Fantastic experience: Starting Reformer pilates with Innes at the Leeds studio was a really good decision. It is satisfying to know i have a weekly commitment to helping my body become more flexible as I age. My initial complaint has improved a lot and has stayed improved. It is also a good small group atmosphere where everyone has their own programme coordinated by Innes. There isn't a sense that we are in competition with each other, which I also like.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to Innes's classes for about a year now. I originally went with frozen shoulder and lower back pain. I was amazed when, during my very first session, he was able to identify areas of tension just by observing me walk in and sit down. He is very knowledgeable and always tailors the exercises to the individual. My flexibility improved within a few weeks and now I really notice it if I haven't been. The fact he has a loyal following who have been with him for many years is testament to how good the classes are!

Fantastic experience: When I started reformer pilates a few weeks ago I was suffering with really bad lower back pain. I have seen a massive improvement thanks to these sessions with Innes. I initially had a one to one with Innes who listened carefully to my history, symptoms and put together a personal programme based on my needs. Innes is fantastic, very knowledgeable and extremely patient. I genuinely look forward to my Thursday sessions, they are very laid back, informal, friendly but also productive. Fantastic experience: It's only been four weeks but already I've noticed a distinct improvement in my mobility and suppleness. Simple things like getting in and out of my rather low car have become easier; stretching more when working in the garden is also a bonus and makes my main hobby even more enjoyable. Sitting for long periods at the cricket is more comfortable. Of course, there are ups and downs but at 74 Ian's Pilates sessions have definitely improved my quality of life. Thank you.

Fantastic experience: I started attending weekly sessions around 4 months ago after experiencing pain and tightness in my hips, particularly during and after playing golf but also just walking the dog. After an initial induction session I have been working on specific exercises to both loosen and strengthen areas of weakness. I already feel the benefit in my daily life with less pain and tightness all over my body. Innes my instructor is very knowledgeable and targets my weekly sessions to how my body is that week. There are a range of machines in the studio and with a maximum of five in a class at once the atmosphere is very friendly and social but also a lot of direct advice and feedback from the instructor. I would recommend anyone who wants to improves their flexibility and strength to give it a try.
Simon, as you will know, it's quite natural to think of things like walking the dog and a game of golf as a given. Unfortunately of course, as time moves on, our bodies begin to question this. Many people believe that they have to live with reduced mobility. You of course now know differently. We are really pleased that reformer Pilates is working for you, and that you will be able to enjoy walking the dog and playing golf far into the future.
Fantastic experience: I started equipment based pilates for the first time a few months ago as recurrent back, shoulder and neck pain and spasms was affecting my day to day life, and regular mat classes and osteopathappointments only helped short term. I was scheduled to have a steroid injection at the end of February but after attending the Leeds Pilates in Bramhope every week for a few weeks I didn't need the injection. As the classes are small you get a personalised programme and Ian is great at teaching each exercise and helping you with which ones to do. I always feel better after I have been and my muscles seem to be getting stronger as I haven't had any spasms since starting. I'm now working towards building my strengh up and easing a whiplash injury from almost 20 years ago. I wish I had found equipment based pilates sooner!

Fantastic experience: I started pilates at Leeds Pilates Centre a few month ago to improve my flexibility and help with muscle tightness due to weight lifting. The instructors are very knowledgeable and tailor exercises to your needs in a small group setting. I go to Innes’s sessions and can’t recommend him enough for anyone wanting to take up pilates. He takes time to understand your needs and explains each exercise until you get the proper form. The studio is very well equipped with multiple reformers.

