit busy but a good atmosphere. I am disabled but the staff there are very helpful I have to say a special thanks to the general manager Raph, I arrived at 6:30 this morning by 6:45 he had already helped me three times! A wonderful way to start a day thank you.

Fantastic experience: 50m heated outdoor pool, £5.70 for non-member/1 hour session. The pool is 1m at shallow end and stays pretty shallow until 25-35m mark so good for family swimming but a bit difficult if your tumble turn is a bit rubbish like mine . You have to take outdoor shoes off at the entrance so don't forget your flipflops and your £1 for the lockers. Went on a Monday at 11am and was super chill but imagine it's mental at the weekends/when it's a hot day.

Fantastic experience: Love it here. NIice big pool and a cordoned off bit In the shallow end for the little ones where u can take rubber rings in.. They aren't allowed in the big pool. Has lanes for those who just want to swim and the rest of the pool is for everyone else who go just for fun. The water is ffffreezing but u soon get used to it once yr in lol Staff are great.. Really keep an eye on the pool area. If they think u can't swim you won't be aloud in the deeper end until u do a swim test to make sure. It has plenty of space around the pool to set yr bits down while u swim or if u just wanna go there to do a bit of sunbathing. Also has a little cafe there serving hot and cold food, snacks & drinks. In my opinion its a bit expensive but it's very convenient. When the weather is hot the queue can get very very long so bare that in mind as you don't book anymore, just turn up and join the q. Their slots are 3hrs long so you get a decent swim b4 the next lot come in. All in all a good day out if u love swimming

Positive experience: *UPDATED* Cute local outdoors swimming pool. Entry is about £6 and it offers lockers (bring a £1 coin). The swimming pool is very shallow with a maximum depth of 1.8mt, and it’s not too long. There’s a bit of space to leave your towel and sunbathe, toilets, and outdoors showers (no soap). 3 stars because the swimming pool was dirty (I caught a lot of hair in my hands while swimming), and the toilets were awful. Also I couldn’t find the showers, so maybe it would make sense adding more signs.

Fantastic experience: Lovely pool. Perfect for a sunny day. It gets busy so we prefer to come earlier. My daughter really enjoys it. Like the outdoor changing cubicles. Nice atmosphere and helpful staff. Good and reasonably priced snacks and drinks available from small kiosk.

Positive experience: Great experience. A few minor quibbles. Wish people weren't permitted to sit on the edge of the entire length of the pool in the slowest lane with their legs in the water. I need to swim in this lane as not a strong swimmer. I have to take a break at the side during a length & can't when people are sitting here (I don't want to have to come very early or late to avoid this). Also, wish staff were more proactive in checking toilet paper supplies in the ladies'. There was no toilet paper in any of the cubicles.

Positive experience: It's a great outdoor pool, but gets pretty crowded as a result. There are three different swimming ability lanes which helps marginally, but tbh I haven't really found any times that are less busy. Lockers are the coin-locked ones, but you get your pound back after. Bring flip flips because the changing room floors can get a bit grim. Apparently heated in winter but have only ever been in summer.

Fantastic experience: A great place to enjoy the summer hot. Clean and plenty of changing rooms and lockers are available for swimmers. Even some of changing rooms are set at poolside, that’s very friendly to solo users. I like the vibe of the place as well. Thanks to the team.

Negative experience: Incredibly and unsafely overcrowded. I booked a slot for lap swimming, and I was unable to swim due to the crowds. Even in the "fast" lane, it was so crowded that people were just walking in the middle of the lane. Also, there was this strange double width lane instead of two normal lanes. They need to reduce the number of people allowed in so that it can be used safely. Also, lifeguards should make sure that people are in the correct lane.

Hour slots so it’s not a lounge-about kinda pool but there is space if you want to sit on your towel etc. shout out to the swimming costume driers in the toilets - a revelation!

Fantastic experience: My first visit and what an amazing place this is. Greeted with a warm welcome by the lady on the desk, clean and modern changing rooms inside and out, warm showers and a spotlessly clean pool in beautiful surroundings. Enough room poolside to relax for a bit if you want to as well and even though I went on a hot day when it was busy, it never felt too crowded. It also showed a true cross-section of society and was clearly being used by locals, with people of all ages, genders and races, which was super refreshing and gave a wonderful vibe. Big shout out to the staff who made my first visit so wonderful.

Fantastic experience: Really great pool, so big that even when very busy you have enough space to swim! You can book in advance and scan your email at the gate, but if you do make sure your phone isn’t in dark mode as the barcode won’t scan correctly! You need pound coins for the lockers of which there are plenty. As well as inside and outside changing areas/cubicles/showers. Such a pleasure!

Fantastic experience: Great pool in a really nice park. Changing rooms are modern, clean and spacious. Pool is always very busy when the weather is good however it's big enough to cope with this.

Negative experience: Easy place to sit and eat, spread your legs if you must but this synthetic textured grass, it’s green colour is more than over-washed. This area has always been available for the working class for the past twenty years, and that sector is the one that makes the most use of the space. Currently, it is the vast majority of 9 to 5 trolley mums, hockey dads and gay parents that have purchased all the flats around. This capital desire of the rich has taken local spaces from the community, that use these places regularly for socialising, and interacting. As for now, filled with upper class, it still isn’t clear from rat infestations and asbestos, so in a way, the poor elements from the 60’s still remain in the area, like a ghost or a mother in law…

Positive experience: It was okay. The pool was nicely heated but the one issue with a lido it is outside. This pool is located just underneath a long set of trees and the pool is full of leaves everywhere. But the nicely heated pool in the not weather is a treat

Fantastic experience: Not going to lie to everyone on here, but this is the best outdoor swimming pool ever! Been coming here for years and the staff are always nice & approachable. The booking system is great & if your a member you can book it via the better app, just make sure to be quick to book your spot during the summer heat wave, spaces go within heart beat. The lockers are £1 via coin there are changing rooms inside & outside along side 2 showers outside. Honestly recommend coming here I always have a great swim !!!

Positive experience: The swimming pool is very nice but it can get super packed, especially during the week. The cafe ran out of food quite early. Some staff members are nice and some not at all. I struggled to get food on the machine and asked for help. You are not allowed to do that and one of the staff members, Bernadette, was quite unice to me making zero effort to help and openly showing how bothered she was for my questions.

Fantastic experience: Hidden gem Always a lovely atmosphere, a bit of a tricky booking system so book ahead online and bring £1 for the lockers and you can’t go wrong! Open all year and a great water temperature even in winter

Fantastic experience: Amazing pool; outdoor and heated means it's perfect for all year round. Pool is run by a great team and the swimming community here is great as well (just book in early in summer to avoid all the people just vanity tanning!)

Fantastic experience: Went swimming here in the morning. This was my first time in over a decade swimming, last time being when I was a child so was a little nervous trying to get back into it. The staff were friendly and reassured us. And they were right, you don’t forget swimming very easily - and I picked it right back up after a little practice. The pool itself, being an outdoor pool, makes for a fantastic experience. I was there while it was raining and it was a sight to behold. This place is also cheaper than tower hamlets pools, for only £5.70 an hour.

Positive experience: This 50m outdoor pool was pretty busy the day I visited but I was very happy to swim outside in this heated pool. It is rather shallow which I'm not used to but it doesn't get in the way of swimming your laps. Staff are friendly. Nice bench to sit on and have a coffee after as you admire London Fields Park.

Fantastic experience: A great pool. Outdoor, 50m and heated. Perfect for early morning winter swims. Lovely team that staff it too.
