Fantastic experience: I had the October Hero treatment, which included a back massage, facial, head massage, and OPI nails. I also added a blow dry. From the moment I arrived, I was warmly welcomed and made to feel completely at ease. Olivia is attentive and professional, and each treatment was carried out with exceptional care. I left feeling deeply relaxed, refreshed, and uplifted. Elisia completed the experience with the best blow dry i’ve ever had. She was also extremely welcoming and positive and spent time explaining options about hair extensions for body. I will not hesitate to book in with both team members again.

Fantastic experience: After searching online for a salon in the area as I was attending an interview the next day I booked a blow dry with Freya. On arrival I was met with a very warm welcome, she asked me how I wanted my hair and was very attentive. At the wash basin she asked me if I would like the massager on the chair, why not I thought. A lovely hair wash followed by a wonderful head massage we headed back to the chair for styling. Freyja was really chatty and extremely friendly and polite. She did my hair really nice, I was really pleased with it. Let’s hope it gets me the job. It’s a beautiful salon and I am glad I picked that one along with a lovely stylist, will definitely recommend and will definitely return. Thank you x

Fantastic experience: It always feels like a treat going to Sally Montague’s - it has that relaxing spa atmosphere. All of the staff are calm, welcoming and attentive and, more than anything, 100% professional. They take pride in their work and talk about the opportunities they have for training and development with enthusiasm. I have been happy with all of the stylists in the salon that I, and my children, have used in the salon over the years but I have been particularly impressed with Alex’s knowledge, skills and advice with colour. He has given me confidence back in my hair at a time when it has been changing and understands how to create a more natural look. Sally Montague is not a budget option but it provides a high level of service and a touch of luxury that makes it worth paying a bit extra for!

Fantastic experience: I have been coming to Ashbourne salon since 2019 , I tend to stay very loyal to a hairdresser if it ticks all the boxes which Sally Montague does. Their staff are trained well it’s an excellent starting point in a persons career into hairdressing and beauty and they train them well. I have 2 preferred people I stay with which is Angel And Alex both I trust with my hair I always feel great once I’ve been , my appts are every 5 weeks and I always look forward to them. You always receive a warm welcome so for experience and products used I am more than pleased and this is why I stay. The condition of my hair has vastly improved since I first started visiting the Sally Montague salon. I can’t say anymore than that really if you are looking for a great hairdressers I highly recommend them. KT

Negative experience: Unfortunately was not impressed with my visit to the salon today. I had booked in for a 55 minute massage but was disappointed when my treatment ended just 35 minutes after it commenced (I had made a note of the time as soon as my treatment began and again checked my phone when the therapist left for me to get dressed). I made the receptionist aware of this when I was leaving as I was not willing to pay in full for a treatment that ended around 15 minutes short, a small amount was deducted but not enough to cover the time that was actually lost from the massage. I would recommend The Lounge in Ashbourne if you are looking for treatments in the area.

Fantastic experience: Visiting the hair salon for the first time was a lovely experience. The staff were welcoming and offered me a drink right away. The salon had a clean and elegant atmosphere. During my hair wash, I was pleasantly surprised to find myself in a massage chair! The woman washing my hair treated me to a lovely head massage as well. After that, the amazing Grase came to cut my hair, and I found myself laughing more than I ever have during a haircut. She did an excellent job, and I couldn't be happier with the result.

