Negative experience: One of the worst experiences I’ve ever had with a running shop. Completely unprofessional staff and the woman behind the counter was rude and disrespectful towards me.

Fantastic experience: Popped in last minute, last Thursday and the team in the shop were lovely and super helpful. Explained what I wanted, and they found me a selection of lovely shoes very quickly. I was worried that I wouldn’t find a pair I liked, but they had a lot of choice - in a lot of lovely colours. No pushy sales, but genuine advice. Feel like I can run much better! Would definitely recommend.

Fantastic experience: Bought some trainers from here a few weeks ago, opted for the gait analysis and was given a wide range of trainers to try. Yes, I paid a little more than online but very happy with my purchase especially given the service. I had previously had some issues with knee pain and shin splints and these trainers stopped this however I then began to develop quite significant blisters and it became clear that the shoes maybe were not the best fit for me. I took the shoes back to seek some advice (alongside the gruesome images of my feet) hoping for some special sock or shoe tying technique! I was immediately, without any question, offered a very sincere apology and was again offered a gait analysis. I was then matched up with a different type of shoe which was better suited for my run style. Faultless service and will 100% be back in the future :)

Fantastic experience: Visited the shop today for a gait analysis, was quite nervous as I didn’t know what to expect and was worried that I’d feel pressured into buying the most expensive trainers. The staff were absolutely amazing, really welcoming and the gentleman that helped me was so helpful, he talked me through everything, offered me great advice and recommendations. He helped me really understand what shoe worked best and why, and what wouldn’t work. Really appreciated it and came away with a great pair of shoes. Would recommend this shop to anyone looking for a gait analysis or even just needing to shop for trainers, walking boots, even socks etc

The Lets-run team took the time to research, seek advice from different manufacturers, order a selection of possible suitors, then contact me when backpacks arrived to try them out! We are so lucky to have a team with such experience and passion for running on our doorstep, this race pack was the most recent of numerous occasions the guys have helped me out with gear and nutrition! Fantastic experience: We called into this store yesterday, and the lady was absolutely fabulous. Our granddaughter has just started running and has been selected to represent the district at the Cleveland County Championships, we haven't a clue on running shoes, this lady didn't know the course our Granddaughter was running, but got on her phone to find out from someone who did, she advised us on what shoes she needed, took an interest in our granddaughter running. We weren't pressured into buying any shoes, but we were so happy that we did. Knowing that our granddaughter now has the right shoes to run in is such a relief for us, The lady also gave our granddaughter a pair of running socks free, she even asked if we would let her know how's she got on. One very friendly kind lady. The first choice of shoes were half price she offered us, and they are perfect. We will be returning

Fantastic experience: Update 08/11 after an injury I went to lets run today for a gait analysis and could not have had better service from Shelli; what a lovely lady, really helpful/informative and personalised service. I will be back every time I need something running related. Cannot recommend enough! My partner and I went to Let's Run this weekend needing some new trainers for walking/running. From the second we walked in everyone was smiley and friendly (including their beautiful spaniel). The two gentlemen that came to help us were so helpful and informative and helped us make the right decision. They asked what it was we wanted, a bit about our lifestyle and went off ...I wasn't expecting them to walk down the stairs with 6/7 boxes of trainers for us do try on; a great idea! We were both intending on buying Hoka but neither of us ended up with them but ended up with the shoe that was most comfortable for us. Unlike your usual 'shoe shop'/outdoor store we were told we could go outside have a run up and down and get a real feel for the trainer. It's little things like this that go along way. We won't buy our trainers from anywhere else now! Fantastic service the whole time

Fantastic experience: Second pair of running shoes bought from Lets Run. They are very knowledgeable and accomodating. They ordered two additional pairs of shoes, which arrived in a couple of days for me to try on to ensure I had the best fit. Highly recommended!

