Lunar Gymnastics Club: Opinions
Negative experience: Deeply concerning experience — safeguarding issues, poor communication, and refusal to refund. Avoid if you have young children. My children attend several clubs (taekwondo, swimming, football, and another gymnastics club in Paisley), and Lunar has been by far the least organised we have experienced. From our very first day, the children were dropped off and nobody seemed to know they were coming. No one knew their names, no list, no sign-in process. A very young staff member simply took them and told us to “come back at 6.” When we returned at 6pm (on the dot), the children were unsupervised in a publicly accessible waiting area. The front door is unlocked, anyone can walk in, and children could easily walk out into the busy car park. This happened again the following week — again, at 6pm exactly — with no staff present and no sign-in or sign-out procedure. I found this extremely unnerving, as safeguarding procedures in all our other clubs are very robust. The Halloween party incident made everything worse We paid extra for the Halloween party (which overlapped their normal session). At 6:15pm, I received a text asking when I was collecting the children — even though they were supposed to be at the party until 7:30pm. I panicked, because it is common for children to be left unsupervised in that waiting area. I phoned the number several times but couldn’t get through. I then messaged to explain the children were booked into the party. I eventually received a reply saying they had been upset because I “didn’t collect them.” My messages were sent over a five-minute period around 7:15pm, directly replying to the number that had contacted me. I believed this number was an official club contact—because they had contacted me first. Management then told me I had sent “threatening messages at 3am” — which never happened When I raised my concerns, I was told I had sent “threatening messages at 3am” and instructed to delete the coach’s number “immediately.” This was extremely distressing — not only because I had never sent any messages at that time, but because the phrasing implied I had behaved inappropriately by replying to a number the club had used to contact me. Management also said my children were “late to class” on the day of the party — which was untrue, and I provided call-log evidence proving they were dropped off early. Despite asking repeatedly where this false information had come from, no explanation was provided. Safeguarding remains my biggest concern Even after raising very serious concerns — including how easily a child could: leave the building unnoticed, be collected by someone they mistakenly believed was a parent, or be approached in a publicly accessible waiting area — nothing changed. My children were still left unsupervised at pick-up, and there was still no sign-in or sign-out system. No other club my children attend operates like this. Financial concerns I paid £50 for the Christmas “tinsel show,” then discovered we were also expected to pay another £20–£30 to watch the children perform. My kids are 5 and 7 and have only attended a short time, so it felt heavily performance-focused and financially driven compared to other beginner-friendly clubs. After withdrawing them due to safety concerns, I was told there would be no refund for the £50 show fee. In summary No sign-in or sign-out system Children repeatedly left unsupervised in an open public area Serious communication failures Incorrect statements made to us that could not be explained No meaningful improvements after concerns were raised High costs for events aimed even at very young beginners Refusal to refund event fees As a responsible parent, I could not continue sending my children to a club where I did not feel they were adequately safeguarded. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend Lunar for young children.
Fantastic experience: We had birthday for my son turning 5. Excellent. Got full use of the gym and then the room for food was perfect. Morven and her staff were exceptional
Fantastic experience: Great Acro programme and a top class display group. The Titans are among the best, whatever events they attend. And supported by the younger display groups building skills and confidence. Gymnasts are hugely supportive of each other. Great to see them shouting for each other even as rivals in competition. Lots of other activities showing off gymnastics and a big boost to the local youth.
Fantastic experience: Friendly gymnastics club and coaches.
Fantastic experience: This was a great place for my grandson to let off steam. There is no structure and the kids all ran about and climbed and jumped!!!
Fantastic experience: Nice setup
Fantastic experience: Great place got everything you need in 1 place
Positive experience: The mini moon group was good, but could of been longer. Very clean and lots for the kids to use. I didn't like that they don't have access for a pram. They only have stairs.
Fantastic experience: Both my girls love it!! 2 and 4 years old.
Negative experience: Disorganized, unprofessional, we took our kids out of it and onto the Biggar one instead.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic gymnastics club, my daughter thoroughly enjoys her time here. Coaches are great and the facility is wonderful. Would highly recommend to anyone who's child wants to start gymnastics.