Fantastic experience: I have been attending Ian's classes for a couple of months now. When I first arrived I was suffering from horrible sciatica and back pain caused by a herniated spinal disc. I was on strong medications (gabapentin and duluxotine) multiple times a day to keep the pain at bay. Through a special personalised programme, Ian was able to help me gain my mobility and peace of mind back. I have now managed to come off my medication completely and can sit, stand and lay comfortably without experiencing discomfort and pain. Ian was very good at explaining every step and its benefits thoroughly, he handled me with great professionalism and care. Fantastic experience: I would highly recommend this place. It is great for strengthening those support muscles that you use day to day. The reformer sleds and equipment used are top notch and hard to find anywhere else. On top of that the expertise offered by Innes is amazing. He knows his stuff just by watching your movements can help identify weaknesses and recommend corrective exercises. He has helped me recover from pains introduced from a heavy trainning regime, knees, shoulders and back to name a few. This has resulted in me being able to proceed improve in all areas.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to sessions here for 12 weeks now and the difference in the discomfort I was experiencing with muscle spasms is incredible. Nothing has relieved so much, being pulverised by a physio for an hour only lasted a day or so. I was recommended to try reformer Pilates by an ex police sniper who had to retire due to disc issues ( basically he doesn’t have all of them now) who said it had made a massive difference to him. I’m very grateful for that chance conversation now.
Lots of our clients are referred to us by third parties, but they are usually physiotherapists or back pain clinics. You are the first to arrive via a police sniper! Fantastic experience: I'd stopped doing pilates for a three years and wanted to get back into after moving to Leeds. The classes with Innes have really helped me get stronger and helped in my training for a first half marathon in eight years. Our 25 + years of experience allows us to develop an effective personal programme of exercises for each client, but we do also try to keep things light. As a studio we expect to see pain reduction, but it's also very important that clients look forward to their sessions. Fantastic experience: I've been coming to Leeds Pilates Centre for about a year now after finally taking the advice of my Chiropractor and after many years of chronic neck and back pain. Reformer pilates appealed to me as it seemed better suited to my needs and how I prefer to exercise too. Innes is very experienced, knowledgeable and personable and at the very first consultation he quickly identified where my issues stemmed from and how best to address them. After only a couple of months I noticed less pain and aching and more freedom of movement all round. However, I feel that the key is definitely about consistency and patience. Innes continues to offer me advice and varies my individual programme depending on my needs as well as any other injuries I may get from other sports or activities I'm doing. The small classes, usually no more than 5, is also a bonus. Highly recommend

Your much appreciated review, identifies exactly the route that chronic pain sufferers can follow, to help achieve a meaningful reduction in their pain levels with reformer Pilates. As you have pointed out, the requirements are; find an experienced Pilates teacher who teaches a progressive individual programme of exercises in small group sessions. All that is then required is for the client to be consistent.

Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend Leeds Pilates Centre enough! The small class sizes mean that you are able to follow your own exercise routine tailored to your needs and Innes (Instructor) can guide and advise you individually. Reformer Pilates has really helped with my lower back pain and my flexibility and posture is much improved. Everyone is very friendly and Innes goes out of his way to make classes enjoyable. Worth every penny, give it a go and you won’t be disappointed!
Reformer Pilates has been around for about 100 years, yet it continues to remain undiscovered by most people. Nevertheless, we are really pleased that you discovered it for yourself Katy and of course glad to hear that it's working for you. Lower back pain doesn't kill, but it can sure make your life miserable if left unaddressed. Keep on with your Pilates Katy, and it should remain a thing of the past.

Fantastic experience: I started Pilates because my lower back pain was getting worse from sitting in an office chair all day. Fast forward 9 months and i cant remember the last time my back was aching. My overall body strength and tone has improved and i really look forward to the class every week, it’s great to leave feeling that i have accomplished something good for my body. The instructor is really friendly, he does listen and will change things if they need to be altered. Fantastic experience: I have taken Pilates lessons at Leeds Pilates Centre for approximately three months. Honestly, it has surpassed my expectations; I suffer from chronic hip flexor pain and an injured, fractured shoulder rotator cuff in numerous ways. The personalised programme Ian built for me has allowed me to target my injuries and the quality of instruction from Ian and the studio equipment, as well as the professional atmosphere, has resulted in a reduction of pain and an increase in the strength and flexibility of my injured points. Fantastic experience: I have been going to Leeds Pilates Centre for about 4 months now and have learnt a lot about what makes my back pain worst and what makes it better and to be more mindful about how I exercise. I'm definitely starting to feel improvements in my posture and general core strength and looking forward to see how much improvement I can achieve. The machines are great as they allow for progression, and Ian's brilliant at keeping your form and posture DVD-ready!