Negative experience: Unfortunately I had a bad experience here using the HD Brows treatment. I do have a fair amount of eyebrow hair and I ended up leaving the salon with what can only be described as 90s style eyebrows(the heavily overplucked look). One of my eyebrows is thicker than the other and without asking, the technician Grace decided to wax most of the thicker eyebrow off to match the slimmer eyebrow. The whole point of HD Brows is to give you thicker, fuller Brows! This made me feel extremely self conscious and I'm still bitterly disappointed now, even a few weeks after the appointment. Also, the technician did no threading or applying and "brow make up" which is standard for HD Brow appointment. The appointment also lasted less than 20mins when a full HD Brow treatment should last 40-45mins if done correctly. I essentially just had a wax(inclusive of taking off nearly all my eyebrows!) And tint for the price of a HD Brow treatment. I just hope they grow back as they should otherwise the technician has ruined my face forever! Of course I immediately complained to the salon manager and after internal conversation, I was only offered the opportunity to come back in to have a correction made but it could only be with the same technician as she is the only one qualified. I said if I come back in and let her touch them again, I'll have no eyebrows left!!! Not only that I had lost all faith in her ability. The only other alternative they offered was a partial refund of the difference between a HD Brow and Brow wax/tint which came to a measly total of £7.50 which quite frankly is appalling customer service. I would never touch this salon ever again and if you value your eyebrows, I advise you to also go elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: Grace did my eyebrows today and it was the most excellent experience I’ve ever had with an eyebrow wax anywhere. She made sure I was comfortable throughout and did whatever she could to try and improve the experience even more. Everything was 10/10. Thankyou Grace!

Negative experience: I was bought a gift voucher by my sister last Christmas and only got round to using it on the 7th September this year. I cannot fault the service itself however the after care has been appalling. I was told that the card had no money on it and was forced to pay for the service, this was extremely embarrassing on a busy Saturday morning where I was made to feel like a criminal. It certainly tainted the relaxing experience. I then received a call saying that it was your fault and that the money had been taken from my sister but not put on the card. I explicitly asked for a refund back to my card which I was told would happen on the following Monday. I rang and checked on the Tuesday that it had been processed and was rudely told that it takes up to 5 days and was still going through. Let me say at this point I had still not received an apology. Roll on 1 week later and the money is still not back in my account. I rang again today and was told that they cannot refund to credit cards and they had put the money on my account. This to me seems like clear fraud, you have taken my sisters money and my money in the hope I will forget and not check the refund has processed. If you could not refund to a credit card you could have rung me on Monday the 9th and told me this instead of squirrelling my money away. Again I was spoken to dismissively and not given an apology. I have honestly never been party to such disgusting customer service. Presumably this complaint will get ignored to, as that seems to be how you train your staff!

Fantastic experience: Steph is phenomenal! I feel very fortunate to have found her after moving from Toronto a year ago. It’s always nerve-wracking changing stylists, but I’ve never been happier. She’s extremely talented, magically manages to keep my blonde healthy(!), and is just lovely to boot :) Absolutely top - best of everyone I’ve been to in Toronto, New York and London over the years. The salon itself is a beautiful, chic space and you feel pampered after a visit.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely fantastic salon. Stephanie has done my hair countless times over the past few years, and is always incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. Her attention to detail is second to none, and she’s always more than happy to provide her expertise on ways to improve my hair’s health. She’s also always been more than happy to discuss new ideas I’ve had for my hair, and work with me in order to create my dream shade of colour. The front of house staff are always incredibly welcoming, and the overall vibe is fantastic.

Negative experience: I can only review this business after seeing my granddaughters hair after 2 hours in the salon. Her hair had been coloured and supposedly blow dried. The process had been so slow and badly managed that the blow dry had to be done in around 10 minutes; my granddaughter has a LOT of long thick hair. She arrived at my house looking like Worzel Gummidge, crying and late for work. I had never seen her hair look so awful. The colour was DREADFUL. The cost of this £119 because it was done by a senior stylist. In summary, I had been thinking of trying this salon myself. I am 70 with bad hair. When I saw what they did to her, I would never set foot in the place.

When Megan moved to Sally Montagues I just had to follow even though I live in Leicestershire. The hour long trip is well worth the time and effort. Now I have the same wonderful hairdresser who works in an amazing salon.

