SUP With Us

Fantastic experience: Just come back from another paddle board retreat with SUP with Us, this time in the Verdon Gorge. Again, a fantastic experience with comfortable accommodation, stunning scenery, varied trips and excellent company. Everyone was well looked after according to their needs and level of experience , so that nobody needed to feel out of their depth, or held back. Helen was happy to provide hints and tips for those who wanted to improve their technique, and there was plenty of time for exploring, socialising and of course, having loads of fun! Already looking forward to the next one!

Fantastic experience: My family and I did the 2 hour introduction to SUP with Helen as complete novices. We all had an amazing time and managed to not only stand up on the boards, but remained standing! Helen was patient and fun and helped each of us when we needed it. She took some lovely photos of us all “in action”, which has given us evidence for friends We WILL be back!

Fantastic experience: Feedback for Paddleboarding Lesson 12/07/2025 My wife and I had a paddleboarding lesson today at Teston Country Park, and it was a fantastic experience. Our instructor, Helen, was extremely helpful, patient, and encouraging throughout the session. My wife fell off twice during the lesson, but Helen was right there to assist her both times, offering calm support and helping her get back on with confidence. Despite the falls, my wife still really enjoyed the session thanks to Helen’s reassuring and positive approach. The class was well-organized, fun, and a great way to spend time together outdoors. Fantastic experience: Helen is a terrific instructor, her relaxed patient style had me kneeling and then standing, padding down the river in this first lesson, where as my experience with my paddleboard up to that point had been mastering the art of falling in. Despite being overweight , with no sense of balance, it would seem that with the right instructor , anyone can paddleboard . Gorgeous surroundings to learn in too. Everyone who buys a paddleboard should go for at least one lesson- I now have the knowledge to go out practice and improve, but will be going back again. Also Helen weaves in lots of common sense tips, around staying safe and important of picking your timing of when to go. Money very well spent and really enjoyable too. Thank you so much

Helen was by my side every second, I was fearful of falling off so thankfully didn’t. She explains everything even before getting in the water, all very organised. Fantastic experience: I had great fun paddle boarding with my teenager on the river today. A 2 hour lesson included racing, learning and relaxing, and was guided brilliantly by Helen at SUP with us.

Fantastic experience: I booked onto the group lesson with Helen and ended up being a 1-1 due to weather and end of season. She still went ahead and was so welcoming and a great teacher. Just after 2 hours I was hooked and looking into getting my own board to join her on the social groups. I bombarded Helen with questions about SUP with a dog, and she advised me on what boards to look for, what sizes and things to stay away from. Super friendly atmosphere, well worth the money. Thanks so much Helen!

Fantastic experience: We had a fantastic first experience paddle boarding with Helen today. She was super friendly, informative and we left feeling we had learnt quite a lot in a short space of time. We will definitely be returning in the future…..loved it!

Fantastic experience: I has a lesson with Helen at the weekend and she was an amazing teacher. It was the first time I had ever tried SUP. Fantastic experience: I had a fabulous lesson with Helen at the weekend. I had only been on a paddle board once before, so was really a beginner. From making my booking, to the morning of my lesson, Helen kept in touch and updated me with weather/current changes. As it turned out the day was quite windy, so I was given the choice to postpone but, as I’m quite a strong swimmer, I decided to go ahead, and I’m so glad I did. I loved it! Helen got me standing up straight away, showed me how to steer, turn, self rescue and I didn’t fall in once! I then chose to get in the water, so that I could learn how to climb back on. I felt safe throughout and had such fun. Helen also gave me lots helpful information safety, where and when to SUP, boards, equipment and much more. I would highly recommend Helen and SUP with us, for anyone wanting to learn or improve their SUP skills.

Fantastic experience: This was my first time on a paddle board, Helen is very experienced and made me feel confident on the board despite the wobbles and eventual dunking. Had a great time. Definitely recommend to others.

Fantastic experience: I had an excellent paddleboarding lesson with Helen today. The session was well organised; students were able to learn and practice at their own pace with both one to one and group advice. There was plenty of attention to safety and good technique while keeping the group relaxed and friendly. Helen was encouraging, and helpful well beyond what could reasonably be expected from such a well priced activity. I'll definitely be back!

Fantastic experience: sup With Us. Helen is such a lovely person and makes you feel welcome and comfortable. I’ve just returned from her Slovenia SUP retreat and had a fantastic time with an amazing group of like minded people. Accommodation was perfect and its distance to Lake Bled was walkable with the boards. We travelled by mini bus to other locations. I can honestly say that I couldn’t fault anything. Thank you so much for a lovely trip!

Helen was full of experience and knowledge and also very supportive as I was a bit wobbly. She gave me lots of advice and answered all my paddle board questions. Fantastic experience: My 12 year old daughter and her best friend had the best time with Helen. Helen supported the girls to feel confident about stand up paddle boarding and to know what they were doing as well as have an awareness for health and safety. Helen was prepared and on time and had a great enthusiasm and energy. It was also a beautiful day to be on the water and a beautiful location. I would recommend to anyone looking for something new and adventurous to do with children or adults.