For anyone unfamiliar with the reference here - when teaching, it's common for me to indicate that a client who is performing an exercise.particularly well (or not ) could be placed towards the front when we produce a DVD. Fantastic experience: I have been attending Leeds Pilates for a little over a year and it is without a doubt the highlight of my week. Each session I can feel myself progressing and becoming stronger through the bespoke programme that Ian has devised for me. What is lovely about Leeds Pilates Centre is that Ian uses his expert knowledge to ensure that every week is different, either by teaching me a new exercise on either the reformer or the CoreAlign, or by developing an existing technique / exercise. I genuinely leave each session physically and mentally rejuvenated…. and my weakened core is definitely getting there! This is the best exercise that I have ever done… and something that I would wholeheartedly recommended. No word from of a lie in that it has transformed my health and wellbeing.
Most Pilates cients achieve measurable gains in their personal Pilates goals but few fully understand how and why this comes about. It is of course achieved by following a structured routine and then safely advancing though specific bespoke exercises, that progressively become more difficult and jointly by the introduction of some new Pilates exercises that are appropriate to each individual client. You clearly understand this Steph and added together with your enthusiasm, humour and commitment, it has resulted in a marked improvement in your core strength, postural alignment and body toning.

Fantastic experience: Pilates with Ian are a highlight of my week! After having two children my core was very weak and the exercises I was doing in the gym weren’t cutting it. A few weeks into Pilates I noticed my whole body becoming stronger, leaner and my core felt stable again. The exercises tailored to me and my goals have increased my flexibility, I walk taller, with more confidence and ease. I find Pilates a challenging yet meditative experience, my focus is fully switched on throughout the session and I always leave on a high. Quality instruction with top of the range equipment. Fantastic experience: I have been going to Leeds Pilates for several months now; have solved the problem with my hip that defeated the physio and and have noticed a huge difference in my overall strength. The group sessions are small (4-5) and are effectively individual coaching as Innes tailors exercises to each person. Fantastic experience: I started reformer pilates with Innes almost a year ago. I'd been suffering from hip pain and thought I'd give pilates a try to help with the problem. I now only notice the pain when I haven't done pilates. It's also helped me to improve my overall strength and I can definitely see a difference in my muscle tone which is a nice bonus. Innes runs brilliant sessions focussed on the needs of each individual, such a refreshing change from massive group classes with a 'one size fits all' approach. The sessions are friendly, calm and relaxed. Innes know just the right amount of challenge to provide to help me progress with my strength work. Pilates is the only exercise class I've ever done, where I don't watch the clock and wish it to be over, I really look forward to it each week! Fantastic experience: Unfortunately due to work commitments I have had to cut my reformer journey short. What I would say is that in my short time I’ve met a great bunch of people. Ian is has been a great teacher tailoring my exercises to my needs which I have found to have had positive results from.I hope the best for the team and hope to rejoin in the future.

Fantastic experience: I'm am now a total advocate of equipment based pilates for back pain and keep telling everyone who will listen to try it. Had about 18 months of low level pain that was causing me to lose sleep. Tried GP, short courses of prescription painkillers, NHS physio, private physio, various home exercises with not much luck. After a couple of sessions with Innes I started to feel the benefits and now it's totally solved and my back and core strength is better than ever. I'm a climber and have kept up the pilates as the benefits to my climbing have been very noticeable. Great personalised support from Innes, small class sizes, 100% recommended.

Fantastic experience: I had considerable back and hip pain and my GP suggested Reformer Pilates. I have been coming here for about 3 months and the pain has virtually gone. I can go for longish walks again and I feel much stronger and better aligned. Innes really knows his stuff and has given me specific exercises for my problems. The sessions are small ensuring enough individual attention from Innes. They’re enjoyable too - friendly and supportive. I would recommend Innes’s classes to anyone with back and/or hip issues.
Commonly GPs would direct patients such as yourself to a physiotherapist but not so often to reformer Pilates. It isn't just the localised back pain itself that impacts us. It is all of the other ways that it can negatively affect our lives. Movements that we normally take for granted are affected and restricted by back pain.

Fantastic experience: Thought I’d give Reformer Pilates a go for just a short while, mainly to improve my overall core strength ~ I’m now hooked and really notice if I miss my weekly practice. Reformer Pilates has helped me to feel generally stronger & leaner, the exercises also continue to help identify all the other areas I still have that would benefit from improvement. Innes keeps his professional eye on each individual throughout your session and is fantastic at spotting & directing your focus to areas in need; he always provides individualised additional challenges as and when you want them too ! Fantastic experience: Innis has been coaching me for over 3 months, and my flexibility and posture have improved. His personal attention means my exercise program is tailored towards those muscles that need strengthening the most. There are never more than 2 or 3 other people at a time, so Innis is quick to spot who needs help to fine-tune a movement or stretch.

