Walpole Bay

Fantastic experience: Walpole Bay is a quieter Margate beach with sand, rock pools, and wide views. The area feels peaceful and less crowded than the main Margate beaches. Facilities are limited, so it’s best to come prepared.

Fantastic experience: The walks, swimming in the tidal pool, the sauna all amazing. Good vibes. Occasionally ruined by your typical English lout who wants to ruin it for everyone. The council plans for the future are promising. Palm Bay next door is a bit more spacious if it gets busy in high season.

Positive experience: One of the good things about being local is you know the quiet beachs this was a good one and used mainly by the local, while the Tourist used the main ones Now all the tourists how found this one and it packed

Positive experience: Picturesque, quiet, still largely unknown to everyone but the locals, a lack of amenities but that will change soon

Fantastic experience: Sandbeach, it is what you need to rest and have joy with friends or family.

Fantastic experience: A pretty and calm and quiet place to be . There is a cafe on the front but its mainly for jet skiers so not open much in the winter though there is another on the clifftop which again will depend on trade . However if the weather is harsh then just ask for the walpole hotel . Always open for tea cream teas and coffee . It has a small bar and does food and is in a quirky art deco style .

Fantastic experience: I loved this tidal pool. I walked along the sand for 35 minutes to get there, and it was fantastic. I felt safe as a woman swimming there at the back, having met another great woman also going for her swim.1.5hrs from London on High Speed HS1. Felt so down as thought 1.5hrs is too long but forgot all about it once I arrived, and literally am floating back on the train very completely happy. Got a Greek takeaway and had it on the beach opposite town centre with music playing across the harbour from the pubs they got there along a Pier or something. The best day of my summer out on my own.

Positive experience: Lovely secluded beach - feels like it could kick off at any point though.

Negative experience: We preferred to go to the beach, towards the city center, because the road through the streets was very ugly and depressing. The seafront, as a landscape, is beautiful, and the chalk cliff is interesting, but there are heaps of algae with an unbearable smell.

Fantastic experience: Une magnifique vue sur les collines anglaises c'est impressionnant on se sent vraiment tout petit face à un tel spectacle. C'est une belle idée de sortie familiale. En fonction de la météo c'est toujours très beau. Que ce soit sous le soleil ou sous la pluie anglaise. C'est un spectacle permanent.