Fantastic experience: This was an amazing experience! Helen took a group of friends of different ages out last Saturday evening for a magical session - the first experience for most of us. It was peaceful and calm but also lots of great fun! We felt safe at all times. Helen gauged everything perfectly and she was a fab instructor. Fantastic experience: It was mine and my partners first time paddle boarding and I’m so happy we chose to have this experience with Helen, she made us feel so comfortable. We were nervous to begin with but definitely felt so safe with Helen there. Helen, being both kind and professional, was able to quickly get us on to our feet and our confidence growing on the water despite our nerves. I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed it and what a lovely place to learn the basics too! The fact that I didn’t fall in on my first try is largely down to the detailed and expert teaching that I received from Helen. What a teacher I will be returning for sure, thank you

Fantastic experience: At 60 years of age, I did wonder if I would spend all my time in the water on my first ever SUP experience. I was wrong and it was all down to the excellent and very patient Helen who calmly instructed me and got me standing up and paddling. It was a fantastic experience and I would highly recommend SUP with us and Helen to anyone considering taking up SUP.

Fantastic experience: Best £90 we have ever spent!! CANNOT recommend a SUP lesson with Helen enough. We were excited to give it a go, but we got so much more out our two hours with Helen than we expected. As well as top notch equipment, safety gear & a stunning sunny day on the water, Helen stole the show. Clearly one of those rare people who loves what they do & you can't help but be affected by her enthusiasm!! We are now saving feverishly to buy our own gear & join the gang on the water again. Fantastic experience: Excellent SUP lesson today with Helen. Highly recommend. It was our first time and she made us and the rest of the group feel at ease and we all really enjoyed it. Learnt the basics on dry land then straight onto the water. Learnt basic techniques to go straight, turn and stop/slow down. A really lovely way to spend our Sunday afternoon. Excellent value for money. Helen was professional but at the same time funny and chilled and made the lesson informative yet fun.

Fantastic experience: Myself and my 4 year old daughter took a paddle board lesson today and I have to say it went so well. I really enjoyed it and so did my daughter. I thought the instructor was amazing and was very accommodating. My daughter sat on the instructors paddle board until I was confident and then was able to continue the rest of the lesson on my board. Absolutely recommend.

We had our lesson with Helen, and she was informative, providing good guidence, giving us the heads up on river etiquette, and was hot on safety measures that should be standard proceedure when out on your SUP. Fantastic experience: I had a SUP group lesson with Helen and would definitely recommend it. I’ve never tried SUP before and Helen was brilliant. She broke everything down into stages and was really encouraging. Throughout the session she gave all of us tips to help with our technique. Fantastic experience: Great experience. Been wanting to do this for ages, but just have been carping from the sidelines. Knew I would love it. Being on the water and seeing the wildlife and just being without traffic was lovely. I didnt fall in but my husband did and he is usually better at sports so all good . Must do it again before I am too decrepit.

Fantastic experience: The beginner class i took was great. 2 hours of getting to know the correct paddle technique, how to get on the board, how to stand up, how to turn, how to avoid boats waves and most importantly how to get back on your board! Helen was informative, and patient. Had a blast, looking into my own board now and will be looking to get back on the water quickly.

Negative experience: Total disregard for safety and other river users. I would give no stars if there was that option. Instructor and some of the trainees had no life jackets on, and the instructors behavior at the lock was actually dangerous.

Fantastic experience: I had a 1-2-1 lesson with Helen as a complete beginner. She was an excellent instructor, not only helping me to paddle board but also giving loads of info about equipment required, how to look after it and the general SUP lifestyle. I, of course, fell in within minutes but with her instruction it didn’t take long at all to feel more confident and find more stability. I’d definitely recommend booking a lesson. Great value for the time and experience you’ll receive.

Fantastic experience: An amazing experience with an amazing teacher. Helen has a great teaching style, she makes you feel at ease and relaxed but is also clearly very experienced and knowledgeable, and talks you through every scenario. I had a one-to-one beginner's lesson and genuinely can't fault the whole experience in any way. It was a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon, floating down the river, chatting away and trying desperately not to fall in! If you are thinking about booking a lesson with Helen, just do it, it is a fabulous experience. I've just bought my own board!

Fantastic experience: My husband booked the session with Helen for my birthday. We took our 2 sons (both in their 20s). I was a little apprehensive ( as I didn't want to look a fool-I imagined I would spend more time in the water than on the board) but Helen was an excellent teacher-very patient and very encouraging. From start to finish Helen explained everything so clearly and we felt very safe. We all loved it and whilst some of us were happy to keep upright (I did fall in once) and drift along, others were keen to race along-and Helen was fine with that. We will definitely recommend SUP With Us to anyone wanting to give it a go and I imagine we will be back as soon as we can.