Fantastic experience: Suffering with an ankle problem which was threatening to affect a planned walking holiday, I attended the initial assessment with Innes last April. He explained to me how my knee issues were affecting my ankle & showed me how to exercise to improve both on the amazing equipment in the pleasant studio. He guided me through an individualised programme, as he does with each of his clients.(About 5 per session, each with their own programme, according to their needs) He is a highly experienced instructor with a friendly, encouraging approach & I was not only able to go on my walking holiday, but am also able to enjoy my weekly sessions, & the resulting improved strength in my whole body.

Fantastic experience: I have nothing but good words to say about this place. I hadn't been to Pilates before - mainly because I find stretching muscles uncomfortable and unenjoyable, so I was a little nervous to begin with, but I didn't need to worry. Innes (the guy that runs the sessions) has a fountain of knowledge, and keeps the sessions light-hearted, yet informative, and understands your abilities. Innes will work with you, and listen to your feedback, and sets the exercises accordingly. I play a lot of sport, and Pilates is definitely helping to address a lot of the aches and pains I had. Learning more about how the body works is eye-opening, and I've been injury free for some months now. I can highly recommend this place for Pilates, the equipment is from another planet, it's really cutting edge, none of that resistant band stuff, and Innes is guaranteed to make you laugh out loud at least once every session. Fantastic experience: Love the pilates classes with Ian. He is so knowledgeable and patient and tailors the session to your needs. Great for strengthening your core and overall toning. Fantastic experience: I spend my day sat at a desk or on the sofa on my laptop if I'm working from home and as a result I was getting back pain. Fantastic experience: I have been attending reformer classes with Ian for the past 6 months. I have used the reformer in classes for many years but the sessions with Ian are specific and personalised. As a physio myself I truly appreciate his knowledge and attention to detail. I have attended other reformer classes in Leeds, but Ian and Leeds Pilates Center are by far the best for quality, value for money and most importantly experience and expertise.

Fantastic experience: I came to reformer Pilates with back, hip and knee pain. Ian’s expertise allowed him to tailor a diverse range of exercises for my multiple needs, and after a few months of attending classes my strength has improved, such that I can do normal activities pain free. The classes are small allowing for a lot of attention through the exercises, so it’s the perfect class for beginners to Pilates. Ian is very supportive and his witty jokes keep me smiling through the core exercises.

Fantastic experience: After 4 years of mat Pilates & a partial knee replacement I knew I needed a different approach to help my rehab. Met with Innis who took on board everything about my issues. After 6 months both knees have improved and we've progressed to full body. Even my chiropractor has commented that I'm in the best shape I've been in since I started seeing him 9 years ago.

Fantastic experience: Having suffered a broken wrist in April 2021 and from this developing a rotator cuff injury where I was struggling with normal movement, I got in touch with Ian to discuss my problem and from that I attended his weekly Pilates class. Ian, with his friendly, knowledgeable and individual approach has helped me gain back movement, not only in my hand but also in my arm, through specific exercises on the reformer equipment. I have improved week on week with Ian changing my exercises to suit this, it has been an experience I am very grateful for. Fantastic experience: My wife has a condition called lipoedema and was looking for something to help rebuild loss of strength in her muscles. Fantastic experience: I have started going to Leeds Pilates following operations to my Rotator Cuff, for anyone familiar with this type of Tendon injury, it never goes away completely. After speaking with Innes and explaining what operation I have undergone, Innes put together a plan to strengthen the muscles around the area. During the last year experience, l am less dependent on pain killers and much more mobile. I have stopped the exercise during long periods away and one can feel the difference when stopping.
The shoulder problems associated with both rotator cuff and frozen shoulder can hugely impact our daily lives. Whether it's just reaching to a high shelf or fixing a bra, tasks that were previously relatively simple can suddenly become really difficult. Fantastic experience: I was advised to take up Pilates by my Chiropractor. I am a runner and have a lot of pain in my lower back and hips which I ignored for years. I had tried going to Pilates classes which focused on mat work but because of my lower back pain I didn't enjoy the classes and gave up. I went for an introductory session with Innes at Leeds Pilates Centre and he immediately saw where the issues were with my alignment and gave me focused exercises to help me to correct my alignment, reduce my pain and make me stronger. I've only been going for three months and the progress I have made is amazing. Now when I run, I can feel the difference the exercises are making to strength and my posture. My running speed has improved significantly. The classes are good fun too! There is always a lively debate going on and the atmosphere is great. I look forward to going every week. Innes really knows his stuff and has helped me to realise that I can carry on running without doing more damage to my body. The classes are also flexible and if you aren't able to make a certain day on one week, Innes is happy for you to switch to another day ( if there is space). Fantastic experience: I cannot speak highly enough of Innes and the Leeds Pilates Centre. The results I have seen have been fantastic! After suffering a bulged disc in my lower back I had been in constant pain for several months and was at the point of despair when someone recommended machine based Pilates as a last resort before an injection. It made an almost immediate difference and the constant and incremantal improvements that I continue to feel are both obvious and extremely rewarding. I am now running 5k and 10k again regularly, which I wouldn't have thought possible 6 months ago. Innes is a very observant and attentive instructor who has educated me on the physiology of my programme and who constantly works with me to make sure that I am getting the best experience possible. Fantastic experience: After hurting myself trying to improve my personal best at a 10k, my cousin mentioned reformer pilates as a way to strengthen my core and legs. Having never had experience with the reformer machine or any of the other pilates equipment, l was really pleased with my first lesson a week ago. My instructor Ian is clearly knowledgeable and very attentive to each individual, catering to their individual needs. The day after my lesson I could still feel muscles that I hadn't used in a long time. Definitely a great work out! Looking forward to being able to go back again.