Negative experience: I (unfortunately) had a really bad experience with this shop today. Last week I went into let’s run to buy some HOKA trainers. The sales staff told me they might not be the trainer for me so they would have to measure my tread before I decided on a trainer (this wasn’t my intention as I just wanted some HOKAs however I was grateful for their advice at the time!) I ended up choosing a different pair of trainers than I originally intended following advice of sales assistant that HOKAs aren’t suited to runners with neutral treads. This wasn’t an issue at all at the time - however the price of £180 was a shock when coming to paying at the till. I was emailed a receipt and took my trainers home -I was advised I could come back with the trainers ( and receipt) if I had any issues within 2 weeks. 7 days later I took the trainers back as I wasn’t keen on the colour and also wasn’t happy with the fact I had spent £180 on a pair of trainers. I had not used the trainers AT ALL, they were perfect and hadn’t been out of their box. Upon taking the trainers back the shop owner explained they operated an exchange only policy so I could choose something else whilst in the shop or get a gift receipt. This was a HUGE shock, this was never explained to me, there are no signs in the shop stating this, and the receipt also contained 0 information on the exchange only policy. 30 minutes after this and having a thorough look through my proof of purchase receipt I rang the store explaining my issue and querying the lack of information around the exchange only policy. The shop owner was incredibly rude to me during this phonecall. She laughed at me during the conversation, literally groaning “oh my gooooood” down the phone at one point during the call? She claimed that the receipt explains the exchange only policy - until she realised it in fact did not. Upon realising I had never been made aware of the exchange only policy the shop owner agreed to offer a refund however she said she would deduct the price of the “tread measuring” off my refund. NEVER was it explained the “tread measuring” service had a cost, especially when I visited the store with no intent of getting my tread measured (I simply just wanted some HOKA trainers). During this phonecall conversation the shop owner stated I had her sales assistants “running around” after me - by this I can only assume she means the sales assistants going to get my sized trainers. The whole interaction was awful and honestly made me feel really small. Please be wary of the non-refund policy this shop operates as it is not stated at any time during the buying process. The way in which the shop owner spoke to me was soooo condescending and it was overall just a really awful experience! My mum and dad have bought several pairs of trainers from this shop over the past couple of years and are just as shocked as me at the complete rudeness I was shown today.

Fantastic experience: Just bought some lovely shoes. Very friendly service, had a good chat and a good laugh and when the owner came in she brought her two beautiful dogs which was definitelya plus. Got fitted, found out about my running style and they accommodated to my budget. Very kind of them, if I need running shoes again I'd defos save up and come back again and maybe buy some that aren't on sale Went from running in primark shoes to something that actually won't break my feet anymore, thanks for the help

Fantastic experience: The friendliest, most knowledgeable and kindest ppl to buy running gear from. All the ppl that work there have amazing knowledge and genuinely care about their customers and their running journey. It was packed at 3pm today yet Alan still came over and made time for me to try on the shoes. He listened to what I needed and the issues with my "man feet" and within minutes I had chosen my shoes! Alan and another guy working there made my little girl giggle playing with her pretend dog on her piece of string and gave her a biscuit which she was over the moon with! Shelli and her team are brilliant and I would defo recommend to any kind of runner to drop in x

I was looking for new trail shoes and they were very knowledgeable with a great selection and even better when the pair that was the best fit, were in the sale. Fantastic experience: Such a brilliant shop with all your running equipment and needs. I have been twice now and love going back to see what the shop has in each time. The staff and great really friendly and on hand to help and have a great knowledge of the items and running event. When you visit you feel at home with other like mind runners who enjoy being out and being muddy and just enjoy running. If you need to know about what is suited for running needs these are the guys and woman to go too.

Fantastic experience: Very rare I have a service so good it prompts me to leave a review! Such kind and knowledgeable staff. I felt like not only did I leave with the perfect pair of running shoes for my runs but also knowing much more about my own running and running as a whole! He genuinely took the time, I tried on and tested so many different shoes until I came to a decision myself. Not once did I feel any pressure to buy them there and then or like they just wanted a sale out of me like you would find with a lot of big chain stores. You can tell they’re all about the running community and I even left feeling very inspired to join a local running club! They definitely know what they’re talking about and insisted if I have any more questions I can just pop in for a chat and they’ll be happy to help. Always support lovely little independents like this!!

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend! It was my first time in Let’s Runne on Saturday. I’ve started running this year (now obsessed, haha) & I had been recommended to go to Let’s runne for some new trainers & to have a gait analysis. The whole experience was so lovely, I was welcomed right away & all the staff are so helpful & noting was too much trouble. I even got offered a cup of tea! It’s the personal small things that make a shopping experience so nice & buying from a small business. I tried a selection of trainers on, and bought a new pair of brooks. As well as some race magnets & some electrolytes! 5* shopping experience. Thank you! xx

Negative experience: Warning! Pushy sales tequnique, only wanted a fitting. Left with shoes I didn't want. Wasn't even told how much they were until the manager held the card machine towards us after keying in an unknown amount. No prices on anything. No signs to say, no refunds. We were not told there were no refunds at any point. It does say online that refunds are available. Took the shoes back unopened, untouched. Only to be informed we would not get our money back, that the £120 would be made in a credit note. When I complained they saw it fit to still keep our money and gave us an orange carrier bag with a pair of filthy, sweaty, muddy old trainers in there which had been discarded by a previous customer. I expressed my disgust at the way our situation had been handed and in front of other customers the shop assistant full belly laughed at us. These are the shoes they handed us. This is robbery.