So happy I did. I spoke with Sophie on reception who was so helpful, we booked my mum in for a massage , highlights, roots , restyle and blow dry. Alex chose the perfect colours and style for my mum. A manicure and pedi - luxe. WOW !!! my mums hair was amazing and after her massage with Eloise, my mum actually walked and stood better, Her feet were soft and smooth and her nails looked so pretty, manicure perfect, again with Eloise. hence she’s been for another massage and blow dry, She said the salon is so relaxing, very modern and clean.the staff are wonderful and the service excellent. We have already booked her Hair for Christmas Eve, it’s now her salon of choice. Thank you all at Sally’s for making my mum feel special and important I definitely recommend this Salon for a great experience.can’t wait to try it out myself when I next visit Ashbourne.

I booked in at Sally Montague’s and met my hairdresser Steph who just instantly made me feel so welcome, like I had known her for years and gave me the reassurance of how friendly everyone is in Ashbourne. All of the staff at Sally Montague just beam with the same sense of kindness, friendliness and welcoming that as a new client, made me feel like I’d found my “one” when it came to a trusted hairdressers and also a place to relax and be pampered. Fantastic experience: I always treat myself by booking myself in at Sally Montague in Ashbourne!! My mum and I have been coming here for years now, and we have (nearly!!) explored all their services. This salon is the definition of luxury, and we have always been so impressed by the staff’s high quality treatments, but also their super friendly loveliness ☺️ Not to mention that the salon itself (which always smells amazing!) is made so welcome by it’s light and super welcoming atmosphere. Every time I go, there is a lovely receptionist waiting to greet and take care of me as soon as I walk in :) Sophia, in particular, does a fantastic job making my nails gorgeous every time I come to her and I always leave with a smile on my face. Fantastic experience: Very impressed with this hair salon! After having a traumatic experience with a different salon about 1.5-2 years ago, I finally braved getting a haircut again! I told the receptionist on the phone about how nervous I was to get it cut and he proceeded to ask me about my hair type, what I wanted doing, why I was nervous etc which immediately made me feel comfortable. He then recommended Isobel for a cut as he thought she’d be sensitive to my fears! He was right, I went in to get my hair cut & Isobel was so lovely, she told me that her mum had been through the same hair trauma when she was a kid so she knew exactly where I was coming from. She cut my hair beautifully and she could see exactly what I meant about the old style. Thank you Isobel, I absolutely love my new hair and for the first time ever I am actually looking forward to getting my hair cut again! The salon itself is lovely and clean, if you are worried about Covid measures then don’t be - they have done everything possible to keep people safe. All of the staff were lovely, including all of the receptionists. They also have a great range of hair and beauty products available to buy - all in a really well decorated / furnished setting. Overall a fantastic experience. I highly recommend!

Negative experience: Cannot justify £29 for a gents haircut. I have been going to SM Ashbourne for roundabout 18 months. I don't mind paying £23 but suddenly an extra charge of £11 (hairwash + facemask ) is unreasonable in these difficult times. My wife and I always go together, and on the back of that, I have enrolled her twice for the 100 club and purchased a large amount of toiletries. Sometimes people are a little short sighted.

Fantastic experience: Beautiful, state of the art salon in Ashbourne town centre. I have followed my stylist here from where she worked previously - so was already very happy with the service I was getting - but this salon really is something else. My only minor criticism is I’d like the option of a proper nice coffee eg a cappuccino or a flat white. Otherwise FAULTLESS.

Fantastic experience: The BACK, FACE & SCALP TREATMENT is worth every penny. I have just had the most relaxing 85 minutes of my life (seriously). After welcoming me into a lovely warm candle lit treatment room, my therapist Amelia talked me through the various Espa oils she would be using a let me select my favourite scents. She started with a facial cleanse, followed by a fabulous back massage which took me right to the edge of my pain barrier, but not quite over it, and gradually worked out the tension in the back of my shoulders. A bowl of hot water with scented oil had been placed under the bed so I could inhale the calming vapours throughout the massage, which ended with hot stones. Then the full facial and scalp massage, with hair treatment, which I can't tell you much about because it was so relaxing it put me to sleep! The extended length of time allowed me to fully relax as it takes my mind a long time to fully unwind, overall a wonderful experience which I would recommend to anyone who is busy and stressed.