Fantastic experience: I have been attending weekly sessions with Innes for nearly 2 years now and would not miss it, The difference Innes has made to how my joints feel is amazing. I tried physio before coming to Leeds Pilate Centre but felt no real difference but the first session was one to one and we discussed my arthritis and Innes explained the exercises and which joints they would help. The exercises have changed as I have progressed and the strength, pain relief and how much more supple my body has been is very noticeable. Fantastic experience: After suffering dehiscence in my hip after a total hip replacement I have tried anything and everything to feel less pain and get some kind of fitness back over a period of 3 years including seeing several physios, one of whom recommended Innes at the Pilates studio. Within weeks I was walking further and slowly building my strength with a lot less pain. Innes is very very knowledgeable and welcoming. In the class there are only 4 or 5 people but the sessions feel like they are one to one as Innes spends time showing and explaining the movements and equipment to you. These target your own needs and the exercises are adapted so they don’t aggravate your problem further. I highly recommended Innes at the Pilates studio to anyone.

Fantastic experience: An incredible place for body conditioning and body adjustments. As a professional dancer and teacher it’s imperative that I keep myself in top condition. Thankfully the work, knowledge and skill from the instructors here is of the highest quality and has easily remedied minor issues I have had which were not as obvious to me, this has resulted in a massive increase in performance output, in more flexible, more efficient in movement and subsequently it has also benefitted my dance technique. Through structured programmes specifically designed and catered to correct any bodily issues I have and which have been made aware of, without a doubt this is a crucial part of my training. Anyone of a high performance or athletic vocation should not miss an opportunity to get involved here, the benefits are unprecedented.

Fantastic experience: Great location and a clean well maintained pilates studio. I have been an avid distance runner for a number of years and have learnt the hard way the importance of muscle balance and how to stretch correctly. I first came to visit Innes (the instructor) at the studio around two years ago because I had been experiencing issues with hip and calf pain; I had previously visited physios who only attempted to solve the problem at hand, instead of considering the cause and prevention. Innes was great, he listened to me and understood how important it was that I was still able to maintain the volume of running I was doing whilst helping me to improve and resolve my hip and calf problems. He explained what exercises we are doing and how they are affecting the specific muscles and joints. The exercises continuously develop and change inline with your progress.

Fantastic experience: An occupational hazard in my job as a dentist is knackered back,shoulders and hips.....Most of us suffer in some way and I was at the stage where I was even in pain lying down and had to dog walk with knee supports,tape and sticks. Fantastic experience: My mum pammi is having Pilates sessions here. Her knees were bad before starting and have greatly improved since coming here so much so that she's just completed a 28 mile hike. The instructor is really helpful and makes the sessions enjoyable.