Fantastic experience: Utterly fantastic service. Tried on I don't know how many shoes, was able to go out and run around in them to check for fit and compatibility. Great advice and service from Shelli and a genuine feel that the number one consideration was that I got the right shoes for me. Will definetly be the first port of call for all future running requirements. Highly recommended

Fantastic experience: Went in after buying new shoes somewhere else and experiencing really bad calf pain in them for a number of months. Wasn't really sure what I was looking for but got some great advice and they let me try on a bunch of shoes and take them for a spin (outside not on a treadmill!). Ended up with a pair of Saucony Tempus and today I ran my first pain free 5k since February. I highly recommend these guys, friendly and patient and they really seem to care about getting you running above all else. Thank You!

I’ve only purchased from them online but each order comes with a handwritten note which is a great touch. Delivery is quick and their prices are reasonable, I wish we had their shop up in north Scotland

Fantastic experience: We went in to pick up a running harness for our dog, Mabel. Shelli offered to fit it and made absolutely sure it was correct before we bought it - along with providing lots of treats for Mabel too which means she has a new best friend! I cannot recommend them enough for all running-related needs and I can confirm that Mabel loves her new harness! we often order socks etc. from the website but will definitely be back to the shop too for the friendly welcome!

Fantastic experience: For a relative newbie to running I was questioning whether I had the correct footwear, sizing and fit for my running style. I felt a little lost and short on knowledge until Shelli at 'Lets Run' was put to me as a recommendation by my local physio. So decided to pay a visit to the little shop in Great Ayton and wow, was I impressed.. (quick note) push the front door a little harder to get in, my feeble attempt to get in definitely drew some chuckles. Once in there I met Shelli who was listened to my back story and ambitions and then proceeded to blow my mind with her knowledge, customer service and attention to detail in terms of my requirements. I went in with a complete open mind in terms of the brand I wanted as I just wanted something that felt good when I ran in it. She had me running up and down the street in so many different pairs to try until we narrowed it down to 2-3 pairs then more running with split pairs to compare on my weaker leg (hip flexor). I finally settled on a pair of HOKA Clifton 9 and now I feel I have the confidence to go out and tackle those miles of tarmac with the perfect shoes for me. I will definitely be back to see Shelli and the team in the future and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone in paying a visit there. A brilliant and knowledgeable local business who we should be delighted to support. Well done and thank you.

Fantastic experience: I can only echo the other reviews on here. Shelli & Harry were awesome. I’ve never been to a ‘real’ running shop before and felt quite a bit of trepidation going in, but I was made to feel at ease and cared about from minute 1. There was no rushing, no hard sell and no pressure. They spent time seeing how I ran in different shoes to check my gait to ensure the right type of shoe. They checked the fit and made sure I was happy. This is why buying local is better than than online. I can’t recommend this place enough.

Fantastic experience: Popped in to get some advice on running trainers as I don't do many miles but when I do it's painful so decided to get a proper pair to suit my needs to see if it helps my running. What a friendly & helpful shop nothing was to much trouble. The nice lady looked at my gait while running & let me try on quite a few sets to suit my dodgy ankles. Visited let's run for some more shoes, the shoes had a manufacturing fault and fell apart. Returned to lets run, they have returned them to manufacturers who have admitted the issue. Got a spare pair of shoes until the new ones can be sent out. Fantastic customer service. It shows use a good local shop. July 22 update. New Saucony Endorphin Trails collected yesterday and they are great fun to run in. Combine cushioning and speedroll makes them encourage you to run faster downhill. The cushioning helps absorb the stones and lumps giving a smooth ride. Thank you for the great customer service.

Fantastic experience: I was served by young Harry, who I have to admit appeared very young so I was not sure about his level of competence recommending running trainers. I was very wrong in my first impression - he was extremely professional and knowledgeable and very patient. I took quite a while to choose the right shoes and he helped me narrow my choices down. Would highly recommend Let's Run in Stokesley if you are a beginner or a seasoned runner, you will not be disappointed.