Fantastic experience: My motivation in early 2018 to try pilates, was to avoid the need for the lower back physiotherapy sessions which had been necessary on occasions. Equipment based pilates at the Parkway seemed ideal for me as a reasonably fit, into my 60s bloke, who didn’t want to be lying on a mat in a big class environment ! A weekly session has definitely improved my flexibility and general strength, and (nearly 18 months later) no more physiotherapy ! I find the studio sessions professional and enjoyable, with Innes being very attentive to our individual needs and improvement goals.

Fantastic experience: I have been attending reformer Pilates classes with Innes at Leeds Pilates Centre for four months. One session a week has helped me strengthen my left hip after a torn labral muscle injury. My whole core is so much stronger and I feel much fitter and stronger all round. Fantastic experience: This Pilates studio is unusual in that Innes (the instructor) essentially treats every user as an individual, discussing their requirements, setting a flexible programme of activity and then allowing them to work through the programme at their own pace. There aren't any long term contracts, simply pay as you go which is easy and flexible. Sessions typically last about 75 minutes and there is a range of equipment (most of it looking brand new) for users to practice on. There are normally four or five users in at the same time and enough equipment so that waiting for equipment doesn't occur. Users are about 50/50 male/female and all seem to enjoy the sessions with Innes darting around between customers adjusting their technique or suggesting extensions to activities. There is usually a good natured discussion rumbling along between some or all of the users for at least part of each session. This seems like an ideal studio.

Fantastic experience: My mum has been attending Pilates with Innes (who she says is a fantastic instructor) for a few months now. Not only does she tell me that it has really started to make a difference to her hip strength and upper body strength, she also says that she feels less sore and taller! At any given time we generally have in the studio perhaps a dozen clients that have either had, or are trying to avoid, a hip replacement. Our winning formula is teachers who are experienced and skilled, but also having clients perform Pilates exercises that are exclusive to the Pilates Allegro 2 reformers and our Corealign machines. These hip exercises cannot be performed on any other apparatus.

Fantastic experience: As an office worker I’ve suffered from upper back pain for many years, caused mainly by poor posture. I attended mat-based Pilates classes for a year but it wasn’t until I switched to Leeds Pilates Centre and reformer based Pilates that I’ve made a massive transformation & improvement. Although small group classes (typically 3-4 people) it feels personal as instruction is always on hand and everything is tailored to my specific plan and needs. The programmes are tailored to the individual and class sizes are small enabling the instructor to take a really focused one to one approach. Fantastic experience: After being diagnosed that I had osteo arthritic hips shoulders and neck I decided to cease visiting the physiotherapist and osteopath, both of whom I had visited for years but now proving to be no longer effective. After a few sessions at the centre I began to notice a distinct improvement in my mobility and as a consequence my general well being and demeanour. Innes the owner, is a patient, friendly accommodating and knowledgeable instructor who gives bespoke attention and as a result my experience at Leeds Pilates centre combined with a return to moderate (and complementary exercise) between sessions has far exceeded my expectations to the extent that I have now ceased using any oral or applied pain relief. I look forward to my twice weekly sessions after which I feel as though I have completed a workout with all the positive effects but don’t feel the total fatigue I used to feel after cardio and weights at the gym a few years ago.

In your situation you have managed to eliminate all oral pain relief and that is a great achievement for yourself. It is also pleasing that you feel less fatigue and have better mobility. Fantastic experience: Long standing and severe chronic back problems had become part of my life for more than 20 years. During that time I had tried what I thought was every kind of solution and treatment but as the years passed I had resigned myself to having to live with my condition. A year ago I was told about the Leeds Pilates Centre and was persuaded by my family to give them a try. I remember on my first visit thinking how strange all of the Pilates equipment looked. My favourite is the reformer but I also like the core align. I have my own programme of exercises to follow and because the teachers have a lot of experience I feel very confident about doing the exercises. I don’t think that there can be another Pilates studio quite like this anywhere and I really enjoy it. I wish that I could have done this years ago but I had never heard about this kind of Pilates. My condition has improved more than I could ever have imagined and Pilates is now part of my life.

Fantastic experience: I started Pilates in a mat work class but for various reasons many of the exercises were not suitable for me to do. I looked around at alternatives and decided to try the Leeds Pilates Centre. I have now been attending on a regular basis for over three years. I am eager to attend the sessions in order to become stronger, gain flexibility, & as a regular walker stretch my legs which are very tight. After long walks my calf muscles are much less painful than they used to be. I like going to the studio as I feel I am doing something positive to try to make the most of what I have and work towards improving.
Barbara, living in God's own country as we do, it's of course natural that we we have lots of walkers here in Yorkshire. Unfortunately the price that we have to pay sometimes is those tight leg muscles. As you know there are some lovely stretches that can be done on the studio equipment and all of them of course pain free. We are glad to hear that you are enjoying your sessions and that Pilates is helping you to maintain your regular walking. Fantastic experience: I have suffered with sciatica and lower back pain on and off for about 15 years, and during this time I have tried many things to try and improve my condition. Since starting my sessions at the Leeds Pilates centre back in March, I can honestly say this has definitely been the most positive and effective way of easing my pain. Innes, my instructor, is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to Pilates, and back pain in general, and has helped immensely in my recovery from barely being able to walk, to a couple of weeks later back to work and plastering ceilings! Any one suffering with any kind of back ache or pain should definitely give it a go!
Your situation is one that we have encountered many times before Dominic. Someone suffers with back pain for years and tries all kinds of solutions without any lasting success. But then by chance they are fortunate enough to discover that reformer based Pilates can provide them with a solution for the long term. Fantastic experience: I have suffered with lower back / tight piriformis trouble for a few years. My physio suggested I try Reformer Pilates and it has proven to be the only exercise which has helped reduce my discomfort. Over several weeks Innes has created a programme which is tailored to suit both my ability and disability. This is now increasing as I am clearly gaining strength. I have a mixture of exercises which target my core, glutes, general mobility and upper body strength so I do feel as if I am getting a complete and balanced work out every week. I have had one to one sessions but now that I am accustomed to the equipment the group sessions would also work. Certainly recommend this to anyone suffering with lower back pain. It’s a more subtle form of exercise with emphasis on the technique but for me it has been hugely effective.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic results without causing any injury to myself. I turned up here as my achilles was always getting injured. I had spent about six months hobbling around after over doing it at the gym which had flared up a previous injury. The instructor is extremely patient and astute in his teachings has real intuition about his client and his clients needs. Just one session a week has meant I am no longer in pain and even though you don't leave the sessions exhausted - I've become stronger and more toned. I love my pilates session here - its a real escape from the stress and bustle of real life. Its also encouraging to know i am doing something which is going to help my body and mobility for when i am older.

Fantastic experience: I am a keen cyclist but as a consequence suffer with very tight hamstrings and quads in particular.. About 3 years ago a friend suggested I try reformer based Pilates and I gave the Leeds Pilates Centre a go . This has turned out to be an excellent decision. With the expert guidance of Innes in small group sessions I have learnt how to use the equipment and my legs have clearly benefited . I now regularly attend the Centre and as a consequence have been able to continue cycling pain free. I enjoy going to the studio and I find using the machines so much more enjoyable than mat based Pilates. I would highly recommend Leeds Pilates Centre.

Fantastic experience: I have attended Pilates session at Leeds Pilates Centre for around a year now. The instructor plans an individual programme which addresses the problems with certain joints and adaptations are made so that I am able to exercise, stretch and improve core strength and balance. There is help to make adjustments with the equipment and reminders of the form of the exercises. I notice the difference when I haven’t been and I think it is helping with my overall well-being. The sessions are small groups as it is friendly and good fun.
Julie you have made good improvement with your joint strength and flexibility and this is evident because you notice the difference if you miss a week. Still more gains to make though.

Fantastic experience: At 51, I’m a newbie to Pilates and wish that I had been doing them for the last 50! My strength is coming back and I’m already more flexible than I was 30 years ago. Ian is a very thoughtful teacher, treating us as individuals, continually developing our own personal programmes, allowing us to focus on what ¬we need. I can’t recommend Leeds Pilates Centre enough. If you want to fix your back and develop your flexibility in a great setting, this is the place.

Fantastic experience: Pilates has become a big part of my life since a friend recommended it to me years ago and this studio is a real gem. It is so much more than just a Pilates class. With specialist equipment I have only seen in London and expert tuition in pleasant surroundings, we are very lucky to have such a good centre in Yorkshire. The difference it has made is amazing I am so much stronger, more flexible and now free of back pain. I feel so much better after each session thanks to the effective programme of individual exercises I have been given. It is a pleasure to come here every week.
